Day 8
"So was I hallucinating?" I asked with displeasure as Komui wrote on a clipboard in the small lab. After what seemed like eternity, he stopped jotting down stuff and sighed.
"You're lucky it wasn't pertinent on your mental state. It should wear off by the end of today if you take this tablet." He explained as he hands me a small pill which I put in my pocket. "Take that when you have lunch today and it should start taking effect. Now tell me, how did you come to meet this 'cloaked man?'"
"Well, me and Lenalee went to town earlier today and-"
"Lenalee snuck out without telling me!? What if she had gotten hurt?" Komui complained and then jabbed a finger in my direction, "I knew you were a bad influence on her innocent mind!"
"Hey it was her idea! But anyway back to the point. We met Lavi in the town and then a kid came up to us saying that there was Akuma attacking his friends. Then the three of us destroyed most of them but three of them escaped into the forest and I chased after them. But after they were gone, I saw a man and I chased after him thinking it was one in disguise but then he snapped his fingers and I 'imagined' that I was sinking in sand and snakes were trying to bite me but it was only Poison Ivy and logs."
"Oh yes, I did find bite marks and traces of Poison Ivy on your skin, so here." He handed me a bottle of ointment, probably for the itching I was refusing to do. I tucked the bottle into my trouser pocket as I adjusted the white bandages around both on my upper arms. Luckily, the snake wasn't poisonous.
"Hmm, that man may have the powers of a Noah. But why would there be another one?" Komui said to himself as he tapped his chin. I gave him a questioning look, edging him to go on. He snapped out of his trance as he readjusted his glasses.
"The Millennium Earl has a group, a clan you could say, who are like his generals for the hoards of Akuma. They call themselves the Clan of Noah, originating from the tale of Noah's Ark. To our knowledge, there are at least six members but the one you described seems like a seventh. I'll have to see if I can confirm that so in the meantime, get some lunch and take that pill before the Hallucinations get worse." Chief Komui described as he scooted me out of his lab and shut the door behind me. That was really weird, but I guess that's Komui for you. I headed towards my room to drop off my coat because it was rubbing against my bandages which were tinted pink.
I open up my door and throw my jacket on my bed, taking off my finger-less gloves too, and then I headed into the bathroom to change my bandages. I carefully unwrap the bloody wraps and put them on the counter. I look in my mirror and look at the two bead sized marks on each arm. They were all swollen and totally red and looked like they were infected. But then I couldn't resist the urge to scratch and I rubbed my whole arm above my elbow because I think the Ivy didn't infect the Innocence. I soon stopped and took out the cream and rubbed it all over my arms and on the wounds. Then when it dried I reapplied fresh bandages over the bite marks.
The bandages were painfully obvious because I had my sleeveless turtleneck on and it was too hot to change into something else anyway. I wash the blood off my hands and then quickly wash my face with the sink water. I dab off the water with my washcloth but when I looked at my refection, there was something in the corner by the closed door.
Or rather, someone.
"Your purpose is to destroy Akuma. My purpose on the other hand, is to kill you!" The clocked figure said with venom in his voice. When I whip my head around, he's gone, as if he was never there. I quickly stand up and walk out of the bathroom to find that no one was in my room either. It must have been the hallucinations.
I put my gloves back on and bust out of the door, desperate to go and take the pill. Soon I arrived at the mess hall and ordered a simple meal of 4 bowls of Lo Mein and 3 bowls of Sesame Seed Chicken. Once the order was ready, I quickly sat down, popped the tablet into my water and drunk it. Soon my eyes felt a little less blurry and I didn't feel so paranoid. But soon I hear loud footsteps and I slowly look behind me to find Lavi dragging a pissed looking Kanda with Lenalee trailing them. Lavi let go of Kanda's arm and squeezed me in a crushing hug.
"Sasha! I haven't seen you since this morning! Did you get checked out by Komui?" Lavi babbled out as he held my shoulders and looked at me.
"Yes I did, the hallucinations should be gone." I said quietly, not to draw anymore attention to me, like that was possible though.
"That's good news. What's under the bandages?" Lenalee asked as she touched them. I flinch in pain and she recoils her finger, thinking she hurt me.
"It's just the snake bites, my arms will heal." I couldn't put it any other way without making myself seem crazy. I peer behind Lenalee to find an uninterested Kanda with his arms crossed. "Butter-Knife, it's nice to see you again." I said in a blunt tone.
"Dragon Lady." He replied in the same tone and we glared at each other for a second until Lavi broke up the tense silence.
"Hey, hey, let's try not to get Sasha worked up. We have to let her heal." Lavi protested as he waved his hands in defeat. I sighed and stood up, kind of feeling light headed.
"I'm going to rest up, being prodded with tools in wounds takes a lot out me." I said as I remembered the horrors Komui did to me. Why would he put tweezers in my wounds in the first place? "And besides, I don't know when I'll be bombarded with another mission. It was nice seeing you Lavi, Lenalee, Butter-Knife." As I said Kanda's nickname, an anger mark appeared on his forehead.
"One day we're going to settle this, Dragon Lady!" Kanda yelled back, attracting more attention from all the Finders in the mess hall. I turned to face him when I neared the door, a confident look plastering my face.
"And when that day comes, I'll be ready!" I called as I winked at him, getting him more flustered as I turned to exit, voices of Finders whispering about what just happened. I headed back to my room, taking of my boots and gazed up at the ceiling with my arms behind my head.
Since I first joined, I decked out my room with a small desk with a cushioned chair, my bed was placed in the corner, and I had a painting given to me by the father of the kids I saved today. The painting was of two hands reaching up and were grabbing chains that were wrapped around a heart with rose petals scattering everything. The man told me it was mankind reaching out to save the holiness in the world or what was left of it. I guess it was his gratitude and it was the best one yet. Not just a peck on the cheek by the teen I saved or a hug from the sobbing mother I just saved, this was something I can be reminded of and it was pretty cool actually.
Soon my eyelids started to droop and I felt myself doze off.
Wrapping a shred of cloth around two small, broken floorboards, I created a cross that I stuck in the dirt at the scene of my family's death. The wood was chard and black and I didn't dare to peek under the lumps in the wreckage, too scared to what I would be faced with. So at the break of dawn, after the strange man left, I started off on my journey to nowhere. Tears in my eyes, I dared not to look back, scared that I won't be able to leave. So I trudged out of the forest, not experienced with the sound of nothing, I was too used to someone talking and holding my hand. I gripped the scrap of paper the red haired man left along with a small sack of coins and kept walking barefoot. Even though my arms were normal, although rough, I could feel the blood beneath my skin was different. I knew I was part of some plan, I just had to walk and see what comes my lonely way...
