Epilogue

Fifteen Years Later

Robyn, the new intern, was opening the day's mail, sorting bills into one pile and junk mail into another. She opened the last envelope, pulled out the contents, and looked them over. As she read the words, the letter opener she was holding fell and clattered to the desktop. "Mrs. Benson!" she yelled, jumping up from her desk and running towards the next office. "Mrs. Benson!"

Mrs. Benson, a few years past retirement age but still going strong, was leaning over her desk, squinting at her computer screen, when the excitable intern came bursting through the door. "My goodness gracious, Robyn, what's all the fuss about?"

"Mrs. Benson. You have to see this. You're not going to believe it," she said, thrusting the paper into her boss's hand. Mrs. Benson pulled the reading glasses from the top of her head down over her eyes. "The Bartowski Foundation? One hundred thousand dollars?" She looked up at her intern. "Robyn? Is this real?"

Robyn bounced in place, unable to hold in her excitement. "It looks real to me Mrs. Benson."

The old woman felt the thick paper of the check between her fingers and then held it up to the light to check for watermarks. Satisfied, she took off her glasses, let them fall on the chain around her neck, and rubbed the tears from her eyes.

"One hundred thousand dollars!" Robyn squealed. "We won't have to close now Mrs. Benson. We can fix the roof, pay off the debt, and have plenty left over."

"The Bartowski Foundation." Mrs. Benson squinted at the paper again. "I wonder if that's related somehow to that Bartowski boy that used to come in here years ago?"

"I don't know who's behind it," Robyn said. "All I know is it's a miracle."

The End

A/N So there it is. Maybe not the ending you were hoping for, but an ending that is true to these characters and where they are at this point in their lives. It had always been my intention that this story would fit nicely into the canon, with the caveat that the 5th season didn't happen. Because all true Chara fans know that the fith season was just a really bad dream that we all woak up from when Sara kissed Chuck on that beach. Thank you all for reading, and thank you Chuck fandom for the great times and memories.
