As always Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima
Chapter 32
A Promise is Kept
Nami watched in horror with the rest of Fairy Tail as the ground opened in front of them, and saw two pillars rise from the opening, someone chained in the air between them. She heard thousands of screams and gasps as everyone saw who it was. It was Lucy, Nami could see blood dripping down her outstretched arms, even some dripping down her face, and standing beneath her was the woman from the hotel room.
"Draco." She let out in a low growl.
"Hello Fairies. Are you missing someone?" Draco asked in a mocking voice, her voice magnified through out the stadium so everyone could hear.
"Lucy!" Several Guild members screamed, and Nami saw several tense up, preparing to fight.
"If you want her back, alive, come and try to get her." Draco taunted, and with a wave of her arms tens of thousands black humanoid figures appeared in the stadium, on the field and in the crowd, causing mass panic.
Across the field Yukino looked at Sting, a pleading look in her eyes. He nodded and turned to his Guild. "Anyone up for a fight?" There were several yells of agreement and he looked down at the field, at Rouge, who nodded and turned to his team.
Kagura and Milliana exchanged glances down on the field. "For Erza!" They said to each other, and they were surprised when the rest of their team nodded in agreement.
Goldmine turned and looked at Bacchus, who had been injured the other day and unable to fight today. Bacchus grinned at him and nodded, cracking his knuckles.
"Its been a while since I've fought alongside Makarov. Are you up for a fight, Bacchus?"
"Yeah, but I'm going to need a lot of booze when all this is over." Bacchus said as he stood next to his Guild master.
Hibiki looked up at Master Bob from the field, who gave him a nod. "Alright guys, looks like Blue Pegasus is fighting too."
Lyon and Sherry exchanged glances and nodded to each other. "Gray has helped us several times, its time to return the favor."
Chelia walked over to her cousin on the field and took her hand. "Time for the God to help the Dragon." She turned and looked directly at Wendy and nodded. "I believe its time for that spell, Wendy."
Nami glanced at Wendy. "What spell is Chelia talking about?"
"One that I've been working on for several years, hoping I would never have to use." Wendy said in a determined voice, the air currents shifting around her, lifting her high up into the air above the crowd, and Nami could feel the magic swirling through the stadium.
"Those who wish to fight with us, I give you the Blessings of the Sky Dragon!
The power to tear, the power to defend, the power to run!
The Blessings of the Sky Dragon shall help you, Arms X Armor X Vernier!"
All around the stadium mages started to glow with her blessing. Nami saw so many mages ready to fight, from every Guild participating today, every mage on the field glowing with her blessing. So many are willing to fight, and Lucy isn't even in their Guild. Nami looked at Draco, who looked bored, and bared her teeth at her. I made a promise and I'm going to keep it!
Nami turned to the rest of Fairy Tail, and spoke to Lisanna and Levy. "Get all the children out of here, now!" She watched as they nodded, watched as Cana handed her baby to Romeo, Juvia handing hers to Asuka.
"What are you two doing?" Nami yelled as she watched them.
"We're fighting for our family!" Cana yelled as she pulled out her cards.
"Lucy is Fairy Tail, without her the Guild isn't the same." Gray said as he stood up next to Juvia.
"Is this what you came to stop, Child?" Makarov asked, and Nami gave him a slow nod. "Then go, child, go to Lucy, we will take care of whatever those creatures are."
"I'm glad that I got to meet everyone. Its everything Mom told me and more." She gave them a tight smile and turned to Elfman. "Elfman, I need your help."
"What do you need?" He bent down next to her.
"I want you to throw me, right to Lucy." He nodded and picked her up and threw her, and she felt Wendy's blessing take effect, she felt lighter than ever, she could feel power surging through her limbs. As Nami got closer she glared down at Draco, who glared right back up at her, amusement in her eyes as she grinned.
"Come, future child, let us see what your Dragon Slayer powers are made of. If you bore me I'll kill the Celestial Mage."
Nami could feel more power surge through her as she remembered why she came to this time. I will change this time line! This version of me won't grow up running and hiding, she will grow up with her family, the family I never had!
In her mind Nami saw the Fairy Tail of her time. Her friends Rose, Alex, Isabell, and Loke, how they always pushed her to become stronger, but they were some of the first captured in the raid to get the bracelet. How Asuka, so grown up and beautiful, despite how they lived, had taken a shot meant for her. How the younger children she always called annoying had run around, causing distractions just to give her more time.
How Romeo had caught half the place on fire when Bisca and Lisanna died protecting him. She still remembered the heat of the flames that had surrounded him as he told her and her mother to run, that he would try to hold everyone back. She still remembered her mother's last words, telling her to go.
