Enjoy!

"Have either of you noticed that there are more aliens this year?" commented Bones. it had been once week since classes had restarted. they were currently in the mess hall.

"If by aliens you mean peoples of non-terrestrial origin. Then yes." said Spock.

"Same here. it's because of the delegate thing last year." said Kirk. "They were impressed. so they told people. so now, more non-humans are considering Starfleet and option." he glanced at two alien girls passing by. Bones rolled his eyes.

"Ever think that maybe some of them are purely here for school?" he asked Jim.

"Oh, there's always time for some fun too." said Kirk. "Right, Spock."

"I would advise showing respect." said Spock. "that last female you looked at is Corusian. Her race does not 'date', rather, chooses one suitor and marries them without any formal relationship beforehand"

"...oh."

McCoy laughed. "That sure would've backfired, wouldn't it have, Jim?"

"Oh, shush you." he said, but he was smiling. "Hey Pavel! Come sit here." Pavel came and sat with them bringing with an alien boy. the boy had orange skin, no hair, but was most interesting was that he had six limbs: three arms and three legs.

"Hey, This is vone of the new students, I'm showing him around." said Chekov. the aliens sat down and extended his middle arm, Kirk shook his hand.

"Hey, I'm James T. Kirk. Or just Jim. This is Spock, and Bones." the boy nodded.

"He-llo. I am-Arex." He said, in an almost computer-like voice.

Well, the old voice. Before Christine replaced it. So weird hearing her voice still from the computers. Thought Bones.

"You are Edosian, correct?" asked Spock.

"Y-es." he said.

"I commend you for learning to speak any earth language, especially English." said Spock.

"Th-a-nk yo-u." he said.

"Vhy does he say zat, Arex?" asked Chekov.

"M-y vo-cal ch-or-ds are de-sign-ed fo-r a mu-ch dif-feren-t ki-nd of sp-ee-ch." said Arex.

"Indeed it would not be physically possible for any of us to speak Edosian." said Spock.

"Well then, good for you, Arex." said Jim. "You sound pretty good, considering all that."

"Th-ank yo-u Ja-mes." Kirk stood up.

"Well, I need to get to class. I think both Spock and Bones have a free period, so enjoy your lunch." Kirk left.

"Excuse me." Kirk turned around. A young woman he recognized as being Caitian was standing there. "I'm lost. Where is this room?" she held out a slip of paper with a number writing on it.

"Is this supposed to be your dorm?"

"It is my room assignment."

"That's what I meant. This is right by my friend Uhura's room. I can take you."

"I would prefer you tell me instead." she said. Kirk shrugged.

"I will, but it'd be quicker to show you." She looked at him for a moment, and then nodded. He began to walk alongside her.

"I should introduce myself. I'm James T. Kirk."

"My name is M'Ress." she replied.

"You must be a freshman." said Kirk.

"I arrived this morning." was the curt reply.

"You know, I know acting professional seems like a good idea, but really, acting natural gets better results, trust me." she blinked.

"You misunderstand. I am not being polite. I am trying to get you to leave. I do not particularly humans very much, especially male humans as I am not interested in any potential romance." Kirk out up a hand. "

"Okay, I get it. But you know, most of us here, we're humans. And at the moment, about three quarters of Starfleet's humans are male. So, friendly suggestion. Get used to us if you want to make this work." he stopped walking. "here we are. Door on the left. Nice to meet you M'Ress." he turned and left.

"...thank you!" she called after him. and went into her room.

"for First period, for second period, for fourth period from yesterday.." Jim was listing off his homework. "English assignment, we just got back, how are we supposed to do all this work?"

"Begin with the oldest assignment and work your way up chronologically. establist a system to-" Spock was cut off by Bones.

"We know, we know. we've heard this lecture a hundred times."

"I personally like my method." Jim set his PADD down. "Enjoy yourself and then do it the night before. "

"That is not logical. It most likely leads to decreased efficiency and quality." said Spock.

"Are we really gonna argue over who does there freaking homework better?" grumbled Bones. "Come on! two twenty-one year olds and a twenty-two year old should have better thing to talk about."

"Caitians are hot." said Jim.

"Okay, back to homework." said Bones. Kirk laughed. Then he quieted down.

"We're over halfway done. This is Junior year." he said. The room was silent.

"Two years stuck in this room, with you freaks, and I'm only halfway done. Medical degree had better be worth it." joked Bones. Jim laughed.

"I'm sure it will be. how 'bout you, Spock? Will it all be worth it in the end?"

"Yes, I believe it will be."

"Savor that moment, it's the most emotional thing we'll ever hear from our Vulcan." said Bones. Kirk smiled. he stood.

"Okay, bar tonight, reports tomorrow. who's coming?"

"Me."

"Spock, how 'bout you?"

"I should stay and finish."

"Come on! Live a little! Only two more years! Please? I won't bug you to do stuff with is for the rest of the week."

"It's Friday."

"Rest of next week! c'mon!" Spock relented and grabbed a sweater before they left they left the room.

Super short chapter I know, but it's all I had for this idea. Props and virtual hugs to everyone who knows who M'Ress and Arex are.
