Theme Song

One door has closed, another swings (Owen stares into the camera and fades out along with Brooklyn, Molly, and Charizard)
You must grow accustomed to new things (Gray, Durus, Chase, Leviculus, Fidens, and Magna replace the others)
It might feel strange, there might be hate (A person in black armor looks at Cerulean Cave, followed by a split screen of them wearing a laughing mask and crying mask)
But you do not want to tempt fate (Gray stares at the sky and eight badges pass by)
Fight back(2x)! Let it go! (Durus, Leviculus, Fidens, and Magna charge towards the camera at the same time)
Be strong(2x), put on a show! (Chase and Audino sprint away from a herd of Tauros)
Keep training, you'll be put to the test (Gray has a flashback of losing to Trentavious)
Now is not the time to rest... Pokemon! (Gray, smiles at the camera with Leviculus, Fidens, and Magna by her side and Durus resting on her head)

Thanks to Blaze Falcon for the submission of Marcus! Also, make sure to check out his story, "Pokemon Kalos Legends"

How goes things, readers? Last chapter, Gray caught a Chingling, who she nicknamed Magna, with some explosive power, which will definitely give her a solid member of the team. Now, Tara and Zypher of Team Purity will try to perform their mission just as Deus ordered, but Gray, Chase, and a trainer named Marcus will get in the way of that. Also, a quick note: I'm going to start working on the first epilogue chapter of Kalos, so I won't be writing that much, if at all, when it comes to Gray's story. Don't worry, though, I've made sure to have up to chapter 20 done, so I'll probably space out the updates for this. Now, let's get going!

Blaze Falcon: Just a little bit XD And they'll eventually like Magna, she'll kind of piss them off throughout their travels, though. And she'll definitely show off her strength against Misty

Guest: She definitely will be catching a fairy type, but she won't be getting a water (Carvannah), or a fire type (Numel). Thanks for the suggestions!

guest: Haha, I do remember you saying Slurpuff looked weird, but I'm speaking in the sense of unexpected additions, though the case could be made that Slurpuff wasn't expected. And I have to agree with you. That relationship is pretty weird, but it'll be kind of funny to see how it plays out

ShadowDragon9000: Lol, they really are underused, and she's definitely going to be strong. As for them getting along, that won't be for a little while. Magna will have to prove herself, and Durus and Leviculus will have to get over her joining, so it'll take a little while

Defender31415: Really? I didn't know it also meant great :/ Then again, I don't take Latin, so I'm relying on google translate XD

MCMXCV: You're right about Leviculus' new personality not being a welcomed addition, but he'll snap out of it once he evolves again. And Fidens will become a lot more confident with unintentional help from Magna and another Pokemon who's going to be joining in chapter 20 (already wrote the chapter and I'm so hyped for it!). As for them gaining respect for Magna with the upcoming gym battle, that's certainly a possibility, though they could also hate her even more no matter the outcome. And Marcus will be Gray's third and final rival of the story

Gray's team

Durus, (f), level 22, Scratch, Feint Attack, Bite, Metal Claw, Fury Swipes*, Screech* - (Meowth)

Leviculus, (m), level 25, Water Gun, Hypnosis, Bubble, Rain Dance, Mega Kick* - (Poliwhirl)

Fidens, (m), level 23, Quick Attack, Wing Attack, Rock Throw, Double Team, Scary Face*, Pluck* - (Archen)

Magna, (f), level 21, Confusion, Yawn, Astonish, Uproar, Last Resort* - (Chingling)

"Great job, Magna! That was your strongest Uproar yet!" Fidens told his new teammate while he was covered in bruises. "Too bad I can barely stand," the rock type said before falling on his face, making Magna laugh. Durus and Leviculus, meanwhile, watched from afar and shot nasty looks at their tiny new teammate. While the four Pokemon socialized in pairs, Gray and Chase sat in two chairs along with Audino, who was reading a book about assisting doctors.

"Why do I have to read this again?" the normal type asked while looking at Chase, who was leaning back in his chair and talking to Gray. He slowly turned and made a face that caused Gray to laugh, and Audino frowned in response.

"I asked you to get me a syringe, and you got a turkey baster instead!" Chase shouted at his starter, who rubbed her neck sheepishly in response, remembering the moment vividly.

"I told you I was tired! Why would you wake me up at four in the morning to practice surgery?" Audino shot back, making Chase blush in embarrassment while Gray laughed at him. "That's what you get for making me study." Chase shook his head at his starter before turning back to Gray, who had looked at the battlefield to see Magna trying to help Fidens onto his feet.

"I can't believe Fidens has a crush on Magna," Gray said while turning to Chase. "I mean, who wouldn't just tell someone how they feel?"

"I know, right?" Chase replied as he felt Audino's eyes burning a hole through his head. "Poor Fidens, though. He has to be struggling with that," Chase said before Magna carried Fidens over to the table.

"Thanks for the help, Magna," the winged Pokemon said with a smile. "Once I'm all healed up, we can start practicing again."

