When we jump off of the train onto Erudite Headquarters, the throw up on my shirt becomes smelly and noticeable. I pinch my nose as we walk there. It is dark outside, but the Erudite compound is still full of lights, shining bright against the setting, pretty. It calms my hear rate down from the fire, but I am still tense. Somewhere in the group, I spot out Tris, her position slouching.

When we arrive, it is cool, I sigh and continue to walk with the group, following Four.

Everybody's head's turn to us, the ash on our knuckles, faces, and bodies. I ignore it, and let go of my nose. He stops at a desk, and tells him about what happened to our Headquarters, to us. The man behind the desk nods and speaks lowly back to Four, as if to disturb no one. Then, he lead us to upstairs. On the way up, we get stares from around the room, curious. We are on the second floor, it is big. I have trouble staying with the group because I am distracted by the size and the amount of blue here.

"Here." The man points to a room, and nods at Four. Four nods, and turns towards us. The man leaves.

Four clears his throat and begins his announcement. "Dauntless-born and transfers will be sleeping inside of this dorm, Dauntless members, in the other." He looks over us, with a stern face, as if he were searching for something. He stops. "You guys are not considered members yet, so we will still address you as initiates until we are back at Dauntless Headquarters."

We all nod in silence, and he moves out of the way, so that we can enter the room. When we do, there are a chorus of sighs. The room is full of bunks, and has bathrooms in the back.

And air conditioning, of course.

I see a young boy throw himself onto the bed, sighing. He looks like Lynn, and the other girl that always sits with us at the Pit when we eat. I feel a pang of longing as I remember the Pit. It is gone now, and so is the dorm, where Tris and I had our first kiss. My bed, where we would sleep on almost every night in each others arms.

It was all ash.

"Really, Hec?" Lynn asks, her hands on her hips. "You saw I was going to lay on that one."

He shrugged his tiny shoulders and grinned. "Oops."

Lynn growled at him and stuck her tongue out. "Jokes on you, I got the top bunk."

He immediately sat up. "You can have this one now!"

She shook her head and started climbing the ladder that led to the next bed. "Too late." She said. "You made your choice already."

He folded his arms against his chest, and they had and argument that felt like it lasted eight minutes.

A girl sighed beside me. "You'll get used to it." She said, her hands on her hips.

I feel my brows raise. "I'm Shauna." I nod and extended my hand. "Peter." I say.

Shauna sighs. "Lynn and Hector are always fighting." She nods. "It's almost normal, now."

I laugh and nod back at her.

"Nice meeting you, Shauna."

I walked past them and stood next to where Tris was. She was sitting on a bunk, her hands folded. She looked as if she was burning a hole in the floor.

"Are you okay?"

It was a dumb question to ask, of course she wasn't. She had lost one of her friends back at the compound. No doubt the Pit would haunt us forever.

Her nose wrinkled. I smelt awful. "Christina barfed on me." Tris smiled lightly and looked up at me. Her eyes were shining, and I knew why. I pull her into a hug, in which she does not return. I don't take it personally. She does not want Christina's dinner on her fingers.

"I couldn't save him." She whispers softly, sniffling. She's holding back tears.

I clutch her tighter. "You tried." I whisper back, ruffling her hair in a loving way.

She nods and pulls away, her eyes still shining.

He could have made it, I rescued Christina, and she could have rescued Will. But it wasn't her fault. It wasn't any of our faults that the fire started.

But I didn't know that. Anybody could have started it.

She lied down on the bunk. "You need a shower," She said jokingly, despite what her eyes said. "Really, Peter."

"Up!"

It is odd to hear Four's voice wake us up, not Jacob's.

Jacob is gone. Jacob is dead.

The morning we wake up, it is bright. The light shines brightly through the windows, and I am blinded. I closed my eyes again, and sigh. I am in a top bunk of somebody's bed. Tris's. Then I remember.

Tris made me sleep away from her because of the throw up on my shirt. I smile.

But I instantly stop when I felt it dried against my back.

Eww.

Four drops a bin on the center of the room. I sit up, ignoring the sound my shirt makes when I do. I hold back a laugh when I see Four. It is hilarious.

He is in a light blue Erudite suit, a serious expression on his face.

I cannot take him seriously. He is not my instructor. He is another Erudite.

Lynn is the first to look in the bin. She pulls out a pair of Erudite pants. "Stupid noses." She said under her breath.

Nose? Odd. It must have been a nickname. But then I really look at the outfits.

My face becomes just as serious as Four's.

We would be wearing Erudite clothing, just as he was.

"Get dressed and be at the main room of the Headquarters in five minutes."

When I am in the shower. It is awful.

There are multiple buttons, and only found out how to turn on the cold water.

And finding out wasn't exactly a fun experience.

I stand there, naked, pressing buttons until my fingers hurt.

I end up giving up on the buttons and taking a cold shower.

At least I didn't smell like barf anymore. I would have to do something about the bed that I slept in.

I quickly step out and quickly dress in Erudite clothing.

I felt awful.

But at least I was clean.

I bite my lip as I enter the main room.

There is light chatter coming from all around the room, and I am sure it is about the Dauntless-Headquarters burning down last night.

Where did Tris go? She was not in the dorm when I got out of the shower. I look around the room, but I don't see her. Everyone looked the same. I could not tell them apart by their clothing, we were all wearing Erudite blue. I see a short haired Erudite man turned around, facing the opposite way. It looks like the man who sat behind the desk last night, the one who introduced us to our dorm. I tap his shoulder and he turns around, I gasp.

It is not the man behind the desk.

It is Caleb.
