There was a hairline fracture on the lip of her tea cup, a small imperfection which had managed to escape the keen, dark eyes of her hostess. Spices color the air with their scent, a pie is sitting between them fresh baked and making her stomach turn from the sickly sweet smell of berries–raspberries she thinks but can't concentrate enough on it to really tell. Taking another sip of the ginger tea she had been offered Bulma hopes it will settle her rolling stomach.
"And you are sure it's not Yamacha's?"
Blue eyes narrow at the implication but she tries not to take offense, after all she had been rather surprised when Goku had come to Kame Island with a child all those years ago. Difference was they had been married then and despite the mind boggling concept of Goku having sex-or being responsible for the upbringing of a child-it had made sense.
"Yamach and I have been over for nearly a year now–I'm sure."
Finger nail hitting again the rim of her cup in a restless manner she considers why she's here. The dark haired woman had always been a friend more out of acquaintanceship with Goku then actual friendly sentiment between them but she had questions only Son Chi Chi could answer.
"My God, Vegeta–"
The home is empty besides the two of them and his name seems to echo in the silence, she doesn't comment right away-frankly she can't find the right words to respond and doubts it will make a difference with Chi Chi. When she does speak apprehension is clear in her tone.
"I have questions..."
"Alright." Squaring her shoulder's the dark haired woman gives the heiress her full attention.
"Was it normal? I mean, time wise."
"My water broke at six months, Gohan was delivered perfectly healthy. Gave a heart attack though, all the books claimed he was too early."
Six months, okay so she had another five to prepare everything.
"Any issues?"
It was awkward to speak of such a sensitive subject with such an infamously private woman, more awkward still considering the circumstances. Then again, her life had never been smooth sailing.
"It'll be strong, once it starts moving it will take a toll on your body. I cracked a rib in the last month."
"Not surprising I'll jus–"
"Bulma you'll be okay, I promise" A warm calloused hand settles over her shaking, pale ones, "If you need me, I'm here. It'll be nice to feel needed for once."
Shuttering sobs rack her body leaving her breathless, hot tears drip on their joined hands but Chi Chi's grip remains-strong and warm with the hint of spices coming off her skin.
