Stepping into the living area, Lindsey gasped as she saw Joe and one of her friends from junior school in a passionate kiss on the sofa. Joe pulled away from Lauren, pushing her away as he saw Lindsey, the look of guilt on his face.
"It isn't what it looks like, Linds." Joe stuttered.
"Save it." Lindsey glared, her voice cracking as she spoke.
Hearing the door open, Lindsey wiped her eyes and moved away from Freddie, looking up to see Joe standing infront of her. She scoffed and stood up, glaring at him as Freddie did exactly the same, almost guarding her.
"Linds, you've gotta listen to me." Joe said, walking over to her and taking her hands, Lindsey quickly stepping back away from him.
"I knew it! I knew that you were somewhere else with someone else." Lindsey yelled, holding back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. "Why did you do it?"
"It was supposed to stop! I told her I didn't want it to happen anymore!" He yelled back.
"And that's why I walk into your living room to see you basically ripping the clothes off of my old best friend? Yeah, I believe every word you're saying."
"I'm going to leave you two to it. Just shout me if you need me alright? Don't let him hurt you." Freddie said, flashing a smile at Lindsey before darting indoors.
"Please, Lindsey. I'm sorry I just – "
"I wasn't enough? You know how hard I'm working to become a doctor, it takes up so much time! So because I wasn't around, you thought you'd go behind my back and find someone else?"
"It's not like that I promise. If you just listen to me, we can talk and I can explain. We can work through this, I know we can."
"No we can't." She spoke, wiping a lone tear away from her cheek. "This is over, what we had is over."
Lindsey looked at Joe before walking indoors, picking up her bag and shoving her coat back on as Freddie stopped beside her, placing his hand on her arm.
"Are you alright?" He asked, looking at the brunette.
"I just found out my boyfriend is cheating on me and then broke up with him, I'm perfect." She said sarcastically, looking up at him. "I'm sorry. I'm going to go, I need to clear my head and there's a big end of summer party with my class. I'll see you later."
Freddie nodded, watching Lindsey as she left the living area and straight out of the house. If there was only one thing he could do to help her, he would but there wasn't.
Later on that evening, Lindsey made her way through the town alongside a few of her university friends. The end of year party was always a big celebration but Lindsey had never been into doing that kinda stuff. She trailed along behind the girls, glancing around the streets blankly as she thought about the previous things that had happened in the day.
"Hello stranger." A deep voice said from behind her, Lindsey jumping as she turned around to see Freddie standing infront of her.
"What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?" Lindsey joked, chuckling as she looked up at the male.
"Nah, I was out with Zig and a few college mates but I kind of lost them..somewhere." He said, glancing around to look for the others.
"Funny that, I'm with that lot." She added, gesturing to the group of drunk girls behind her.
"You not one for drunken nights out then I take it?"
"Not my style. Takeaway and a movie though, that's more me."
"Then why don't we do that? We can go back to mine or something, get a takeaway and watch some cheesy chickflick? I'd prefer that than being out with this lot."
"I'm not sure Joe would want me around – it's a lovely idea though. I mean, we could go to mine? My parents have taken my little sister away for some school trip camping thing so I've got a free house for a couple nights?"
"Well, that's fine by me. Let's do that – I'll tell you all about how Joe was not good for you and this was all for the best, cuddle you and make you feel better?"
"Sounds like the best night in to me. Just as friends though, right?" She looked at him, grinning as she pointed a finger at him.
"Just friends." He mirrored, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as the pair walked along together.
"Psst, Linds." Freddie whispered, nudging Lindsey who was curled up under a blanket and had fallen asleep with her head resting on his chest.
"Hmm?" Lindsey said sleeping, looking up suddenly.
"The film has finished – you fell asleep ages ago." He chuckled.
"I'm so sorry, you just had to sit through another hour of that without me." She sighed, giggling a little.
"It's fine. As long as you were happy, I was going to sit through that, whether you were asleep or not!"
"Hey, thanks for staying with me tonight. I feel so much better after that junk food binge and cheesy movie, well. I slept but you know."
"Anything for you. I'm just glad you feel better. Look, I better get off, mum'll be wondering where I am. Can I just use the bathroom?"
"Of course, top of the stairs, first right." She smiled, Freddie nodding and headed upstairs. Lindsey sighed, heading up behind him as she shoved her bag and coat from earlier into her room.
Lindsey checked her phone to see a bunch of text messages from Joe, sighing deeply as she chucked her phone to the otherside of the room. Hearing the bathroom door open, Lindsey stood up as quick as a lightning bolt, seeing Freddie.
"I'll see you soon, yeah?" He said, shoving his hands into his pocket.
"Freddie?" She whispered, biting her lip discreetly.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
Lindsey shook her head and stood on her tiptoes, pressing her lips against his and just as she was about to pull away, she felt him responding for a second before he quickly pulled back.
"I thought we were just friends?" He spoke, Lindsey resting her forehead against his.
"Let's forget about that. I want you and I know you want me." She whispered, looking up at him.
"But Joe-"
"I'm not with him anymore, I can do what I want. And what I want right now is us."
"But-"
"But nothing."
She leant up and crushed her their lips together, him reciprocating as the pair found their way to Lindsey's room. Practically ripping the clothes off eachother, Lindsey smiled into the passionate kiss as she pulled herself away from him and kicked the door shut before wrapping her arms around his neck as she kissed him again, the two of them getting lost in the moment.
