Chapter 25

The Fallen

"Is she asleep now?" It had been a silent half hour since Makarov came in, and Leo looked over at Levy, who nodded. "Good..." He ran a hand through his hair and sank onto one of the beds.

"Leo... What exactly happened?" Makarov asked in a horse voice.

"The only person who know the whole story is Lucy, but I can tell you what I know." Slowly, Leo filled the people in the room in on what happened by the train, how Laxus had sacrificed himself to protect Lucy.

"So Laxus is dead?" Erza asked.

"No." Leo said, much to the surprise of everyone. "He almost died, but we were called in time. Right now he's in the spirit world. We spirits are doing everything we can to help. Right now Lupus is analyzing the poisons used, and Lepus and Pyre are taking turns keeping him alive."

"How long is he going to be there?" Wendy asked quietly.

"Two, maybe three days." Leo sighed.

"So he'll be back later this week?" Levy asked hopefully.

"No... Two to three spirit days." He answered in a saddened voice.

"So six to nine months." Levy said, looking at the sleeping form of Lucy in her lap. "That won't be so bad for her."

"You're wrong..." Levy looked up at Leo and was shocked to see tears in his eyes.

"Leo..."

"It's going to be the hardest for Lucy, Laxus not being here." He said, looking at his owner with saddened eyes.

"Why is that?"

"She's pregnant." It was silent as the news sank in, everyone in the room looked at Lucy with grief and sadness in their eyes.

"Its almost like last time..." Erza whispered to herself, then spoke to the others. "So what do we do now?" Erza, the one who always took charge in a crisis, didn't know what to do, she felt so helpless now.

"We have to be strong." Levy spoke up. "Be strong for Lucy, for Laxus, for all of Fairy Tail. I remember you once saying, Master, that Fairy Tail is a family. A single person's happiness is everyone's happiness, a single person's anger is everyone's anger, and a single person's tears are everyone's tears. Lucy needs us now, and we have to be there for her." Levy looked at Lucy. "I will stay with her tonight, she's going to need a friend when she wakes up."

Everyone nodded, and wiped their tears away at Levy's words, and Makarov spoke up. "Levy is right! We are Fairy Tail! We will always be there for our friends, for our family, and we will be here for Lucy as well! We will let her rest for as long as she needs, but I would rather have two people stay here overnight with her." He paused for a moment to think. "Nami! Get in here!"

There was a bit of shouting outside the room, then the door flew open and they heard everything very clearly what Nami was shouting.

"Master called me, not you three! Lucy is asleep now, so you can't talk to her anyways! Go be with your families, they need you now!" She walked in and closed the door softly behind her and turned to Makarov, who started to explain, but she held up a hand to stop him.

"It's okay. I've already heard everything." Nami glanced at the people grouped around and nodded. "I'll stay here, too, tonight. Nothing will happen to her while I'm here, and I think its time that everyone leaves so she can sleep peacefully."

Everyone nodded and one by one they filed out of the room until it was just Nami, Levy, Leo, and a sleeping Lucy.

Leo turned to Levy and Nami. "Be prepared for when Lucy wakes up. I will be back when I have any news." Leo disappeared, leaving mother and daughter there, and with a sigh Nami sat on the bed opposite Levy and Lucy.

"So." Nami glanced at Levy. "Do you know where Wendy keeps the spare blankets here?"

Lucy woke up to light whispers, her cheek pressed against something very soft and warm.

"I think she's awake." A soft voice from nearby said.

Lucy opened her eyes and saw orange, surprised, she lifted her head a little and realized she had somehow fallen asleep on Levy's chest.

"Lucy? How are you feeling?" Lucy looked up and saw Levy looking at her concerned. "Nami, go and get her some food." She looked over and saw Nami nod and leave the room.

Lucy looked down at her clothes, saw them stained with blood, and her stomach turned at the sight. Quickly she ran to the bathroom and dry heaved, there was nothing in her stomach to lose.

It wasn't a dream... Lucy looked down at her stained clothes and ripped them off until she had nothing but her underwear on. She looked at herself in the mirror and sank to her knees, letting out a small whimper. There was dried blood on her face, neck, all over her hands and arms, even a bit in her hair.

