Theme Song

It is time for the home stretch (Gray shows her badge case with eight badges)
For it is the final catch (Magna appears, smiles, and fades, which is repeated by Fidens, Leviculus, Decorus, Durus, and Fortis)
Your goal's right there, it is your fate (Owen and Red stare down at the championship battle of the Indigo League)
Go ahead and become great! (Gray throws a Pokeball forwards and it opens)
No way! (2x) We won't back down! (Durus lunges at the camera and slashes it)
We will! (2x) Win that crown (Montage of Gray defeating Trentavious, Savannah, and Marcus before she looks across a battlefield and sees Owen)
This is it, the final quest (Gray looks off into the sunset with Chase, Tara, and their Pokemon)
You must do your very best... Pokemon!

Hey, all! It's time for another installment of PKA:ANG! which will be focusing on the arrival of a new team member, who will be a strange, last minute addition. Last chapter, Gray earned her eighth badge in a one versus one duel. For her accomplishment, Gray's mother decided to give Gray a present, and she'll get to see what it is. Now let's get going!

ShadowDragon9000: Lol, I've heard Youtubers say that, too. And I'm probably going to have all of the chapters posted by Thursday, or I'll unleash them in waves (like 5 in one day or something). Fortis blocking Horn Drill defies all logic, but hey, screw it! And I can't wait for the League, which is why you'll be getting another chapter posted today even after this one!

"Oh man, this is so cool! A present the week before the Indigo League... who would've thought?" Gray asked herself as she followed her mother into the Adoption Center with Billy by her side. "Can you at least give me a hint of what it is?" Gray inquired, only to be met by silence.

The teen frowned in response and watched as her mother disappeared into her office, leaving the siblings and Durus in the main room.

"Maybe it's a dress?" Durus guessed, not knowing what Mrs. Plain had in store for her daughter.

"Or a car!" Billy shouted, not realizing how stupid his guess was.

Durus, meanwhile, shook her head in disgust and Gray laughed at her starter's response. The laughter stopped, however, when Gray's mother walked back into the room while holding a crate with tiny holes on the top and sides.

"Gray, this is the present I've been meaning to give to you the past month," the older woman announced while placing the crate on the ground.

After that, she opened a door that was facing her, and Gray waited anxiously. Slowly, a purple claw appeared from the crate, and a strange, purple Pokemon walked out. It looked like a scorpion with wings, and it had two sharp fangs sticking out of its mouth. In-between the fangs was the Pokemon's tongue, and it also had two pointy spikes on its head. A short tail that looked like a stinger stuck out of the Pokemon's backside, and it smiled at Gray.

"Gligar, the FlyScorpion Pokémon. It clamps on to its chosen prey then jabs the stinger on its tail into the prey while it's stunned with surprise."

"Well that's a pretty disturbing Pokedex entry," Durus spat while glaring at the dumb looking Pokemon.

Gligar turned and walked over to Durus and extended its claw, but the normal type turned away from him in disgust, making Gligar hang its head dejectedly. Gray quickly came to her new Pokemon's defense and knelt down next to Gligar with a smile, cheering the winged Pokemon up immediately.

"Hi, Gligar! My name's Gray, and I'm your trainer. It's nice to meet you!"

Gligar beamed and leaped forwards, latching onto Gray's head, which made the girl laugh. Durus, meanwhile, scowled and walked over to Billy, rubbing her body against the boy's legs. Gray's younger brother bent down and began petting Durus, and she started purring obnoxiously in an attempt to grab Gray's attention, but she failed.

"Why don't you scan it with your Pokedex again and check out all of its info?" Billy inquired, making Gray nod before she scanned Gligar with her Pokedex once again.

"Gligar, male, level 10, Poison Sting, Harden, Sand Attack, X-Scissor," the Pokedex announced aloud.

Gray slowly took Gligar off her head and placed the creature on her lap. She then patted her newest Pokemon on the head, which made Gligar smile and stick his tongue out as if he were a dog, and Gray laughed at the reaction.

"You're a little too low leveled to compete in the Indigo League," the girl said before looking up at her mom and shooting her a look, which made the woman sweat drop. "But X-Scissor at such a low level is really impressive. I bet you're a strong little guy, aren't you, Gligar?" Gray asked rhetorically.

Gligar cheered in response and hugged his new trainer, making Durus hiss lowly. She stopped, however, when Gray grabbed five other Pokeballs off her belt and tossed them in the air. Each of the devices opened and revealed Gray's other Pokemon, who all yawned in unison.

"What's going on?" Magna asked in confusion as she looked around the inside of the Adoption Center. "Are you getting rid of all of us? I knew it! I told you, Fidens!"

"Calm down, Magna. No one's being put up for adoption," Gray informed the bell, refusing to talk about the suspicion of being released. "I wanted you all to meet the newest member of the team, Gligar!" Gray exclaimed as she clipped a translator around the flying type's neck.

"Huh. It's a little late to add new members to the team, don't you think?" Leviculus inquired as he stepped forwards. "Eh, who cares. Nice to meet you, Gligar. My name is Leviculus."

Gligar smiled at the water type stupidly and nodded before turning to Fidens and Magna as the former walked forwards with Magna resting on his head.

