Chapter 8: A Bond of Equality and Learning
"Yes, we shall." Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle replied. Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane smiled brightly while Sorena, Sprinter, Stryker, Akira, Caruso, Edme, Zena, Artemis, Darkfang, Lilith, Amaya, Ebony, Crowden, Raven, Aleron, Spike, Magnus, Sera, Spark, Electra, Bolt, Violet, Nightus and Onyx exchanged excited looks. "Did you four bring suitable clothes for Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle when they shape-shift?" Elenia asked. "Yes, we did." Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava said and unpacked four different outfits of their own clothes, placing them on the ground. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle examined them, sniffing and pawing at the clothing. "Forgive me for saying this, bud but it will be really embarrassing, awkward and uncomfortable to see you naked in your Human Form, Toothless." Hiccup told Toothless, closing his mind to everyone else. "That is all right, Hiccup. I will try to cover myself and..." Toothless lowered his mental voice to a whisper. "I am sure the first man and women you want to see naked are Nava, Astrid and Aniu." He said with a naughty grin then burst out laughing at Hiccup's shocked and mortified expression.
"TOOTHLESS!" Hiccup shouted and whacked the laughing Night Fury over his head, drawing shocked and concerned looks. "Sorry, Hiccup, I just had to say that!" Toothless laughed uproariously, rolling around on the ground. "You disgusting pervert!" Hiccup yelled at him even though he could not help laughing himself. "I will not say it again, I promise." Toothless said and stood back up, trying to stop himself from laughing. Elenia walked over to them. "What is going on here?" She asked, raising the feathers above her golden eyes. "Nothing." Hiccup said. "Just a naughty joke." Toothless added. "Hmm." Elenia frowned in disapproval, looking back and forth between Hiccup and Toothless. "Are both of you ready for this next step in your Soul-Bond as a Dragon and his Rider?" She inquired. "We are ready." Hiccup and Toothless promised solemnly. Elenia smiled and led them over to a clear patch of grass. Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle were led over to adjoining patches of grass by Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane.
The four Soul-Mates sat with their respective Soul-Dragons in a square, far enough away from each other that they could clearly focus on only the person sitting in front of them. Sorena, Sprinter, Stryker, Akira, Caruso, Edme, Zena, Raven, Ebony, Crowden, Aleron, Darkfang, Lilith, Amaya, Spike, Magnus, Sera, Spark, Electra, Bolt, Violet, Nightus and Onyx watched from a distance far enough away that Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle would not be bothered by them. Knowing their pupils were ready, Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane each sat with one pair to instruct them. Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava made sure their minds were closed off to everyone else except for their Soul-Dragon and the Griffin, Phoenix, Alicorn and Hippogriff watching over them, as did Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle. The sensation of having their minds opened to only two other minds left them with a deep sense of loneliness.
"We await your instructions, Masters." Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle said and Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane nodded proudly. "The meditation that allows Soul-Bonded and Riders to gain the Form of their Soul-Bond in addition to their own is sacred, intimate and special, for it Bonds the Dragon and Soul-Rider deeply in a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual connection that is unbreakable and as far as we know, there is not a soul who can imagine, comprehend, understand or even know the full extent, power and mystery of the connection between Soul-Bonded Dragons and their Riders." The Griffin, Phoenix, Alicorn and Hippogriff spoke as one, keeping their minds opened to one another so they could teach, guide and train their pupils by thinking the same thoughts, speaking the same words and doing the same actions.
"Beware but do not fear, for once your meditation is complete, you eight will be changed and become people. Better, stronger, smarter, faster, wiser, fiercer and otherwise more powerful than you eight were before. Your memories, personalities, characteristics and traits, everything that makes you eight who you are, will improve as you become one with your Soul-Bonded Rider or Dragon. Once this is done and your training is complete, you eight, Hiccup and Toothless, Astrid and Stormfly, Aniu and Heatwave, Nava and Icicle will assume the mantel as Soul-Bonded Dragons and Riders, Sentinels of the Land, Protectors of the Realm, Defenders of the World and Guardians of Peace, Justice, Mercy, Unity and Everything That Is Good and Pure. Are you ready to proceed, trust our guidance and follow our instructions?" Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane asked. "Yes, Masters." Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle answered.