"Lucy?" Levy knocked lightly on the door. "Are you okay in there?" When she didn't answer Levy walked in, and let out a small gasp. "Oh, Lucy. Come with me." She helped Lucy to her feet and led her out into the infirmary and set her on one of the beds.

Lucy watched in silence as Levy walked around the room picking up things; a few clean wash cloths, a large bowl, and a pitcher, which she filled at the sink before sitting next to Lucy. Levy filled the bowl with water, dipped the cloth in it, and gently began to wash the dried blood off of Lucy.

"Everything is going to be alright, Lucy." Levy told her. "Leo told us what he knew last night, and said that he would come back when there was any news." She looked over at Lucy and saw tears forming in her eyes, and she reached over and brushed them away. "Don't cry, Sweetie. Laxus is alive."

"He wouldn't have almost died if I had just left like he told me to. None of this would have happened..." Lucy felt Levy's arms wrap around her as she started to cry again. Suddenly the door was thrown open and Nami stood in the doorway, pale and clutching a paper bag, which she dropped.

"Mom! You need to see this right now!" As Levy left to follow Nami, Lucy looked around for something to put on, and saw Laxus's coat and slipped it on, slipping her keys into the pocket. As she made her way through Fairy Tail she noticed it was deserted, the main doors were closed and she could hear shouting from out front. Quietly, Lucy made her way out the back and quickly walked to the front of the Guild, where a crowd had gathered.

Quickly, Lucy made her way to the front of the crowd, but she was spotted by Erza, who was trying to keep the crowd back.

"No! Lucy! Don't look!" Erza roared as she saw Lucy at the front of the crowd.

"Don't look at wha-" She stopped what she was saying as she saw the main doors to Fairy Tail. The normally pristine doors were splattered with blood, and written in the blood was a message. A message to Lucy.

We will find you, Little Fairy.

You can't hide...

The Fallen will kill you,

Kill your Spirits.

When the Fairy falls,

The Fallen will rise!

Lucy could feel her anger rise with each word and she reached for her keys.

"Lucy! What are you doing?" Erza asked as Lucy walked towards the doors, to the bucket that one of the guild members had left after failing to clean it off. She peered into the bucket and saw about an inch of water in the bottom of it.

"I'm cleaning up that filth on the doors! Aquarius!" She yelled as she plunged the key into the water. In a flash, Aquarius appeared before the crowd, an irritated expression on her face as she glared at Lucy.

"Why did you call me so early! So help me if yo-"

"Aquarius! Now is not a good time!" Lucy cut her off, much to the shock of the crowd. "I just called you here for a small favor, then you can go back."

The two glared at each other for a moment before Aquarius answered. "What kind of favor?"

"I want you to clean up that filth." Lucy pointed to the blood covered doors, and Aquarius turned to read the message on the door. Suddenly, Lucy saw Aquarius go pale and she mouthed the word Fallen, but she recovered slightly and looked angrier than Lucy, and looked at Lucy and nodded.

Aquarius swung her vase behind her head, and when she brought it in front of her she let out a torrent of water so strong, that when it hit the doors it shook the ground underneath Lucy. After about a minute she stopped the water, and the doors looked cleaner than Lucy had ever seen them.

"I'm leaving now." Aquarius said and quickly disappeared. As she left Lucy slipped her keys back into the coat pocket and felt two boxes in the pocket, and she pulled them out and opened the bigger of the two. Lucy let out a small gasp at what she found.

It was a small, old fashioned key, made out of a clear crystal with a faint blue hue, strung on a delicate silver chain. She closed it and opened the smaller box, but fell to her knees at what was inside. It was an engagement ring, a thin gold band with a heart shaped diamond in the center, a smaller diamond on either side of the heart.

This must have been what he wanted to ask me last night! Both boxes fell from Lucy's hands as she started to pound at the pavement in front of her. "WHY!?" Lucy screamed out to the heavens, tears streaming from her eyes and falling freely to the ground in front of her. "Haven't I suffered enough! Haven't I lost enough people I care about! Is this some type of sick joke!" Blood started to stain the ground as her hands scraped against it as she continued to pound at it. The crowd around her didn't know how to help, they had never seen Lucy like this, they, too, were at a loss for words.

