Theme Song

One door has closed, another swings (Owen stares into the camera and fades out along with Brooklyn, Molly, and Charizard)
You must grow accustomed to new things (Gray, Durus, Chase, Leviculus, and Fidens replace the others)
It might feel strange, there might be hate (A person in black armor looks at Cerulean Cave, followed by a split screen of them wearing a laughing mask and crying mask)
But you do not want to tempt fate (Gray stares at the sky and eight badges pass by)
Fight back(2x)! Let it go! (Durus, Leviculus, and Fidens charge towards the camera at the same time)
Be strong(2x), put on a show! (Chase and Audino sprint away from a herd of Tauros)
Keep training, you'll be put to the test (Gray has a flashback of losing to Trentavious)
Now is not the time to rest... Pokemon! (Gray, smiles at the camera with Leviculus and Fidens by her side and Durus resting on her head)

Well, Misty's a jerk. Yeah, Gray managed to defeat a pair of trainers in one on one battles before being able to talk to Misty, but she kind of interrupted her (Misty's) date. Because of that, Misty refused to take Gray's challenge, and now she's left waiting to see if Misty will change her mind. Now, Gray will train with a wild Pokemon in an attempt to help it harness its power. What kind of shenanigans will go down this chapter? I don't know, but let's get going!

Defender31415: No it didn't, haha. And thanks!

Blaze Falcon: Yeah, she kind of is an ass, but she'll eventually come around. It's funny, because Misty's usually portrayed as an ass in most OC stories, lol. And Pancham could be quite the addition, but you'll just have to wait and see what Pokemon Gray's getting this chapter ;)

Breana (guest): I agree with everything you said. I'd be as mad as Misty was (not initially), and I probably wouldn't have given Gray a chance to explain herself, but that's just me

guest: Oh god no, XD Writing one battle is more than enough action for me (per chapter), with two being the exception. Sure, I've thrown out a couple of league battles in a day, but that's also a whole different hype level... but to get back on track, thanks for the compliment! And only one of Gray's Pokemon will actually help with the training, because I didn't feel like dragging out a whole training montage

Guest: Thanks!

Guest: All three could make great additions, but Gray won't be getting a grass type :( Assuming I do another story, that trainer would almost definitely get a Goomy, but don't worry, Gray will be getting a dragon type at some point. How long she'll keep it is still unknown

ShadowDragon9000: Yeah, she has a decent amount of Pokemon already, and she'll add another in the Vermilion Arc, with her last coming at the end of the Celadon Arc

FlameStriker123: Thanks, and that would be a good idea with Togepi battling, but I already wrote the chapter, so sadly she won't be appearing :/ I think her team (with the exception of one Pokemon) will be pretty formidable

MCMXCV: Haha, very true. And Durus overall is a pretty slick character, so expect some more snarky comments throughout the rest of the story. And it definitely will have trouble containing its excitement, though that'll just be on account of her personality. Also, the latin word for strong I believe (I don't know any latin), is Fortis, which will not be going to this Pokemon. Instead, it'll be going to the Pokemon Gray catches in the Vermilion Arc

Gray's team

"She said no!?" Durus screamed as Gray walked back into her room in the Pokemon Center and fell on her bed. Leviculus and Fidens were sitting on the other bed and stared at their distraught trainer, who slowly nodded her head. Durus angrily leaped off the chair she had been sitting on, and the normal type looked around for something to slash. As she grabbed a pillow, Gray's hand fell on her shoulder, which stopped the Pokemon from destroying the property of the Pokemon Center. "I'm so mad!"

"So am I!" Leviculus shouted as he punched one fist into his other open hand. "That dumb gym leader's just too scared to lose to us. That's the only thing I can think of!" Gray looked up at the water type in shock before glancing over at Fidens, who seemed relieved to not have to battle the water type specialist. Once he realized Gray was looking at him, Fidens flinched and put on a fake scowl and crossed his wings.

"Yeah, I was ready to kick her Pokemon's butts!" the rock type fibbed, which made Gray crack a slight smile until she realized she wasn't going to be able to compete in the Indigo League.

"Well, I guess we have to call it quits. Maybe we should go to Johto and try to get those badges before the Silver Conference starts up," Gray said before sighing while the bed she was laying on muffled her words. Durus continued to pace angrily and try to find something she could break that wouldn't lead to a fine Gray would have to pay, and she became even more mad when she couldn't.

