Theme Song
One door has closed, another swings (Owen stares into the camera and fades out along with Brooklyn, Molly, and Charizard)
You must grow accustomed to new things (Gray, Durus, Chase, Leviculus, and Fidens replace the others)
It might feel strange, there might be hate (A person in black armor looks at Cerulean Cave, followed by a split screen of them wearing a laughing mask and crying mask)
But you do not want to tempt fate (Gray stares at the sky and eight badges pass by)
Fight back(2x)! Let it go! (Durus, Leviculus, and Fidens charge towards the camera at the same time)
Be strong(2x), put on a show! (Chase and Audino sprint away from a herd of Tauros)
Keep training, you'll be put to the test (Gray has a flashback of losing to Trentavious)
Now is not the time to rest... Pokemon! (Gray, smiles at the camera with Leviculus and Fidens by her side and Durus resting on her head)
Yo, how's it going, everyone? Last chapter, Chase and Gray managed to escape Mt. Moon in the nick of time, and now they'll meet the two karate guys that are obsessed with Mega Punch and Mega Kick. I'd like to start by saying right now, I know Gray's Pokemon can't learn these moves, but I call shenanigans. If anything has legs and feet, or arms and hands, they should be able to use those attacks. Now, let's get going!
MerlocokVonBaron: Don't worry, he'll catch a Pokemon in time. I don't have a clear cut idea of what he's going to catch, because I could decide to have him catch something that doesn't fit in the medical field, or something that does. At this point, I have no idea
Defender31415: Okay, that's good to hear :) And yeah, it was Pay Day. I thought Meowth learned it at a lower level, and by the time I checked the chapter was already reviewed on...
Blaze Falcon: Well, Mt. Moon in real life would be absolutely horrible, lol. And those are exactly what the brothers are, and I think it'll be pretty interesting given the sides Gray and Chase take. As for wanting Chase to win, I do too!
MCMXCV: Yeah, Audino got a little excited with the whole Paras thing, but she'll learn from her mistakes, haha. And Clefairy could be an interesting choice for Chase, but I'd like to give him a Pokemon more suited for the medical field without it taking Audino's role, so Chansey, while it could be interesting, is out of the question at this point in time
guest: Partially, I didn't feel it was right for Chase to catch one of the Paras given the circumstances, but he will be catching a Pokemon sooner or (definitely) later. I know I have something lined up in Fuchsia, but that's about it. Of course, he could catch something earlier, like in the Celadon City Arc, but you never know
Shion Rasenka: Just a warning, if you do read those, just skim over them. I figured I'd follow the games for how the battles would be played out, so they're very short and there aren't any descriptions. And I can only imagine how freaky it would be to have those gigantic crabs following you in a fricking cave!
Gray's team
Durus, (f), level 18, Scratch, Pay Day, Bite, Metal Claw, Fury Swipes*, Screech* - (Meowth)
Leviculus, (m), level 19, Water Gun, Hypnosis, Bubble, Rain Dance, Double Slap* - (Poliwag)
Fidens, (m), level 20, Quick Attack, Wing Attack, Rock Throw, Double Team, Scary Face*, Pluck* - (Archen)
SMACK! Everyone turned to see Leviculus fall on his face as usual, and Durus rolled her eyes as she helped the goofy Pokemon back on his feet, which made the water type laugh. Fidens, meanwhile, continued to look around the patches of grass before sighing and sitting down along with Gray and Chase. Audino was sitting close by, but appeared to be in her own world while inspecting several different flowers that could be used as medicine.
"I can't believe we still haven't found a Pokemon. We need to catch something before challenging the gym," Gray stated while looking at her three Pokemon, who were sitting next to each other and panting. Having searched for so many hours, they were all tired and dejected. What made things even worse was the fact that they knew they weren't ready to face the gym leader, who was definitely going to be stronger than Brock, who had beaten them before.
"Keep your head up. You still have a lot of time to find another Pokemon, and it's not like you need to. All of your Pokemon should be able to handle themselves," Chase opined while Audino walked over with a bunch of flowers in her hands, which she threw on Chase's lap with a smile. "Besides, you could always try to teach them some new moves." As soon as Chase said that, a massive explosion occurred in the distance, and everyone shot onto their feet.
