Brand New Day And The Hogwarts Express

"This is a new beginning and things will change"

Lux woke before dawn on September 1. She left a note for the Dursleys, who probably forgot that she was off to school that day, and then walked a couple blocks to a café. She ate a small breakfast then called a Muggle cab from Payphone.

Lux made small talk with the diver on the way to King's Cross Station. When she got there the cabbie man got her a cart and loaded her Trunk into it. The man eyed Hermes as he squawked when the cabbie almost dropped him. Lux paid the Man with Money she stole from Dudley's stash of the years and wheeled the cart towards the Station.

On her way inside she saw a familiar scruffy man standing at the entrance watching the crowd. Smiling, she snuck up behind him, "Hello Uncle Moony."

The man jumped a little bit before smiling down at his cub.

Ten minutes later Lux walked along Moony, who was pushing her cart. They chatted until they reached the platform between 9 and 10. Lux paused, "So where is the famous Platform 9 ¾?"

"Through that wall."

"What?"

Uncle Moony didn't answer her because he was already running full speed to the wall between platform 9 and 10. Lux was amazed as he disappeared into the wall instead of crashing into it. She walked forward and put her hand on the wall, it disappeared into it. Lux smiled and retracted it, but as soon as she retracted it another hand came from the wall, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into the wall.

Lux was meet with the sight of her smirking Uncle and a nearly abandon platform. She gazed with wonder at a large, scarlet steam engine that was labeled 'Hogwarts Express'. Lux glanced up at Moony to see that his eyes were unfocused and filled with memories from the past.

Moony quickly composed himself and faced Lux, "I am afraid this is where I leave you."

"Why?" Lux tried to hide the disappointed tone of her voice. After all, he didn't have to help her find the platform in the first place much less see her off to Hogwarts.

Apparently she didn't hide the disappointment as much as she would have like because Uncle Moony winced, "I wish I could stay but I have another job interview in half an hour."

Lux searched for a clock; that was stationed on the other side of the platform.

8 : 58

Lux sighed deeply, "Don't worry, Remus. I understand. Good Luck, I hope you get the job."

Remus frowned before bending down to Lux's Level to hug her, "Don't forget to write and tell me all about your own adventures. Hermes will know where to deliver the letter. Have fun! "

Lux hugged Moony back, "See you later."

Uncle Moony passed through the wall and went back into the Muggle World for a job interview. Little did she know that the Job was located in Little Whinging, Surrey. Lux would see a lot more of Uncle Moony when she returned from Hogwarts.

Lux boarded the train and went to find a compartment. She pulled out 'Hogwarts, a history' and skipped ahead to the section on Hogwarts Express to pass the time.

Sometime in between 1819 and 1849, Ottaline Gambol rose to the office of Minister of Magic, and she made a daring and controversial suggestion to solve the ages-old problem of how to transport hundreds of students to and from Hogwarts every school year without attracting the Muggles' attention: intrigued by the Muggle technology, the Minister saw the potential of using a train as a secure and comfortable alternative to Portkeys or to unregulated means of travel. There was initial resistance from pure-blood families against using a Muggle-built device for wizard transportation (which, they claimed, was "unsafe, insanitary and demeaning"), until the Ministry decreed that students would arrive to school on the train or not attend at all.

Since 1932, the Hogwarts Express has been used as a carrier of the Trace Charm so that every new student that walks on the Platform will have the Charm on them until they turn seventeen…

Lux slammed the book closed with a disappointed sigh that she would not be able use magic outside of school now. She closed her eyes and leaned against the cool glass of the window. As she sat there, she sorted through her mind in order to focus on the pros and cons of the newly cast trace charm that was on her.

Con: she cannot practice magic outside of school.

Pro: the train is an exception.

Con-

"RIGEL!" Lux was startled out of her thoughts by the sound of a raspy screech. She turned to the source and saw a regal old woman leading the 'Toujours Pur' boy from the bookshop with an equally regal-looking elderly man.

The trio made a beautiful group. The woman had Blonde hair, an upturned nose and a permanent scowl on her face. The man had long black hair and an aura classified him as hard and dour. Lux was amazed that both had the ability to make someone inferior with blank facial expressions

Lux observed as the old woman started giving the boy a lecture complete with the 'finger wag' and leaned closer to the window.

"…you are the heir of the Ancient and Noble house of Black. You have an image to uphold, do not ruin our family name. Do not disappoint us. "

"Yes, Aunt Druella," Rigel Black said. "Goodbye, Aunt Druella, Uncle Cygnus."

The elderly couple nodded at their nephew then disappeared with a loud crack.

The Boy turned toward the scarlet steam engine and Lux saw a flicker of apprehension in his gray eyes before he bored the train. Lux sat silently in her compartment, deep in thought about the expectations of purebloods. She didn't understand.

Lux's anxiety began to grow. She didn't understand the strange, new culture that the Wizarding world had. She was at a disadvantage.

And she didn't like it.

She may not understand their culture, but she would understand the magic.

