Day 12

I was right, this was a long train ride to Caston, granted I did fall asleep once or twice but that was when Vincent was talking about his adventures. Don't get me wrong, this guy was talented and I could see that he took his work as a Finder with pride but sometimes I think he's exaggerating. None the less, I think his tales were really detailed and amusing at the same time, especially the times he was Kanda's Finder.

So about five minutes later we get off the train and head down a trail that was well worn, Vincent was carrying the back pack full of food and supplies and I was carrying the map that Komui so graciously lent me. The sun was slowly descending in the sky because the train ride was so long and we got to the station kind of late but I hope we don't have to stay here overnight, the forest looks darker and more mysterious than a normal one you could say. Suddenly all rustling in the dense trees stop and everything becomes eerily quiet. The both of us still continue to walk, but this time with better care and we were looking out for any serious signs of Akuma.

"Papa..." A small timid voice called from the brush somewhere in front of us. I tensed up and clenched my fists, ready for a fight, even if the voice sounded human, it could be a disguise.

"Sasha, look there." Vincent whispered as he grabbed my shoulder protectively, a look of concentration overcoming his easy going features. I glanced in his direction and saw what he had seen, a boy. The kid was probably about ten or twelve and his clothes were torn and scratched as he dragged a bow and carried his quiver of arrows upon his back. Was he a hunter or an Akuma? Either way I transformed my arms and took a step away from Vincent and towards the boy.

"Hey kid, what's wrong?" I said and he whipped his head up, tears glistening in the remaining sunlight left. He gazed down at my black arms and quickly gripped his bow and shakily pulled out an arrow, locking it in place in his bow.

"Get away from me you monster! Y-you killed P-papa!" The boy cried out as he raised the weapon to eye level, his shaky grip making it hard for him to aim at me.

"Just put the bow down, besides, those won't work on m-" He let go of the arrow and it soared through the air, straight into my arm that I raised to block it. I don't understand why it went through, my arms are almost impossible to penetrate! The arrow glowed in my arm, thankfully the arrow just went no more than an inch into my skin. I yanked it out with some pain shooting through my arm and I tried again to reason with this scared kid.

"We're not the enemy here, just listen!" I called out to him as I dodged two more arrows he shot at me. This time Vincent stepped in and ran at the kid, the boy letting out a cry of fear as he raised his arm in front of his face in defense. This kid was almost helpless, it was sad to see this kid in a state like this; scared, angry, and sorrowful. Vincent stopped dead in his tracks and knelt down to look at the young archer and started to speak softly to him.

"Hey kid, it's okay, we're here to protect you. That lady over there is an Exorcist okay? She's here to fight the bad monsters that hurt you and your daddy. My name is Vincent Boboke and I'm going to be your personal bodyguard, how does that sound?" Vincent finished as the boy calmed down and glanced at me. But I never knew Vincent was the one who could speak to a kid's level, this was surprising.

"M-my name is Toku Shicanto."

"That's a nice name, mine is Sasha Wright. What exactly happened to your father?" I asked as I walked up to the two and Toku stopped sniffling.

"We don't have homes so we travel from place to place and each town we go to we do things like hunting and other things for rewards so we don't go broke. But then we stopped here for the night and then a giant ball shaped monster came out of nowhere and shot through the window. Papa protected me but he... he crumbled to ash and I killed the thing with my bow and arrow. That was a couple hours ago and I've been going through the forest, too scared to go to sleep." Toku sniffled and re-wiped his dampening eyes. Vincent put a hand on his shoulder and told him it was all going to be okay. Wow, this kid is a solider, but I think that his bow and arrow are his anti Akuma weapon, considering how it was able to pierce my arm so easily.

"Hey Toku, can you tell me where you got that bow and arrow?" Apparently Vincent was thinking the same thing I was and asked Toku. At first he looked puzzled but then opened his mouth to answer.

"Well, Papa got it from me when I was seven and the lady who was selling it told me I was special and gave it to us for free. Since then I mastered it and it never seems to run out of arrows." I gave Vincent a knowing look and he gave it right back. This little ten year old, is a holder of Innocence. Actually, he kind of reminded me of Kanda. Toku had shoulder length black hair in a ponytail and dark, but not gloomy, eyes and he wore simple black pants and a shirt. But besides the comparison, we had to tell Toku that he was destined to become an Exorcist.

"Toku, Vincent and I think that you might-"

"LOOK OUT!" Toku's shouting cut me off and I turned around to see a hoard of Akuma hovering in the sky, their canons set on the three of us. Luckily my arms were still in their battle form as I quickly turned around to block a few shots with my hand.

"Get Toku out of here!" I shouted at Vincent who nodded and picked up Toku, all the while he shouted at the Akuma not to hurt me. I leaped up into the trees and then onto the first out of many Akuma and stabbed my claws into the sorrow etched mask. I jumped from enemy to enemy, destroying each and every one until there was about fifteen left. This was an easy battle, all of them were level ones and I started to wonder when would the level twos show up. Suddenly I saw the next Akuma I landed on open it's mouth and out came Vincent screaming and bleeding. My head started to throb and I felt like I was falling. Next thing I know I landed on my side on the ground as Akuma started to surround me with their canons. I know this feeling before, these are the hallucinations I felt last week. That means that Noah, Travan, is here.

