"Yoosung?" I was in a dark room. I tried to find my way out. In front of the door was my puppy. He had reverted. I ran to hold him but he barked at me.
"You don't love me anymore! I reverted to a puppy! Why Mama? Why do you not love me?" He growled and jumped at me. I woke up screaming. I looked around frantically. My heart calmed down seeing Yoosung asleep, hugging me protectively. How long had he been holding me like this? I closed my eyes again and nuzzled. I guess I feared losing Yoosung just as much as he feared losing me. I kissed him and went back to sleep.
I did not feel good the following morning. I sat up with a headache and the urge to vomit. I also felt dizzy. I got up and made it to the bathroom, and I puked. Yoosung was no where to be found. He rarely left the apartment on his own. I tried to make breakfast, but I spilled the cereal. I gave up and snuggled back in bed. A few minutes later, Yoosung walked in. I heard him set down some bags and he sighed. "Mama made a mess. I'll clean it." He shortly came over to me and nuzzled me awake.
"Yo….." He stopped me.
"Mama, I'm sorry I wasn't here, I picked up medicine and chocolate for you. Our "playtime" went to far and I made you sick. I'm sorry." I rubbed his ears. "I'll take care of you, it's my fault this happened."
"I love you..." I closed my eyes and went to sleep. If I needed anything, Yoosung got it for me. I felt a lot better around dinner time.
"I can get you some ice cream Mama." That sounded so good. I nodded. However I had the strength to walk, so we went together. I wondered if I was ready to ask my puppy to kick things up a notch. I didn't want to rush things.
The next day I was at work with Yoosung. He seemed to be in a really good mood and that made me smile. He seemed to enjoy working here. I typed up a new patients info and got the crap scared out of me when the guy from the other day showed up at the door. Yoosung immediately hid behind me. Dr. Windi walked out.
"What do you want? If you're trying to take Yoosung it's not happening." The man looked at me and placed a box down on the desk.
"This stuff belonged to Yoosung. I'm returning it to him since he's yours now." I opened the box and saw all kinds of toys and even a blanket. "I always made sure he had supplies. Even if I was an awful owner." Yoosung looked at him. "You take good care of that pup. If not I will try to reclaim him." They walked out. Yoosung grabbed the box.
"He...kept these…." Yoosung then ran into a back room with the box and locked himself in. I let him be and continued to work until it was time to go home. When I opened the door, I saw him asleep with his blanket and a toy in his mouth. I nudged him awake. He opened this eyes and got up. "I fell asleep….I'm sorry…." I kissed him and carried the box home.
As Yoosung slept that night, I began to think about the day I found him. How such a sweet and young puppy turned into a human that still considered me his mama. As soon as I brought him home, he ran all around the house and got into the toilet. I smiled remembering that. I remembered feeding him little chicken strips, and how he forced his way into bed with me. No matter what Yoosung was always my pup.
