Communique for Leonard McCoy from Pavel Chekov.
Hello Leonard,
How is New York? I am not sure why you chose to study there, Starfleet has an amazing medical research facility in Moscow. I wish I was in Moscow, not that I don't like where I am. Germany is nice I suppose.
I wanted to ask you something. There's this girl. Her name is Annika. She's nice with a little bit of-oh I don't know the word, I'll ask my roommate (Do you have a roommate? Mine's an ensign named Richard Paulson).
Richard says she is spunky. I don't know what that means, but he says it describes Annika. Should I ask her on a date? I don't know, what do you think?
I get treated ridiculously here. Even the ensigns boss me around. Speaking of which, I switched sifts with Ensign Kriner, so must go.
Sincerely,
Pavel Chekov.

Pavel,
You're asking me for advice on girls? I can tell you right now, that is a very bad idea. Go ask Sulu, or better yet ask Uhura.
And don't let the ensigns boss you around, they're not allowed to.
I don't have a roommate, thank God! With ym luck I'd get someone more obnoxious than Jim used to be.
Feel free to send another letter, I'd like to know how this thing with Annika turns out, is she in Starfleet?

Communique for Nyota Uhura from Christine Chapel.
Dear Uhura,
I HATE YOU! Okay not, really. BUT REALLY?! You couldn't be bothered to warn me that I was going to be at the same base as Spock? And I know you knew where he was going!
On a different (and less frustrated note) it's so nice to be near home again. I haven't seen my parents and Diane (you know, my kid sister) in such a long while and now I can see them once a week.
The CMO here is nuts! But I like him anyway. He calls me cadet all the time, but never treats me like one. He treats me as full-fledged nurse, and it's wonderful.
I could write you a really long letter, but I'd prefer to actually talk to you. Call me sometime? Okay, Bye!
Love,
Christine Chapel
Kirk was sitting in the mess hall on The Amazment with the group of ensigns he had been hanging around with. He stood up.
"I should go, I'm on Gamma shift tonight in engineering."
"You are working Gamma shift and yet you remained here socializing?" said Neeraz.
"Oooh, you're going to be dozing all night." said Joan.
"I'll be fine." said Jim. "See you tomorrow.
"Goodnight." said David as Jim left the room.
Kirk headed to engineering and relieved the lieutenant who had been on duty. He sat down. He probably could doze without anyone caring, there was never anything to do on Gamma shift in engineering. Unless there was an emergency, in which case the sirens would wake him up anyway.
It's funny how shifts get dealed out. Some people work regular hours, and then some of us work random shifts. I wonder how that's arranged? The computer probably sets that up. But what is the program broke down? I guess someone would some just opening it and repair it.
"That's it!" he said aloud. That's how I'm getting on the bridge!
Spock sat at a table in the mess hall. He was talking to Christine Chapel.
"But how could that work?" asked Christine. "All mammals on Earth have red blood. But you're telling me that not all mammals on Vulcan have green blood. But that would imply that somewhere along the line, two entirely different simple organisms, maybe even back at the single cell stage, or even farther back, evolved almost exactly the same, except one developed blood that had copper and one with iron."
"That is the current theory." replied Spock. Christine sighed.
"I am going to fail advanced exobiology." she said.
"On the contrary, you came to the correct conclusion with only a small piece of information. You have already proven your skill in that area."
"I'm not so sure. But it's nice of you to say so."
"I am merely stating facts." said Spock. "If the opposite were true, I would say so as well." Christine looked over at the clock hanging on the wall.
"I should go. I'm going into the city tonight to my parent's. Bye, Spock."
"Goodnight." she smiled and left. Lieutenant Parse got up form his table and sat across from Spock.
"Alright, Cadet. Who is that?" asked the older man
"Cadet Christine Chapel."
"Is she your girlfriend?"
"No."
"Really? It seemed like it."
"We were merely having a conversation." Parse shrugged.
"If you say so. I'll see you in the morning." he left. Spock also left. This was the second time he had been asked if he was in a romantic relationship with Christine, and this was only the third week he had been there.
He reached his quarters. He read for a while before turning out the light. It was so quiet. Normally he would still be talking to his James and Leonard, of listening to them argue. Perhaps James would decide that instead of sleeping, or studying, they should go to a bar, most likely the Launching Pad, and spend the evening and part of the night there. To which Leonard would either attempt to get James to change his mind (an often futile pursuit.) or agree to James' plan.
He realized he wanted the noise and the illogical banter his academy roommates provided.
Yeah, I'll miss him too. Leonard had said the day they left. Spock now saw that he had been correct: Spock did miss them.

Hey guys.
I hope you're doing okay. I still love it here, even after almost three weeks. I found a way onto the bridge, don't ask how (especially you, Spock!). So I'll work Gamma shift up there in three days (it was the soonest I could manage).
Oh! And I have a date tonight. Paula Westby. She's funny, athletic, pretty hot, and not much older than me. This is her first assignment. Wish me luck!
-Jim
I'll have more up soon! Because I'm full of ideas, just bristling with them! (props to those who spot the quote).
And I just got into 'Merlin' and I am absolutely loving it! Okay, that's it! Bye!
