Moments

He wondered sometimes, if the others could remember things the way he could. The moment seemed so clear in his own mind, almost as if he'd dreamed it, but the detail convinced him it was real. The world changed, from a silent blur of browns and greens, which felt like safety, to tumbling, crashing, falling, bluish-greys and glowing green, and the sudden onset of noise, terrifying and new.

The tumult of sounds had settled themselves into the peeping, confused cries of newly-found voices, and the soothing growl of grey-brown softness and glittering black eyes, which, after a moment's hesitation, he had decided also meant safety. The darkness that enveloped them all hid the growing change until morning, when the grey-brown softness took shape, and he saw, for the first time, the face of his father.

After that, the moments blended together into days and years, but the first night, huddling together with the others, feeling the change without understanding it yet, the warmth of his father's body as they curled next to him in the night, they were clear in his mind. It was in those first moments, before they knew what they would become, that his family was formed.

A/N: I feel as if I'm failing with some of these, not conveying the feeling of a specific character strongly enough. Am I the only one who thinks Casey grinds on Don's nerves the most?

Ally was from Donny's pov.

Today's piece refers to events related by Splinter to April, when he explains their origin story in Attack of the Mousers.

For those who don't know- actual turtles are deaf. They sense vibration but do not perceive sound the way we do. The Turtles wouldn't have gained the ability to hear until they mutated.