"Maybe that's a new Pokemon! Let's go!" Gray screamed, completely disregarding what Chase had said. With that, the girl and her Pokemon sprinted towards the smoke while Chase rolled his eyes and Audino snickered at his reaction. The Pokemon leading the charge was Leviculus, who was sliding on his stomach while using Water Gun to soak the ground, but Durus and Fidens were close behind. After a few minutes of running, the group arrived at an area near the entrance of Mt. Moon and saw two men dressed in karate outfits.
"Hitmonchan, use Mega Punch!"
"Counter with Mega Kick, Hitmonlee!" The two fighting types charged at each other while Hitmonchan's fist began to glow white, and Hitmonlee's foot started to glow blue. The attacks then collided and exploded, making the two men scream in frustration while their Pokemon seemed just as annoyed as their trainers. Gray and her Pokemon soon walked over to the men and glanced at them while Chase and Audino stumbled forward in exhaustion, and the two men turned to glare at the large group.
"You're not wild Pokemon," Fidens pointed out while looking at the two men and their Pokemon, who gave him nasty looks.
"No dip, Sherlock," the Hitmonchan replied while crossing his arms over his chest. Hitmonlee and her trainer, however, walked over to Gray's side and put their arms around the girl.
"Don't mind them, they're just sore losers," the trainer informed Gray, who giggled at the others' reactions. "My name is Jason, by the way." The man and Gray shook hands while the girl's Pokemon introduced themselves to the Hitmonlee, who bowed respectfully.
"What exactly has them so angry about losing?" Chase quizzed as he and Audino walked over to the other man and his Hitmonchan. "It looked like a pretty even battle, if you ask me."
"He thinks Mega Punch is better than the ferocity of Mega Kick. He was wrong, of course," Jason informed Chase. "You see, Mega Kick deals significantly more damage than Mega Punch, so you can knock your opponents out much quicker," Jason explained while looking at Gray, Chase, and their Pokemon.
"You forgot to mention the fact that it's incredibly inaccurate compared to Mega Punch, which is also a very strong attack. Oh, and the name's Jordan, it's nice to meet you both," Jordan argued before bowing to Chase and Gray with his Hitmonchan.
"Interesting," Chase muttered while rubbing his chin along with Audino. "What do you think, Audino?" the trainer quizzed as Audino looked at both sides.
"Even though I agree that Mega Kick is stronger in terms of damage done, I think Mega Punch is more effective. What about you?" the normal type inquired while looking up at her trainer, who nodded in agreement.
"Hold on, it doesn't matter if you land a bunch of hits that don't do that much damage. One Mega Kick is basically the equivalent of two Mega Punch attacks, so why wouldn't you go for the knockout?" Gray asked rhetorically while she and all of her stood by Jason's side. Chase and Audino quickly moved to Jordan's side, and the feuding parties glared at each other before Jordan decided to speak up.
"Wait, how about they settle this argument? We can teach their Pokemon how to use the attacks, and then they can settle this." Jason grinned at the idea and nodded quickly before walking away with Gray, Durus, Leviculus, and Fidens. Chase and Audino, meanwhile, followed Jordan. After settling at their training area, Jordan and Hitmonchan looked at Chase and Audino before smiling and bowing respectfully.
"So, how long do you think this should take?" Chase asked, not wanting to spend all day training.
"Not long at all. I'd say maybe ten minutes," Hitmonchan answered confidently, making Chase and Audino breathe sighs of relief. The tutors laughed at the reactions, and they began to practice. "Alright, all you want to do is focus all of your energy into your fist, and make sure you're angry," the fighting type instructed. Audino nodded and closed her eyes while attempting to become angry. A scowl appeared on the normal type's face as her fist began to glow blue, but when she opened her eyes the light disappeared.
"Wow, that was a really good job, Audino!" Chase exclaimed, making Audino smile before she saw Jordan and Hitmonchan clapping, impressed by Audino's ability. "Okay, let's do it again, but make sure you stay angry!"
Meanwhile, Gray and her Pokemon were struggling to get the technique down pat. All three of her Pokemon continued to fail and fail and fail, while Jason and Hitmonlee remained calm. Despite this, Gray felt intimidated by their responses, and she huddled up with her Pokemon.
"Listen, guys, we need to make sure to stay focused and angry. Chase thinks he's right, and we can't let that happen!" Gray told her Pokemon, lying about how she really felt. Durus appeared to be the most fired up, while Fidens nodded solemnly, and Leviculus simply laughed at the pep talk. "Now let's do this! Put all of your energy into your feet and kick that tree!"
