Rick thought it would be better to tell her his news in person. She wasn't going to be happy.
'Your joking, why?' Carol asked when he told her she had been banned from going to see Ed. Taken from the visitor list to stop her from going, she sat down at the table at looked at him. 'Can you do something?'
'Ummmmmm its all been rubber stamped and the captain's signed it,' Rick told her. 'You can't go, not now until after it goes to court you can't see him,'
'Can I go under my maiden name?' she asked.
'Its all blocked, your banned if you go, your going to be in trouble about it,' Rick told her.
'Why, no one said anything the other day when I made an appointment, has Ed said he didn't want to see me?' Carol asked him.
Rick was cursing Daryl for throwing him under the bus. Making him be the one who had to tell her she was banned.
'No...' Rick left the comment hanging, Carol looked at him with wide eyes.
'If your telling me Daryl did this,' Carol looked at him, Rick gave her a half nod, 'He did this, he did this?'
'I think he thought he was helping, or something,' Rick tried to defend Daryl half arsed, 'He shouldn't have done it, but its a signed deal now you can't go until after Ed goes to court or have any contract, write letters, pass messages or anything.'
'Fine, now you pass this message to Daryl,' Carol looked around, she was so mad, upset and beside herself that she wanted to understand why Ed did the things he did now Daryl had road blocked her. Disrespected her rights to ask a question she needed to know, Carol burst into tears, she'd been trying so hard to keep her shit together and help him and he made it so she couldn't even go with him until he went to court.
Rick tried to rub her back comfort her in some way, Carol shook her head, he stopped.
'You talk to him about it, sort it out with him,' Rick tried to say, 'You want me to ring Lori get her to come out visit so you can talk to her?'
'No, no I'm not talking to him,' Carol lifted her eyes, 'I"m not, he can sit and fester in his own drama he caused.'
'Come on just go see him, I'm sure he has his reason's,' Rick tried.
'No, look, thanks, just go, tell Lori I'll ring her later,' Carol face was masked and Rick shuffled from foot to foot.
'You sure, you look, ummmmmm really mad,' Rick told her, 'Your not going to ummmmmmm do anything to him, or anything stupid?'
'No, I just need to think, can you go now, I'll be fine,' Carol told him, Rick nodded, leaving walking out to the car and looking back at the house and pulled out his phone calling Andrea as he climbed into his truck. She knew what he did and told Rick she was finishing soon and would come home to support her. Rick nodded looking back at the house he drove off.
Inside Carol was packing a bag for Sophia and a bag for her, she raided the cupboards for the baby food and some food for her, she didn't know where she was going to go but she needed a break, she had to get out of there for a night or two, she didn't know if she was running or just taking a break. She took everything loading it up in the back of his truck. She lifted in the pram and a bag of diapers. Clicked in the car seat with her sleeping daughter and started it up. She leaned on the steering wheel starting to cry.
She pulled herself together and left Daryl's house glancing in her rear view mirror and drove into town, through town and before she knew what she was doing was pulling up the Greenes drive. Jo Greene come out onto her porch and down the stairs. Carol burst into tears again and rambled incoherent ramblings about what Daryl did and she needed to get away and she didn't know what to do.
'Shush its ok, lets go have a cup of tea,' Jo told her, 'I don't know what's going on, but I can tell you something from a life long experience is that, Sometimes men are just stupid and don't use their brains,'
She moved getting Sophia out of the back of the truck and Carol pulled the pram out. She then looked at the truck remembering the tracker and rolled underneath switching the switch from on to off. Fuck him. That would teach him for telling her how it worked. She needed a total break from him. She needed to recharge her batteries to think. She was so mad at him, she couldn't help but wonder why he did that to her.
Jo fussed around Sophia and made her a cup of tea, Carol's phone was going like mad. Andrea had come home to find most of their stuff gone and now Daryl was texting her knowing she wouldn't answer his calls. She text him to tell him she was taking a few days off. She wouldn't be coming, she was near burning out. Jo took their tea, and a big fluffy rug for Sophia to roll around on on the deck out side.
'Now now Sophia, you play while Mama tells Grandma Jo all about it,' She told the baby when she put her on the blanket, Carol took the tea and sat in a old rocker chair and tried to tell her while not crying.