"Good. First step: Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu, Nava, sit cross-legged on the ground and hold out your hands between your knees with your palms down. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave, Icicle, sit down and lean your heads forward until your snouts are touching your Soul-Rider's hand. Once that is done, you will begin meditation, focusing only on each other and no one else, not even yourself, the physical contact will aid in this. Now...begin." Their four mentors said. Hiccup and Toothless, Astrid and Stormfly, Aniu and Heatwave, Nava and Icicle closed their eyes and began meditating, clearing their minds, maintaining physical contact with their Soul-Dragon or Rider and focusing only on them. As their meditation progressed, the four Soul-Bonded Dragon/ Rider pairs delved deeper and deeper into each other's minds, memories, thoughts, emotions, bodies and souls until they began to experience just what it was like to be the same species as their Soul-Bond.
They learned so much about each other, their good qualities, their bad qualities and their ugly qualities, everything that made them who and what they were. Hiccup was experiencing what it was like to be a Night Fury, Toothless a Human, Astrid a Deadly Nadder, Stormfly a Human, Aniu a Summer Dragon even though she already had her Summer Dragon Form but now her connection and power with her Dragon Form was growing stronger and stronger, Heatwave an Elf-Fae, Nava a Winter Dragon even though he already had his Winter Dragon Form but now his connection and power with his Dragon Form was growing stronger and stronger and Icicle an Elf-Fae. Together, they learned of each other's joys, sorrows, loves, hates, achievements, failures, mistakes, regrets, enjoyments, pains, sufferings, pleasures and so much else. Nava could sense Icicle had traumatic memories that formed an aura of sorrow, grief, guilt, horror, pain and suffering that had been locked away inside her. He wondered what they were but decided not to ask, not wanting to ruin such a momentous occasion. As they meditated, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava began shape-shifting into their Dragon Forms, as did Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle who were shape-shifting into their Human or Elf-Fae Forms.
Despite having only shape-shifted into their Dragon Forms once, Hiccup and Astrid barely had time to enjoy and revel in the experience before they shape-shifted back and this time, when their meditation was over, both of them could shape-shift into their Dragon Forms for as long as they wanted then back into their Human, Bird and Mammal Forms. As for Aniu and Nava, they had been shape-shifting in and out of their Dragon Forms ever since they first gained them when they were ten years old but their next time would be different from the usual experience because of their Soul-Bonds to Heatwave and Icicle. As time passed, a powerful surge of magic grew within them and they knew it was their bodies shifting and changing and their minds adapting to that of a dragon's with instincts and memories.
Before they knew it, they had very nearly finished shape-shifting. Hiccup sensed himself shape-shifting into a Night Fury, Astrid into a Deadly Nadder, Aniu into her Summer Dragon Form and Nava into his Winter Dragon Form. Toothless and Stormfly sensed themselves turning into Humans and Heatwave and Icicle sensed themselves shape-shifting into Elf-Faes. All four dragons felt the breeze blowing and the grass tickling their now scale-less skin, drawing to their attention the fact that they were now...naked...in their Human or Elf-Fae Forms. Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava, on the other hand, felt the breeze blowing and the grass tickling their now...scaled skin...and realized they were now in their Dragon Forms. Their meditation ended and Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle opened their eyes and backed away from each other to get a better look at themselves and each other.
Hiccup's Night Fury Form had midnight black scales as dark as a midnight sky without stars or a moon, emerald green eyes and tail fins, silver spinal crests and the tips of his sensor plates and ears and reddish-brown manta ray markings. He wondered what the colour of his plasma blasts would be, sky blue like Toothless's, emerald green or perhaps even silver and whether or not he could shoot lightning bolts from his mouth or different parts of his body, electrify his scales and generate and manipulate shadows and darkness. Hiccup was amazed at how different being a Night Fury was compared to being a Human. His senses were much, much stronger, especially his eyesight and he wondered how good his night vision would be. He felt faster, stronger, more agile and with more stamina. Hiccup was already wanting to run, breathe fire and fly but he knew he would have learn first, from Toothless's memories that had passed over to him, his new instincts and from what Toothless and the others could teach him.