"I'm Fidens,"

"And I'm Magna. It's great to meet you!"

While Gligar beamed at the couple, Durus walked over angrily and sat next to Decorus, who had yet to move. Before the two could talk, Fortis grabbed Decorus and walked over to Gligar happily and bent down to smile at the smaller Pokemon.

"Hi, Gligar. The name's Fortis, and this is Decorus. We're really glad to have you on the team, and I can't wait to get to know you!"

"Thanks! I bet you're really strong, all of you! Could you teach me how to be strong, too?" the young Pokemon asked cutely, making everyone - except Durus, who was fuming - laugh.

"Aw, he's so cute!" Decorus squealed while looking at Fortis, who nodded in agreement. "We'll all help you become as strong as you want, Gligar. When do you want to start practicing?"

"Right now!"

With that, Gligar latched onto Fortis' back and laughed along with the others as they bolted out of the building and began to train outside on the streets, leaving Durus alone with Gray and her family.

"Thanks so much for Gligar, Mom, but I'm confused. Why'd you give him to me?" the sixteen year old asked her mother, who walked over to one of the cages holding a Pancham and gave it food.

"I actually rescued Gligar from a different Adoption Center, where they were going to put him to sleep. I figured since you were a trainer, he'd be a great fit with you, especially because of how accepting your Pokemon are," Gray's mother answered bluntly.

The girl frowned at the idea of the bubbly Pokemon being killed, and she looked over at Durus, who looked enraged.

"Are you okay, Durus?"

"Everything's perfect! Don't worry about me!" the feline shouted before running out the door.

"I feel like she's not okay," Billy muttered.

Gray rolled her eyes at her brother's inability to pick up on Durus' emotions, and she ran after her first Pokemon worriedly.

"Durus, wait up!" Gray shouted after exiting the Adoption Center.

The girl looked in both directions before seeing Durus bounding down the street, and she sprinted after her Pokemon. After running a few blocks, Gray stopped at a complex filled with battlefields, where all seven of her Pokemon were, surprisingly. Gray quickly walked over to the group and smiled at Gligar as he flew alongside Fortis.

"Gray, look! I'm flying!" Gligar exclaimed before crashing into a pole and smacking against the ground.

Gray quickly ran over to her Pokemon's side along with the rest of her team, excluding Durus, and she helped Gligar back onto his feet.

"I'm okay!"

Everyone laughed at Gligar's announcement, and the flying type smiled stupidly.

"Are you gonna give Gligar a nickname, Gray?" Magna inquired as she hopped onto her trainer's head with a bright smile. "I think he deserves one, even though he won't be battling at the Indigo League."

"You're right, Magna. Let me just look for one," Gray said while taking her Pokedex out of her pocket and looking up a list of latin words.

After looking aimlessly, the girl's eyes lit up and she beamed at her newest Pokemon.

"How does Comis sound, Gligar? It means kind, courteous, or friendly!"

The ground and flying type grinned at the name and nodded violently, falling on his face as he did so.

"That's great!" the winged scorpion exclaimed, making Gray beam while the rest of the Pokemon, excluding Durus, cheered. "Come on, Fortis! Let's fly again!"

Gray laughed as the two Pokemon began flying through the air, and even Fidens began flying, though it wasn't as elegant as the flight of his teammates. Comis laughed at Fidens as he awkwardly flew, but he crashed into another pole and fell to the ground, making everyone else laugh as he rolled around on the ground stupidly. Durus, meanwhile, continued to glare at the ground type, but she stopped when Gray walked over.

"Durus, what's the matter?"

The Persian looked over at her trainer before turning her head away defiantly, making Gray take a breath in frustration.

"You're not jealous of him, are you, Durus?" Gray inquired, making her starter freeze up.

The reaction alone answered Gray's question, and she sighed as she sat down next to Durus.

"You're going to replace us with him if you go to a new region, right?" Durus asked, catching Gray off guard.

The brunette looked away from her Pokemon and pondered the question before shrugging, not knowing what to say.

"I'm not sure. I don't think we're going to lose at the Indigo League, so I haven't even thought about that. Even if we did, I'm not sure I'd go to a different region. Comis is just a gift my mom gave me because he was going to be put down if he wasn't adopted by anyone."

Durus nodded at the response, satisfied with Gray's answer.

"Besides, there's no way I'd be able to replace any of you."

Durus turned and smiled at Gray before hugging her, and they broke away only to watch Decorus glide Comis through the air with Psychic.

"Thanks for talking to me, Gray. It really means a lot," Durus said to her trainer before getting up and walking over to her teammates, leaving Gray by herself with a smile.

Watching all of her Pokemon play kept her mind off the possibility of traveling to a different region. What Durus had asked was definitely a possibility, but Gray didn't want to consider it.

Well, it turns out the present Gray's mom had was a happy-go-lucky Gligar, who was given the nickname Comis. Next chapter will be the conclusion of the arc, and then it'll be time to move on to the Indigo League, which will NOT have all of the titles revealed! Till next time, peace out.

1) Thoughts on Comis?

Next Chapter "Pre-League Festivities": The Indigo League is approaching and Gray is happy to find out about a party! Will the party be able to clam her jitters?
