I ought to have said this with my last update but I'll say it now: Rest in Peace, Anton Yelchin. I hope your life reflected the happiness and joy you brought to others in your work.

"T'Pring?"

"Yes?"

"Um, Hi. My name is Ch-"

"Christine Chapel. I am aware. We've met." T'Pring said coolly. it had been two weeks since she and Spock had first spoken. October was drawing to a close-that day Spock was with Jim and Bones decorating their apartment for Halloween (and for the party Kirk insisted they were having) which gave Christine a few hours to act on something she had been thinking about the last few days.

"Yes, Uh. I was hoping to speak to you about...something, may we talk?"

"sit down." T'Pring gestured to the seat next to her.

"Oh um, in private..." Christine said, looking about the commons area.

"It is rude in both Vulcan and Human cultures to eavesdrop I'm sure we'll be fine here." T'Pring insisted. Christine hesitated but sat down. "Now what is it you desired to speak about?"

"Uh well, About Spock." Christine said. "I noticed you spend a lot of time with him so I th-"

"-You've noticed?" T'Pring interrupted. "Who else?"

"Uh...I don't know?" Christine looked confused. "Look, I just thought you might know him pretty well so I figured maybe you could help me..." Christine was starting to doubt how good of an idea this was...

"With what?" She asked.

"Well, Spock and I spent a lot of time together the last few years but in the last few weeks he's been um...distant. unresponsive. So I was hoping if something is wrong with him that I could help with you might know?" Christine asked.

"No. His behavior around me has been normal." T'Pring said. "Perhaps what you have noticed is that he has made the choice to spend his time with people of similar interest and intelligence to himself as of late rather than you."

"Wh-Excuse me?!"

"You're a human female and studying to be a nurse. You're hardly the kind of individual one would expect someone like Spock to associate himself with. Logically I see no reason why he should. And I imagine that your friendship with him-I'll use the term for lack of better substitute at the moment-has more to do with your infatuation with him than his interest in you. " T'Pring stood up. "I cannot help you and would advise you to take Spock's actions as what they are-an avoidance of you."

Christine was shocked. She almost let T'Pring go. But then got up and called after her.

"What makes you so sure he's not...Not interested in me as well?"

"three facts seem to allude you, Christine Chapel." T'Pring said. "the first is you're nowhere close to being Spock's equal in mind or physical and in my knowledge of your culture you aren't attractive in body or personality enough to make up for that. the second fact is Spock is intelligent enough to follow the way of Logic which makes romantic attractions to a human obviously illogical. and third." T'Pring looked back to Christine. "He's Betrothed...no. Married. It's more equitable to marriage."

"...to who...?" Christine asked but knew what T'Pring was about to say.

"To me." the Vulcan women said. "Good Night." she left.

Christine felt eyes on her. Everyone was watching.

Every person in the commons room had been watching her and T'Pring.

Everyone saw T'Pring tear her up.

Christine stormed out of the room, determined to not cry in front of people-she wasn't some middle-schooler who's crush had rejected them!

She felt like it.

"Christine!" She felt an arm on her shoulder and looked up at who had stopped her. "What's wrong?" Bones asked her, looking concerned.

"..." she felt the tears welling back up. Bones frowned and quickly lead her from the hallway into an empty lecture hall.

"Tell me about it-are you alright? Are you hurt?" Bones asked. Christine shook her head no before explaining the 'conversation' she had had with T'Pring. Bones listened and found Christine some tissues before sitting down with her.

"Well sounds to me like she's threatened by you." Bones said,

"She's a Vulcan, she doesn't feel threatened," Christine said miserably. "She was just...confident. Speaking all in facts."

"Now hold on." Bones said. "How do you know that everything she said was straight up fact? and more than that she most certainly could've felt threatened. I've lived with a Vulcan long enough now to know they feel-the just try not to let it show or effect them but it does." Bones looked directly at Christine. "And more than that Spock isn't even entirely Vulcan-he has to acknowledge his human half sometime. and When he does he'll see people like you who really care about him are gonna be the best thing this universe can offer him."

"She's still married to him though." Christine said miserably.

"Only because it's arranged-you know that, right? Vulcans have arranged marriages?"

"Yes but I didn't know Spock was in one."

"And now you do. But don't you think if Spock thought there was someone better out there he'd break off that marriage in a second? Well let me tell you there is someone better out there for him and she's sitting right next to me. And she's a stunning, intelligent, driven and caring young woman who anyone in this fleet would be lucky to have-especially that hobgoblin." Bones "And that hobgoblin better look up from his PADD and realize that before you move onto someone who you're gonna be the moon and stars to." Bones smiled at Christine before getting up. "Now. I'm gonna go call Jocelyn and I'll see you at our Halloween party tomorrow night. And go do something nice for yourself-doctor's orders, Nurse."

Christine smiled. "Yes sir, Doctor McCoy." she said, almost laughing. Bones nodded to her before getting up. "Bones?" Christine got up and hugged him tightly. "Thanks."

"No problem, Christine. But take care of yourself, got it? Don't let this drag you down."

"I won't."

"Good, see you." Bones said when the hug broke and left.

"Leonard McCoy." Bones was approached in the hall by T'Pring.

"What do you want?" he asked her.

"I wished to make an inquiry-do you know where Spock is today?"

"Yeah. Our apartment. he's busy. He's helping Kirk set up for our party I only stepped out to try to video call my girlfriend in peace." Bones said.

"Party?"

"Yeah. Party-you know what that is, don't you? We're having one for Halloween. Halloween is-"

"-A human festival. I'm aware. I am not aware that Spock participated in...Parties. It seems like a waste of time."

"...Well how about you come and see why it's worth even a Vulcan's time? It's tomorrow, come at 6-do you have our address?"

"Yes."

"Good. We'll see you there. Excuse me." Bones stepped around T'Pring and kept walking a plan forming in his mind.

It was probably a bad plan.

He didn't care.

He didn't like people who made people like Christine cry.

And damned if he wasn't going to do something about it.