"No way! I'm not going to Johto, and we're not letting that Misty chick keep us from winning the Indigo League!" Durus continued running around the room in a blind rage before stopping at the foot of the bed Gray was laying on. "I need to get out of here and train! I have to beat something up!"

"Hey, everyone!" Chase exclaimed as he walked into the room with a bright smile. Suddenly, Durus lunged at the teen angrily and screamed his name.

"Chase, I'm going to beat you up!" the feline shouted while latching onto the intelligent trainer's face. Chase screamed and began running around while trying to pull Durus off his face, which he managed to do after a few seconds. He then held the enraged cat out a full arm's length, and he glared at her.

"I thought we settled our little spat yesterday!" Chase shouted at the feline, who folded her arms over her chest and pouted. "Hey, what's wrong?" the teen quizzed as he saw Gray sprawled out on her bed. The girl didn't say anything, so Fidens decided to speak for his trainer.

"Misty won't accept her gym challenge." The rock type then mouthed the words 'thank Arceus' to Chase, making the trainer laugh while Audino walked into the room and looked around in confusion. Before she could ask anything, Fidens held up his right wing and shook his head. "Don't bother." The normal type nodded in response as Gray slowly rose from her bed and fell on the floor.

"There's no point in trying anymore. My journey's already over." The girl sighed and held up the Boulder Badge she had received from Brock before smiling weakly. "At least we won one gym battle."

"That's it, I'm tired of your sulking," Durus said to Gray as she forced the sixteen year old onto her feet. "We're going training, and I'll see to it that Misty battles us, no matter what it takes." After that, Durus revealed her incredibly sharp claws and slashed at the air angrily, pretending Misty's face was in front of her. "Gray, let's go!" Durus shouted as her trainer refused to move. The teenager simply shook her head, so Durus turned to Leviculus and nodded at the water type. Without hesitation, Leviculus blasted Gray with a powerful Water Gun, and the girl glared at the water type, who didn't back down. Eventually, Gray admitted defeat and changed her clothes before walking into the lobby of the Pokemon Center where everyone was waiting.

"So where are we going to train?" Gray asked angrily while glaring at Durus and Leviculus, who pointed in the direction of Route 25, which made Gray groan. Despite her reluctance, the trainer followed her Pokemon as they walked along Nugget Bridge, and she frowned when they turned to walk towards Cerulean Cape. They stopped, however, at the grass patch just before the maze-like path with tons of trainers waiting to battle, and Gray let out a sigh of relief.

"Wait, I thought you guys said you were going to train," Chase said to Gray's three Pokemon, who all grinned in response. "...I don't get it." The teen then walked away with Audino, as they decided to try and help any injured Pokemon that could be around, leaving Gray with her three Pokemon.

"Okay, use Water Gun, Leviculus," Gray muttered while staring at the ground. Leviculus shook his head at his sulking trainer, and he planned on using a Water Gun on her, but a screeching sound caused him to stop just before he could fire the powerful attack.

"Owww! My ears!" Durus cried in pain as she tried covering her ears with her paws. The ear piercing sound continued to bother Durus, and Leviculus and Fidens were soon effected by the sound. Looking up to see why her Pokemon were complaining, Gray noticed they were all covering their ears, and she looked around in confusion before glaring at her Pokemon.

"Ha ha ha, very funny, you three. Acting like I'm being loud," the girl continued to curse under her breath while shaking her head, but she stopped when Durus spoke up.

"It's not a joke! Something around here's screaming, and it's not me!" the sassy Pokemon told her trainer loudly. Gray looked around at the patches of grass before her eyes settled on a rustling bush. Slowly, the girl walked over to the rustling plant, and she split the branches down the middle, revealing a tiny Pokemon. It was in the shape of a bell and its body was a darker shade of yellow, and atop its body was ring-like growth with a striped rope through the middle. The Pokemon slowly closed its mouth, where a red bell rested, and Gray's Pokemon slowly uncovered their ears with claimed looks on their faces. The Pokemon then smiled at Gray and leaped in the girls arms, jingling as it did so, and the girl giggled before taking out her Pokedex to scan the cute Pokemon.

"Chingling, the Bell Pokemon. Each time it hops, it makes a ringing sound. It deafens foes by emitting high-frequency cries."

"Ching-Ching!" the Pokemon exclaimed while smiling at Gray, who turned around to see her three Pokemon glaring at the wild Chingling. The psychic type waved at the three Pokemon who continued to glare, but Gray shot them a look that made them act friendly.