Toothless was admiring his Human Form, it was amazing how different being a Human was compared to being a Night Fury Dragon. Although he felt embarrassed at being...naked...that did not stop him from staring at and touching his new body. Toothless's Human Form had shaggy, midnight black hair reaching to his shoulders, vivid forest green eerily similar to his Night Fury Dragon eyes, and tan skin with reddish-brown freckles all over his slim, muscular and athletic body. Because he had only ever seen Humans fully clothed, he was quite and surprised to find what his Human Form looked and felt like without clothes. His skin was soft, smooth and supple with subtle muscles. Toothless felt like a pervert and his body heated and reddened from embarrassment when he felt the nipples on his chest and the genitalia between his legs, covered by a patch of short, coarse, curly hair. In his Night Fury Form, Toothless's penis was often sheathed in a genital slit, keeping it hidden from view while the scrotum containing his testicles hung between his rear legs. In his Human Form, his penis was hanging between his legs with his scrotum hidden behind it. He looked up at Hiccup and saw him blushing furiously, trying to politely avert his eyes to preserve Toothless's modesty.
Astrid's Deadly Nadder Dragon Form had vivid sky blue scales, sapphire blue eyes, golden tail stripes and spinal spikes and golden-blonde horns and under-scales. Astrid was amazed at how different being a Deadly Nadder Dragon was compared to being a Human. Every one of her senses, especially her sense of smell, had been highly increased. Astrid felt stronger, more durable and her endurance had also been increased despite Deadly Nadders being considered, dainty, bird-like dragons which they were in a way. Her tail spikes flexed and rattled with every movement of her tail and she wondered how hot and bright her magnesium fire would be and if it would be golden. She wanted to release a blast of fire from her maw and to fly, shoot tail spikes and…eat chicken. Astrid wanted to begin training and leaning right away so she could experience and enjoy all of being a Deadly Nadder Dragoness had to offer.
Stormfly was admiring her Human Form, amazed at how different being a Human was compared to being a Deadly Nadder Dragon. Although she felt embarrassed at being…naked….that did not stop her from staring at and touching her body. Stormfly's Human Form had shiny, yellow hair reaching to her lower back, sky blue eyes and fair skin. Her naked body was slim, muscular and athletic with a round face, a cute, button nose, thin lips, big eyes and well-endowed breasts and hips with a patch of short, curly and coarse yellow hair between her legs. Stormfly looked up at Astrid and saw her blushing furiously, politely trying to avert her eyes to preserve Stormfly's modesty. She remembered a weapon Humans used called bows and arrows and the practice of using them was called archery. Stormfly was tempted to learn how to use a bow and arrow and wear what the Humans called armour, much like the shoulder guards, studded, leather belt and the arm wraps.
Aniu was surprised and happy to find her Summer Dragon Form was much the same as it was before with her golden-brown scales, emerald green eyes and spinal crests, golden horns and under-scales and pure white claws and fangs but yet different and better at the same time. She looked around at Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle and liked what she saw, smiling widely and beaming in joy and approval. She was so happy tears began leaking out of her eyes. Even though she was embarrassed at seeing Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle naked, she was too happy to care and she knew her Soul-Mates and their Soul-Dragons were feeling joyful too. Aniu could not wait to help teach and watch Hiccup and Astrid learn about their Dragon Forms and how to do what Night Furies and Deadly Nadders did. She was especially excited to teach Heatwave about how to be an Elf-Fae. There was so much she had to teach him and he had to learn. Speaking of whom, she looked up to watch him admire his Elf-Fae Form and immediately blushed furiously at his nakedness.
Heatwave was admiring his Elf-Fae Form, amazed at how different being an Elf-Fae was compared to being a Summer Dragon. His nakedness brought him much embarrassment but that did not stop him from staring at and touching his new body, amazed at how sensitive he was in his new Form. He had orange hair, yellow eyes and curved horns, white skin, pointed ears, an angular face, a muscular, athletic body and two large, feathered wings with a sharp, forward-curved white claw on the elbow joint of each wing. His feathers were black, fire red, lava orange, sunshine yellow and white. His genitals were well endowed and he could not help but examine them, despite how embarrassing it was. Heatwave could feel his entire being hum and vibrate and surge with magic which flowed through his entire body and was strongest at his hands, feet, wings and horns. He guessed those places were where Elf-Faes most commonly released their magic. Heatwave looked up and saw Aniu staring and smiling at him, blushing furiously and politely trying to avert her eyes at his nudity.
