Enjoy

Kirk knocked on the door to Bones' dorm room. They'd been back for only a week and Kirk spent nearly every spare moment in either Spock or Bones' room. Spock had almost entirely adjusted to it already, ignoring Kirk's presences largely, or rather continuing to go about his life and work regardless of Jim's presence. Jim didn't seem to mind as long as he was around people.

But Bones minded.

"Do you want something?" he asked as he opened the door and let Kirk in.

"Do I have to always want something from you, Bones?" Jim asked, coming in and sitting down on the end of the bed. "Maybe I just want to sit here, is that so bad?"

"Yes! How am I supposed to get anything done with you staring at me?" He questioned to which Kirk just shrugged.

"You did it for two and a half years."

Bones huffed. "You're finally a senior you have all sorts of freedoms before you graduate and get tossed about like the ragdoll command thinks ensigns are and you're gonna spend it watching me do homework?"

"Of course not-I'm going to spend it doing my homework and schoolwork and spending my spare time with you and Spock because what else can I do? which brings me to the question: wanna go out tonight?"

"If I go out with you-and i'll assume the hobgoblin too-will you leave for now so I can finish something?"

"If you insist." James said, getting up. "I'll be back for you later."

"Yeah yeah, see you."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Christine stood anxiously outside the door she'd just knocked on...ohhh, this was a bad idea...Maybe she should go...

"Hello Christine." Spock said the moment he opened his door.

"Oh yes, um, Hello! I...I hadn't seen you since you got back I wanted to say hello and...and invite you to dinner tonight?"

Spock almost looked surprised.

"Christine..." he said. "I apologize I haven't sought you out I've been focused on preparing myself for the year and setting myself up to graduate with honors and t be completely prepared for the work it will take to do so. As for tonight I already have plans with James and Leonard."

"Oh..."

"However...I can spare some time on Friday if you're available."

Christine did her best to not smile any larger than she already had been. "Yes, that sounds...That sounds nice. I'll see you then? six o'clock?"

"I will see you then." Spock agreed before Christine finally did smile widely and hurried off

Kirk came back to the table with the drinks he'd ordered for the group, setting them down on the table. "And here we are." he said before sitting down and taking a gulp of his drink. It was a fairly quiet night in the Launching Pad and the three seniors were some of the only patrons in the bar. But that wasn't so awful, even if Kirk had to admit he liked the environment better when it was full of people, especially other cadets.

Bones and Spock however were far more satisfied that night with how it was and Kirk could tell.

"So, Bones, Spock, I have a proposition for the two of you."

"You found an apartment and you want to rent it with us and make everyone go through the horrors of spending far too much time together again." Bones said before taking a swig of his drink. "I'll pass."

"Now hold on, just consider it for a moment longer." Kirk said. "wouldn't it be nice to have the opportunity to live off campus before graduating?"

"It would be a valuable life experience." Spock agreed. "Also since we'll all most likely have roommates as cadets we may as well become accustomed to sharing space with others again."

"Or we could enjoy the time we have in our own spaces left." Bones said. "Look I like you guys-we're all friends but I like having my space so let me have it-so let's enjoy our drinks and not get on each other's nerves.

"Fair enough." Kirk conceded. "Fair enough."

And that's how things were. For a week.

Then the letters came to every senior in the academy.

Greetings,

It was recently discovered that there are serious issues in two of our older dormitory buildings that will require one (the Apollo building) to undergo serious renovation and the other (The Charles Tucker building) to be razed and rebuilt. the cause in the Apollo building being age and the cause in the Charles Tucker building being issues associated with the laboratory classrooms on the first floor.

No students are in danger however several will have to rehouse and the academy cannot relocate them all to the remaining dormitory. therefore, the academy is asking all senior student to consider off-campus housing that The Academy will pay for for the first semester due to the inconvienice.

Thank You for your co-operation.

"Bones!" Kirk ran up to him in the hall. "did you see that letter?"

"Yeah I saw it."

"I already spoke to Spock, and we're going to share the place I originally found. And it's plenty big for three if you want."

"...Sure." Bones said. "May as well avoiding trying to find my own place."

"Awesome!" Kirk smiled. "we're gonna move in on saturday."

"That's in four days!"

"Be ready!" the bell rang. "got to go!" Kirk walked off.

Saturday was not an easy day for anyone.

It was a long, tiring, frustrating day for Bones, Kirk and Spock. Bones and Jim hadn't quite realized how much they had to move (or how much they still needed to get int he way of furniture) but Spock knew exactly how much he had and how much they needed to get and kept commenting on how both Bones and Jim could've been better prepared.

Bones had already gone a few rants over that.

But now they were all sitting on the living room floor eating Chinese food and talking about what kind of couch they wanted.

"Let's get green suede." Kirk said.

"Or we could get something that won't be ugly as sin." Bones said. "Make it black."

"Either would be acceptable aesthetically in this space depending on the shade of green or material of the black one and style of either." Spock commented. "But i feel as though acquiring a dining room table would be the main priority."

"At least we all ahfe beds." Jim said cheerfully.

"Yeah, at least that." Bones finished up his food. "I'm reotty beat-I'm heading to bed."

"Okay, goodnight."

"Goodnight, Leonard."

" 'Night." Bones said and retreated to his bedroom, changed into pajamas and was asleep within minutes.

He hadn't exactly been happy about moving out of the dorms and into an apartment and back in with Kirk and Spock but over the next few days he found himself satisfied and pleased with the situation.

This could still be a good year.