Durus sprinted forward and jumped in the air before focusing all of her energy into her feet. Despite trying, Durus wasn't able to perform Mega Kick, and she screamed in pain after kicking the tree as hard as she could, making Leviculus and Fidens laugh. The normal type turned and glared daggers at the two, silencing Fidens while Leviculus continued to laugh as if he were in his own little world.
"Let's see if I can do this," Fidens muttered to himself before running forward. The prehistoric bird leaped in the air and focused all of his energy into his foot, and it began to glow light blue for a bit. It stopped, however, due to Fidens becoming too excited, and he slammed into the tree so hard everyone flinched at the sound. Once he got up, Fidens looked at the ground dejectedly, but Leviculus sprinted forward.
Suddenly, the water type launched himself into the air with help from Water Gun, and he began to spin while crashing towards the tree.
"Ten bucks says he messes up," Durus whispered to Fidens, who shook his head in response before laughing along with Durus. Much to their shock, along with Gray, Jason, and Hitmonlee, Leviculus' foot began to glow light blue and he threw his leg straight towards the tree, blowing it up into several pieces. When he landed, Leviculus began to laugh as he bounced from foot to foot, and Gray stared in awe along with her Pokemon.
"That's quite the Poliwag. I don't think I've seen one so strong," Jason complimented, which made Leviculus beam. "Now let's see if he can do it again." Before Leviculus started, he walked over to Gray and pointed his tail at her.
"Gray, would you mind putting my bow on my head?" he quizzed while waving his tail around, which had a headband wrapped around it. Gray giggled and nodded before putting the red headband on Leviculus' head, and the water type leaped in the air once again. For the second time, he kicked though a tree while his foot was glowing blue. After that happened, Jason and Hitmonlee started to applaud Leviculus' success, and the water type bowed in response.
"Great job, Leviculus. Do you think they're ready, Hitmonlee?"
"Absolutely."

After both parties finished their training, Gray squared off with Chase while Jason and Jordan stood off to the side with Durus and Fidens. Leviculus and Audino were standing in front of Gray and Chase, respectively, and they smiled at one another before Jason raised his arms in the air.
"This will be a one versus one battle between Audino and Leviculus! The battle will be over when either side is unable to continue! Chase, you may have the first move!"
"Thank you. Gray, we're going to show you just how strong Mega Punch can be!" Chase shouted to Gray with a grin.
"And we'll show you Mega Kick can be accurate!" Gray shouted back.
"Audino, start with Pound!" Chase commanded, officially starting the battle. Audino sprinted forward while her fist was covered in white energy, and she lunged at Leviculus before punching him in the face. Somehow, the water type managed to remain in the same spot by digging his tail into the ground, giving him the perfect opportunity to strike back.
"Counter with Double Slap, Leviculus!" Leviculus quickly turned around and slapped Audino across the face repeatedly, making the normal type cry out in pain while throwing her arms up as a means of defense. It didn't work, however, as Leviculus continued to attack and Gray smirked while her two other Pokemon cheered for their teammate.
"Stay close to Leviculus and use Disarming Voice!" Despite the pain she was feeling, Audino managed to stand strong and she opened her mouth, releasing waves of pink energy. Leviculus was launched into the air when he was hit by the attack, and he began spinning uncontrollably, making Gray bite her lower lip nervously. She was claimed, though, when she thought of a way for Leviculus to regain control.
"Spin to regain control and then use Water Gun!" Leviculus suddenly started spinning like a wheel in reverse, and he grinned when he gained control over his body. The water type then reared his head back and shot a blast of high-pressured water at Audino, who was knocked onto her back due to the force of the attack. Jason and Jordan stared at the falling Pokemon in shock, but they turned to see Audino was somehow standing.
"While Leviculus is falling, use Mega Punch!" Audino sprinted towards Leviculus as he was falling, and an enraged expression appeared on her face while her fist started to glow blue. The normal type then jumped and delivered a devastating punch to Leviculus' stomach, sending the water type crashing into the ground.
