The Bet
Chapter 19
Silver was beginning to worry. It's been an hour already and they still haven't came out. How long did it take to beat a little group of thugs? They've beaten Eggman countless times in less than twenty minutes- depending on the backup they had. And just a little while ago, he saw three more people go into the building. But, back to the problem at hand; should he go in or stay? Sitting alone in Shadow's car in the dark by a warehouse that contains gangsters wasn't that comforting…
And neither was getting killed in there… Silver sunk in his seat, hoping he'd be more hidden this way. Looking at the time, he saw just how long they've been in there. It was now one-thirty in the morning. The silver hedgehog then realized how sleepy he was…lying across the back seat, he figured a few minutes of rest would be okay. If they were in there this long, how much longer could it be?

"Well, I can't say I'll miss you when you're gone." Scourge said sarcastically.
No one moved, no one talked. Scourge had a smirk on his face, thinking about the situation at hand. Sure, they were out numbered (at the moment), but he had a few dirty tricks up his sleeve, and the one to help put it in motion was already here… Shadow wasn't necessarily free, one hand still tied to the chair, but he didn't underestimate that the ebony hedgehog could be resourceful; he was actually standing ready with the chair in hand, ready to use it. Tails was still tied down, but he wasn't much of a threat. He figured he could make this work to his advantage.
"You just gonna stand there and look stupid?" Knuckles retorted eventually. One of the guys at Scourge's side moved to attack him, but the lime green hedgehog held him back.
"Now, now, wouldn't want to upset the boss, would you?" he said with a tsk. The fox next to him looked at him confused, but backed away reluctantly, eyeing the echidna instead.
"You keep talking about this boss of yours, yet he's too good to show his face?" Shadow questioned.
"Why, Shadow…you've been looking at it from day one…" Scourge chuckled darkly. Then it hit Sonic like a ton of bricks, the light outside the warehouse was always turned on whenever Scourge left; Scourge was always there whenever something happened to his friends; Scourge was always wherever he was…
"You mean to tell me, you've been behind the whole thing?!" Sonic exclaimed loudly. The lime green smirked at his counterpart.
"Yep! And I'm not done yet!" he exclaimed. They heard a yelp and somehow, two guys had managed to come in the room unnoticed and grab Amy. Rouge, being the closest, went to help, but Scourge's taunting voice stopped her, "I wouldn't if I were you. You see, there's only one thing in this room I want and it's her, but if I can't, then I'll make sure no one can." Scourge sneered.
"And what are you going to do to stop me?" Rouge threw back. The lime green hedgehog produced a remote with a single button. He had his finger hovering over it, ready to push it.
"In the walls are top of the line bombs, just waiting to explode with the push of this button. We'll all be dead in the matter of seconds. But all of this can be avoided if you give Amy to me." the evil hedgehog stated.
"Isn't there something else you want?" Sonic offered. He didn't want to risk Amy's life like that, but by the looks of it, Scourge wasn't playing around. Then again, he didn't know what else was equal interest than the girl he desired…
"Unless you can figure out a way to bring Rosy back, you can forget it." Scourge stated scornfully. The pink hedgehog stopped struggling and looked up confused.
"Rosy…?"
"Yeah, what about her?"
"You said you wanted Rosy back. What happened to her?" Tails asked. The lime green hedgehog looked away and sighed. He ordered for the other men to let Amy go and leave. They dropped Amy, having her land on her bottom, and went away.
"Well, you could've told them to do it nicely…" she mumbled.
"Whatever. I'll only tell you if you can find a way to get her back." Scourge said, crossing his arms.
"I can try…" Tails offered. The other hedgehog rolled his eyes, before clearing his throat.
"Alright, fine. You can guess this already, but after I escaped the Seventh Dimension, where Sonic ever so kindly left me, I went back to Moebius. Turns out some asshole took over my throne and called himself king. He pretty much had everyone wrapped around his finger. I found Rosy and Fiona there in the castle, figured I could be the nice guy for once and help them get away. So, I used a Warp Ring to try and get us here, but I lost Rosy on the way…and I just want her back…" Scourge explained.
"Awww…" Amy said. He glared at her.
"Shut up…!" he snapped.
"If that was it, why not come to us in the first place?" Sonic asked. The green hedgehog shrugged nonchalantly, looking at the floor. Typical…
"Well, he's not exactly known to do things the easy way." Knuckles stated. Scourge nodded, agreeing.
"Okay, if I find a way to get Rosy back, you'll leave us alone?" Tails pondered. The hedgehog nodded once again, "Alright…" And for once, the green hedgehog actually smiled.
When Shadow opened the car door, Silver jolted awake. It didn't surprise the ebony hedgehog one bit that he'd do that. Tails and Knuckles slid in the back seat, and the silver hedgehog noticed Amy getting in the front.
"Hey, I thought you were at Rouge's?" he called out. Then, said bat came and squeezed between Knuckles and Tails.
"We were, until Sonic came and got us." she explained.
"Wait a minute, what happened?!" Silver exclaimed.
"Turns out Scourge was behind the whole thing 'cause he misses his sweet little Rosy. He wanted Amy…well, I guess because that's her anti and that's as close to Rosy as he's gonna get." Rouge stated.
"So…am I calling the police?"
"No, Silver. The other guys in the group are just a bunch no good bastards trying to get thrown in jail over nothing." Tails said.
"Oh…" A silence set in as the car began to move, but of course, Silver had to break it, "So is Scourge good now?"
"Possibly…"
"He'll probably try something if we can't get Rosy." Amy concluded.

