Chapter 15
Terrence took my hand leading me towards Grannie's, when we got there he stopped just at the gate making me run into him when he turned to face me.
"What are we doing?" I asked as he pulled me against him kissing me hard, I laughed under his kiss and pushed him off. "What's gotten into you?" I asked.
"Marry me" He whispered his forehead rested against mine.
"Where did that come from?" I asked in utter shock.
"It comes from the fact that I love you Es and I don't want that witch to get in the way of us being together."
"I love you Terrance, but you and I both know that this isn't how you want to propose."
"So that's a no?" He asked disappointed.
"I don't know what it is, because I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I sighed taking his hands. "Just give me some time okay? I need to know that all this is over and we can be safe."
"Fine" He said with a sigh turning to go into grannie's.
"Hey, I'm sorry" I said going after him.
"I know, I'm not mad I promise." He said glancing at me.
"You still love me?" I asked he laughed.
"Yes" He said smiling.
"Good" I said as he opened the door and we walking into the diner.
We sat down in a booth and Terrence gave Ruby our order, I was still new at this whole thing. I smiled softly watching him. Regina walked out of the back room coming towards us.
I glanced up as she come over getting a sinking feeling in my stomach.
"Elsa, I was wondering if I couldn't steal you away, I need some help."
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"We need to find Henry's book and we need to track Zalena, make sure that she isn't up to anything she shouldn't."
"Yeah, is that alright?" I asked looking at Terrence who shrugged,
"Sure" He said I sighed getting up and giving him a kiss. "Be careful" He whispered
"Always" I said following Regina and Emma out. Henry ran out behind us.
"Where are you really going?" He asked.
"It's for work kid, I'm following a lead."
"What lead?"
"It's complicated" Emma said with a sigh.
"Is it about the person that put dad in the hospital?" Neal looked at Emma.
"Yeah it is."
"Then tell me."
"It will be better if we can just talk after this is all solved."
"No, you've been lying to me since we got here. I deserve to know, everything." He said as Emma tried to walk away.
"No, you don't" She said turning back to face him. "I'm your mother and I know best, so you're going to have to deal with that for right now. Understood?"
"Yeah, I think so." Henry said Emma nodded and turned once again. "Wait I need your keys and if I'm going to need a prisoner I would at least like my gameboy." She sighed handing him her keys before leaving. Henry turned and ran back inside, I looked at Regina who closed her eyes.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah." She said locking her arm with mine. "What about you? I feel like there was some tension going on with you and Terry."
"He proposed a little while ago." I said with a sigh.
"What did you say?" She asked.
"Nothing"
"Why?" She asked I looked at her. "You two seemed like everything was good between you."
"It is, but I just… I don't know. It's complicated." I said walking quicker to catch up with Emma and Neal.
When we got to the house we searched Mary Margaret's closet looking for the book. I wasn't paying much attention as I searched boxes looking for this allusive fairy tale book. Every now and then I would see Regina look at me but I avoided her gaze.
"Es I think Terrence just texted me, it's for you" Neal said handing me his phone.
'Neal tell Elsa I'm sorry and I love her. I was being irrational this morning, there was no reason to be angry at her.'
I smiled to myself letting out a soft sigh. Handing Neal back his phone I looked at Regina who was now staring at me.
"Is it alright if I leave? I have to take care of some things at home." I said Regina nodded.
I hurried out of the apartment to see it was snowing, I smiled and ran towards the house. When I reached the house I ran inside, Terrence tuned and looked at me from the kitchen. I froze a soft smile creeping across my face.
"Hey" I said out of breath.
"You got my text" He said, I didn't say anything I only walked towards him grabbing his shirt collar I pulled him closer to me kissing him softly, he kissed back harder this time his hands moving to my waist. "I'm sorry" He said looking at me.
"So am I, you know you are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me Terrence. Don't ever forget that." I said running my fingers through his hair.
"Do you remember when we first met?" He asked I smiled nodding softly.
"Aly took me to the school and you invited me to play with you and the other kids."
"Then you slipped on ice and I came to your rescue." He said beaming, I laughed rolling my eyes.
"Somehow I always manage to get hurt around you"
"Not always" He replied defending himself.
"Mhm" I smiled.
"How did everything go with the book?"
"Not sure, I left when they were still looking for it." I said keeping my body against his.
"Want to go help?" He asked, I bit my lip and nodded.
"Yeah"
"Alright want to put something warmer on?" He asked as I walked to the door, looking back at him he smiled. "I'm kidding." He said with a laugh as he pulled on his coat.
We walked down the sidewalk towards Mary Margaret's seeing Neal and Emma standing outside talking.
"Neal I don't know if I want him to remember. I want him to remember you but I, our life was good in New York" I heard Emma say.
"I know, but you and I both know he needs to." Neal replied glancing at us, he smiled politely. "So did you forgive him?" He asked Emma turned moving to Neal's side as she did.
