Chapter 16 - Take Everything
Sunday March 29th, 2015
WrestleMania
Grey eyes looked around the locker room. Roman had chosen to share a locker room with Dean and his twin cousins Jimmy and Jey. He kept thinking about all the media he had done this week leading up to WrestleMania; radio interviews, TV appearances, photo shoots, Commercial appearances. He was even doing a WWE documentary on his journey to WrestleMania for his first ever main event. They ended up interviewing his sisters, brother and even his folks. The one person they didn't interview but he wished they would have was Lizette. She wasn't his girlfriend, fiancée or wife...she wasn't anything to him right now and he hated that the most.
Tonight, he was hopeful that things would change between them. He knew she was getting ready to start her chemotherapy treatments up again in 3 days on Wednesday; technically she only had a few more weeks left of the treatments and he had already planned to be there for her. Once the treatments were finished she would have to go through rigorous testing and scans to make sure all the cancer cells were eliminated. He couldn't imagine not having her in his life or even trying to live without her. He couldn't even imagine loving anyone but her.
Roman was pulled from his thoughts as a knock on his locker room door brought him out of his Lizette filled reverie. He walked over and opened the door and the woman in question was standing in front of him with trails of tears on her cheeks. "Lizette, what's wrong? What is it baby?" His hand went under her chin as he lifted her head so their eyes could meet. Roman lowered his head slightly. "Babygirl, what's going on?"
Roman's eyes widened as Lizette stepped forward and her small body crashed into his as her arms wrapped around his torso and she buried her face into his t-shirt covered chest. Roman returned the favor and wrapped his arms around her before he gentle lifted and took a couple of steps back as he gently shoved the door closed. "You're going to have to tell me what's going on sweetheart. You already know I ain't no mind reader and you're starting to scare me."
Lizette finally calmed down as she looked up. "I need you to do something. I need you to promise me you're going to be careful in this match tonight. I need you to stay away from Brock and his damn suplexes as much as possible. I know you're a man in every sense of the word and I know you would never run away from a fight, but Brock Lesnar is not a wrestler anymore. He's still in UFC fighting mode and if he hurts you because he can't decipher between wrestling and fighting I'm going to send him back to Rena in a box."
Roman couldn't help chuckling. That was always the one thing he loved so much about Lizette; if you were in her good graces than you got all of her qualities - especially when it came to defending someone she loved.
Roman quieted down when he noticed she wasn't laughing...she was DEAD serious and for Lizette that was scary. "Hey - I'm going to be just fine. It's my first main event at WrestleMania. I'm going against the biggest guy in the company. I'm going to get my ass handed to me." He leaned down and brushed his lips across her forehead. "But I refuse to go down without a fight."
"I knew you were going to say that."
"Out of everyone in this damn company you and Dean and my cousins know me the best. I will never lay down for anyone. I Don't care who it is. I will fight until my last breath leaves my body and you know that. I want you standing out there with my mother tonight because she's going to need you and my sisters when this battle starts. I expect to get bloody, but I need you in her ear letting her know I'm okay and can handle it." Roman cupped her cheeks as his grey orbs locked with her red rimmed jade eyes. "Can you do that for me babygirl?"
"Of course. I wouldn't be anywhere else. Besides I want to e out there and watch you kick his ass and I want to see the ref raise your hand as he gives you the strap." Lizette stated honestly.
"I never said I was winning." Roman chuckled as he shook his head.
"You didn't have to; I already know you are." Lizette stated with an air of confidence.
"Okay Babygirl; okay."
::beep-beep::
Lizette sighed softly as she looked down at her cell phone. The whole time she was trying to talk with Roman her phone kept going off. She went to her text messages and there were 5 from Amora begging her to come to Baron's locker room ASAP.
She couldn't imagine what was going on as she took off down the hallway. She walked into the open door that was marked as Baron Corbin. "Okay Miss Calaway, what is so important that you had to send me a million text messages?" She asked with a snarky laugh.
Amora's face with ghostly white. "Close and lock the door. We REALLY need to talk."