Nava was not really expecting much to change with his Winter Dragon Form and he was proven correct and wrong at the same time. He still had silver-blonde scales, sapphire blue eyes and claws and silver wing membranes, spinal spikes, horns and tail stripes but at the same time, his connection to his Dragon Form was much stronger. His senses, intelligence, memory, intuition and instincts had increased and when he looked over at Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave and Icicle, he smiled widely in joy and approval and actually had to blink back tears. Nava was too happy to care about feeling embarrassed at Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle's nudity. He could not wait to teach Icicle about how to be an Elf-Fae and even read books and pursue intellectual interests which he knew Aniu's maternal uncle Thomas who had been inflicted with dwarfism when he was born would appreciate. Speaking of whom, Nava focused his attention on Icicle and blushed furiously at her nakedness.
Icicle was busy admiring her Elf-Fae Form, amazed at how different being an Elf-Fae was compared to being a Winter Dragon. Being naked was immensely embarrassing but that did not stop her from staring at and touching her new body, amazed at how sensitive, delicate and fragile she was. Icicle had long, soft, wavy pure white hair that reached her lower back in snowy waves, ice blue eyes and two, curved horns on her head which sensed everything around her and transmitted that information to her brain, pale skin, pointed ears, a round face, a cute button nose, full lips, a slim body and two large, angel-like wings with a sharp, forward-curved, pure white claw on the main joint of each wing. Her feathers were black, deep grey, ice blue, silver and pure white. Her breasts and hips were full and she could not help but examine them despite her embarrassment. Magic hummed and vibrated and surged through her entire being, flowing through her body and gathering at her hands, feet, wings and horns. Icicle looked up and saw Nava smiling at her, blushing furiously at her nakedness and politely trying to avert his eyes.
Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane walked over to them, smiling widely. "Congratulations. Now, it is time for you eight to learn how to lie down on the ground in your new Forms by following our instructions and learning how to do so through your Soul-Bonded Dragon or Rider's memories. You may proceed." They said and Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle beamed in joy. The four dragons-in-humanoid-forms were sitting upright with their legs crossed even though Night Furies, Summer Dragons and Winter Dragons usually lay down on their bellies with their rear legs tucked close to their bodies, their front legs straight out in front of them and their wings and tails wrapped them which was how Hiccup, Aniu and Nava were sitting. Astrid was sitting upright with her two legs straight out in front of her. The four Soul-Mates stretched and flapped their wings, lifting their tails and moving them around using their instincts and Soul-Dragons memories. They even rested their heads on the ground to know if they could do it or not. It took them a few minutes to get used to their new (or improved and enhanced in Aniu and Nava's case) Dragon Forms.
Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle also took a few minutes to get used to their new Humanoid Forms and the way they were sitting, although it was hard for them to stop slouching forward or leaning too far back, particularly for Heatwave and Icicle because of their wings but they grew more comfortable and sat up straighter.
Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane chose to teach Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava how to lie down on their sides first. The four Soul-Mates followed their instructions and their Soul-Dragons' tips and advice. Within only a couple of minutes, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava were lying on their sides with their rear legs twisted around and lying down in a sleeping position was as simple as lowering the rest of their bodies down onto the ground so they were parallel with their legs. They could also lie down in a sleeping position on their bellies too. "At least we know how to take naps and sleep now." Hiccup said, drawing laughs from everyone else. Now that the four Soul-Mates knew how to lie down in their Dragon Forms, Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane turned their attention on Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle who were still sitting upright and cross-legged."All right. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave, Icicle, the first we are going to teach you is how to lie down on your backs and then your sides as we can see you four are growing a bit bored, impatient and tired." They said.
"Do not worry about us. Teaching our Soul-Riders is as important and essential as teaching us." Toothless said, grinning at Hiccup who grinned back. Their teachers smiled and began their lesson by teaching them how to untangle their legs and lean backwards, slowly lowering themselves to the ground and straightening their bodies, resting their hands on their bellies before rolling onto one side and curling up into a humanoid sleeping position. They even learned how to prop themselves up on one elbow. Next, Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane taught Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle how to roll over and the eight of them learned it well, happy and proud of themselves and their progress, as were their teachers and everyone else. Then it was Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava's turns to learn how to stand up on all four (or two, in Astrid's case) legs. First, they had to learn how to sit up from lying down in reverse order before being taught how to stand up.