I quickly recover and leap up to the closest Akuma and the res fire at it. After the first one blew up in ashes, I hopped Akuma from Akuma until all but one was destroyed. I land on the ground and face the remaining Akuma but this one had a strange shadowed figure standing on top of it. I dash forward and slash upwards, destroying the final Akuma and the figure jumped down and landed a few feet from my recovering body.

"So we meet again, Steel Daggers. How have you been since your last hallucination?" The man said as he stepped into the moonlight. He had short black curly hair, black slacks, a pale dress shirt rolled at the elbows, sunglasses, and black gloves that were finger-less. Was this Travan or someone else looking for a fight?

"Are you Travan?" I said with venom dripping from my voice, gripping my fists in anger. He smirked and nodded, suddenly too good to answer my questions.

"Why would you kill that little boy's father!? He didn't do anything to you but you go and murder people in cold blood! Give me a reason not to kill you!" I screamed at him, baring my fists in front of me in a fighting stance. He shook his head and chuckled deeply.

"Ha Sasha, you still don't get it. Murdering is all apart of the job, innocent or not it's all in a day's work. And as for giving you reason to not kill me, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." Travan said as he started to walk up to me. Not wanting to take a chance, I dashed forward and threw a punch and two kicks but they all fell through his body. He grinned as I heard movement behind me and I turned to see five other gray skinned Travans. Damn it, he pulled another hallucination over my eyes.

"Silly Exorcist, you can't touch me but I can surly hurt you!" The Noah shouted as he grabbed my arm and threw me into a tree. I looked up to see snakes spiraling down from the branches, I knew they were a trick of the mind but Travan's tricks were ten times more powerful. I rebounded off the tree and tried to hit as many mirror images as I can as I tried to figure out which one was the real Noah. I hit something solid but the six of them rearranged so I couldn't tell which one it was. Suddenly two of the six broke a sword out of a tree, chances are that it was a branch but it would still work and feel like a real sword.

"Have you ever been sliced to death by a sword, little Exorcist?" The two of them said as I fended off the rest. My hits and kicks were still noneffective but I still fought to keep them at bay. The two Travans with the swords charged forward, I dodged one of them but the other sliced open the back of my shoulder. I slashed at the one who cut me and this time he got hurt and took longer to heal. Now it makes sense, the ones who are holding a real object pretending to be something are venerable to my hits.

So I focused all my energy into destroying the swordsmen first and soon they reverted to mist. The other four charged at me and I ran through the forest, watching when I was to fast for them some would run into a tree and then disintegrate into mist too. In the end I made my way back to where I started, with many cuts on my back, legs, and face. I just feel like passing out but I'm pretty sure I've done enough of that in the past.

"Aw, such a pity too, I thought that you were going to fall tonight." Travan said as he reappeared from the shadows, a sarcastic smirk playing on his lips. I faced him, still panting pretty hard.

"You... You bastard!" I breathed out.

"Is that all you have to say to me?" Travan sighed as he suddenly appeared before me and gripped my neck. I choked out a command but it was drowned out as I grabbed both of his wrists and tried with my remaining might to cause some harm. But it was no use, all I saw on his face was enjoyment and blocked eyes. Then a loud sinking noise came from behind him and his smile dropped from his face.

"Was that you, little archer?" Travan called over his shoulder which had an arrow sticking out of it, never losing his grip on me. But there were two more arrows which sunk themselves into Travan's collarbone and bicep. There Toku was, standing his ground with his bow raised and already notched with another Innocence tipped arrow, a look of hatred on his features.

"Put her down, now!" Toku shouted as Travan had a blank look on his face. Damn it, if he doesn't let go soon, I'll go unconscious. Travan then started to chuckle and let me go of my neck. I crashed to the ground as Vincent came to my side with three daggers in between his knuckles.

"Heh, enjoy your victory for now. I refuse to fight against a child who is fighting the wrong battle. So take my advice kid, for the next time we meet you'll get kil-"

"Go to Hell you-" Toku replied as he pulled the string back further.

"As I was saying, have a nice day Exorcists." Travan finished as he opened a portal to whatever place he came from but I had one last question for him.

"Wait! You said that thing about bonfires on my birthday, what does that mean?" I called and he turned to look at me with a plain face. He then took off his sunglasses and looked me straight in the eyes. He had a diagonal scar going across his eye, the same exact scar as my... my-

"Now you put the pieces together my dear." He finally said as he stepped through the hole and it closed behind him. I can't believe that it's him, why is he here, why is he even alive after that incident?!

"Sasha who was that?" Vincent said as he shook me a little, looking at mys cuts and bruises as Toku came up to us. I was speechless, this whole battle for the Innocence Cube just turned personal, and impossible.

"Yeah Miss Sasha, who was that evil man?" Toku said as he knelt by my side and grabbed my still activated hand. I looked at both of them with a blank stare, beads of water forming in my brown eyes.

"H-he's my brother."