"Nice to meet you, Chingling," Fidens greeted while extending his wing. The name's Fidens." Chingling smiled at the Pokemon and leaped out of Gray's arms and hugged Fidens, making the bird laugh uncomfortably. Durus and Leviculus, meanwhile, laughed at their teammate's misfortune until Chingling leaped away from Fidens and hugged Leviculus.

"I'm Leviculus, nice to meet you," Leviculus greeted, clearly annoyed by the tiny Pokemon's presence, which Gray noticed. Ever since Leviculus had evolved, he seemed to become much angrier and far more aggressive than when he was a Poliwag, but the girl decided to not say anything in order to keep peace. Lastly, Chingling leaped into Durus' arms and smiled at the cat, who scowled at the tiny Pokemon.

"You can call me Durus." The wild Pokemon then leaped back into Gray's arms and tried to kiss the girl's face, which made Gray giggle.

"You're quite the happy little guy, aren't you?" she quizzed, which made Chingling shake its head. Gray looked at the Pokemon in confusion before taking out a translator and shrinking it before placing the technology on Chingling's stubby little arm. After flashing a few times, Chingling looked around and opened its mouth to talk.

"I'm a girl!" the Pokemon screamed, which made everyone cover their ears in pain. The psychic type then rubbed the back of her head sheepishly before hopping out of Gray's arms, and she looked around at the other Pokemon with a bright smile. "So, what are you all doing here!?" the psychic type screamed once again.

"We're training for our gym battle," Fidens answered with a kind smile before being smacked in the back of the head by Durus, who clearly didn't want Chingling to know about their reason for being where they were.

"Oh that's so cool! I've always wanted to do that kind of stuff, but no trainer would take me!" Chingling informed the others, tugging at Gray's heart. The girl placed her hands over her heart and knelt down to the Pokemon while patting her on the head, and she smiled at Chingling. "I don't know why, though!"

"You're loud," Leviculus spat. Durus nodded in agreement with her teammate while Fidens walked over to Chingling's side and patted her on the back with his wing.

"Oh come on, guys, don't be so mean to her," Fidens countered while locking eyes with the two stronger Pokemon, who shook their heads in unison. Gray, however, patted Fidens on the back and smiled at the rock type.

"You're right, Fidens. Chingling, how about we try to help you be a little more quiet? That way, people will really want to catch you," Gray suggested. Chingling jumped with joy, making jingling noises in the process.

"Yeah! Let's do it!" Chingling screamed, making everyone cover their ears. Gray and Fidens, however, nodded at the Pokemon's words while Durus and Leviculus shook their heads. After finding a place to train, Gray and her three Pokemon stood across from Chingling, who tried to contain her excitement by bouncing up and down. By doing that, she began to jingle, and she soon screamed in excitement, bothering Leviculus and Durus.

"Okay, Chingling, you seem like a pretty energetic Pokemon, so we just have to work on saving that energy for the later parts of battles. Okay?" Gray asked rhetorically. Chingling nodded at the trainer's words and watched as Leviculus was forced to walk towards her. The water type made it blatantly obvious he didn't want to help Chingling, but the friendly Pokemon didn't let that bother her.

"Watch closely, because I'm only going to do this once," Leviculus said to the smaller Pokemon, who nodded. "Alright, here's my Water Gun at full power." Leviculus quickly threw his arms out to his sides and unleashed a powerful blast of high-pressured water that destroyed a large rock he was aiming at, which made Chingling gasp in shock before squealing happily.

"That was awesome! You're so strong!" the bell shrieked, which made Leviculus roll his eyes.

"Yeah, whatever. Now, this is what happens when I want to pace myself over the course of a battle." Leviculus quickly fired several blasts of water that were all equal in terms of strength, and they blew through two large rocks. "By doing that, I save more energy, and do more damage. Now I'm done with this whole training thing." With that, the water type walked away from Chingling, who turned to face one of the large rocks Leviculus hadn't destroyed, and she opened her mouth. Suddenly, a gigantic wave of sound shot towards the rock and caused it to explode, grabbing Leviculus' attention as he was walking away. Durus, Fidens, and Gray stared in shock at the power of the tiny Pokemon, who seemed unaware of her incredible strength.

"Okay, now put a little less effort into it, Chingling," Gray instructed. Chingling, however, walked over to the group of four and looked up at Gray.