When Hiccup, Aniu and Nava got to their feet, they struggled to stay upright and not topple to the ground. "I cannot believe Nava and I have to learn how to do this stuff in our Dragon Forms again!" Aniu exclaimed. "That is quite all right, child. Your Dragon Form has been changed, strengthened and enhanced ever since you and Heatwave Soul-Bonded." Elenia said. "We do not want to feel left out, do you, Aniu?" Nava asked. "Indeed, we do not, Nava." Aniu replied. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle had even more of a struggle standing up and staying upright. Fortunately, out of the goodness of their hearts, Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane walked over, let them grab hold of their fur or feathers and lean against them until they grew strong and balanced enough to stay upright for a few minutes and then stay standing up by themselves, slowly moving away and ready to lunge forward and catch them if they fell. The four Dragons-in-Humanoid Forms shivered from the chilly, Autumn breeze blowing through their hair and feathers and over their skin. "By Draco, it is cold." Stormfly complained, glancing enviously at Heatwave and Icicle's feathered wings which were shielding them from the cold.
Now that the eight of them knew how to stand, it was time to teach Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava how to lie down and Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle how to sit down again. As usual, the Soul-Mates and their Soul-Dragons were taught separately from each other by their teachers who trained one group first then the next group second, the first group third and so on and so forth. For them, what they were learning was only a matter of lowering themselves down onto the ground and sitting or lying down in the correct comfortable position. After that, Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane taught Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava how to stretch and improve their flexibility in different poses. Aniu was much better at that than her Soul-Mates, owing credit to her incredible agility, flexibility and balance.
When their teachers had tested their limits and made them do around a dozen different stretches, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle were finally able to put on the clothes Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava had brought for them which brought many sighs of relief when Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane announced it. The Griffin, Phoenix, Alicorn and Hippogriff picked up the bundles and brought them over the four Dragons-in-Humanoid Forms, putting them down on the ground in front of them.
"Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu, Nava, you four must help your Soul-Dragons as we do not know how to put on clothes or in which they go. Transmit your memories to your Soul-Dragons how to do it and which item to put on first." They said as Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle picked up the clothing and examined them ponderously. Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava nodded and Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle looked at them, awaiting instructions and wondering what each item of clothing was called. Together, their Soul-Riders told them what each item of clothing was called, which order they went in and how to put them on. They began the order with the underpants, breast bindings (for Stormfly and Icicle), leggings (for Stormfly and Icicle), trousers (for Toothless and Heatwave), tunics (for Toothless, Heatwave and Icicle), shirt and skirt(for Stormfly), socks, boots, vests (for Toothless, Heatwave and Icicle), belts, arm wrappings and shoulder guards(for Stormfly).
With Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava's help, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle slowly put on each item of clothing where and how it was too be put on in order. Soon, they were fully dressed and adapting to the sensation of wearing clothing. As the hours passed, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava learned how to walk and run in their Dragon Forms as Toothless, Styormfly, Heatwave and Icicle learned how to stretch, walk and run. Out of everything else they had learned how to do that day, walking and running took the longest but before night fell, the eight of them were walking and running around with the occasional trip and slip. Not surprisingly, Hiccup and Toothless were the fastest runners, both of them appearing as blurs even to the trained eyes. That meant they could walk over and help their Soul-Rider or Soul-Dragon. The sky was darkening when Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane announced it was time for Hiccup to learn how to retract and detract his teeth, Aniu to heat her scales and for Astrid and Nava to learn how to shoot their tail spikes, Nava also had to learn how to cool his scales. They started with Hiccup first and he sat down in front of Toothless.
"All right, Hiccup. Learning to retract and detract your teeth is done by flexing muscles in your jaws. I will show you how to do it through my memories but I have to warn you, to retracting and detracting their teeth often accidently bite their own tongues and it hurts, trust me, it does. So, you will have to keep your tongue away from your teeth if you do not want that happening. Shall we begin?" Toothless told him. "Yes, we shall, bud." Hiccup grinned and so Toothless transmitted memories of him retracting and detracting his own teeth to instruct and show Hiccup how to do it. It took several tries but Hiccup was a quick learner and succeeded in retracting, shuddering at the unfamiliar feeling of his teeth retracting into his gums. "Good job, Hiccup, now try detracting them and remember, hold your teeth away from your teeth." Toothless said and so Hiccup flexed his jaw muscles until his teeth shot out of his gums, narrowly missing his tongue. "Well done, Hiccup. Congratulations! Now you can retract and detract your teeth." Toothless crowed and Hiccup beamed in triumph.
