Prompt from Jenanistonrockz- cops!Klaine :)

Right in the Middle

Kurt closes his eyes for barely a second before opening them and focusing on the target. He steadies his hand and one, two, three, four bullets pierce through the cardboard easily. Just a tenth of an inch to the left. He groans; he's been standing here for an hour, and not one bullet made it to the middle of the cardboard circle. One part of him muses that it's very close to the middle of the circle, but the other part, the bigger, angrier part argues- not close enough.

He rips his noise canceling headset off, and startles at the sound of clapping.

On the wall to his right leans officer Blaine Anderson, applauding him with a half-grin. "Nice shot."

"How long have you been standing there, Anderson?" he asks, annoyed that he didn't notice, throwing the headset on the counter he earlier leaned on.

"Long enough to know you're angry. You're only ever this precise when you're really pissed off."

Kurt bows his head, grits his teeth. Blaine's right, as usual. It pisses him off even more, as usual. "I want to quit this job and move to the countryside of Australia."

"But I'd miss you," Blaine teases, playful.

Kurt rolls his eyes and says, "Boss wanted me to go out there tonight."

Blaine's smirk quickly dies on his lips.

"I told him I won't, and he was damn upset."

"He asked me, too. Had to send out all the fucking nutheads when I refused," Blaine shakes his head, looking at Kurt's fingers gripping onto his gun. "He sent McLagan, Gibson, and Keller, even the newbies from Roger's team."

He doesn't flinch when Kurt makes a disgusted face and lifts his gun, firing several bullets into the exact middle of the red circle placed ten feet in front of him; the gun is noisy and the loud blast makes his ears ring. His mouth tastes like copper when he says, "it's hell on earth out there."

Blaine bites the inside of his cheek, chewing on it for a second before reaching towards Kurt's gun, still held up by cold fingers. He pries it from Kurt's hands, and unloads it.

"Come on, let's go get coffee. You're going crazy, stuck in here."

Kurt kicks the counter, refusing to flinch when pain shoots through his foot. "I'll go crazy if I have to watch what's going on out there."

There's only a short moment of silence before Blaine asks, "why don't you come have coffee at my place? I have my car so we don't have to walk there."

Kurt bites his lips and looks into Blaine's eyes, trying to read him. A few long seconds pass by before he nods. "Yeah, okay. Let's go."
