Disclaimer: I solemnly swear that I do not own Lord of the Rings. Tolkien is probably turning in his grave at this story.

A.N: Apologies for any dodgy spelling I just want these chapters up for all my lovely readers to enjoy. '' is someone thinking, usually Nina as she is the only one who thinks…"" is some speaking and italics is someone speaking in another language, usually Elvish. Forgive me if I get my geography is wrong with Helms Deep. Please let me know. Also, this has a sub chapter title, because I felt like it.

The Battle for Helms Deep

Don't Blink

Megan was looking murderous. It was quite funny actually as I was not afraid of her. I look at her and gave her the 'Bring it!' gesture. I was standing between Haldir and Legolas, Haldir clear eyed and chatting to me in a friendly manner with Legolas, smiling at me occasionally.

'2-Nina, Megan-1.'

They were nice and fun to talk, despite the upcoming battle.

"Haldir, Legolas! Come to the outer wall, we will need to lead the archers." Called Aragorn.

"What do you want Megan and I to do?"

"Help guard the next wall if the first should fall."

I frowned and then saluted and we left for the next wall in. We couldn't find our position and went to ask Théoden in the armory. I found a chain and ball, a bit like a flail, while in the armory (I left Megan to chat with Théoden) and grabbed it, wrapping it around my shoulders and waist. It was heavy but it was a useful weapon and protected most of my torso, as I had no amour. We left for the inner wall, near the huge side gate. I unwrapped the chain and ball and left it hang by my side. Haldir found us murmured good luck to both of us before returning to the outer wall. He kissed Megan on the cheek while I pulled a face.

'Damn. 2-Nina, Megan-2. I haven't broken the bond quite yet.'

It started to rain and I shivered, pulling my hood up and wrapping my coat and scarf tighter around me. It was dark and gloomy and everyone was getting soaked to the bone, lower the already depressed morale. Then I heard them. The sound of marching and then the loud chanting and roaring. The men beside Megan and I flinched and shot each other scared looks. Megan looked calm and regal for some irritating reason. I blinked then. I so should not have blinked.

BOOM!

The wall exploded and collapsed, taking the men with it. I knew that most of the men would be killed as they were too far up to survive or were crushed by the falling rock. The elves would probably survive, but it was still terrifying. Megan looked pale and, dare I say it, human for a moment. The orcs swarmed in and clambered up to the top of the inner wall. I kicked the ladders down before pulling the chain and ball out and back to move. I ducked and swung the chain, cracking the sternum of the orc before spinning and releasing the chain again and splitting open the head of the orc. I cartwheeled, causing the chain spin around me and taking out three orcs. I then wrapped it around my leg and swung it out, causing another orc to fall. I blinked and then had to dive as a gigantic orc swung it's dirty great big sword at me. I rolled and flipped the chain so the ball smashed into it's ugly face. I turned, my widening as I saw elves struggling to get up from the rock fall. They were being massacred by the orcs. I then did one of the most stupidest things in my life. I run and jumped.

'YOU IDIOT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?' Screamed the sensible voice in my head.

You should understand that when I see someone hurt my first reaction is to help, the consequences be damned. Not always a good thing. So, I had jumped and slid carefully down the rock hall, Megan following me.

"I'll keep them busy, you help them!" I yelled.

Megan nodded and moved forward. I surged forward into the fray performing a macabre dance, highland flinging myself around like a crazy person. I blinked again and then felt the hairs on the back of my neck rise up before I actually saw anything. An orc, moving quickly, sneaking up and their sword moving up. I screamed out the first name that came to my head.

"HALDIR!"

I lunged at him in a desperate attempt to get him out of the way. I tried to twist my back to avoid the sword. The white hot, searing pain informed that I had not made it. I cried out in pain, but I doubt that anyone heard over the sound of the battle. I stumbled, turned and swung the chain around so it smashed into it's face. I turned and pulled Haldir up, who had fallen to the ground, and we ran down the ruined wall, back towards Aragorn. My back was bleeding, but I failed to notice it after the initial pain and no one else said any thing. We sprinted back to the fortress and dived in, slamming the doors behind us. A cruel, nasty voice whispered in the back of my mind and I shivered.

'Typical Mary Sue move Nina. No better than Megan.'

I wondered what that now meant for me.

Aragorn, Gimlí and I crept around the outside of the fortress and peered around the corner. I wrapped my weapon around myself and smothered a giggle as Gimlí was tossed into the crowd of orcs. I was strongly reminded of marsh pits, except this had more spears and less cheering. Aragorn went next and I leapt in after him. I swung my weapon around me like a madwoman, cartwheeling and back flipping (is that even a word?), the ball and chain flying around me, knocking the orcs off the bridge that led up to fortress. I slid under Aragorn's legs and blocked a downward stroke, before twisting the chain around it and flicking it back into the orc's face. This continued for about ten minutes before we heard a yelled from Théoden, calling us back towards the destroyed door. We dived for it and fell onto our stomachs, panting like dogs.

We had lost so many men and Théoden was looking desperate. It had been four days with constant rain and black, blue clouds rolling around the sky. My back was screaming in protest, but I forced myself to ignore it. We were holed up in one of the main rooms in the fortress and everyone was shivering. Aragorn was looking out the window intently and then I suddenly remembered what Gandalf had said. I turned and slammed into Haldir.

'What the hell is wrong with me? I swear, going to Middle Earth has made me more clumsy.'

"Hey."

Haldir was looking at me intently before he spoke vey quietly.

"Thank you."

"For what?" I asked, startled.

"For saving my life my lady."

"The lady has a name."

"Nina."

"It's fine Haldir."

"Are you alright?"

"Yes." I lied.

My back was going to become infected soon, but that wasn't particularly important at the moment. The coat was torn but it still hid my back. I glanced over at Aragorn, who was speaking to Théoden. I suddenly realised that I could not ride a horse in the middle of a war to save my life. How ironic.

"ARGH!"

I screamed as the horse bolted out of the gates. Don't get me wrong, I like horse and trotting and usually with my arms wrapped around someone. Haldir gave me an irritated look which shut me up. I pulled out my butterfly sword and I stabbed everything that moved. The horse pranced and darted around the place to the point I nearly fell off. I swung my swords around me wildly and then I heard something. I looked up over the hills and saw Gandalf upon a white horse with Éomer next to him. They led the group down to charge upon the orcs. I had never been more relieved to see a whole lot of men on horses, like rather like knights in shining amour. Well, filthy armour. The battle last fifteen and no one else died. Now, all I had to do was to help the wounded. The pain in the back exploded as a reminder of all the wounded that lay around the fortress.

A.N: Bloody hell! Please, please review.