She remembered arriving in this time, not knowing what to do, who anyone was, or where to go. How everyone accepted her, how kind they were to her, especially Lucy.
"I'm not just fighting for Mom, Dad, or Issac." She whispered as her eyes narrowed down at Draco. "I'm fighting for more than just them now! I'm fighting for all of Fairy Tail." She yelled as she was almost over Draco.
Nami felt an immense magical pressure build inside of her as she was now directly over Draco. "Iron Dragon's Roar!" As she roared for the first time she expected to feel her magic decrease, but instead it got stronger, all her sadness from her past was fueling her magic now, and she now had an outlet for it, Draco.
As Nami landed in front of Draco she let out a low growl at the woman. All her roar had managed to do was shred her clothes, only a tattered scrap of a dress covered her, not a scratch to be seen on her.
"You're powerful for a human, I will give you that much, girl." She said in a disinterested voice. "But if you plan to kill me, you'll have to do better than that."
Nami straightened up, her arms turning into blades, her metal scales covering her body. "I'm not going to kill you." She growled. "I'm going to destroy you. No one will be able to find a piece of you bigger than an inch!" She screamed at Draco and rushed her.
"What are these thing made of?" Erza yelled as she cut through another humanoid, only to have more rush at her. She was about to slash through them when there was a streak of yellow light, and Jellal appeared beside her, destroying several of them.
"I don't know what they are, but they are attacking anything that moves." He nodded to the stadium seats, where everyone was rushing around in a panic, trying to get away from the attacking creatures.
Quickly, Erza transformed into her Heaven's Wheel Armor and flew off, Jellal following her in a streak of light.
Cana threw some of her cards, sending lightning crackling through several of the creatures, destroying them. "It feels good to be using magic again." She smiled over at Juvia, who had several in her Water Locks.
"Don't get distracted!" Juvia yelled at her, and Cana sighed.
"Me? Get distracted? Yeah rig-" Cana screamed as dozens of creatures popped up around her, swarming her.
"Cana!" Juvia shrieked. "Water Nebula! Water Lock!" Juvia frantically used her magic, trying to get to the woman. Finally she managed to destroy the creatures swarming Cana, and found her unmoving on the ground, more creatures appearing around them.
"Nooo!" Juvia shrieked out, sending boiling hot water everywhere, destroying the creatures that were surrounding them.
"Master!" Mira panted as she landed beside him in her Halphas Soul. "There are too many of them, I don't think all of us will survive this."
Makarov looked out over the stadium. "My brats are all fighting for our hope, its time I fight too." He said with a low growl and turned to Mira. "Mira, I need you to protect me for a bit."
"Master?"
"Its been a while since I've used Fairy Law, it will take some time to gather up the magic for it." Lucy, hold on just a bit longer.
Lucy watched Nami beneath her as she crashed, once again, into one of the pillars. Once again everyone is fighting for me, first was Phantom Lord, then came our first Games where they fought for me at times. This time, though, everyone needs a miracle to win this fight. Lucy felt tears run down her cheeks, felt their sting as they got into her cuts, mixed with her blood.
"Lucy!" Nami called out, catching her attention. "Brace yourself!"
For what? Lucy's thoughts were answered when the first dagger hit the chain, soon followed by another on the other side. The daggers kept coming until, with a scream as she fell, Lucy was free.
As quick as her daggers, Nami caught her, and as they landed there was a brilliant flash of light that engulfed the entire stadium.
Nami blinked as the light faded, and when the spots cleared she was speechless. All the humanoid figures were gone and she looked over to see Draco panting slightly. With a growl Nami rushed at her, only to be swatted into a pillar.
"Enough of this!" Draco hissed, pulling out a dagger and turning to Lucy. "I have your precious keys, and now I will have your life!" She let the dagger fly at Lucy, and Nami didn't think, she just acted, and the air was pierced by her scream as the dagger pierced the center of her chest.
As Nami fell backwards Lucy caught her, and Lucy sank to her knees, cradling Nami gently as she gazed up at the sky above her. Slowly, Nami reached out to the sky, in all her years she had never seen a sky so blue, and the light glinted off of the ring Laxus had given her, the symbol of her promise to him. "I hope it was enough... Laxus..." She whispered quietly as Lucy looked down at her with tear filled eyes.
"Nami? What about Laxus?"
"I made him-" She coughed up a bit of blood. "A promise..."
"What promise? He never told me about a promise?"
"To keep you... Safe..." She looked at her ring again. Live... How ironic that I would give up my life the same way you did, Laxus. This time, though, there are no spirits to take me away, no second chance to live... A slight glow caught Nami's eye, and she looked at the Time Bracelet glowing on her wrist, a sad smile forming on her lips.
Mom... I hope I did enough to change everythi...
