As always Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima
Chapter 23
Party
~~ TS 1 week ~~ Guild Hall~~
Lucy waved goodbye to Wendy as she left the infirmary, she had to stop and pick up some nausea medicine for Laxus for the train ride to Sabertooth, and she had to grab Sorano's gift that she had forgotten last night. Just as she was walking over to Virgo, about to leave Fairy Tail and meet Laxus at the station, she was called over by Cana.
"Hey Lucy! I'm so glad that I caught you before you left, I'm asking for that favor you owe me."
"Sure. What is it?" Lucy asked and sat down next to Cana, and groaned as she brought out her tarot cards.
"Please Lucy... I just want to make sure my magic is acting right... Lately everyone has been getting the exact same fortune... its starting to scare me."
"Okay, but hurry, Laxus is waiting at the station." Cana nodded and quickly shuffled her cards and spread them face-down in front of Lucy.
"Okay. Pick out three." Lucy picked out three and turned them face-up, and saw Cana pale at the sight of the cards.
"What's wrong?" Lucy asked looking at the cards; the Empress, the Hanged Man, and the Tower. Quickly and quietly Cana scooped up the cards, reshuffled them, and asked Lucy to pick out another three. Lucy did and ended up with the exact same three cards, in the exact same order.
"You know what, Lucy? I think my magic is acting up. Why don't you go and catch your train." Cana told her in a steady voice as Bacchus came and sat down next to her.
"Okay. I'll see you later tonight." Lucy said as she walked out of the Guild, Virgo close behind her. Letting out a groan, Cana slumped forward onto the table.
"What's wrong, Babe?" Bacchus asked her, and she looked up with tear filled eyes. "What did her cards say?"
"They meant new life, sacrifice, and war, but that isn't all of it! I've had a bed feeling all night, and all my fortunes today, except for Lucy's, has been the same! The upside down Fool, the Hanged Man, and the Tower: disaster, sacrifice, war! Every damn time the same!" Cana yelled, knocking her cards onto the floor, and buried her head in her hands.
Bacchus bent over to pick up her cards, but stopped, his eyes going wide. "Cana..." He nudged her arm.
"No.." She moaned.
"You really should see this..." His voice trailed off, and Cana raised her head up to see what he wanted, and he pointed to her cards on the floor. When she saw them her hands flew to her mouth in horror, all of them had turned into one of three cards; the Empress, the Hanged Man, and the Tower.
Lucy... Please be careful. Cana silently prayed, hoping the cards were wrong.
~~ TS 1 ½ hours~~ Sabertooth Guild Hall ~~
Lucy and Laxus walked into Sabertooth to the sounds of a party in full swing. She looked around and smiled. Sabertooth might not have as many children as Fairy Tail, but its still lively here. Lucy glanced around, looking for Yukino, and saw her next to Sting and their two children. Little Michael, with his blond hair and blue eyes, looked like a little version of Sting, unfortunately he had no magical powers. He had been born way too early and Yukino had sacrificed her magic to save him, which is how Lucy had gotten her spirits six years ago.
Little Sorano, the three year old birthday girl, was a handful. She had her mother's looks, but her father's attitude and magic. Lucy knew she was spotted when she heard a squeal come from the little girl, and she came running at Lucy.
"Auntie Wucy!" Sorano squealed as Lucy lifted her up in a tight hug. "You made it!"
"Of course, Sweetie, I wouldn't miss it." She told the girl as they walked over to Yukino and Sting, Michael hiding behind his father, and once she reached them she placed the girl down.
"So what did you bwing me?" Sorano looked at them eagerly and Lucy tugged Laxus forward, as he had the gift bag on his arm, and laughed as the little girl jumped on him.
"Oi! I'm not your gift, brat! Your gift is in the bag!" Sorano grabbed the bag and took off with it, and Laxus sighed and sat down just as Orga walked up to him. The two lightning mages eyed each other, sparks cracking around them. Finally Orga grinned and slapped a hand on Laxus's shoulder.
