I'm gong to time jump, he's been transferred back to the small hospital where Andrea works.
Chapter Text
'Daryl if you over do things you won't get to go home,' the young male doctor warned him, 'Its a slow recovery process,'
'What if I go home, and be good?' Daryl asked.
'Daryl, I'll talk with Andrea, maybe you could try just taking a nap,' he told him.
'Don't want a nap,' he told him.
'you been thought a great deal of trauma the past ten days, you need to rest,' the young doctor tried to ell him again.
' I can rest at home, ' He was growly, he just wanted to go, today, now. 'I'm gonna pull you over every time I see your car,' he told the young doctor.
'That's nice, black mail, good job I ride a bike then,' he told Daryl. 'Sleep before I slip you something to make you sleep,'
He'd already text Carol about ten times so far, her last text was to tell him she was turning off her phone. She needed to feed Sophia and his tempter tantrums could wait. She also needed to sleep. She needed to sleep for a long time. Andrea told her she needed to sleep before she crashed and burned. She needed to relax without stressing about Daryl being needy.
He tried to ring her and it went straight to answer phone. She'd turned on the answer phone at the house which he had filled up with reasons why they should come get him to take him home. He was trying to put forward a good argument on them coming to get him. Carol already threatened not to visit today because his grump had left her in tears yesterday. She was exhausted and couldn't cope with his bad tempter.
Sophia was cutting teeth and decided to bite her during the night, and she was in pain from that. Plus she had a head ache from not having enough sleep. Andrea had the day off and let her sleep by getting up with Sophia and letting her nap basically all day. Andrea had turned on the answer phone, knowing she had her personal cell phone and her pager if she was needed.
Carol slept most of the morning, and Andrea brought her in lunch and her baby to feed, then tucked Sophia into her bed. Encouraged Carol to have a shower and go visit Daryl alone using Sophia as her excuse to come home again.
'Carol your going to crash and burn,' Andrea told her, 'You need to rest, if you don't rest your going to fall apart,'
'I need to see him, he doesn't mean to be such a grump,' Carol told her. 'He just wants to come home,'
'He not ready, he needs to chill in that bed for another week then he's going to be off work for quite some time,' Andrea told her, 'I've been through this before with Mr Grumpy pants, but he didn't have his full body replaced with blood, nor did he have a massive infection like he did this time,'
'He's doing better,' Carol thought he looked better, he was starting to eat, his shot site wasn't infected, he was going to be on antibiotic's for a wee bit longer, and they were slowly getting him up moving around. He was also having more naps than Sophia. Carol felt like she hadn't sat at home for weeks. Her gut had been churning the whole time.
'He's getting better, he's in the best place, he needs round the clock care,' she told Carol, 'We can't give him that, you can't give him that, your barely keeping it together,'
'I know, its just I know he wants to come home,' Carol told her.
Half an hour later she arrived at the hospital to see him, kissing him and handing him a book to look at. She could tell he was foul. Grumpy she had turned her phone off. She climbed up on the bed beside him ignoring his grumpy mood and kissed him again and snuggled into his good side and took another nap. Daryl couldn't believe he had been waiting for her all day and she'd said nothing but kiss him and climb up onto his bed and sleep.
She slept for a couple of hours he had to shake her slightly when her cell phone rang to go home to Sophia. Carol sat up looking at him and blinking a little.
'What?' she looked at him.
'You took a nap,' he looked at her she looked pale, ' for a couple of hours, your gotta go to Soph,'
'I fell asleep?'
'Yeah, thanks for coming, it was nice chatting with ya,' he told her, he took in her face she had dark rings around her eyes. 'Go home, don't come back tonight, I'll be ok, you need to rest,'
'I can't believe I fell asleep,' Carol kissed him and told him she would let him know about tonight, and went home to see Sophia. She didn't know if she actually felt better from all the sleep, in fact she actually felt worse. Her head was starting to ache, she was thankful she only had to drive a short way home.
