Waking up, Lindsey hopped out of bed and put on her bright white dressing gown and ballet pump slippers. She glanced at herself in the mirror and groaned, shoving her brunette hair into a messy bun. She made her way down the stairs and into the living room, slumping onto the sofa and changing the TV channel to morning telly.
"Hey, I was watching that!" Kim growled, snatching the remote from her older sister.
"Give it back." Lindsey retorted, snatching it back.
"Mum, Linds won't let me watch the telly!" Kim yelled to her mother in the kitchen.
"Give it back, Lindsey. Kim was there first." Helen shouted to the girls.
"Fine." Lindsey replied angrily, chucking the remote back on Kim's seat.
"What's up with you this morning then, hey?" Helen asked, handing Lindsey a bowl of cereal but Lindsey pushing it away in response.
"Joe. Basically stood me up the other day and he's not returning my texts, I've not seen him for nearly a week." She moaned, twiddling her thumbs.
"Maybe he's just busy?" She handed Kim her bowl of cereal before leaving the kitchen.
Lindsey groaned and got up, storming back upstairs to her bedroom.
"Lauren, this has to stop. I shouldn't be doing this to Lindsey." Joe said sternly, zipping up his leather jacket and shoving on her shoes.
"But do you want it to stop? So what, it may be wrong but it's fun right?" Lauren replied, winding a piece of her blonde hair around her finger.
"I'm betraying Lindsey. This is the last time it's happened, find someone else to get your 'fun' from." He opened the door and headed out into the corridor, getting stopped by Lauren grabbing his arm.
"You don't really mean that, I know you don't. It's fun what we've got between us." She added, standing in front of him with a hand placed on her hip. She bit her lip before standing on her tiptoes, leaning in and placing a kiss on his lips.
Joe couldn't help but respond to the lingering kiss. Eventually, he pulled himself apart from her and pushed her away.
"It's over, Lauren." He opened the door to her rather large house and left quickly, slamming the door behind him and sighing deeply, glancing around as he walked down the pathway.
Lindsey was sat in her bedroom, finishing a couple of her essays on her laptop. Frustrated having spent atleast two hours on her laptop, she groaned and chucked it onto her bed. Just as she did so, the doorbell rang. Lindsey jumped up from her bed, opening her bedroom door and making her way downstairs quickly. Pulling open the heavy door, she sighed as she saw Joe.
"And where have you been?" Lindsey asked, leaning against the door frame at her boyfriend.
"I uh, had stuff to do for this garage business. Sorry babe, I've been really busy." Joe responded.
"You stood me up! I was left with your brother for two hours whilst you 'got wine.' Luckily, me and Freddie get on well otherwise you'd be in deep trouble." She replied sternly.
"I'm so sorry Linds. Mum caught up with me and dragged me to the pub." He shrugged.
"Don't worry about it. I'm busy, essays to do. See you soon." She smiled softly and closed the door, letting out a sigh of relief as she did.
Pulling out her phone from her jeans pocket, Lindsey scrolled through her contacts list and looked at the contact that was Freddie's. They'd exchanged numbers and were now rather good friends.
"L: Hi, Freddie. Are you around? I could really do with someone to talk to right now. X
F: Lindsey! Of course, where we meeting? X
L; Meet me down at the park in 15? X
F: I'll be there. X"
Lindsey grinned, placing her phone back into her pocket and running upstairs to get ready.
"I just don't get it. I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong, that he's done something wrong." Lindsey sighed, taking a sip of her takeaway coffee.
"You know Joe though, he gets himself into all kinds of things, we all do. Maybe he's just busy like he said." Freddie soothed, placing a hand on Lindsey's shoulder.
Lindsey turned and glanced at Freddie, a soft smile appearing on her face as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
"What if he's found someone else? Maybe I'm too wrapped up in university to care about relationships." She leant back and looked up at the dark sky which was beginning to fill with stars.
"Then you know where to come." He joked, nudging her playfully as he earned a chuckle from her. "I'm joking but if he ever hurts you, you come tell me alright?"
"You're such a good friend, you know that? I don't think anyone's come out at this time of night, in the dark to meet me." She chuckled softly.
"You're worth it. Anytime, anyday that you have a problem, I'll be there for you." He smiled gently at her.
Lindsey bit her lip discreetly to stop herself from basically grinning. She turned away from him for a second before looking back at him. They gazed at each other for a moment or so before both leaning in to kiss when Freddie's phone began to ring, Lindsey immediately pulling back.
"It's mum, probably having some kind of family dinner." He scoffed. "I uh, I better get going. Remember what I said, okay? I'm always going to be here for you."
"Thankyou, I really appreciate it." Lindsey responded, standing up and chucking her coffee cup into the bin beside the bench. She straightened her coat and looked back over at the male. "See you soon, yeah?"
"See you soon." He mirrored. Lindsey pulled him into a lingering hug before managing to tear herself away from him. She turned on her heels and made her way back down the pathway.
Arriving home to the sound of arguing as usual, Freddie stepped into the Roscoe house. He had to wipe the smile off his way, he hadn't stopped smiling since leaving Lindsey. If it wasn't for Sandy's phonecall, the pair would've made their first moves.
"Come on, bruv! Foods on the table!" Ziggy yelled, Freddie quickly hurrying into the kitchen, taking a seat at the table.
"Where've you been all night?" Joe asked, sitting beside his brother.
"Oh, nowhere. Just went for a walk." Freddie replied, shrugging his shoulders. "What's been going on with you and Lindsey lately?"
"Nothing, why? Have you seen her?"
"No, she texted me earlier. Seemed a bit upset."
"Texted you? What? You two exchanged numbers?" Joe said angrily.
"Chill! We're just friends. Don't worry, I'm not going to steal her. She loves you."
"Boys, now now! No arguing at the dinner table, be happy!" Sandy exclaimed, sitting down and tucking into her food.
Joe turned to Freddie and glared at him with that deadly look. Freddie glared back before hearing his phone chirp, pulling it out of his pocket and looking at the screen discreetly under the table.
"L: Thanks for tonight, I'm so lucky to have a friend like you. We must do it again soon. X
F: My pleasure, you know where I am if you need me. We'll set a date, it'll be fun. X"
A/N: So, I didn't know what to do with this story and I'm not sure if I'll definitely be carrying it on but I've chucked in an affair with Joe to add a bit of drama. It's all a bit weird at the moment as I'm unsure what I'll be doing but hopefully I work out what to do eventually!