"I'm confused. I thought you said to not use all of my energy?" the bell asked at a normal pitch, which made Gray jump for joy along with Fidens. Chingling mimicked the two even though she didn't know why they were happy, and they all stopped at the same time.

"Chingling, that's incredible! I mean, you stopped yelling, and that wasn't even all of your power!? That's just..." Gray paused, looking for a word to describe what Chingling had done.

"Incredible?" Fidens asked, which made Gray nod.

"Exactly. Now let's try that a few more times!"

Gray continued to watch as Chingling released attack after attack, somehow not tiring despite training for hours on end. Chase and Audino had returned earlier in Chingling's training, and the two were in awe of the tiny Pokemon's stamina, which was unmatched. After destroying the last rock, Chingling bounced over to Gray with a bright smile and leaped into the trainer's arms.

"Did I do a good job!?" she screamed, making everyone's ears ring. Once her ears stopped hurting, Gray looked down at the tiny Pokemon and smiled at her before placing Chingling on the ground.

"That would be an understatement," Gray complimented, making Chingling beam. Leviculus and Durus, however, shook their heads at their trainer's kindness, and they continued to glare at Chingling like they had all during her training session. "I guess you're all ready to go out there and find a great trainer," Gray said to the psychic type, who nodded in agreement before she turned and began hopping around, happily firing blasts of sound in every direction.

"Psst, Gray," Fidens whispered to his trainer, who turned to look at the winged Pokemon before kneeling. "I think you should catch her. There's no way I can take on Misty's Pokemon, and Chingling's insanely strong." Gray leaned away from Fidens and smirked at the Pokemon, who blushed in embarrassment.

"Yeah, I'll go with that," the girl said before elbowing Fidens in the ribs and winking at him. Fidens' face began to burn a bright red and he shook his head in denial while Gray giggled and walked over to the loud Pokemon. "Hey, Chingling!" The psychic type turned while firing a blast of sound, and she hit Gray, who was knocked onto her back. Chingling then ran to the girl's side along with Chase, Audino, and Fidens, and they helped Gray back on her feet.

"Sorry," the psychic type whispered, making Gray laugh.

"Don't be! That was a really strong attack! You know, I could really use an awesome Pokemon like you in my gym battle. What do you say? Want to join the team?" Gray quizzed with a smile. Chingling immediately jumped into the girls arms and nodded frantically, making the red bell in her mouth jingle.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Chingling replied before hopping out of Gray's arms and dancing around with Fidens.

"Well, I guess I need to think of a nickname for her," Gray said to herself while watching the celebrating Pokemon along with Chase. The boy snapped his fingers, grabbing Gray's attention, and he grinned before telling her his idea.

"How about Magna? It means loud," the boy said before laughing. Gray thought over the name before nodding at the idea, and she knelt down to Chingling.

"How does Magna sound, Chingling?" The psychic type nodded in response, and Gray beamed before she took a Pokeball off her belt and tossed it at the Pokemon.

After healing her Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, Gray released them from their Pokeballs and smiled. Durus and Leviculus, however, didn't seem to be on board with the addition of Magna, who began to dance with Fidens.

"Gray, just so you know, we don't like her," Durus informed her trainer, who was laying on her bed comfortably. Leviculus nodded at Durus' words, making Gray sit up straight and glare at her Pokemon.

"To be honest, I don't care what you think. And if you're ever mean to her, we're going to have a problem," Gray warned the two Pokemon while cracking her knuckles. Durus and Leviculus glanced at each other in fear of their trainer before slowly walking away from her. Fidens and Magna, meanwhile, continued to dance at the other end of the large room, and Gray smirked at the flying type before closing her eyes to go to sleep. Tomorrow, she'd challenge Misty again, and she was going to say yes.

Yeah, that's definitely the weirdest Pokemon I've put on someone's team. I was actually going to put a Chingling on Owen's Sinnoh team instead of Bronzor, but decided against it at the last second... so there's a fun fact XD That's about all I have to say, except Magna is going to be pretty fricking strong, even if her level doesn't stack up with the others in the future. Till next time, peace out.

1) How're you feeling about Magna joining the team? Do you think Durus and Leviculus will eventually like her?

Next Chapter: "Double Do-Over": Before Gray can change Misty's mind about their battle, Tara and her new partner attack Cerulean! Gray, Chase, and another trainer named Marcus are quick to intervene, but will they be able to defeat the members of Team Purity?