The next day, Shadow, Sonic, Amy, and Scourge all stood in Tails' workshop as the teenage boy genius tried to find a way to get Scourge back to Rosy or vice versa. Using the Warp Ring the lime green hedgehog used to escape Moebius, he ran some tests on how it worked and if he could reverse the effects of it.
"Are you sure this little pipsqueak can do anything with that?" Scourge questioned. The fox stopped what he was doing and glared at the hedgehog. He had the nerve to cause all this trouble and ask for his help, yet he sat there whining let a little baby…?
"Just shut up, Scourge." Sonic said. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Tails went back to what he was doing, mumbling things under his breath. Amy sat back bored out of her mind, leaning on Shadow in the process. The ebony hedgehog appeared to not mind it, but on the inside, he was wishing he had the guts to just throw her to the floor.
"How much longer do you think it'd be?" Amy asked.
"I don't know, I'm not really familiar with anything from Moebius and it may not even work. Maybe Scourge can try using it again or-" he stopped when the ring started to float and become much wider, about the size of a person. Soon enough, the inside held an image, "Or it could do that…" Tails concluded.
"What is that?" Sonic asked, wondering what it'd do.
"That…is a portal." The image then focused on a pink hedgehog with short pink quills and spiky bangs dressed in a bathing suit playing in a pond.
"Rosy…" Scourge said, he looked like he was about to cry.
"Well, go on. We'll keep the portal open from this side." Tails encouraged. The green hedgehog was hesitate at first but eventually stepped through the ring.
Coming out, Scourge looked around at the dense forest surrounding him. The unknown place looked pure and clean, almost like it was some sort of utopia. Maybe it was, but he knew why he here. In front of him, Rosy threw water around, but she didn't exactly look happy while doing it. Now that he was standing in front of her, he noticed a huge mallet lying on the grass near the bank and some other girl was underneath the pink hedgehog. It was looked like she was…drowning her…
"Rosy?" Scourge called out. She stopped and looked around when she heard her name. Her eyes soon found his and she immediately dropped the other female.
"Scourge!" Rosy ran towards him and embraced him, not caring that she was soaking wet, "H-How did you? Where did you?" she started stuttering, but she stopped.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"Are you sure you're the real Scourge? Not Sonic painted green?" she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"If I were Sonic, would I be holding you?" he answered a question with a question, classic move. Nodding in understanding, she hugged him tighter.
"Oh, Scourgey! I missed you so much! I thought you'd never come back."
"Well, I actually wasn't planning on it, to be honest…" he admitted. Rosy looked at him with disbelief.
"You…you weren't…?"
"No, I didn't think I would see you again, either, so I thought getting Amy would help filled the void, but seeing you now makes me realize that it wouldn't have." Scourge said sincerely.
"So, how did you-"
"Come with me and find out." he interrupted her. She didn't hesitate, but realized she forgot her mallet. Stopping she ran back and grabbed it, hit the girl in the pond with it and ran back to him. He didn't question it; he had her back now. They went back through the portal to Mobius.

Now, back in Tails workshop, Rosy jumped in Scourge arms when she saw the others waiting for them. It was obvious she was waiting for them to attack the both of them, which they didn't.
"Why are they here?!" she shrieked.
"Relax, babe. They helped me get to you." Scourge explained. Sonic gave a small smile and waved. Rosy relaxed a little, but stayed alert. The ring behind them went back to its regular size soon after.
"Why?" she asked.
"Uh…we kind of made a deal…"
"Yeah, a deal's a deal. We got Rosy for you, now you leave Amy alone." Sonic spoke. The green hedgehog rolled his eyes, but Rosy didn't look too happy about it.
"Why were you going after her?"
"I was just-"
"Am I not good enough?"
"Rosy, wait-"
"ANSWER ME!" Rosy took out her mallet again and held it over her head, ready to strike. Scourge backed away.
"Well, she's still insane…" Amy commented.
"Oh, shut up pinkie." Rosy snapped. Amy glared at her.
"You're pink, too." Amy retorted. Rosy gave her a warning glare, and received one in return. Turning back to Scourge, she lowered her mallet and stared at the green hedgehog.
"So, answer my question. Am I not good enough anymore?"
"I never said you weren't. I just didn't I'd see you again, so-"
"Shut up and take me home." Rosy interrupted.
"And she's rude…" Amy muttered. Rosy almost lunged at her until Scourge grabbed her and tossed her over his shoulder.
"I think we need to get outta here before you kill somebody." And with that, he sped out with Rosy in tow. Sonic looked back at Amy with a disappointed look.
"Really?"
"She started it."
"No, you started it." Shadow added. Amy stuck her tongue out at the ebony hedgehog, before crossing her arms, pouting.
"He didn't even say thank you…!" she pointed out, changing the subject.
"Ah, well, at least you're safe now, right?" Sonic stated. Shadow then glared at the blue hedgehog, "What did I do now?" he asked, backing away.
"I still haven't kicked your ass for getting her in this mess…" Shadow stated, his blood red eyes darkened. Sonic gulped, knowing he was in for it now.
"B-But Shadow, she wasn't hurt! I eventually made things right, so that evens things out…right?" The ebony hedgehog was still advancing towards him.
"I think I have to side with Shadow on this. You do kind of deserve it…" Tails said, looking away.
"Not helping!" he exclaimed glaring at the fox. He shrugged and walked away. Amy was looking at him, and he pleaded to her thinking she'd at least save him, "What about you, Amy? Y-You think Shadow beat me up, right?"
"Well, you did save us…" she started, Sonic nodded frantically, and Shadow stopped for a moment, "But, I never got my eight hours of sleep last night so…I don't care what happens to ya." Amy shrugged. Sonic whimpered. Looking around, he suddenly took off with Shadow on his tail.
"Shadow, don't kill me!"
…
"Ahhh!"
