As always Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima
Chapter 20
The Last Member
As the girl slowly walked into Fairy Tail, she looked around her, taking everything in. It was so lively compared to the Fairy Tail she knew, but that was probably because they had been in hiding. No one ever visited the ruined Guild hall anymore, no one except for her. Her mother said it was because it was too painful, and now she knew why. This was a place full of life and happiness, full of family.
This will soon all be gone. She fell to her knees at the thought, and she flinched when she felt someone's hand on her shoulder.
"Hey Kid, you okay?" She looked up to see a man with long black hair, red eyes, and studs in his face looking down at her.
"Not really, and remove your hand, that shoulder is broken."
"Stupid Kid." He removed his hand. "If its broken go see Wendy and get it healed."
"I don't need a healer." She snapped at the man. "I need to find a woman named Erza, and the quicker the better."
"Hell Kid, calm down. She's in her office on the second floor."
"Thanks." With that she started up the stairs only to have the man call after her, she turned to look at him and he grinned at her.
"Nice eyes, Kid, they're a little puffy though, gihi."
She smiled and ran up the stairs, patting her hat to make sure none of her hair had escaped. Thanks... I never thought I would see you again. Shows how wrong I was, gihi. She reached up and wiped away the tears that had escaped her eyes, and slowly made her way to the only two voices on the floor. As she got closer to the door she could hear what they were saying.
"Everything is going to be fine. So what if she looks like him and even laughs like him. I'm sure she will get something from you." It was a woman who spoke and she heard another person, another woman, sigh.
"I just hope she doesn't get my height." The girl stood there and her sight started to blur, but not from tears this time, but from fatigue. The fight to get to this time had taken a lot out of her. Using the last of her strength she managed to open the door, much to the surprise of the two women in the room. One of them had long scarlet hair, the other had medium length blue hair, and the scarlet haired woman stood up quickly.
"Who are you and what do you want?"
"My name is... Nami Redfox... I've come to... warn you..." Her knees gave out and she started to fall forward, only to be caught from behind.
"Gajeel! What are you doing here?" Levy asked from where she was sitting if front of Erza's desk.
"Followed this kid up here. She didn't say who she was when she first showed up downstairs. She looked like she had been in a bad fight, though, she had said her shoulder was broken. Instead of going to a healer like a sane person, she yells at me that she needed to find you, Erza." He looked down at the unconscious girl in his arms, he knew she smelled familiar, now he knew why. It was his little Nami, though he didn't know how or why.
Erza stood up and took charge. "She needs to see Wendy, right now, we need her to wake up, and we need to keep this quite until we know more."
The other two nodded and they quickly made their way to the infirmary, where Gajeel placed Nami on one of the beds, and Wendy rushed over to examine her.
"Wait. Isn't this Nami?" Wendy asked as she started her magic.
"In a way, yes. We need her to wake up. She said she came to warn us, but she passed out before she could say why." Wendy nodded, and a few moments passed and, slowly, Nami started to stir, and she slowly sat up and looked around her.
"Hello there, can you remember who you are?" Wendy asked her in a kind voice, the girl nodded and spoke.
"My name is Nami Redfox, daughter of Gajeel and Levy Redfox. I'm fifteen and ten minutes ago I became the last know member of Fairy Tail."
"The last member? How?" Erza asked in disbelief.
"The light died, I was so young I only remember bits and pieces of what happened that day. Most of what I know I've learned from the few survivors of that day."
"And what day is that?" Levy asked as she sat on the bed next to her.
"The day everyone died. The day all guilds: good, evil, every man, woman, and child in them became hunted. I came here to prevent that from happening."
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Gajeel asked from a chair.
"By telling you what little I know, and that is not to let the light die, that is all Mom told me." Nami brushed at the tears that had escaped.
"You said you were the last member of Fairy Tail. How did that happen?" Erza asked, watching her.
"That's right. Twelve years from now I'm the last member left. All the children, Bisca, Asuka, Romeo, Lisanna, and you, Mom, were the only members to make it out that day... everyone else... t-they... died. After that day we went into hiding. I grew up hearing stories of how powerful Fairy Tail had been, but everything changed in one moment. Everyone who made Fairy Tail what it was, even all the powerful members of the other guilds, were killed in one moment of surprise and grief."
Nami took the photograph out of her pocket again, and more tears fell.
"Can I see?" Levy asked.
"Of course. It was your's anyways, you gave it to me before you..."
"Before I what?"