Soon, Mira knelt in front of Lucy, and wrapped her arms around her to calm her. "I'm so sorry Lucy." She pressed her hand to Lucy's back, and a small magic circle appeared, and she fell into Mira, sound asleep.

"Mira, why did you do that?" Erza asked as she walked over and picked Lucy up, Mira picking up the two boxes and leading the way back into Fairy Tail.

"Because this isn't how she should have to wake up, covered in Laxus's blood was bad enough, but to walk out and walk into another mess, it was just too much for her. Not to mention the message scared Aquarius, I know you saw that, Erza. Something big is happening, and Lucy is, unfortunately, the center of everything once again."

Mira had led them to the back of the Guild, where some of the extra store rooms had been changed into private rooms, and Erza placed Lucy down on the bed as Mira placed the boxes on the bedside table. With a sigh Mira sat down in one of the arm chairs along the wall.

"Erza, could you tell Freed and Lisanna that they have the bar today. I'm going to stay here with Lucy until she wakes up."

"Of course, but you never did say why you put Lucy to sleep."

Mira sighed and looked at Lucy before answering. "Sometimes, when you've been strong for so long like she has, tears are your only outlet. Lucy has shed so many tears in her life, and she finally had a reason to be happy, but it was ripped away from her. Laxus made her the happiest I had seen her in a long time, but he was ripped away from her right when she needs him most. I couldn't bear to see anymore of her tears, and I'm sure the rest of Fairy Tail feels the same. If Laxus was here he would tell her to stop crying, but not because she was weak, but because she would be making Fairy Tail sad." Mira looked over at Erza, and saw a tear fall from the woman's eyes.

"He would be right, but once we get over our sadness we will hunt down the people responsible for this. They will soon regret the day they ever did this to Lucy, to Fairy Tail. They are the ones who can't hide, we will hunt them to the ends of the Earth. They have angered the worst possible Guild, this is something that can never be forgiven." With a determined look in her eyes, Erza left the room, leaving Mira with a sleeping Lucy.

"Laxus." Mira whispered softly. "You had better come back soon."

~~ Spirit World ~~

Aquarius arrived in the spirit world, pale and shaking slightly. She glanced around, looking for Leo, and spotted him next to Laxus's prone form on some of Aries wool, Delphinus keeping spirit water circling around him while Lepus and Pyre worked on keeping him alive as Lupus was off to the side working on an antidote.

"Leo!" She cried out as she slumped forward, Scorpio catching her from behind.

"Aquarius! What happened?" Leo asked as he rushed towards her.

"Its Her." She managed to get out in a low voice.

"Lucy?" He asked, slightly puzzled.

She quickly shook her head. "No. Its Her, The Fallen."

Leo quickly paled at Aquarius's words, and she felt Scoripo's arms tighten around her.

"It can't be Her." Leo said in a low voice. "That would mean she's been in the human world for over five hundred years! I could barely last three! Are you sure its Her?"

Aquarius nodded. "I'm positive. Who else would hold a grudge against us Spirits, who else would try to kill us?"

Just then a little girl, about eight, walked up to them. She had long, tangled orange hair, bright hazel eyes, and was wearing a short, sky blue ruffled dress without any shoes.

"Big Brother, who is trying to kill us? And when is Princess Lucy going to get my key?" She crossed her arms and glared up at Leo.

"Soon Lea, just be patient." He looked down at his younger sister. Lea wouldn't remember Her anyways, her key had just been made when She tried to take over.

"Big Brother! You didn't tell me the rest. Who is trying to kill us?"

"You wouldn't remember her, but she is a fallen star, like I was."

"Who?" Lea looked up at Leo with the big hazel eyes, eyes full of innocence.

Leo closed his eyes, seeing Her once beautiful silver eyes turn red with hatred and anger, and shuddered at the memory. "Her name was Draco, but now she goes by The Fallen."

Hi everyone! I need a bit of your help, I'm kinda stuck on which chapter to post next. I have two that I'm debating on. Its between continuing the story with Lucy, or putting in a flashback chapter that explains how Draco became a fallen star. The flashback one will still be in the story just much later, towards the end, if I don't make it the next one. Just leave a review and tell me which one seems like a good one. Thanks and later. ^-^