"You. Me. Drinking contest. Now." Orga challenged Laxus, who looked over at Lucy, who in turn nodded at him.
"Go. Have fun. No one would dare to go after me here." Lucy reassured him, and he got up and gave her a quick kiss before walking off with Orga, all of Sabertooth cheering them on. Sting and Michael followed them, leaving the two women alone to talk.
"So how are you and Laxus doing?" Yukino asked while leaning back in her chair, signaling the bartender to bring them some beer.
"We're doing fine, though he has been acting nervous around me for a while." Lucy answered, thinking about how nervous Laxus has been acting the past week, then winced as her stomach flipped a little. Its fine. I'll just go and see Wendy when I get back tonight.
"Are you alright, Lucy? You look a bit pale."
"I'm fine, I promise." She then smiled as their mugs of beer arrived. "I don't really drink, but it's a party, so why not." She grabbed her mug and tapped it against Yukino's, quickly downing half of it. She smiled, but her face fell as her stomach flipped, more violently than last time. "Oh god... Bathroom..." Yukino pointed down one of the halls and Lucy ran down it and into the first door she found, luckily it was a locker room.
Lucy ran into a stall, not bothering to close it, and emptied her stomach into the toilet. She was still heaving when she heard the door open and a man call out.
"Rufus? Is that you again?" The footsteps got closer and she let out a moan, and the person stopped. "Wait... Lucy?" The person slowly walked up to the stall, and she looked up to see Rouge watching her. She watched as he inhaled deeply and watched as his eyes went wide with surprise.
"Hi..." Lucy muttered weakly before she vomited once again. Rouge knelt next to her, concern written on his face.
"Sting. I know you can hear me. Send Yukino in here right now." He waited a bit before he spoke again, an irritated look on his face. "I don't care if Laxus is winning, if you don't send Yukino in here right now he just might kill us both."
Not even a minute later Yukino walked in, saw Lucy and rushed over, only to be stopped by Rouge. Lucy heard them exchange a few hushed words, and soon Yukino was helping her stand.
"You're lucky you ran into the men's locker room, Lucy." Yukino started as Rouge led them through the room towards the back. "It's the only room with a side entrance so we can avoid everyone, otherwise Laxus would be worried by how you look."
"Where are we going?" Lucy asked weakly.
"To the clinic." Rouge answered as he led the way there.
"Okay..." Lucy murmured, and let the two lead her away.
"Okay Doc. What's wrong with me?" Lucy asked as the doctor came back in with the test results, and she glanced at Rouge and Yukino, who were sitting in the chairs along the wall.
"Well... There's nothing wrong exactly..." The doctor gave a nervous glance at the two by the wall. Rouge Cheney, the Black Dragon of Sabertooth, and Yukino Eucliffe, wife of Sabertooth's Master, Sting Eucliffe, the White Dragon of Sabertooth. Not to mention the patient was Lucy Heartfilia, the Light of Fairy Tail. The man gulped and tugged at his shirt collar.
"Well..." Lucy glanced at the man.
"The only thing I can think to say is congratulations, you're pregnant!"
"I'm what!" Lucy yelled in disbelief.
"Pregnant, Miss Heartfilia, and by the looks of the test you're three weeks along." The man watched as his words sunk in, and Lucy looked at Yukino and smiled.
"I'm going to have a baby." She said in a soft voice, got off the examining table and hugged Yukino. "I have to tell Laxus." She said as they left the clinic.
"You might want to wait until the booze wears off." Yukino said with a laugh. "When I left the table he was starting on his third barrel."
"He won't drink too much, we have to catch the seven o' clock train home, which is in three hours." Lucy turned and grinned at Yukino and Rouge. "Orga is probably passed out by now anyways. How much can he drink?" Rouge thought for a moment before answereing.
"The most I've ever seen him drink was twelve barrels."
Lucy laughed. "I've seen Laxus drink at least fifteen and still beat Natsu to a pulp afterwards." She laughed again at the look on Rouge's face. "Don't take it personally, Fairy Tail is a guild full of monsters, remember?"
