Innocence

Part 2

Hi all, I forgot to post part 2. My sincere apologies.

Detective Jane Rizzoli stood looking out her hospital window with her arms crossed over her chest. It took her a few very painful slip ups to remember to prop her wrists against her forearms instead of palms.

Sighing, she couldn't shake her disappointment in her performance in apprehending Charles Hoyt. Images flashed through her mind for a brief moment of her surroundings, which had morphed into a dark basement, smelling of death and sour bodily fluids.

When she jerked her hands to try and pull the scalpels from her palms, she was jerked back into reality with a debilitating rush of pain emanating from her wounded palms as they came in contact with the window casing.

Closing her eyes she waited for the panic to dissolve back into the shuttered recesses of her mind, where hopefully she could keep them locked away.

When her heart beat settled, she once again folded her arms across her chest and resumed watching the world go by from her fourth story window. She tracked several different people until her eyes fell on a blond woman, whose gait she would recognize by sound alone, let alone sight. Jane was surprised that it took this long for Maura Isles to see her, or maybe, she had personal business here herself. No point in taking a chance and have her being interrogated by her watch dog.

"Hey Simms?" Rizzoli called over her shoulder.

A second later a military looking uniformed officer leaned in around the door frame, taking up most of the space with his muscled bulk.

"Need something Detective Rizzoli?" He questioned politely.

"Yep, two new hands, but since their fresh out, I just have a request."

Simms looked on eagerly awaiting instruction.

"Go ahead." He rushed out.

"If a beautiful blond about 5'5'' wants to come in and see me, please let her and make sure we're not disturbed."

With a nod, Simms slipped his bulk back through the frame and continued his guard duty.

Jane turned back to the window and resumed her people watching. It wasn't five minutes later that her hearing picked up the clicking of high heeled shoes.

After stating her business to Simms, Maura stepped through the doorway. She was startled when the uniformed officer pulled the door closed behind her. The weight of the atmosphere was growing heavier by the second, so heavy that she began to regret her choice to come and see Detective Rizzoli.

"C'mon Ms. Isles, I'm sure you came for more than to check out my lovely accommodations." Jane stated, still not turning from the window.

Maura cautiously stepped over to Jane within arm's reach, but she kept her hands gripped around her purse strap.

"Ah yes Jane, I mean Detective Rizzoli, I came to inquire of your health and to show you my support with…" Maura trailed off, the words sounded hollow, even to her.

Jane scoffed to herself, if this was going to happen, this talk, it was up to her to start it.

"Are you here to vent or to thank me?" Jane asked as she turned to face the blond teacher.

Maura dropped her eyes to the floor. Truthfully she had not thought that far ahead, her only desire was to make sure that Jane was alright.

"Honestly, Jane, I do not know how to answer that." She chanced a look at the Detective. She was once again drawn into the dark eyes of the other woman. Maura had to look away because she felt the familiar stirrings that were so much a part of her daily routine since the beginning of the current school year.

Jane watched the older woman press her right hand to her lower abdomen and take a deep breath as quietly as she could. The detective could not help but chuckle as she shook her head. Ms. Isles still desired her it seemed.

"Maura, may I call you Maura?"

"Yes of course Jane, I mean Detective."

Jane waved her title away with a shake of her head.

"Look, we both know what happened the last day I was in your class. You can't deny it and I can't deny it. I myself do not ever want to deny it, unless I'm speaking with my superiors, then I have to."

Maura looked pained at the truth that was hiding behind that statement. She had been played and she had been caught, but yet; somehow, this Detective protected her, for some reason.

"Why, why did you put your career on the line for me?"

Jane took a breath and released it, pausing to put her thoughts in some semblance of order.

"I can't really explain it, Maura." Jane look down and away still trying to find the right words. "I just had a gut feeling that you are really an innocent. "

Maura stood there and felt awful. She felt as if someone had reached out and slapped her. 'Jane thinks I'm good, oh gods!'

Maura took a breath to speak, but was stalled when Jane laid her right wrapped hand across her shoulder.

"Remember Maura, do not ever confess to me in anyway." The detective held her eye to convey the weight and seriousness of her statement.

Maura's nodd was almost imperceptible as she agreed.

The blond teacher broke eye contact and let her eyes roam over the dark haired womans body. Even in sweat pants and a t-shirt, Jane was undeniably attractive. Bringing her hazel eyes back up to the detectives chocolate brown one's, she could not hide the her arousal swept across her petite body and centered itself in her nether regions.

"Jane?"

"Yes?"

"I really want to kiss you." Maura stated emphatically.

Jane search Maura's face for her truth. A truth which stirred her loins and left her panties uncomfortably wet.

Somehow, Maura was closer without even moving. She shivered as the teacher did indeed take a step closing the gap until there their fronts brushed.

God knows that this small, elegant woman stirred her emotionally to need her so quickly. Jane wanted Maura. She wanted to lay her back on her hopital bed, penetrate her most sacred of her body and take her until neither of them could refute the bond that had developed between them over the course of the nine months.

They were close now. Jane could see the gold flecks in the hazel eyes. The air was heavy with need and anticipation. When Maura ran the tip of her tongue across her lips to wet them, Jane followed that tongue back into it home.

When their lips connected it was demanding, claiming, conquering and submissive all at once.

The taste of Maura's tongue was so sweet, Jane pondered that it must be what ambrosia tastes like in its deliciousness. Surely this kiss must be what it would have been like if it was blessed by Greek goddess Aphrodite, by the way it consumed her with its power.

Jane had no choice but to step back and harshly inhale a much needed breath.

She looked at Maura as she to tried to recuperate from the lack of oxegen.

When her breathing was under control, Maura wrapped her arms around Jane's neck and laid her head against the taller womans shoulder.

Jane pulled her closer using her forearms. When they were settled against eachother, the stood there quietly and allowed themselves to just be.

There was an warm energy that was passing back and forth between them. It was soothing with its ebb and flow. They must have stood there for awhile because Jane was startled when she heard her uni tell the kitchen aid that she was not to be disturbed. Looking at the clock on the wall it read 6:15pm.

"Maura we need to talk before you leave. I need you to do something if you want us to work."

Maura opened her eyes as she emerged from the tranquil like state she had slipped into when Jane was holding her. Rubbing her hand across her eyes, the teacher attempted to shake the cobwebs loose in her head.

"What do you need, Jane?"

Jane scratched her head and looked up at the teacher. Firm in her resolve, she spoke bluntly.

"If you want a chance to see where this goes with us, then I want you to get therapy. I need you to do this, because if not, we should end this here and say goodbye."

It horrified Maura to think not about being able to touch Jane ever again. In truth, Maura had already sought out a therapist to work with over the summer.

"I can and will do that Jane. I really want to persue this thing between us. I'm so tired of being lonely."

Jane reached for her again and the smaller woman tenderly. The detective couldn't even guess what this relationship would bring into her life, but one thing it had for sure was the beginning of love.

"So how do we do this Jane?"

Jane thought for a moment.

"We do it this way. You and I will take the summer and work on ourselves. We can video chat, text and talk on the phone, but we need to be dedicated healing ourselves. Then September first, we will pickup right here and try to build something."

Maura agreed. They held onto eachother a few minutes more and then separated. One one last chaste kiss, Maura left her heart with the detective. She was both scared and elated at the same time. She was going to become strong enough to be Jane's love. She was going to be who she always wanted to be. For the first time, she really believed.
