Danny wasn't at school the next day, or the next, and Sam was starting to get worried about him. After school he made his way to Danny's house. It wasn't that hard to find the place was like a beacon for weird. He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. After a few moments a red headed girl answered and Sam suddenly lost his words.

"Uh…is Danny here?" He asked her.

She sighed and nodded, "Yeah he's sick though been up in his room. Who are you?" She asked him moving aside to let Sam come in.

"I'm Sam, me and Danny are friends." He told her.

"Danny and I ." she corrected, "I'm Jazz. Danny's room is right upstairs."

He nodded thanks and trudged up the stairs looking for Danny's room. It wasn't hard to find it was the only door with posters of spaceships on it. Hesitantly he knocked and there was the muffled call of come in from inside.

Sam opened the door and walked inside closing it quietly behind him.

"Hey…" He said softly coming to the edge of Danny's bed.

Danny blinked up at him and gave a little smile.

"Hey…why are you here?" Danny asked quietly his voice barely a whisper.

"You weren't at school, and I was worried." Sam shrugged sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"Yeah well…I had a bit of an accident." Danny admitted and Sam looked at him curiously.

"What happened? Are you hurt?" Sam asked reaching out and laying a hand on Danny's chest recoiling though as he winced.

"I am…but I had to pretend to be sick to get to stay home." He sighed pulling away the covers and lifting his shirt to show Sam the blast wounds on his chest.

Unfortunately for Sam the marks looked all to familiar and he frowned feeling his heart sink.

"You got shot with rock salt, which means that you had a run in with John or Dean." Sam said starting to realize exactly what having a ghost, or half ghost, boyfriend in this case meant.

Danny hung his head a little letting out a sigh. "They cornered me in an ally and shot me, they seemed surprised when I didn't just go up in smoke but it did hurt like nobodies business."

Sam felt a swell of anger rising in him. Danny was the towns hero and his stupid father and idiot brother were trying to kill him. Besides that they were trying to kill his boyfriend and that just made things a hundred times worse.

"I'll be fine by tomorrow I just need more time to rest." Danny said giving a yawn and emphasizing his point.

Sam nodded, "I'll let you get some rest then." He said softly leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to Danny's lips before turning and leaving.

He could hear Danny shifting to get comfortable again as he closed the door and went back downstairs thanking Jazz for letting him in and with that he left.

It seemed to take him a long time to get back to the motel and the trip was fueled with volatile thoughts about his father and brother. He was just so angry at them and their barbaric nature, shoot first, never ask questions. Sam sighed as he got to the door his hand hovering above the handle as he heard the shouts coming from inside. Just another night at the Winchester house. Peaking through the window he saw John and Dean squaring off for what looked like probably the second or third time already. Dean had a split lip and John had blood on his knuckles. From the looks of it neither were going to back down any time soon. Part of him wondered what had caused the fight and the other just didn't even care anymore. He felt himself start to sink inside everything just becoming a deep dark black hole. Suddenly he was angry though. Angry at everything but specifically his family and the way they lived. He didn't want this. He knew they were going to try and take him away from Danny. That or they would kill his boyfriend.

Sam stormed away from the motel and back into the streets heading for the library. At least if he got in trouble for being out he could pretend he was studying. When he walked through the large double door leading into the library he relaxed. The smell of old books and printed ink helping put his mind back at ease. He grabbed a few books off the shelf and sat himself down starting to immerse himself in them.

He didn't know how long it had been but out of the blue there was an uninvited hand on his shoulder and Sam just about broke it. He was a hunters son after all. He looked up with a glare seeing a tall man in a formidable suit. His silver hair pulled back in a pony tail. Sam thought he was definitely in trouble now. No one who bothered to put this much work into their appearance ever had any good news to say.

"Can I help you?" Sam asked shrugging the hand off his shoulder.

"Why yes you can, You are Samuel Winchester are you not?" The man asked and Sam nodded.

"Yeah that's me."

"I have been going over your school records and they are quite impressive, I would like your help with some of my studies if you would be so kind." He said a smile that Sam didn't quite trust creeping over his face.

"Who even are you?" Sam asked his eyes narrowing.

"Vladimir Masters, are you interested? You could consider it an internship."

Sam's brow furrowed as he connected the dots and his eyes sprung open.

"Oh man…yes, of course." Sam said quickly.

Everyone knew that Vlad Masters was one of the worlds most renowned billionaires and a very important person. Sam would have to be an idiot to miss a chance to study with him.

"Great…would you like to come back with me now? Get to know the place a little, then I can arrange for you to be taken straight home, though if I'm correct it isn't much of a home." Vlad said the last part hitting Sam like a small blow and reigniting his anger.

"Yes okay Mr. Masters." Sam nodded putting his books back and coming to his side.

"Then let us be off." Vlad said as he stepped out of the library Sam close at his heels.