"Sounds like a plan!" the Chingling screamed before hopping over to Durus and Leviculus, who groaned when she arrived. "Hi!" the tiny Pokemon greeted while smiling at her teammates. "I just wanted to say I'm happy to be a part of the team, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys!" Durus and Leviculus glanced at each other before looking at Magna, and they shook their heads.

"Look, we don't like you," Leviculus stated, which made Magna's smile disappear in a flash. "Personally, I don't want to get to know you, and I don't plan on it." Magna slowly turned to look at Durus, but the normal type had the same look on her face as Leviculus.

"He's right. You're annoying, so don't talk to me." The psychic type slowly nodded while frowning as tears began to form in her eyes, and she walked away from the bullies who were sitting next to each other. While Magna walked by herself, a random Growlithe ran to the back of the Pokemon Center, grabbing Gray and Chase's attention. Much to their shock, the Growlithe leaped onto Gray's lap and began licking her face, which made the girl giggle.

"Growlithe? Where are you!?" a voice called. Suddenly, a boy around the age of sixteen ran out from the Pokemon Center and made his way towards Gray. He had fair skin with short, curly blonde hair, and he wore a long sleeve neon shirt with a black sweater over it. He also wore a pair of black jeans, neon sneakers, and was carrying a neon backpack.

"I'm sorry about my Growlithe. He likes to lick people he thinks are talented, at least, that's what the doctor said," the teen joked while picking the Growlithe up in his arms. Gray laughed at the comment and Chase shot the boy a dirty look. "My name's Marcus Wight, by the way."

"I'm Gray Plain, nice to meet you," Gray said while shaking Marcus' hand.

"My name's Chase Smith," Chase stated while nodding at Marcus.

"Everyone, come over here for a second!" Gray called while looking around at her other Pokemon. Durus, Leviculus, and Magna slowly walked over to the table and looked at Marcus confidently, making the teen smile.

"Wow, it looks like you've got some pretty strong Pokemon," Marcus complimented. "Say, why don't we have a battle?" the teen quizzed as he threw three other Pokeballs in the air. In flashes of light, a Riolu, Gible, and Pidgeotto appeared, and the Growlithe Marcus' was holding jumped and landed next to the winged Pokemon.

"You're on," Gray replied confidently.

"Aye, is this the plyce?" Zypher asked Tara as the two hid in the patch of grass to the right of the cave. A tall, blue haired man stood in front of the entrance to the cave, and Zypher grinned as he pulled the strange Pokeball off his belt.

"Yeah, but how are we gonna get by that guy?" Tara quizzed. Zypher didn't answer, and he rolled the Pokeball towards the man guarding the entrance. "What's that going to do?" the teen quizzed. Within seconds, red liquid shot out in front of the duo, and a muffled scream cut through the air. Zypher turned and grinned at Tara, who shook her head and frowned at the man through her mask before following his lead. After walking past the dead man and picking up his weird Pokeball, Zypher followed Tara into Cerulean Cave.

"Okay, keep quiet while I take pictures of the first floor," Tara whispered to her new partner, who nodded. The girl slowly pulled a tiny camera out of her pocket and stopped moving when a person walked by her slowly. After deciding it was safe enough to take a picture, Tara did so, but the flash on the camera went off, grabbing the attention of everyone inside the first floor of the cave.

"Hey, how'd you get in here?" a masculine voice asked before throwing a Pokeball in the air. An Ambipom appeared and charged towards Tara, who was frozen with fear. Lucky for her, Zypher was quick to release his Pokemon from its strange spherical device. Tara attempted to identify the Pokemon, but it was so fast she wasn't able to. With one swift movement, Zypher's Pokemon managed to defeat the Ambipom, and a wave of people ran towards the man who had withdrawn his downed Ambipom.

"Ya messed up, kid. Get out of heah," the Australian man whispered to Tara, who nodded in response before handing Zypher the teleportation device. The handoff was butchered, however, and the device fell on the ground and broke. As soon as he noticed that, Zypher looked up at Tara and then at his hiding Pokemon before bolting out of the cave. Tara followed after him while the man's Pokemon followed suit, and the people in the cave attempted to pursue before being blown back by a Dark Pulse attack.

"This will be a one versus one battle between Gray and Marcus! The battle will be over when either Pokemon is unable to continue! Gray, you have the first move!" Chase shouted.

"Okay, Durus, let's show Marcus just how strong we are! Use-"

BOOM!

The three teens stopped their battle, and they immediately ran to the front of the Pokemon Center, where they saw smoke streaming out of Cerulean Cave. Shocked by the sight, Gray, Chase, and Marcus stood still while staring at Cerulean Cave. As they continued to stare at the cave, two people wearing laughing masks began running down the street towards them, and Gray took the opportunity to turn them into the police.

"Leviculus, use Water Gun on those two!" As they attempted to run by the Pokemon Center, Leviculus ran across the street and unleashed the strongest Water Gun he could. The two people were struck by the attack, which sent them flying into the aforementioned building. "Nice shot!" Gray cheered as she and everyone else ran over to Leviculus. The water type nodded nonchalantly, but he was caught off guard when a blur flew out of the Pokemon Center and kicked him in the stomach so hard he was sent flying into the building behind Gray.

