As Kristophe and Beca scurry out of the shop, Chloe turns the young man and gives him a warning glare.
"Daniel…don't you dare ever say that again. Just because we hooked up does NOT mean we are dating! People do stupid things when alcohol is involved. Unfortunately for me I'm suffering the consequences because you've decided to cling to me like a pesky little tick!"
The look of hurt across Daniel's face faded quickly as he replaced it with a sly grin
"You don't mean that babe…I know you like to play hard to get sometimes, but it's well worth the fight."
He leaned over to try and peck her cheek but Chloe placed her hand in front to block his face. Daniel sighed and stood up from the booth.
"I've got to go…but I'll text you later babe."
Chloe rolled her eyes and looked at the empty seats across from her
"NOT your babe, Daniel"
"Whatever you say..babe."
As Daniel left Chloe looked down towards her coffee and sighed
"There's only one person who I'd want to be their babe…"
Beca returned to her dorm and plopped down on her bed. She was already tired and it was only 8:30AM.
"I have got to stop sleeping so late. Thank goodness practice for the bella's was at 2PM…surely I'd die if it were in the morning time."
Beca reached for her bag and pulled out the book she checked out. She examined the book and cracked it open to the index.
Chapter 1 : Basics and introduction
Chapter 2 : Analyzing body language
Chapter 3 : Background and History
Chapter 4 : Facial Expressions
Chapter 5 : Micro Expressions
Chapter 6 : Mirrored Expressions
Frankly, there were 16 more chapters, but the one that really caught her attention was chapter 4, Facial expressions. There were a list of over 10+ emotions signifying the facial signals listed. For example if someone felt angry their eyebrows may be pulled down and their teeth clenched. Or relief, their eyebrows lowered and their mouth in a neutral position or smiling. Beca focused in on the signals for a surprised expression
"Eyes are wide open and the mouth dropped open widely." She read out loud
"Ehm, well yeah that makes sense. But what doesn't make sense to me was why mermaid's face reflected a surprise expression when Kristophe told her we were together. Shouldn't she have at least smiled and congratulated the two of us?"
Beca closed the book and shook her head
"Why am I getting so worked up over this, it's just a stupid expression, If I were Aubrey or Amy I'd be surprised too. I mean ME dating someone? A boy for that matter? Pigs must be flying"
Beca closed her eyes and fell asleep with the book on her chest. She awoke to a persistent knocking on the door. She figured they would leave eventually, but no, the knocking continued. Getting annoyed, Beca trudged her way to the door and swung it open.
"Don't you ever go to class Beca?" Kristophe asked as he made his way inside and sat down on her bed
"Seeing you twice in one month is too much, let alone twice in ONE day! What do you want, ughhhhh"
Kristophe smiled and plucked some lint off his jeans
"Ah Beca, always the charming one. You should treat your boyfriend with a little more kindness don't you think?" he asked, the smile never leaving his face
Beca glared at him and folded her arms while tapping her foot
"Anyway let's get lunch Beca, its already 1:30PM"
Beca pulls out her phone and looks at the time
"Oh my gosh…have I really been sleeping that long? It was supposed to be a nap not a full on sleep fest!"
Kristophe rose from the bed and pulled her along
"tsk tsk beca, you've got no sense of urgency in your life!"
"All I hear is womp womp womp from you, Kristophe. You're making me sleepy again."
It's already 2PM by the time Kristophe and Beca finish lunch
"Oh shit, I'm gonna be late Kristophe, I'll see you later!"
Beca tries to run off but Kristophe catches her wrist
"Nuh uh uh, I'm coming with you" His voice full of mischief
"Wha-why, you can't!"
"Free country, get movin sassy frass!"
The clock read 3:11PM by the time Beca arrived. Before opening the doors she tried to catch her breath
"You should really do more cardio" Kristophe added while picking his nails
"I DID do cardio, I ran at the beach, you big loser"
"Yeah right Beca, I know you. Running for 20 seconds is not even close."
"Kristophe, you…you just shut up. Shut up and don't cause trouble!"
He smirked and followed behind Beca as she slowly opened the doors. Immediately Beca was spotted.
"Ah Beca, how nice of you to join us. Well my watch says 3:15 and practice started 15 minutes ago, so you know what that means… and who is this might I ask?" Aubrey looked between Kristophe and Beca with an inquisitive look
"My name is Kristophe, I'm her boyfriend."
All the bellas looked completely surprised, especially Aubrey. There were some whispers between the girls who were quietly mentioning how they thought beca was gay, of course Chloe didn't hear them though.
"Ehm, well…right. No boyfriends allowed during practice.." Aubrey added while turning on her heel
Kristophe simply smiled and turned to beca and said loud enough for everyone to hear
"Okay babe, I'll be waiting for you outside. You know I can't spend a long time without you..i'll miss you, but I know its worth the wait." After telling this to Beca he gave her a big hug, though before leaving he snuck a glance at chloe and saw her glaring.
Beca internally rolled her eyes then looked at the bellas as they all gushed at how adorable and sweet he was. She made eye contact with Chloe and couldn't determine her facial expression.
"I'll have to look that up later when I get home." Beca thought to herself
Aubrey distracted her from her thoughts and barked are her "Alright beca, since you were late that means 15 laps!"
"But you rounded 4 minutes, Aubrey!" Beca groaned back
"Hop to it midget!"
