My first thought was too get to her instantly.
I had to stop myself.
I saw Four climb down the Ferris wheel. He had to have a plan. He had to.
"Four!" I heard Tris scream. I was scared. For her. I hoped that she would be okay.
I clutched my stomach and bit my bottom lip as I heard her scream again.
I clutched it harder. The Ferris wheel was moving.
I sighed in relief. She would soon be down. She would soon be safe.
I couldn't say the same for us. They knew where our flag was. No doubt they would soon come after us.
I filled my gun with paintballs and stared a the trapdoor. Myra did the same.
Then I remember.
Tris.
Surely she could have the flag. It was a game. We weren't being ranked on this. I already beat her up yesterday. It would be selfish to steal all the glory.
I saw Tris and her team head for our tower. The grew bigger as they got closer. Seconds passed as they got closer.
Tris popped open the trapdoors.
As soon as she came up, I threw her the flag. She smiled at me and waved it around proudly.
Myra looked at me with a shocked expression. I knew what she was thinking. She didn't say anything about it, but I knew that she wouldn't keep her mouth shut.
Christina came up shortly after with a hurt expression on her face. She wanted to capture the flag. I only slightly felt bad for her.
Before I knew it, the rest of the opponents team came filing in, along with mine. They all had paint covered clothing. I smiled to myself as I watched my girlfriend get swarmed and then lifted up into the air by multiple initiates.
I didn't care if I lost.
It didn't matter.
But what did, was seeing her with a smile on her face.
I sat on the floor of the train listening to Will complain about how he missed the flag, when suddenly, someone sat next to me.
It was Myra.
"Why did you do that?" She asked, pulling her knees up to her chest and looking at me.
I looked at the floor. "I don't know what you're referring too."
She sneered. "You know exactly what I am referring to." She looked at me deeper, trying to make me lift me head. "You giving Tris the flag."
I shrugged. "I wanted her to win."
She didn't think it was enough. "Really?"
"Yeah."
She shook her head and stood up to look out the window.
I sighed.
"When we get back to the Dauntless compound," Four starts. "Everybody has the day off after breakfast."
I looked outside with Myra. Dawn was breaking.
I smile. I could do everything with Tris. I had all day to do so.
Suddenly an unbearable thought came to me as my smile faded.
What if she didn't want to spend it with me? What if she wanted to stay with Christina, Will, and Al?
I sighed. I didn't blame her if she did. After all, she had some apologizing to do to Christina.
"Get ready!" I Four yells. It was time to jump. I turn towards the door and wait until we get closer to the building. When we do, the first to jump off was a girl from Tris's team. A had a smooth landing. On her feet. Something that I thought was impossible. I looked back inside of the train. Multiple people were jumping now.
I saw Tris. She pulled her hair back. She was going to go next. I hoped that she would be okay. Her nose was healing under the medical wrap she had on.
I smiled in her direction. She saw me and smiled back.
"Together" She mouthed. I nodded.
"1..."
"2..."
"3..." I mouth the final number and we both jump out of separate doors.
As we jumped, I was sure that I had the goofiest smile on my face. But I didn't care. I was happy.
I decided not to go to breakfast. I stayed in the dorm and hoped that Tris would notice that I was not at the Pit and would come upstairs so that we could talk.
Okay maybe not just talk.
I sighed and stretched out on my bunk.
Suddenly, I hear the door open.
Tris had come up, a muffin in her hand.
"I'm sorry I only have one." She said, closing the door behind her. "I thought it would be suspicious if I had two." She added.
She threw herself onto my bed and crawled into my chest.
"You don't mind sharing, right?"
I shook my head and bit a small chunk off of her muffin. She grinned.
"Banana nut?" I asked, still chewing on the chunk.
"Pete!" She giggled. "Chew with your mouth closed." She said, running a hand through my hair. I nodded and finished chewing. She also took a bite out of the muffin. Only she chewed faster.
I smiled at my girlfriend. At the exact same time, we leaned in. I closed the space between us. Electricity coursed through my body as my girlfriend deepened the kiss. Just then I remembered.
I pulled away from the kiss, although not wanting to.
"Will you spend your day off with me?" I said, nervously biting my lip.
"Of course, baby." She said, playfully smacking my arm. "Why wouldn't I?"
I looked at the muffin in her hand. "I thought you would rather spend it with Christina or something."
She rolled her eyes. "Uggh." She groaned. "Let's not even start on her." She added. "She's been ignoring me ever since I captured the flag."
I look back at her and smiled. I took her hand and put it onto my chest. "Good." I say, taking another bite of her muffin. She giggled and pecked me on my forehead.
"Where do you want to go?" She asked.
I thought hard. Where did I want to go? I lifted her shirt up and stroked her tattoo.
Then it came to me.
I wanted to get a tattoo of her name.