"Are you okay, Leviculus?" Gray asked in concern as her Pokemon struggled to get back up. With the help of his tail, Leviculus stood on his feet once again, and he adjusted his headband with his tail. "Cover the ground with Water Gun and slide towards Audino!" Gray ordered, remembering how quickly Leviculus could move while sliding around. The tadpole did as he was told and covered the ground in water. Then, he dove forward and began to slide around Audino at the speed of light.
"Damn, that's quick! Whatever, keep him away with Disarming Voice, Audino!" Chase demanded. Audino suddenly penned her mouth and waves of pink energy were fired in every direction, making Gray smirk as she knew just how to counter her friend's attack.
"Jump and use Mega Kick!" Leviculus suddenly sprung into the air while his foot was glowing, and he began to spin like a wheel before crashing down and slamming his foot against Audino's chest, making the ground crack underneath the force of the wicked attack. Leviculus then slid back to Gray and smiled as the girl patted him on the head, thinking the battle was over. She stopped, however, when Audino managed to push herself back up.
"Wow, that did a lot of damage," Chase muttered to himself before looking up to see Leviculus was panting heavily just like Audino. "Audino, use Mega Punch and give it everything you've got!" Audino charged towards Leviculus while her fist was glowing blue, and Durus and Fidens turned their attention to Leviculus and Gray, who smirked.
"Leviculus, intercept with a full power Mega Kick!" Leviculus slid across the ground with a confident grin on his face, and his foot began to glow light blue. The water type quickly adjusted his positioning so that his feet were facing Audino, and he used his tail to hop off the ground. The two attacks collided and blue sparks of energy flew through the air before an explosion occurred, sending both Pokemon flying while smoke filled the air. Everyone waited anxiously as the smoke faded, and they were shocked to see both Pokemon still standing with grins on their faces. They soon grimaced in pain, and both Leviculus and Audino fell on the ground with their eyes shut.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle! That means this is a draw!"
"You were incredible, Leviculus," Gray said to her downed Pokemon, who slowly opened his eyes and smiled weakly.
"Audino, you were so awesome, I can't thank you enough!" Chase exclaimed while helping his starter off the ground. Audino smiled at Chase's kind words, and he soon sprayed her with a Potion, bringing her back to full strength. The two then made their way to Gray's side, and Chase handed her a Potion with a smile. The girl took the medicine graciously and sprayed Leviculus with it, and the water type hopped up immediately while wagging his tail energetically.
"Well, that result only made our argument even more complicated," Jordan said to Jason, who sighed in response while nodding.
"Hold on a second, meatheads," Durus said, making the two men and their Pokemon stare at her, along with Gray, who deadpanned at the feline's choice of words. "If anything, that settles the debate. You both tied, and so did they. Mega Punch and Mega Kick are equal."
"That's right. Even though one is weaker than the other, Mega Kick is feast or famine, so it's not like they're both without their faults," Fidens added while smiling at Durus. Jordan and Jason looked at each other - and so did Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan - before smiling and shaking hands.
"You're right! I can't believe we were so stupid," Hitmonchan exclaimed while laughing.
"And to think it took having other people fight our battle to come to this realization," Hitmonlee said while wiping a tear from her eye.
"Thank you, Gray and Chase. We really appreciate your help and the efforts of your Pokemon," Jordan and Jason said in unison. "Good luck with your travels!"
"Thanks!" the two teens exclaimed before walking away with their Pokemon while waving at the two men. As they continued, Gray smiled at her Pokemon and then glanced over at Chase, who was talking to Audino about surgery or something that had to do with medicine. She then glanced back at Leviculus and smiled at the powerful Pokemon.
"We're definitely going to win our gym battle, no matter how tough the leader is. As long as I've got my Pokemon by my side, we can beat anyone!"
So, Leviculus and Audino battled to a draw, and the Mega brothers were satisfied with the result of the battle before Gray and Chase left to head back to the Pokemon Center. Next chapter will be focused on Team Purity and their plans will be talked about a little bit (with some stuff being left out and inferred), so get ready for that! Expect a few more updates (probably two more) today, so stay tuned! Till next time, peace out.
1) For those of you that follow the anime, how pissed would you be if Ash released Goodra? (That's the thing I was thinking of doing with one of Gray's Pokemon, and it's in the current outline, so that could change)
Next Chapter: "Evil's Mascot": While preparing for their first major moves, Deus and the rest of Team Purity go over their objectives, and a few of Deus' Pokemon are introduced. What exactly is Team Purity planning?
