Chapter 22

Invitation

Lucy was happy, after some convincing she had managed to get some girl time, Levy and Cana had agreed to go out for an early lunch. They were sitting outside around a small table, the weather was bearable today, and they were enjoying some hot chocolate while waiting for their food.

"So Lucy," Cana began. "How is everything going with Laxus?" She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at Lucy, causing Levy to laugh at her red face.

"Everything is fine, thank you! I don't go and ask you about your sex life, do I?" Lucy snapped at Cana.

"You could, you know, but I don't think you want all the details. I will tell you that Bacchus is very magical with his hands." Cana gave her a lewd grin. "I think Laxus might want to know some new ways to make you scream though."

"He already says that I scream loud enough as i-" Lucy clapped her hands over her mouth as she realized what she was saying, much to the enjoyment to the two women, who had doubled over in laughter.

"I'm glad we aren't talking about my sex life." Levy said in a small voice.

"That's because we already know you like it rough, though we would have never had guessed it." Cana said, giving Levy a wink.

"That's not true!" Levy denied it, turning red.

"Oh, come on Levy. Everyone can tell when you tow have had sex. Its kind of hard to hide that many bite marks, not to mention all the scratches on Gajeel. We all know its you, not Lily like he claims." Lucy laughed as Levy turned even redder at her words, Cana laughing along with her, only to make a face and her hand went to her growing belly.

"What's wrong?" Lucy asked as Cana smiled a bit.

"The baby just kicked. Here." She grabbed Lucy's hand and placed it on her belly. After a few moments Lucy smiled, it was faint but she had felt a tiny kick.

Lucy smiled and asked Cana. "So has Bacchus found a place near town yet?"

"No, but he did do something else." Cana smiled and held out her hand, a diamond ring glittering on her finger, which Levy grabbed to get a better look.

"Congratulations!" Lucy squealed. "This calls for a sweet treat, I'll be right back." She got up and walked towards the café, passing the other tables, glancing at the people at them as she passed. That's weird, they're all reading the exact same magazine. She shook her head at the thought. Must be the new issue. She made her way into the little café, only to find it empty.

"Hello? Anybody here?" Lucy called out and she heard some banging coming from a door behind the counter. She walked over and opened the door, only to find the employees tied up and gaged. Instantly she ran over and started to undo one of the gags, only to have the waitress scream at her.

"Run! Run now!"

"Wha-"

"Don't worry about us, just run!" Lucy bolted out of the café, running towards Levy and Cana, only to stop dead in her tracks. All the people who had been at the tables a while ago were blocking off the area to keep everyone away. Lucy looked around for her friends, feeling her anger rise when she saw them.

They were at the edge of the street, backs to the canal, knives held to their throats by two huge men, a third, smaller man with greasy hair off to the side, a sick grin on his face.

"Well, well. Miss Heartfilia. You sure are a hard person to get alone." The smaller man spoke in an oily voice, and Lucy's hands went to her keys. "Now, now. None of that, or your friends here will have their throats cut."

"What the hell do you want!" Lucy yelled as her hands dropped away from her keys.

"Oh... Just you... And your keys..." The man glanced at his watch. "Come now. We don't have all day. Toss your keys over first, the come quietly, and we'll let your friends go."

"Don't listen to them Lucy!" Levy yelled as she struggled to get free.

"Use your keys to fight!" Cana yelled as she, too, tried to get free. "We'll be fine."

"Tch, by the time that you summon one of your spirits, their blood will be running in the street, their bodies in the canal." The man grinned. "You have no choice. Now toss your keys over here like a good girl."

The canal! I just pray that they forgive me. Not wanting to waste any time she took both of her key rings off of her belt.

"You want my keys!" Lucy yelled, holding them in front of her. "Go and get them!" She spat at the man and threw them, and they sailed over the men and landed with a splash in the water of the canal. Aquarius! Delphinus! Please help me! She silently prayed that they could hear her.

The man looked at the canal with disgust. "You!" He snapped at one of the people blocking off the area. "Go and get those keys!" Faintly, Lucy could see light coming from under the water.

"You're too late!" She yelled at the man. "Levy! Cana! Brace yourselves!"

"What are you up to?" The man yelled, looking wildy around.

"Aquarius! Delphinus! Now!" Lucy yelled and the water of the canal erupted, the two mermaid spirits emerging from the water. Glaring at the men in front of them, they let loose a tidal wave of water that washed down the entire street.