"You died... Through the years everyone searched for a way to change what had happened, and we finally did a few months ago. The problem was it was at the headquarters of the people who caused everything. So we broke in, but things didn't go as planned. Everyone but you and me were either captured or killed along the way, but we had finally found it. The Time Bracelet." Nami held up her wrist to show a plain silver cuff, but when Levy looked closer she could see small etchings in the silver.
"It allows the wearer to go back in time to complete one mission, from something small, like buying a book before its sold out, or something large like saving someone's life. And then they go back to their own time with the changes in place."
Nami took a shaky breath and continued her tale. "Just as we found the bracelet they found us. You handed me the bracelet and this photo and told me to find Erza, that she would understand, that I had to save the light, no matter the cost. You then ran at the people who found us to buy me some time. The next thing I knew you were laying in front of me, covered in blood, telling me to go, then you d-died." Nami then broke down in tears and Levy looked at the photo.
It was old and faded, with more than a few tear stains. She looked closer and saw it was a group photo of all the S-Class mages and their families, the Rainbow Sakura trees in the background. She looked closer and saw Mira had a baby in her arms, and that Evergreen, Cana, and Juvia were bigger, Evergreen looked like she was due any day. She noticed that Lucy was alone, and that she looked sad, her smile looked forced.
"Nami, where is Laxus in here? I don't see him."
"Laxus... who is he?" Nami looked confused.
"Hold on! I have his file here somewhere!" Wendy rushed around, looking through her files, and came back and handed a photo to Nami, who took one look and covered her mouth.
"What's wrong?" Levy asked.
"I once found his photo, so long ago, and asked who it was. You told me that there had been a horrible accident, and when the light died he became trapped."
"Kid, you keep going on about this light, but we have no idea what the hell it is." Gajeel growled from his chair.
"I will tell you, not what it is but who it is, but you have to promise not to tell anyone, and I mean anyone."
"Not even Master Makarov?" Erza asked.
"Not even him, I shouldn't even be telling you guys." All four people in the room nodded and waited for her answer, which she spoke looking down at her lap.
"The light's name is... Lucy... When she was murdered in front of everyone in Fairy Tail, while everyone was fighting to save her, everyone froze. That is when they took their chance and killed everyone they could... Nobody stood a chance after that... Then they started to go after the other guilds..."
"Who the hell would do that!" Gajeel roared, knocking over his chair.
"They call themselves the Organization, and we, the ones who got away, never found out who they really were, just that they took over Fiore by force and declared that all guilds were no longer needed. That anyone in a guild, or associated with one, were to be killed on sight. So many died because of them... they need to be stopped."
"You said that there was going to be an accident involving Laxus. Couldn't you stop that from happening so he could be there to save Lucy?" Wendy asked.
"Time travel is complicated. I can only change one event. Say I save Laxus, but he doesn't save Lucy in time? I also remember Mom saying that when Laxus was gone Lucy used that time to grow stronger, so I have to let her grow, even if it means not saving him. I also never learned what happened to him, so there's nothing I can do. All I know is not to let Lucy die, though it will be some time before everything happens."
"And when is that?" Erza asked.
"At the end of the next Grand Magic Games, we can't let Lucy out of our sight during the Games. I can't get back to my time until I stop what happens then. So I guess, for now, I'm stuck here." Nami looked at the people around her. "Know anywhere I can stay for a few months?"
"You can always stay with us." Levy offered immediately, and Nami looked to her father, who nodded.
"How are we going to explain who I am, though? Everyone is bound to see the family resemblance."
"Tell them part of the truth." Came a voice from the corner of the room, and they all looked around and gasped, but when Nami saw who it was she jumped from the bed and tried to get far away.
"I-I've been seeing you in my dreams for months... why do you appear now? Why did you never come to help us when we needed you? Why!" A small iron dagger appeared from nowhere and flew at the person, who easily dodged it. "Why did you... leave us... all alone?"
She could feel tears fall, and the person walked up to her and gently wiped them away.
"I have no idea as to why I would ever leave, but believe what I say now. Anyone who dares to harm Fairy Tail will have to deal with me, for I am the one who founded Fairy Tail, and I will help protect it." Mavis turned to the others in the room. "We will tell the rest of Fairy Tail that, yes, this is Nami. That she came from the future to complete a task, but isn't allowed to talk about it or the future, and anyone who bothers her will have to deal with me. Is that okay, Nami?"
Nami nodded and Mavis smiled at her.
