Sorry for the wait. Enjoy!
Bones materialized on a transporter pad. Spock was standing there. They had (miraculously) agreed to meet up and go see Jim, as The Amazment was at Utopia Plantia, and it's crew had been sent back to Earth.
"Hello, Leonard."
"Hi, Spock, how's the hearing going?"
"My part in the proceedings is finished. However, I am not expected back on the Martian base for a few days."
"Then you're staying?"
"Yes."
Both boys walked to the hospital. They went in.
"Can I help you? asked the lady sitting at the desk.
"We're looking for a member of The Amazement crew." explained McCoy. "Cadet James T. Kirk."
"Names?" she asked.
"Leonard McCoy and Spock." she typed something into her computer.
"He's just been discharged."
"Where is he?" asked Spock
"When I said just discharged, I meant just right now. Three minutes ago. So he's still in the building."
"Spock! Bones!" as if on cue, James had walked in. He ran up to the other boys.
"Jim!" Bone clasped his friend's hand. "how are you?" Jim's smile disappeared.
"I'm alright." he said. "Come on, let's go." he smiled at the secretary on the way out. She blushed.
"Have a nice day!" she called out.
"Do you have to do that to every girl, Jim?" said Bones, once they were outside.
"I can't help it if I'm charming." Jim shrugged.
"And I fail to see why you care, Leonard. As you are in a relationship currently." said Spock.
"Yeah! When do we get to meet Emony? And I wanted to tell you, there's this engineer from The Amazement who's into old pop music and he-"
"Jim." said Bones. "That can wait a sec, you still haven't answered my question."
"What question?"
"Leonard asked you how you were?" said Spock.
"I told him I was alright."
"And you were lying." countered Bones. Kirk started walking again.
"I was finally entirely off the hook about the stunt I pulled on the bridge. I was manning the transporter room when we were attacked. We weren't even in their space! Bye the time I got to my battle station in engineering, there was damage in almost all the corridors. We came so, so close to losing the warp core. we drove them off, but god it cost a lot! Sickbay was severely damaged, which made things worse. Sickbay and engineering."
"Did you know anyone who died?"
"Ensigns Paula Westby and Neeraz. And we lost our second officer." Jim looked back and forth between Spock and McCoy. "I wish I could say I'm glad it's over. But it isn't. There's still friends in the hospital, condolences, grieving families. And the damn Klingons! They escaped!" Kirk bit his lip. "Sorry."
"You've been through a lot. We get it, right, Spock?" asked Bones.
"Indeed." Kirk gave a small smile.
"We need to figure out what to do." he said. "We only have a few days before Spock goes back to Mars, and who knows what they're gonna do with me! I should probably go se my folks too." Bones yawned,
"Sorry, I worked pretty late last night."
"You know what you could use?" asked Kirk rhetorically, "a trip to The Launching Pad. Let's go!" he took off running.
"Spock, he's insane." said Bones.
"I believe his mind is sound. Yet he somehow manages to avoid using it." said the Vulcan, his eyebrow raised.
"Come on!" James yelled. McCoy and Spock ran after him.
"James, I do not understand why you insisted upon coming here at this time." said Spock. He and Kirk were walking toward McCoy's apartment. It was eight a.m in New York, and five in San Francisco.
"You would've been up already, and this'll surprise him more." said Jim. "Okay, I think this is his apartment." Jim rang the doorbell.
Leonard was not the one to answer the door. Instead it was a young woman with short blond hair and leopard spots on either side of her face.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hi, um," Kirk stumbled over his words. "I'm James Kirk, and-"
"-this is Spock." she finished. "Hello! It great to meet you, I'm Emony. Come in! Leonard! Your friends are here!" Bones stumbled into the room, trying to pull on his shoe while walking.
"Good morning, Bones." said Spock.
"Hey, Spock, Jim. He said, final standing up straight. "What the heck are you doing here?"
"We came to see you."
"Isn't that nice." said Emony. "I've been wanting to meet you! Unfortunately, I need to leave, I have gymnastic practice. Maybe after work, today we can all do something?"
"That'd be nice." said Kirk.
"Great! I'll see you this afternoon, all three of you." she kissed Bones and left.
"Well then, Bones." said Jim. "She's awfully pretty."
"-shut up, Jim. Bones flopped into a chair, Spock sat on the couch. Kirk decided to sit on the coffee table."
"Correct me if I am mistaken," said Spock, "But aren't human couples normally married before living together?"
"You can shut up too, Hobgoblin."
"I was merely making an observation."
"But really, Bones. She sorta gave off a good air. Like she's someone you can trust and like."
"She's both." said Bones. "And the end of this semester is going to suck because that's when she has to go home. To Trill. Chekov has better luck of making a lasting relationship with the girl he's chasing then Emony and I do."
"Is she joined?" asked Spock.
"Yeah, she's the third host, second girl."
"Host?" asked James.
"Long story, I'll tell you later." said Leonard. "You know, I have to go to work today."
"We know, and I'm going home for a few hours." said Jim.
"Then why'd you come here?" groaned Bones.
"I asked him the same question, Leonard." said Spock.
"Simple. I came- and dragged Spock along with me-to make sure we got a chance to all hang out together before Spock leaves." he stood up. "When should we come back?"
"Six?"
"Okay, Bye, Bones."
"Bye, Jim. See you tonight, Hobgoblin."
"Goodbye, Leonard." Kirk and Spock left.
I now leave it in the capable hands of my reviewers to decided whether to show these three (+Emony) hanging out, or to just cut back to Spock on Mars. Either way, I think this semester is getting long-winded and will soon be drawn to a close so they can all be back at the academy (see what I did there?)
