I took her hand as she lead me out.

I looked back, but Caleb was no longer there.

"What happened back there?" I asked, giving her a curious look.

She shook her head. "I can't talk about it here, but I'll tell you later."

I nodded my head. I trusted that she would tell me.

We headed back to the train station, and waited for it to arrive. I cracked jokes about "Beatrice" and my girlfriend glares at me every time I do. "I said don't call me that." She said, her teeth scraping each other.

I pulled her waist closer to me. "I think it's cute." I say pecking her on the cheek.

She rolls her eyes and pulls away. "I don't."

We argue for a while longer until the train comes. When it does, Tris is the first to jump on it. She opens the car door and extends her arm out for me. I ran to catch up with the train and take her hand willingly.

"I could have done it myself." I said, calming my breathing down.

She smiles softly. "I know."

I look at my watch. "When are we getting off?" I asked, sitting down next to her.

She shrugs her shoulders. "I don't know."

I smile at her. "We can stay as long as we want."

She grabbed my hand and placed it on her lap. "I'd like that."

We spent a half an hour on the train, cuddling. I clutch her tighter whenever the train makes a rattling noise.

Suddenly, I feel the need to get up, and stretch. She feels the same way and does not get offended when I pull away.

I look outside of the window. We were almost at Candor Headquarters. I see my old house in the distance and wave at it. Tris sees me do so. "What are you looking at?" She asked, coming next to me to stare out the window. When she sees it, she smiles.

"You miss them."

I nod. She hugged me closer and put her chin on my shoulder.

I continue to look out the window as we pass the Candor street.

I would have jumped by now, but I wasn't as brave as Tris.

I didn't want anybody thinking that I was ashamed of my new Faction.

In a few minutes we were back Dauntless Headquarters, where a group of Dauntless members and initiates waited on the end of track. Tris saw what I did and instantly removed her arms from around my waist. I moved away from the window as the Dauntless started to pile in.

Tris and I had pulled away just in time.

"Tris!" I hear someone call her name. I turn to it. It was a Dauntless-born initiate. He smiled at her and waved her over. I rose an eyebrow at him. He looked familiar.

I thought. I was sure that I saw him today.

It struck me.

I was right.

Earlier today. During the Capture the flag activity. He was on Tris's team. One of the many initiates that threw her into the air after capturing the flag. My head was foggy at the time, it being 5:00 and all.

Tris dangling the Ferris wheel certainly woke me up.

I bit my lip. I wasn't sure how to feel about him.

Yet.

"Wanna come with us?" He asked, flipping his hair. "It's a Dauntless ritual." He flashed a bright smile at her.

I sort of knew how to feel now.

I didn't like him too much.

She walks towards him, smiling widely. Suddenly, another initiate jumps into the car, tackling Tris to the ground. She groans loudly.

"Zeke!" She wheezes, shoving him off. The boy who smiled at Tris looked at Zeke. I thought about throwing him off of the train. I peeked out the corner of my eye to see if Tris was okay. She clutched her stomach, just as I did when I saw her dangling by her hands on the Ferris wheel.

"Come on, dude. You know she had a fight with that Peter guy." He said, pulling Zeke off of her.

I awkwardly shifted my position and cleared my throat.

Every head turned to me.

The boy with the bright smile looked at me. "Oh, umm...you can come to the ritual too." He said. "It's for everybody. Well, Dauntless."

"My name's Uriah." He said, extending his hand out to me.

I walked up to him and shook his hand.

"Damn, you Candor have firm grip." He said, shaking his hand as soon as I released. It wasn't my nature to grip his hand roughly.

I gripped it roughly out of jealousy.

Tris gave me a look. She knew what I was thinking.

I smiled to myself. "So, what's the ritual thing about?" I said, picking at my nails, pretending to not be interested. The truth was, if my girlfriend was invited to an event including multiple guys, I wanted to know what it was.

"It's a surprise." Uriah says, wiggling his fingers around.

Zeke rolls his eyes. "He just doesn't know either."

I laughed.

"Oh look at that, it's time to jump." A girl with a flirtatious smile said, pointing out the window and interrupting our conversation. She was the first to jump. I followed right after. In doing so, I almost landed on her.

She stood up instantly, then pulled me up. "I'm Marlene." She said, a smile on her face. I nodded.

"Peter."

Of all the crazy things Dauntless do, this wasn't the last thing I expected.

Wind raced through my hair, giving it a crazy mad-man look.

We were on a high building, formed into a line. In front of the line was a contraption. It was a sling big enough to put a human in attached to a wire.

Oh yeah, and it was feet above the city.

I thought that Tris would be afraid of heights ever since she almost lost her life hanging from a Ferris wheel.

I couldn't be any more wrong. She hopped into the sling excitedly, biting her lip to hide her smile.

My attention was caught when I realized it was her turn.

"Wow, Stiff." Zeke said, securing her sling around her stomach area. "I'm surprised you're not crying and screaming by now."

"I told you she a Dauntless, through and through." Says Uriah, "Now get on with it."

"Careful, brother, or I might not tighten your straps enough," Zeke says, slapping his knee. "And then splat!"

They were brothers?

They looked nothing alike, the only similarity between them being their skin tone.

Although they did, argue like relatives. I smiled to myself and thought of Alzas, and a pain struck me in my chest.

Maybe I missed her more than I said and thought I did. I thought about how Tris and I passed my old house, smiling and waving at it. I checked my watch.

It was almost noon. She would be in school, heading for lunch by now. My eyes stung, but I kept the tears back.

"Yeah, yeah." Uriah says. "And then our mother would boil you alive."

Another pain struck my chest.

My mother, who did not visit me on visiting day. I stopped listening, and when their conversation is over, I see Tris, on the zip-line, her arms extended, as if she were a bird in flight.