"Well, I guess we might as well go introduce you to the Guild. Come on, kid." Gajeel picked up Nami and tucked her under his arm. "I guess you get your mother's height after all, gihi."
"Gajeel! Don't be mean, and put her down!" Levy yelled from behind him.
"In a minute. It's time to welcome her to the real Fairy Tail." He reached the balcony overlooking the first floor. "Hey! Listen up!" The people on the floor below looked up at them. "This here is my daughter, Nami, from the future. She's going to be here for a while on a job of sorts. If anyone asks her about the future, you will not only have to deal with me, Erza, Wendy, and Levy, but also First Master Mavis. Let's give her a true Fairy Tail welcome!" With that he threw her over the railing into the crowd below.
"DAD!" Nami yelled as she went flying, losing her hat and revealing her waist length black hair. As she landed on the floor below, she glared up at Gajeel, and the members around her saw how much she resembled him.
"This is a joke, right? Shorty isn't your daughter, Nami is right over there next to Rose." She looked at the person who had spoken, and saw it was a man with pink hair. She glared up at her father.
"Can I hurt this one?" Nami pointed at the man.
"Who, Natsu? Go ahead, just don't break too much or you might have to deal with L-" Erza was cut off as Nami ran up and punched Natsu, sending him flying.
"That was for calling me shorty!" Nami yelled as Natsu stood, and several people ran to get out of their way.
"If you're really Metal Face's daughter, show me your strength!" Natsu yelled, taunting her.
Levy glanced at Erza. "We have money for repairs, right?"
"Yes, why?" Erza asked as Levy let out a sigh.
"Remember before she came into the office, I was saying how she was taking after Gajeel."
"Yes..."
"Well, I found her eating iron today..." Levy glanced at Gajeel, who smirked, and then at Erza, who sweat-dropped.
"I hope we have enough..." They turned their attention back to the fight.
Nami looked over at Natsu and cracked her knuckles. "You really want to fight, Pinky?"
"Yep. I'm all fired up now! Bring it!"
"You asked for it. Iron Dragon's Club!" Her arm turned into a long iron pole and she swung it at him, but he caught it and used the chance to send her flying into a wall.
"Had enough yet?" He taunted as she tried to catch her breath.
"Nope." She stood and faced him. "Iron Dragon's Dagger Storm!" Natsu stood there and waited for her to move, but that was his mistake. From out of nowhere, it seemed, several daggers hit him at once, sending him flying through the wall by the doors, landing in a heap in the street. Nami launched herself through the hole after him. "Iron Dragon's Flaming Fist!" Nami yelled as she took aim at Natsu, but before she could land her punch she felt someone grab the back of her shirt, stopping her before she could.
Slowly, she looked up at the person who had a hold of her and saw a large man with spiky blond hair, a scar going over his right eye, and he was glaring at her. She heard a sigh and turned to see the back of a woman with long blond hair bending over Natsu. The woman turned to look at them with her warm brown eyes.
"Great, he hit his head and got knocked out. Should we help him?" The blond asked the man.
"Nah, just leave him." The man turned to look at Nami. "I don't care why you attacked Flame Brain, Shorty, he probably deserved it, but I do want to know why you put a hole in the Guild?" He said in a menacing voice.
"I attacked him because he called me Shorty, and he put a hole in the wall because he didn't dodge my attack." Nami crossed her arms and glared at the man, her feet hanging over a foot off of the ground. "Can you put me down now, Spike Head." She heard the woman laugh and the man glared at her.
"What's so funny, Blondie?"
"Nothing... It's just, Spike Head, is a new one for you." The woman said with a smile. The man let out a sigh and placed her down.
Nami crossed her arms and glared at the two. "Not to be rude, but who the hell are you two?" They both just looked at her for a second before the man roared with laughter.
"Nice one, Shorty! You must be new if you don't know us!"
"Don't be rude, Sparky!" The woman said while glaring at the man. "Ignore him, he's like this at times when he gets done with a job, but he is right, you must be new. My name is Lucy Heartfilia, and my idiot of a boyfriend over there is Laxus Dreyar. What's your name?"
This is Laxus and Lucy? Laxus looks so strong, but what kind of accident could keep him trapped somewhere? And Lucy looks so kind and caring, who would ever try to kill her and why? Nami blinked and smiled at Lucy.
"My name is Nami Redfox. I've come from the future, though I can't say why.
Lucy gave her a warm smile and held out her hand. "Okay, Nami, I won't pry. Welcome to Fairy Tail."
