So at the end of the last chapter I forgot to mention to awesome people: Bergamasque (who is translating this story into French) and Magi(guest). Thanks for your support!

Leonard sat on his bed in his academy room, it felt like he hadn't been there in forever. So far he'd just gotten here, put his stuff away and sat down.

I wonder where Jim and Spock are?

Five minutes later, the door opened, Jim came in, singing.

"Ohhh! oh, oh, oh, oh! Called me up again last night! And Ohhh! Oh, oh, oh, oh!" Kirk grabbed Leonard's hands and pulled him up, "this time, I'm telling you, I'm telling you!"

"I thought you said you were over pop music!" yelled Leonard.

"Changed my mind! We-eee! Are never ever ever-"

"No!" Stop singing!" he said. "I was actually looking forward to seeing you!" Jim stopped.

"Seriously? Wow. Me too, looking forward to seeing you, I mean. How'd the end of your training go?"

Leonard sat back down. "Fine, I guess."

"Ohhhhh. Right, Dax." he said.

"We're not trying to carry on a long distance relationship before you ask. Just forget about her for now." he said. "how 'bout you? How's your family? And where is that pointy-eared hobgoblin?"

"He'll be here in, like, an hour." said Kirk, he flopped backward onto his bed. "I love this room. I think this bed is more comfortable than my one at home. Oh! and my family is okay. I got to see my brother. And my dad is retiring."

"Oh." Kirk sighed.

"I'm turning on the radio."

"No! No you are absolutely not!"

"Awww, Bones!"

"Fine, whatever. I don't care, I guess I got my three-some months of peace and normal-ness, and that's all I'm getting until we graduate. So go ahead and play whatever kind of ancient 'music' you please. I'm getting started on my report." Kirk laughed.

"I missed you, I missed your surliness and sarcasm, and your work ethic."

"I missed your inborn inability to make someone forget why they were about to smack you upside the head." said Bones.

"Really? I can do that?"

"Well, seeing as I have yet to smack you upside the head, yes, you do." both boys stared at each other and then burst into laughter.

They were both glad to be back.

"Spock, there's something else we need to speak about." said Amanda. Spock nodded. It had been three days since he had returned. He had finished his end-of-semester report on his training, and in two days, he would have to be decided on whether he would be spending his summer at the academy, or leaving.

It had been interesting spending such a significant amount of time with Leonard and James again, but he was unsure whether he wanted to spend his summer by himself since they were both going home.

"Spock, are you coming home?" asked his mother. "I wish that you would, even just for a short time."

"I have been invited to spend the summer with the Kirk's." said Spock. "However if you think that it is most logical for me to return to Vulcan-"

"-it not about what's best Spock. Whether you spend the summer with Jim, or at the Academy, on Vulcan, or some combination thereupon are all equally logical choices. I just want to know if your coming home, and I miss you." she put up a hand, "emotional, I know, but you can excuse your human mother that."

"I know. And my plans are currently to accept the Kirk's invitation for most of the summer. However, I intend to return to the academy earlier than James. Perhapse... I could come to Vulcan for part of the Earth month of August." Amanda smiled.

"That would please me."

"I will inform the Kirk's. And the dean." Spock held up his hand in the Vulcan salute.

"Peace and Long Life."

"Live Long and Prosper, Spock." And Spock cut off the transmission.

"And here we are, parting ways again.." said Kirk.

"Jim, You made us save our transporter credits, all year so that we could send the summer going back and forth between each others houses, and to go visit other people, and Spock is staying with you." said McCoy. "This is hardly parting ways."

"Maybe not. But still. Bye Bones." Kirk picked up his bag. "You ready, Spock? We should get down to the Transporter room, Chris is probably already waiting for us."

"See ya both in a few days." said Leonard. Kirk nodded at left the room with Spock.

"So you're really gonna go home for a while this summer?" asked Kirk.

"My mother requested I would, I have no logical reason not to." said Spock.

"What about your father?"

"What about him?"

"Spock, it's not as if you've kept it secret that you and him don't get along. Aren't you concerned at all?"

There is no logic in worrying about such things. I am going back to Vulcan briefly, and my father does not even need to associate with me at all if he doesn't want to." Kirk sighed.

"Maybe- you should. Do you really want to not have him in your life? I couldn't imagine life without my dad."

"There is a distinct difference in your relationship with your father, and mine with Sarek." said Spock. "Putting the emotional differences aside, your father supported your choice to join Starfleet, mine did not. Is it necessary to discuss such matters?"

"Fine, it's your choice what you do, if you want me to stay out of it, fine." said Kirk. "I'm just saying, not repairing things with your dad might be something you'll regret later. Come on, we're at the transporter room, let's go." Kirk stepped into the room, talking briefly to the transporter operator, and then got on the pad, as did Spock.

"Energizing." they quickly found themselves in the transporter room at the Starfleet base in Riverside.

"Thanks!" Kirk grabbed his bag in one hand, Spock with the other and ran out.

"Come on, Spock, I want to get home! Oh, Chris had better let me drive. I've missed my car!"

James is quite excited for this. Odd, I find myself in anticipation as well, fascinating. I wonder why. Perhaps, the companions we choose can become as much our family as our biological one? No, that is a ridiculous, emotional sentiment. Spock glanced over at Kirk, who was smiling and truly very happy.

However...I am, in part, human.
