Lindsey stood up from her desk, placing her revision books into her nautical over the shoulder bag and putting on her black blazer. The bell had rang for the summer holidays at university and Lindsey couldn't have been more relieved. Shoving her bag over her shoulder, Lindsey made her way out of the lecture room and off of campus, coming to a halt as she saw Freddie standing at the doorway.
"Well then, summer's here." Freddie said, grinning as he looked around.
"What are you doing here? I thought Joe was coming to pick me up today?" Lindsey asked, clutching her bag tightly.
"He said he had some work at the garage to do so I said I'd come and get you. You don't mind, do you?"
"Of course not, I just. This might be a bit awkward." She grinned awkwardly, making her way down the path of the university, Freddie following behind.
"It doesn't have to be awkward you know? We can forget about everything that happened and start again?" He said, unlocking his car and jumping into the drivers side.
"I think forgetting would be the best." She sighed, shoving her bag on the floor of the car and climbing in the passenger side.
"Right then, that's that. Forgotten, it never happened." As much as it pained him to say it, Freddie knew he had to. Starting the car, they drove to the Roscoe's.
"Thanks for picking me up, Fred." Lindsey said, walking up the pathway to the Roscoe house.
"Hey, don't thank me. Whenever you need picking up and Joe isn't around, give me a shout, yeah?" Freddie replied, shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked beside her.
"I'm really glad we managed to sort things out. I was really harsh to you before." She stopped, turning to look at him. "I shouldn't have spoken so badly to you and I'm sorry."
"Honestly, don't worry about it. What we did was wrong anyway, it should've never happened and it won't ever happen again, I know you love Joe." He plastered a fake smile onto his face.
"I do love him and that's why nothing can happen between us. You know how I feel about you, that connection we have but we've gotta try and forget about that and get back to normal.
"Exactly. We just put all of these mistakes behind us and it stays there."
Lindsey nodded gently and smiled, leaning up to him and pulling him into a soft hug, resting her head on his shoulder as she did. She wanted to stay like that forever, in his arms and only his arms. A minute of so later, she reluctantly pulled out of the hug. Freddie smiled gently back at her before opening the door to the Roscoe house, stepping in with Lindsey following.
"It's a bit quiet in here isn't it? Usually mental with the twins running around." Lindsey chuckled, closing the door behind the pair and hanging up her coat and bag, kicking off her shoes as she did.
"Mum took 'em to the zoo or something, Ziggy's god knows where and Joe, well. He's somewhere around the town."
Lindsey chuckled again, making her way into the living room.
Stepping into the living area, Lindsey gasped as she saw Joe and one of her friends from junior school in a passionate kiss on the sofa. Freddie followed behind, stopping behind Lindsey as the pair stared in shock at the other two. Joe pulled away from Lauren, pushing her away as he saw Lindsey, the look of guilt on his face.
"It isn't what it looks like, Linds." Joe stuttered.
"Save it." Lindsey glared, her voice cracking as she spoke.
Lindsey quickly ran out from the living room, putting her pumps on. She ran out of the house, slamming the door behind her as she leant against the door, falling to the floor as she placed her head in her hands. Somehow, she couldn't sob. She wasn't sad, she was just angry and hurt. Angry that Joe had betrayed her. 'Maybe it was for the best? Maybe now she could get Joe out of her life and tell Freddie how much he meant to her?' was the thoughts running through her head.
Freddie sighed angrily, grabbing Lauren's arm and pulling her up from the floor. He basically dragged her through the house but careful enough not to hurt her in anyway. He opened up the back door, shoving her outside and locking it.
"How could you do this?" He yelled at his brother, knowing how it would hurt Lindsey.
"It wasn't supposed to go on, I didn't-" But before Joe could finish his sentence, Freddie spoke up again.
"You're supposed to be the mature one out of all of us and yet here you are, betraying your girlfriend and sleeping with someone else. You know what? I can't be bothered to lecture you." Freddie stormed out of the front room, his older brother grabbing his arm.
"You've gotta let me explain. I've gotta explain it to Lindsey." Joe begged.
Freddie shook his head, shaking Joe's hand off his arm and stepping out of the house, seeing Lindsey sat on the doorstep. He sighed and sat down beside her, pulling her into his chest as she cried softly. Freddie kept his arms wrapped around her as she couldn't help but cry at how Joe had hurt her.