"Riolu, use Quick Attack on that thing!" Marcus commanded while trying to track the speeding blur. The aura Pokemon sprinted forward while a trail of white light appeared behind his body. Somehow, the fighting type managed to land his attack, slamming the speeding Pokemon several feet back. Before it could start running again, the Pokemon Center doors opened and the two masked people appeared.

"Bisharp, ah you okay?" Zypher inquired while helping his Pokemon up. The dark and steel type nodded in confirmation before sharpening its blades angrily and then pointing at Marcus' Riolu, who started to tremble slightly. Durus, however, stepped forward and began hissing at the powerful Pokemon. "So you want a battle, little cat? Alroight, then. Bisharp, use Metal Claw!"

"Counter with your own Metal Claw, Durus!" Gray shouted. The two Pokemon sprinted towards each other while Durus' claws extended and had a metallic sheen. The two Pokemon then swung at each other, and the attacks collided. Both Pokemon started to battle back and forth before Zypher's Bisharp smirked and kicked Durus in the stomach, sending the normal type flying into Gray. While Durus tried to get back up, Marcus and Chase stepped forward confidently with Audino and Riolu.

"Tara, you should probably make a break for it while you have the chance. The police ah coming, and there's no way I can take all of 'em on," Zypher whispered to the younger girl. Without hesitation, Tara dashed away from the battle.

"Riolu, use Force Palm and Quick Attack to stop her!" Marcus ordered, not wanting Tara to get away.

"Bisharp, blast 'em with Iron Head!" Zypher countered loudly as Riolu bolted towards Tara. The bipedal knife sprinted after Riolu and slammed his head into the fighting type while he was enveloped in silver energy. After being launched down the street, Riolu slowly got back up and Audino charged towards the steel and dark type.

"Mega Punch, Audino!" Audino's fist began to glow white and she wound back before punching the Bisharp in the face, sending the dark and steel type rolling back. He popped up, however, and glared at the normal type, who didn't look like she was about to back down.

"Finish that pretty little thing with a max powah Metal Claw!"

"Block it with Counter, Riolu!" Marcus shouted. Riolu sprinted forwards and dove in front of Audino, taking the attack head-on while he was glowing red. The fighting type then punched Bisharp in the face so hard he was sent flying into Zypher. Once again, the Pokemon got back up without a problem while everyone else's Pokemon were panting in exhaustion.

Suddenly, the cops arrived and the man smirked under his mask before getting on both of his knees and putting his hands in the air as if he were surrendering. The police cuffed the masked man and threw him in one of the cars before they checked in on the teens. After all the commotion, everyone headed back to the Pokemon Center in shock, and they sat down at a table in the dining hall.

"So Misty won't accept your gym challenge? Man, that sucks," Marcus said to Gray before taking a swig of his water. "I battled her earlier today, and she's really tough."

"Did you at least win?" Chase asked curiously. Marcus nodded and smiled at all of his Pokemon before answering verbally.

"Barely, haha. Thankfully, Riolu and Gible were able to pull out some pretty big wins, but everyone did really well and gave it there all! I can't thank them enough." Gray and Chase nodded at the statement before seeing all of Marcus' Pokemon getting along, while Gray's were divided into two groups.

"Is everyone alright in here?" The three teens turned to see Misty walking into the dining hall with a concerned look on her face. "I heard three trainers stopped one of the people. Would you mind standing up?" Slowly, Chase, Marcus, and Gray rose from their seats, and Misty walked over to them. "Thanks for helping out with that whole situation. Apparently those people were trying to capture a Pokemon in Cerulean Cave, but I can't imagine what it'd be."

"No problem, I'm always up for some action!" Marcus exclaimed with a bright smile. "But these two helped out a lot," Marcus said, stretching the truth as he pointed at Gray and Chase. Misty suddenly scowled at Gray, but that soon turned to a smile.

"Well, I guess that means I have to accept your gym challenge now, doesn't it?" the gym leader asked rhetorically, making Gray jump for joy. Before she could say anything, Misty bowed and walked out of the Pokemon Center, leaving Gray and her Pokemon in a frenzy.

"There's no way we're going to lose to her tomorrow!"

All is good! Just like last arc, Gray and Chase (along with Marcus) defeated Team Purity before the gym leader could get there (I swear this was by accident), and Misty has decided to accept Gray's challenge! Next chapter will be the gym battle, so get ready. Also, Marcus will be making another appearance in the next arc, where he and Gray will get to have their first battle. Till next time, peace out.

Again, I'd like to let you know I will be posting the first epilogue of Kalos pretty soon (within a few days), so keep an eye out!

1) Prediction's for next arc's chapters?

Next Chapter: "Screeching Serenity": After finally accepting Gray's challenge, Misty and our heroine face off! Will all of Gray's training pay off, or will Misty cruise to victory?