As the water receded Nami sat up and coughed out a lung full of water. She frowned as she looked down at her soaked clothes, seeing that they were completely ruined.

"Whoever did this has hell to pay!" She growled and looked around and saw Laxus off to her right, sitting up and spitting out water. She looked to her left and was shocked to see Cana tangled up in a tabled and a set of chairs.

"Oh god! Cana are you alright?" Nami rushed forward to help only to have Cana try to wave her off.

"Lucy..." She gasped. "Down there... Café with Levy... Group of men appeared... Hurry..."

"Laxus!" Nami yelled at him. "Go! I'll help Cana." Laxus nodded and took off down the street.

When Laxus made it to where Lucy was he almost laughed at the scene. Levy was fine, though she was soaked, and she was hiding behind a table tipped on it's side. Lucy, though, was in a load of trouble, she had two of her spirits fighting about her. Aquarius looked murderous, but Delphinus looked like she was about to hug Lucy, even though she was shouting at the two mermaids.

"Why did you let them escape!?"

"Why did you throw my key? You're lucky I didn't sweep you all the way down the street!"

"I'm just happy that Lucy summoned me with Big Sissy, and Sissy, Lucy had no choice but to throw our keys." Delphinus crossed her arms and pouted at Aquarius, who's expression softened a bit.

"Don't cry now..." Aquarius said with an irritated sigh. Laxus glanced at Lucy and saw she was pale and sweating.

"Oi! You two!" He yelled at the two spirits, who stopped fighting to glare at him. "Can't you two see that she is struggling to keep your gates open! If you care about her argue in the spirit world!" The spirits glanced at Lucy, who nodded, then disappeared, and Lucy fell to her knees.

"Blondie, are you alright?" Laxus asked as he rushed over and helped her to her feet.

"I'm fine, my magic has been a little off since training yesterday, that's all."

"Are you still feeling sick?"

"No, I took some medicine that Wendy gave me. She said if I still feel sick next week I'm going to have to go to a healer, though."

"What happened here?" Nami called as she finally reached them, and rushed over to her mother.

"That same damn Organization that has been hunting me showed up again. I took care of them with Aquarius and Delphinus, but Laxus, I figured something out about them this time." Lucy looked into Laxus's questioning eyes and took a breath. "Its not just me that they're after, they also want my keys."

"Well, those are two things that they will never get." Laxus growled, pulling her closer to him.

"Hey Spike Head! I'm going home with Mom, seeing as I need to change out of these wet clothes. Cana already left, and she said that Lucy owes her a favor. See ya!" She and Levy made their way home, Levy giving Lucy a small wave as she left.

"Come on, Blondie. You need to get out of those wet clothes before you catch a cold." She nodded up at him and he held her tighter and lightning traveled to their house.

When they walked in Lucy noticed a stack of mail by the door, she grabbed and started to go through it as she followed Laxus upstairs.

"Hey, there's something from Yukino here." She told him as she opened and read the letter.

"Well, what's it about?" He asked once they reached their room.

"Its an invitation to her daughter's birthday party next Saturday. Think we can make it?" Lucy asked, glancing at him as he stripped off his wet shirt, her eyes raking over his muscled chest.

"I don't see why not. I'll make plans with Gramps, seeing as it's the same day as the monthly Guild Master's Meeting. Let him know where we're going to be in case something comes up." Laxus glanced over and caught Lucy staring at him and gave her a feral grin. "Now... How about I help you out of those wet clothes?"

As Laxus walked towards Lucy, she backed up until she was trapped between him and the wall. Almost the second her back touched the cool surface, she leaned forward, tangling her lips and tongue against his. He kissed her roughly, biting at her lips, more of an attack than a kiss, but Lucy went with it. She adapted her kisses to match his, biting his lip just as sharply, and digging her fingers roughly into his shoulders as she ground down on him.

With a growl he lifted her shirt over her head, exposing her lace covered breasts, and he quickly unclasped her bra setting them free. As his thumbs reached up to her pebbled tips, and rolled over them, a low moan escaped her lips. Sighing, he joined her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his chest. With a hum of pleasure she snuggled closer to him, her fingers grazing his chest as he buried his face into her hair.

"I love you." Lucy whispered softly.

"I love you too." Laxus whispered back. More than you will ever know.