"I can't stay mad at him." I said with a smile. "Did you guys find the book?"
"Mhm, now we have to find Henry." Emma said as David, Mary Margaret and Regina came out of the apartment.
"Why don't Terrence and I go keep an eye on Zalena while you guys find Henry, just to make sure she doesn't try anything." I suggested, David pulled his Walkie off his belt and handed it to Terrence.
"Use this if anything happens, Emma has the other one." He said Terrence nodded putting it on his own belt.
Before we could even leave Regina reached out grabbing my arm, I turned looking at her.
"No matter what happens know that I'm so proud of you." She said softly so no one else heard the small exchange. I smiled pulling her into a hug.
"Thank you for everything" I whispered before we parted.
I watched her as Terrence and I headed towards the old farm house, I wasn't sure what we would face there but I was glad that I had given my mother that moment. A part of me had needed that after spending so many years without Aly. I smiled softly at the thought of her, something I hardly did since she had died, I smiled at the idea that I would get revenge on her death.
"Do you know what happened to Oswin?" I asked suddenly, I remembered nothing from my short time there before I was sent to the Enchanted Forest.
"No, I remember getting to the Castle just after he had sent you away and then he sent me to the forest, that's the last thing I remember before my new memories in Storybrooke started." He said helping me over a fallen tree.
"Were you with anyone in your 30 years in Storybrooke?" I asked.
"No actually." He said glancing back at me. "I was with men" He said I stopped looking at him in utter shock.
"Are you serious?" I asked he laughed shaking his head.
"You fall for my tricks to easy there Es" He smirked continuing to walk.
"Well maybe you shouldn't tell a girl you wish to marry such things" I said feeling old fashioned with my word choices, I smiled a little at the way it sounded rolling off my tongue.
He stopped motioning for me to be quiet, I looked around straining to hear. Something passed beside me deeper in the woods. I could feel the ice running through me as I cupped my hand making snowflakes in my palm, I would use the snow as an advantage if I needed to. That was the one good thing about my magic, it didn't need to be my own snow for me to use it. Normally I would reach for Terrence but today I was feeling brave and stood my ground. The movement started in the tree above me, Terrence grabbed my hand pulling me back behind him as a Monkey dropped right where I had been standing. Terrence and I both took a step back not wanting to get any closer but unable to run. The monkey was almost mocking us by not taking it's beady red eyes off of us. An arrow flew past me straight into the monkey, spinning around I saw Robin Hood standing there bow drawn. I sighed closing my eyes.
"What are you guys doing out here?" Robin asked.
"Regina asked us to keep an eye on Zalena." Terrence said, Robin looked at him confused.
"She asked us to do the same." Robin said, I glanced at Terrence.
"Why would she need 10 people to watch Zalena?" I asked still looking at Terrence.
"She doesn't" Terrence replied.
"She doesn't want me there…" I said softly. "If something happens she doesn't want me to be there. Why would she do that if she wanted my help?" I asked looking at Terrence.
"Elsa I'm sure she has a reason."
"Well I'm not walking away this time from a possible fight." I said turning to go back towards town.
"I'm not letting you leave." Terrence said, I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at him. "Not without me anyway." He said with a half smile. I nodded walking away as he ran up to me.
We walked towards town when we saw the flying monkeys heading toward the docks. Looking at Terrence I felt my heart fall to the pit of my stomach. We ran towards the docks, unsure of where to go. I stopped forming a snowflake in my hand, holding it up I blew on it lightly letting it float off my hand.
"Looks like they are over there." I said following the floating snowflake.
"Where did you learn to do that?" Terrence asked following me to one of the boat sheds.
"Oswin, but it never worked before, that was just a long shot." I said with a laugh.
Reaching the door, I felt a sudden wave come over me. My mind raced, filling with memories of the last year; Terrence proposing, Regina and I meeting, our last days in the enchanted forest, Regina and I not being able to say our goodbye's… Everything. I gasped looking at Terrence, he grabbed me pulling me into a warm embrace.
"I remember" I whispered.
"So do I" He said running his hand up and down my back slowly.
"No, I remember everything. I know how to destroy Zalena." I said turning away from him, pushing open the door I ran inside. I saw Regina standing with Henry, Mary Margaret and David were standing close together their arms around each other. Neal had his hand around Emma as she leaned against him comfortably.
"Elsa" Regina breathed letting go of Henry.
"Mom" I smiled, hurrying over I hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry, I tried to get to you and say goodbye." She said quietly.
"I know." I replied loving having her, actually her, before today I didn't feel close with her. However remembering the missing year I knew that what she and I had was a pure mother daughter relationship.
I pulled away and looked at everyone.
"I know how to defeat Zalena." I said Regina looked at me.
"Yes we know, we have to get her pendent using light magic." Mary Margaret said looking at David.
"No it's not, that will only weaken her."
"What do we do?" Regina asked.
"We need to take a trip to OZ." I said with a small smirk.