Jillian looked down at the pregnancy test in her hand as she tried to decide whether or not she should pee on the damn thing or not.
The last two weeks had been hell on earth. She and Dean had been ignoring what they really wanted to discuss, but did not alienate each other. Sometimes she was a little quieter than he was used to and sometimes he was a little rougher than she would have liked but they still came together and supported each other.
Jillian plopped down into her office chair as she stared at the blue and white Clear Blue Easy box. Was she ready to be a mommy? Was Dean ready? Jesus did Dean even want kids? They hadn't been together long, but she knew she loved him; she hoped he returned her feelings. Technically they'd been dating only 3 months and she had really made Dean work for it prior to agreeing to their first date. She'd really been surprised when she laid down the law of if he was going to be her boyfriend she was NOT sharing him with anyone else and if he truly wanted to be with her; he was going to be patient and they would pace themselves.
Fat lot of good that did since she was now roughly 5 weeks late. She was never late and could set a clock by her period. If she wasn't pregnant than something was horribly wrong.
"Damn it..." Jillian sighed as she stood from her chair and walked across the room into her private bathroom. She officially loved this arena for having private bathrooms; the last thing she needed to do was accidentally drop the box on the floor with a bathroom filled with nosy gossiping Divas. Half the Divas on the roster were gossip mongrels and the other half stayed out of the gossip pool.
Jillian did her business as she set the pregnancy test on the bathroom sink and washed her hands. She turned the light off and closed the door behind her.
"To be or not to be mommy and daddy..."
Lizette was numb.
She was completely numb from head to toe.
Her mind was going through everything that Amora and Baron had just finished telling her. Baron had already been in the Andre the Giant battle royal and was thrown from the ring quite early and did the walk of shame back up the ramp and was met by Amora as she wrapped him in her loving arms. He lifted her as she wrapped her legs around his waist and he carried her back to his dressing room where a man in dark jeans and a black t-shirt was waiting for them.
Once Lizette had joined them in Baron's dressing room everything the man had explained to them they in turn told Lizette. She was now feeling physically ill. She was completely oblivious to all of it.
How did she miss it?
How did she miss the signs?
She came to a stop as Roman stepped in front of her. His vest was sitting on one of the equipment trunks and had the straps of his wrestling gear down around his waist. "Penny for your thoughts?" He asked.
Lizette was NOT going to burden Roman with this before the most important match of his career. She shook her head. "Nothing, just waiting for the new champ to come back here so I can be the first to congratulate him." She smiled softly when he chuckled at her.
"You do realize I want to spend some time with you on our days off right?" Roman requested gently.
"Oh my the new champion wants to spend time with a commoner? What will the champions before you say about that?" Lizette teased.
"If they know you they'll think I'm one lucky bastard." Roman teased back even though he was completely serious. He leaned down and softly kissed her lips. "I have to go down for a meeting with Vince and Paul; you know the 'BIG TALK'. I'll probably see you before I have to go up top." He watched as she nodded and he stepped around her and took off down the hall.
Jesus Christ, his bare chest still made her insides melt.
She was going to be in big trouble soon. She may have been denying her feelings for him but her love for him was returning fast; truth be told she never stopped loving him and now...now she was even more in love with him.
Nevermind...she was already in big trouble.
Jillian stared at the pregnancy test. She swallowed hard as her eyes took in the answer. She bit her bottom lip as she suddenly felt the silent tears slip from her eyes and down her cheeks. She was snapped from her thoughts when one of the assistants crashed through her office door.
"Dean's been busted open. Luke Harper power bombed him on a ladder and he's on his way to the trainers office."
"Thank you Marie." Jillian jumped up, she'd already changed from her work clothes into jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt. Everyone back stage who had already done their segments and matches were showered and trying to wind down. She had already taken her things to the rental so all she grabbed was her cell phone, the rental keys and the pregnancy test as she took off running towards the trainers office.
Jillian slid to a stop in the doorway of the trainers office.
