Lindsey stood in the kitchen of her family home where she lived with her mum, dad and sister Kim. She made herself something to eat and a drink, taking a seat at the breakfast bar as she pulled out her phone from her pocket as it buzzed. Sighing, she put in her passcode and saw Freddie's name.
'F; Hey, I think we should talk. X'
She stared down at the text and her heart almost skipped a beat just seeing that it was Freddie. She knew exactly what he was talking about.
'L; About? X'
'F; Last night – the kiss? X
L; Do we have to..
F; I think so, you're with my brother! We need to work this out.
L; Fine, fine! I'll come over to yours in an hour?
F; No-ones here so sure. See you then.'
Lindsey groaned, shoving her phone back into her jeans pocket and pushing her plate away from her. She jumped up from her seat and shoved on her white converse pumps, her parka coat and grabbed her bag before leaving the house, locking up behind her and jumping into her car.
Arriving at the Roscoe house, Lindsey grabbed her bag and stepped out of her car, locking it. She walked down the pathway and knocked on the large wooden door, waiting for an answer.
"You better come in." Freddie said quietly, pulling the door open as he stepped out of the way for Lindsey to come in.
Lindsey nodded gently and stepped in, hanging up her bag and coat as she followed Freddie into the kitchen. Twiddling her thumbs awkwardly, she sighed and looked at the floor.
"Linds, we can't do this. We can't act like nothing has happened because it has." Freddie spoke softly, leaning against the worktop as he crossed his arms.
"Last night – I should've never kissed you, I'm sorry." Lindsey replied quietly, sitting on the bar stool.
"So, what you're trying to say was that it was a mistake." He added, looking at her intently.
"Yeah.." She glanced back up at him, her eyes meeting with his. "Hang on, no. It wasn't a mistake, I wanted it to happen but I'm with your brother, its wrong."
"Lindsey, I meant everything I said last night. About how amazing you were and you deserved so much more than Joe. Anyone is going to be lucky to have you but Joe? He's taking you for granted."
"And how do you know that? I know I doubted him last night but he isn't like that, I know he isn't."
"And how do you know that?" He mirrored. "Can you really forget what happened? Was it just a spur of the moment thing?"
"Of course not. I wanted it, ever since I first saw you open that door and invite me in. I feel so much more connected with you than Joe but I can't let anything between us happen, not again."
Freddie sighed quietly, uncrossing his arms and walking over to her. He lifted her chin up so she was looking at him before making his move, pressing his lips to hers and to his surprise, she reciprocated. Pulling away from him, Lindsey took a step back.
"We can't do this! What if someone comes home?"
"Then we put all the blame on me, say I made a wrong move. You want this, don't you?" He moved a strand of her hair from her face, placing it behind her ear.
"I want this more than anything, I want you more than anything." She breathed, looking up at the male. "But this is so wrong, I can't do this to Joe."
"Nobody else has to find out, do they? This can all stay between us." He whispered.
Just hearing that sentence, Lindsey wrapped her arms around pulled him down into a long, lingering, passionate kiss. Caught up in the moment, the pair didn't hear the front door opening.
"Anybody home?" Joe called out, closing the door loudly behind him.
Lindsey reluctantly but quickly pulled herself away from Freddie, standing straight as Freddie did the same, standing beside each other awkwardly.
"Hey, what are you two doing together?" Joe asked, placing his keys on the kitchen table.
"Oh, I um. I just came to see you and you weren't here so me and Freddie just had a chat y'know." Lindsey flashed a smile at Joe, feeling the tension between the three.
"Right. Fred, do you wanna go make yourself scarce? I want to see my girlfriend if that's okay?"
Freddie held both his hands up and quickly left the kitchen, glancing back at Lindsey as she looked at him, smiling apologetically discreetly.
Lindsey ended up hanging around at the Roscoe's for a few hours, curling up on the sofa beside Joe as they watched a movie and ate junk food. Lindsey couldn't help but wish that it was Freddie that she was with, not Joe. Hearing footsteps, Lindsey looked up to see Freddie looking down at her and Joe.
"It's getting late, I better go." Lindsey said awkwardly, quickly standing up from the sofa and putting her converse on.
"You're welcome to stay you know?" Joe said, standing up also.
"I better get home, mum and dad'll freak out if I'm not back. Another time though, yeah?" She flashed a smile at her boyfriend, pulling on her parka coat as she stood on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on his lips.
"I'll see you soon." Joe smiled over at Lindsey as she headed out into the hallway, leaving the house.
As Lindsey was about to leave, she felt a hand grab her arm gently, turning around to see that it was Freddie and not Joe. She let out a gentle sigh as she looked up at the male.
"What do you want, Freddie?" Lindsey asked, crossing her arms and wrapping her coat further around her.
"Earlier on, that kiss again. What do we do?" He asked, keeping his eyes locked with hers.
"It was a mistake, I shouldn't have kissed you back and it won't happen again." She said sternly, turning around and walking back to her car.
