"Hey Professor?"

"Oh, Leonard, what is it?"

"Well um, there's some bad information in this quiz so i couldn't finish it." he handed her the sheet. "see it's not quite accurate on this information about Vulcan anatomy..."

"Oh really?" Bones almost rolled his eyes how many times had he heard that tone since he'd been here? too many times. "I suppose you know it's inaccurate due to your time spent at Starfleet?"

"Yes and No. My roommate was Vulcan so-"

"-Interesting." she interrupted. "And just how do you know so much about your ex-roommate's biology?"

"I don't like what you're implying Sir." She gave him a cold look.

"Sir? Excuse you, Sir But i am a lady and i will be addressed as Ma'am or Professor am I understood?"

"Absolutely." he said. "Excuse me, I have somewhere else to be." he said and left.

"People here just don't get it!"

"People here just don't like all the E.T.s" Jocelyn said. the pair had started meeting up for lunch most every day. the lack of scheduled-in lunchtimes was a bit disorienting for Bones. "Or Starfleet. and every other sentence out of your mouth is about one or the other."

"It has been my life for the past few years. and i'd rather talk about Starfleet than back home."

"Ugh, tell me about." she said. "I love my family but they are the last hing i want to tell anyone about. They so..." she gestured abstractly.

"Mine are exactly the same!" Bones said. "and then holidays happen and everyone's there and someone gets mad about-"

"-yeah and if you're the oldest sibling-"

"-Ha! try oldest cousin."

"I am! by four years!"

"Doesn't it suck?"

"Entirely." Jocelyn smiled brightly and Bones definitely felt his heart flutter.

"it's like, they love me. all of 'em. and i love them...but they're...i don't know..."she trailed off.

"Sugar cookies."

"Excuse me, Leonard?"

"Sugar cookies." he said again. "white and all cut the same way." that got her laughing.

"That's perfect." she sighed happily. "...i have to go, i have class." she stood up and start to walk away, tossing strawberry-blonde hair over her shoulder.

"...Jocelyn!" Bones stood up.

She turned around. "Yeah?"

"...let's have dinner."

"Okay, when?"

"uh...friday?"

"Pick me up at six-thirty." she said and smiled again-like she had a secret-and walked away quickly.

Leonard sat back down.

"Bones guess what? okay Spock and i were at he launching-i dragged him down there-and there was this Orion girl and Holy Man Bones! You should've seen her! So i-"

"-Call back later, Jim, this is the worst possible time."

Jim stared at the monitor for a second before speaking. "Are you getting ready for a date?"

"Yes I am."

"You're gone for one month and you have a date!"

"Yes. Her name is Jocelyn and she's perfect."

"So she hates everyone and everything too?"

"I don't hate everyone and everything."

"But you do complain about them."

"...yes. and she lets me, and i listen to her complain and she's gorgeous and likes things i do and likes me. i think. so call back later."

"Okay i will bye."

"SPOCK OPEN YOUR WINDOW ALREADY!"

THONK!

Spock got up and opened his window. "What did you throw?"

"a water bottle. Bones has a girlfriend possibly." Kirk said.

"That's nice. Jim. I have at least another hour and a half of assignments to finish not counting research i intended to do for an essay that isn't due tomorrow and my first class is at seven at which point i will already have been awake and studying for at least two hours."

"Okay...? why are you telling me this? that doesn't seem very relevant Spock."

"I don't care about Leonard's potential romantic partner." Spock said and forcefully shut the window.

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

are you stressed out about something because that would be really odd.

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

I think you're ignoring me.

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

Bones said his date went really well-i know you're swamped with schoolwork so you don't care but it did.

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

I'm sorry

Communique from James T. Kirk to Spock

I'll talk to you tomorrow I guess

"Spock." Spock looked up from where he was sitting in the library.

"Why are you here?"

"Because i knew you would be." he sat down next to him. "I'm sorry if i upset last night."

"You did not. I've simply chosen to try to challenge myself this semester and have slightly...overextended my abilities."

"Too much work and it's getting to you?" James asked. "well why not drop a class then? or stop doing extra credit-because knowing you, you are."

"I can handle what i have."

"Sure you can-which is why you slammed the window shut after a tried to talk to you for the first time in a week." James said. "if your that close to showing emotion a month in how will you be when we get to finals? doesn't seem very logical to me to not drop a class or two, Spock."

"...I will consider it."

"Great." Kirk said. "In the meantime you should call Bones."

"I am still uninterested in hearing about his romantic escapades."

"No that's not why. he needs your help with schoolwork or something."

"I'll see if i'm able to help him."

"Hey Professor?"

"What is it Leonard?"

"I wanted to know if you got that email I sent you?"

"The one forwarded from your Vulcan friend? yes I read it."

"Okay Good..."

"I'm not changing your grade if that's what you're asking."

"Si-Ma'am he told you the information was incorrect."

"I did not write the text you were given for class. Your answers didn't match the provided material."

"But the provided material was wrong!"

"That is not the issue." she said. "I will not be changing your grade. You would do well to drop the issue, Leonard."

"Alright. Ma'am." he said and stormed out of the classroom.

"Leonard, you okay?" Jocelyn said a few minutes later when she ran into him in the hall.

"Oh yeah...Just fine."