Dean's head snaps up his blues connect with her beautiful hazel and he throws his hands up. "I'm okay; right doc?" He asks sideways as he looks at Doctor Sampson.
Dr. Sampson laid out the suture tray. "His brain is a little more scrambled, but it's not leaking out - at least not that I can tell. There's just a small gash in the back; nothing a couple of stitches can't help."
"Doc, can you give us a minute?" Jillian asked in a soft voice. She watched as he nodded and stepped out of the room. Jillian walked over and handed the box with the pregnancy test inside over to Dean.
His blue eyes widened. "Did you do it?" He watched as she nodded. "I thought you wanted to wait?" He watched as she shook her head negatively. "Are you going to say anything to me or are you waiting for me to open the box?" When she nodded once more Dean looked down at the box once again as he opened it before he tipped it up and the plastic stick slid out and into his hand as the display read PREGNANT. "Well Damn darlin' you sure know how to capitalize on turning a shitty night into a better one."
Jillian's head snapped up. "What?" Her chest clenched tightly as she watched Dean move over on the exam table and patted the space next to him. She slowly walked over and he gently gripped her hips and lifted her onto the table next to him.
Silence fell between them but only for a few minutes before Jillian spoke up.
"So were really doing this?" She asked softly.
Dean reached over and took her hand in his before he nodded. "Absolutely. These last two weeks have kept me in knots not knowing if you were or not. I always swore if I had kids I wanted to be there for them because I didn't even know my father; he was just some random dude my mother hooked up with and got knocked up by but didn't seem to want to stick around. Then I started thinking about if you were pregnant who the baby would look more like. If they would have your mesmerizing hazel eyes and my curls and a mixture of our skin tone; something akin to a nice vanilla latte - your plump red lips - my athletic ability - and your brains. Jesus we could have like 4 or 5 little genius Dellians running around ruling the wrestling world."
Jillian smirked. "Did you just create our child's name with a portmanteau?"
"I did indeed. The question is; is this what you want because I already know I'm ready for whatever happens. I thought for sure I would drag my feet and get pissed off because your birth control failed us..." Dean looked over at Jillian as he reached over with his thumb and wiped the tears sliding down her cheeks away. "I spent too much time thinking about all of it. I just want you and I want that baby."
"But...we haven't even been together for 6 months." Jillian tried to argue when Dean hopped off the table and wiped more tears from her cheeks.
"I don't care. You made me work my ass off to have you and now that I do and I've officially marked you with my seed you're not going anywhere with our child. I love you Jillian. The guys can call me a pussy for it...Hell I don't give a shit I was called worse when I wrestled in the Indies. I'm yours and you're mine and little Dellian you're carrying is OURS. And no one can take that away." His hand caressed her flat stomach.
Jillian blinked as more tears slid down her cheeks as she covered his hand with hers. "Yea they really can't; can they..."
Dean cupped her cheeks as he softly kissed her lips. "Don't cry little momma. I don't need you getting sick or being stressed; it will only hurt you or the baby and I demand you both be healthy."
"And here I thought I was going to be the demanding one." Jillian teased.
"You can be the demanding one when I have to out at 3 am to get ice cream and dill pickles." Dean chuckled when Jillian made a retching face and swatted his chest.
"You're really - really sure you want this?" Jillian asked once more.
"I will take everything in this life."
Lizette stood with the rest of Roman's family as they watched suplex after suplex and blow after blow that Brock inflicted on Roman's body. It was almost too much for Lizette to witness. Between the suplexes and the F5's Brock did to Roman Lizette just felt as if a piece of her heart was breaking off.
At one point Brock clotheslined him off the apron onto the mat outside the ring and everyone was sure Roman was done for. Everything got turned around when Roman shoved Brock into the ring post and he got busted open and was gushing blood down his face. Roman hit three superman punches and a spear and Brock was still kicking out.
Brock finally gave him back to back suplexes before F5ing Roman once more and got the three count. Lizette watched as Brock's hand was raised as she shook her head.
This wasn't possible.
It wasn't supposed to happen like this.
This wasn't happening.
But it was...and it did.