Then it was Aniu's turn to learn how to heat her scales from Heatwave. "All right, Aniu, to heat your scales, you have to focus on heating them up using your inner fire." Aniu nodded and focused, taking deep breaths. Within seconds, Aniu felt her scales heat up, growing hotter and hotter until they started to steam in the cool air. "Now focus on cooling them down using the same method." Heatwave said. Aniu nodded and focused on cooling her scales until they were at their normal temperature. After that was Nava's turn to learn how to cool his scales until they were freezing cold from Icicle. "All right, Nava, cooling your scales is basically the same way as a Summer Dragon heating up their scales but the opposite of course. To do this, you have to focus on cooling them down using your inner ice." Icicle told him. Nava nodded and focused. Within seconds, his scales had cooled until they were nearly colder than ice. Already knowing what Icicle wanted him to do next, Nava focused again and returning his scales to their normal temperature. "Well done. I am proud of you." Icicle smiled and Nava beamed. He already knew Icicle was proud of him but hearing her say it made him happy.
Astrid's turn to learn how to shoot her tail spikes from Stormfly came next. Hiccup, Toothless, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle cleared a space for her and Stormfly led Astrid over to a rock wall. "All right, Astrid. Shooting tail spikes is as simple as erecting them and flicking your tail at your target. Like this." Stormfly provided Astrid with a demonstration, erecting her tail spikes, flicking her tail and shooting several tail spikes at a broad tree. Astrid nodded and focused on the rock wall in front of her. Her tail spikes erected easily and she raised her tail, using Stormfly's memories and her instincts as guidance. She flicked her tail and several spikes shot from it to the wall, sinking deep and marking her aim. "Well done, Astrid. You will be a brilliant tail-spike shooter in no time!" Stormfly crowed and Astrid beamed in triumph and joy. For their next lesson, their teachers led the eight of them over to the pond and told Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle to grab wooden cups Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava used for drinking in their Humanoid Forms.
"We are sure all of you are thirsty." Elenia said and Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle nodded, they were indeed feeling quite thirsty. "So, we are going to teach you eight how to drink water from this pond in your respective Forms." Lunastar said. "Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava, you four will drink straight from the pond with nothing but your mouths." Solarfira said. "Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle, you four will fill those cups by dipping them into the water, raising them to your lips and drinking from them. Make sure to tip them on an angle into your mouths, though." Softmane said and the eight students nodded in acceptance of their teachers instructions. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle went first, approaching the pond and kneeling down with their cups in hand. Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava sent them memories of how they did it to guide them.
Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle dipped their cups on an angle into the water and waited for them to fill up before lifting them to their lips, tilting them on an angle and letting a thin trickle of water spill into their slightly open mouths and down their throats. They drunk until they were fully sated, refilling their cups if they had to. It was not long before they had to urinate and it was with much embarrassment that they had to tell them...and ask how to do it so Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava had to tell them how to undo their belts, lift up their tunics and vests, unlace their trousers, pull them down along with their underwear, squat and urinate without getting urine on themselves. Within minutes, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle had emptied their bladders and Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava told them how to pull their underwear and trousers up, lace them, pull down their tunics and vests and put their belts back on. "Well, at least we know how to pee and empty our bladders in our Humanoid Forms now." Toothless quipped.
Feeling quite thirsty themselves, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava approached the pond and awaited instructions from Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar, Softmane and their Soul-Dragons on how to crouch down and drink. It took a couple of minutes but soon Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava were drinking their fill and when they were done, they had to urinate as well so Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle taught them how to squat down and urinate in their Dragon Forms. Thanks to their tutelage, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava's bladders were soon emptied, although they were quite embarrassed to urinate in front of each other. Over in the camp around the campfire, the others had gathered an assortment of food and were preparing it for dinner. Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle's stomachs rumbled when they smelt and saw the delicious food. All of the learning and lessons had made them hungry and they were feeling urges to eat food that their Forms wanted to eat. That meant Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava wanted to eat raw fish and meat and Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle wanted to eat cooked fish, meat and vegetables.
Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane noticed their hunger and led them over to the camp where the food was ready for consumption. "You know, I feel pretty weird and grossed out by eating raw food even though I am in my Dragon Form." Astrid said. "I can say the same about eating cooked food in my Human Form, Astrid." Stormfly replied. "Do not worry, Stormfly. The food will still taste good just without the flavour, blood and bones you are used too." Astrid told her. "If you say so. Do not worry, Astrid. The food will still taste good even with the blood, bones and flavours." Stormfly said. "First, we are going to teach Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle how to cook their food with fire, spits and utensils just like how Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava cook their food in their Humanoid Forms." Solarfira announced. When she beckoned them over, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle walked over to her, sat down and listened as she told them what each utensil was and what it was used for.
Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava helped by transmitting them memories as they had been doing all afternoon. Soon, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle were ready to learn how to cook and so they began, guided by the memories of their Soul-Riders. Although there were a few burns, mishaps and mistakes, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle learned how to cook food that was edible and even looked good. All eight Soul-Bonded Dragons and Riders were ravenous, as were everyone else. Nightus, Onyx and Violet were complaining and their rumbling stomachs could be heard by everyone. Raw fish and meat had already prepared for Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava and they had to admit, the food looked and smelt delicious. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle finished cooking and cleaning and waited for the signal that would allow them to begin eating. "You may begin." Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane said and everyone dug into their food, eating hungrily.
Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu, Nava and Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave, Icicle stared at their food, glanced at what their Soul-Bond was eating and back at their own food. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle cut a bit of meat off their plates with their knives and forks, just the way their Soul-Riders had taught them through their memories, put it in their minds and chewed before swallowing. Their eyes widened and they hungrily repeated, cutting their food and eating until they had eaten their fill and their plates were empty. At the same time, Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava bit off chunks of meat and fish, chewed and swallowed. Their eyes widened and they hungrily devoured their food until it was all gone. Before long, their meals were finished and everyone's hunger was sated. "That was delicious!" Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle exclaimed about what they had eaten. "At least we know how to eat in our Dragon Forms now!" Hiccup added. "Do not forget cook in our Humanoid Forms!" Toothless reminded him.
"There is just one problem." Heatwave said and everyone looked at him. "I have to...poo." He told them meekly. "So do I." Aniu replied. "So do we." Hiccup, Toothless, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle replied. In the end, Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle had to pull down their trousers again, squat and defecate after a number of tries. They told Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava that Dragons defecated while flying or squatting as well and since none of them could fly yet, they had to do it by squatting and pushing piles of dragon poo out of their sphincters. At last, their bowels and bladders were empty. "So what are we going to learn now?" Toothless asked and everyone's eyes, including his, widened in amazement when they realized he had spoken words through his mouth rather than his mind. "Toothless, you just spoke Humanoid Tongue." Stormfly said and her eyes widened when she realized she had just done the exact same thing as him. "I thought we had to learn how to." Heatwave said. "But it appears we do not have to since we can already speak it." Icicle added.
"Well, that is another thing we can tick off the list." Nava quipped and Hiccup, Astrid and Aniu agreed. "I am going to repeat my earlier question and ask so what are we going to learn now?" Toothless said but Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu,Heatwave, Nava and Icicle yawned. "I think we have done enough for today. I am tired." Astrid said. "I am too, Astrid. It is getting late." Stormfly said, noticing Darkfang, Lilith, Amaya, Nightus, Ebony, Crowden, Raven, Aleron, Onyx, Spike, Magnus, Sera, Bolt, Electra, Spark, Violet, Sorina, Sprinter, Stryker, Akira, Caruso, Edme, Zena and Artemis were already asleep or nearly asleep. "Very well, each of you have done very good today. We are all proud of you and lessons will continue tomorrow. Get some sleep and goodnight." Elenia, Solarfira, Lunastar and Softmane said. Hiccup, Astrid, Aniu and Nava nodded gratefully, as did their Soul-Dragons-in-their-Humanoid-Forms and curled up together on the ground in their Dragon Forms. Toothless, Stormfly, Heatwave and Icicle cuddled together beside them in their Humanoid Forms. Exhausted from a long day of training and learning, they fell into a deep sleep and did not wake up until morning.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! So much has happened and I do hope this chapter makes a good Christmas and New Years gift. My elder sister has given birth to two BEAUTIFUL, ADORABLE TWINS, a boy named Zavier and a girl named Summer and I love them so much. They were born on the 15th of December and I could go on and on about them but I will not even though they have the cutest chubby cheeks! MY father and I went to see Star Wars: the Last Jedi and it was amazing, though not as good as the Force Awakens! I will not reveal any spoilers for those who have seen it. Next chapter will Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stormfly, Aniu, Heatwave, Nava and Icicle continuing their training and meeting a band of people from a galaxy far, far away who share a powerful connection with them and are essential to the plotline of the Chronicles of the Dragoniters!