"We remember. Just to make sure one of the monsters doesn't come after us, we might want to get back." Rouge said, slightly nervous.
"Right." Lucy agreed and followed them back to Sabertooth.
Laxus grinned as he reached into his pocked for his comm. lacrima. Orga had passed out after his tenth barrel, making Laxus the winner.
"Mira." He said to it and seconds later Mira's face appeared in the lacrima.
"Hi, Laxus, what do you need?" Mira asked brightly.
"Hey Mira. Remember what I asked you about before I left today?"
"Yes..." Anticipation laced her voice.
"Could you set it up?"
"Of course! Everything will be ready when you return!"
"Thanks Mira, I owe you one."
"Yes, you do, and good luck." With that she disappeared and Laxus sighed and looked around again for Lucy. Sting had told him that she had went out quickly with Yukino and Rouge, and he was getting worried as he waited. He sighed in relief when he saw Lucy walk in, and he ran up to her and lifted her in his arms. She responded by wrapping her arms around his neck and sealing his lips with a kiss, and several of the members of Sabertooth whistled at them. After a moment they broke apart and he set her on the ground.
"Where did you run off to?" Laxus asked Lucy with a grin.
"I'll tell you later, but for now let's enjoy the party." She smiled as she took his hand and led him into the middle of the party.
~~TS~~ 3 hours ~~ train station ~~
Lucy sighed and leaned into Laxus as their train pulled into the station. The party had been wonderful, but right now all she wanted was some peace and quite so she could talk to Laxus in private. They boarded the train, found a private compartment, and settled in. She sighed and leaned into Laxus again as the train pulled away from the station.
"Everything alright?" He asked as he took off his coat, draping it across their laps.
"Yeah... I just need to think for a few minutes, okay" Laxus nodded and settled back into his seat.
How the hell am I supposed to tell him I'm pregnant? If I do tell him, he'll never let me out of his sight... Lucy sighed and closed her eyes, different scenes going through her mind.
Lucy didn't realize she had fallen asleep until Laxus nudged her awake.
"What..." She muttered sleepily, looking up at him.
"There's something I wanted to ask you." Laxus said nervously.
"Well... before you ask, there is something I have to tell you." She sighed and prepared herself. "Laxus I'-" She was cut off by him putting his hand over her mouth. She looked up at him and saw a serious look in his eyes.
"Laxus, wha-"
"Quick, pretend to be asleep." He hissed, and she leaned against him and closed her eyes, Laxus wrapping an arm around her. Faintly she could hear two men arguing outside the compartment.
"Are you sure that's her in there?" The first man asked.
"Of course I'm sure! Now grab that and help me!" The second man told the first.
"But what will these daggers do? What makes them special?"
"Because they're coated in two different types of poison, one cut and she'll be dead in minutes." Lucy felt Laxus stiffen beside her, and could feel his magic pressure rise. She then heard the door of the compartment open slowly, and once it was open she heard the men step closer, and felt herself fly sideways with Laxus as he let loose his roar at the men, sending the men through the side of the train.
As the train screeched to a stop Laxus launched himself through the hole in the side of the train after the men, Lucy close behind him, reaching them in a clearing next to the tracks. From the dim lights of the train, Lucy could see Laxus fighting both men at once, keeping away from the poisoned blades. As he lite his fist up with lightning, one of them crashed into one of the men, sending him paralyzed into the other one, knocking them both backwards.
"Blondie!" Laxus roared at her. "Summon one of your spirits and get the hell out of here!"
Lucy shook her head at him. "I'm not leaving you!" Lucy watched with wide eyes and one of the men stood, now holding both daggers. She saw a triumph glint in his eyes as he looked at the distance between Lucy and Laxus, and threw both daggers at her, and she froze, unable to move.
Suddenly, all Lucy could see was Laxus's back, and heard the sickening thud as both daggers slammed into him. She watched numbly as he slowly crumpled at her feet, lifeless.
Hi everyone! DON'T KILL ME! *runs and hides*