Around 10:30 is when things at the platform started to get hectic. Families started arriving and bid their child goodbye with tears in their eyes. Lux watched as the people passed with a gazed expression until she saw a clan of redheads come through the entrance of the Platform.

The family stood out in the sea of brunettes and blondes, but what caught her interest were two identical twin boys pushing each other. Lux smiled at the spark in their eyes. She knew that they were troublemakers.

Lux's thoughts were only confirmed as they both noticed her watching them and they winked in unison. She looked down and blushed. She leaded forward to watch the red-haired family on the platform and hear what they were saying.

Their mother had just taken out her hanker chief.

"Ron, you've got something on your nose."

The youngest boy tried to jerk out of the way, but she grabbed him and began rubbing the end of his nose.

"Mom — geroff." He wriggled free.

"Aaah, has ickle Ronnie got somefink on his nosie?" said one of the twins.

"Shut up," said Ron.

"Where's Percy?" said their mother.

"He's coming now."

The oldest boy came striding into sight. He had already changed into his billowing black Hogwarts robes, and Raven noticed a shiny red and gold badge on his chest with the letter P on it. He was a Prefect.

"Can't stay long, Mother," he said. "I'm up front, the prefects have got two compartments to themselves —"

"Oh, are you a prefect, Percy?" said one of the twins, with an air of great surprise. "You should have said something, we had no idea."

"Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it," said the other twin. "Once —"

"Or twice —"

"A minute —"

"All summer —"

"Oh, shut up," said Percy the Prefect as Lux quietly giggled behind her hand.

"How come Percy gets new robes, anyway?" said one of the twins.

"Because he's a prefect," said their mother fondly. "All right, dear, well, have a good term — send me an owl when you get there."

She kissed Percy on the cheek and he left. Lux got the feeling that the woman was playing favorites as she watched the mother turn to the funny twins. "Now, you two — this year, you behave yourselves. If I get one more owl telling me you've — you've blown up a toilet or —"

"Blown up a toilet? We've never blown up a toilet."

"Great idea though, thanks, Mum."

"It's not funny. And look after Ron."

"Don't worry, ickle Ronniekins is safe with us," the twins teased their younger brother.

"Shut up," said Ron again. He was almost as tall as the twins already and his nose was still pink where his mother had rubbed it.

A whistle sounded.

"Hurry up!" their mother said, and the three boys clambered onto the train. They leaned out of the window for her to kiss them good-bye, and their younger sister began to cry.

"Don't, Ginny, we'll send you loads of owls."

"We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat."

"George!"

"Only joking, Mum," one of the twins said.

The train began to move. Lux saw the boys' mother waving and their sister, half laughing, half crying, running to keep up with the train until it gathered too much speed. Lux watched the girl and her mother disappear as the train rounded the corner. Houses flashed past the window. Lux felt a great leap of excitement. She was going to Hogwarts.

The door of the compartment slid open and the twins piled in. They sat across from Lux with mischievous smiles on their faces, "Hullo, ickle firstie."

Lux was surprised by the sheer audacity and blushed, "Hello."

"We saw you-"

"-watching us, love."

The witch arched a brow at the twins, "and?"

The twin's eyebrows shot up to their hair lines before they turned to each other, "I like this one-"

"-me, too."

They turned back to Lux and said together, "Did we introduce ourselves?-"

"-I'm Fred Weasley-"

"-I'm George Weasley-"

"-at your service," they said simultaneously.

Lux let out a laugh before holding out her hand, "I'm Lux. It's a pleasure to meet you."

The Weasley Twins smile dropped off their face and they gapped at the younger witch, "Lux? As in Lux Potter?"

Lux dropped her hand and sadly said, "The one and the same."

Lux gave the twin boys a tight smile; she hoped that people wouldn't treat her differently once they knew who she was. I was clear to her now that it was a false hope. She was unsure what to do next, but the twins grabbed each hand and got on her knees before her.

"Lady Potter," George started. "It is an honor to meet you-"

"-and we are most humble to stand in your awe-inspiring presence-"

"-please, Lady Potter, do not despair."

Lux smiled at the comical display. After deciding that they don't look like people after fame and money, she gently grasped the twin's hands and pulled them up with surprising strength. "I prefer to be called Lux."

Fred and George gave her a warm smile, "Of course, Lady Lux."

Lux sat down and gestured for the twins to join her, "What year are you in?"

One of the duo said, "This is our third year, ickle firstie."

"What is Hogwarts like?" Lux already heard many stories from Uncle Moony and read about quite a few from Hogwarts, A History, but she wanted to hear other stories.

And the twins were happy to comply. They launched into stories about the many secret passage ways that they had discovered and the many pranks they had played. They were halfway through the story of the time they turned their best mate, Lee, into a cocker spaniel for a day when another redhead entered the compartment.

"Hello, Ron."

The boy ignored the twins greeting and went straight to Lux, "Are you Lux Potter?"

Lux arched her eyebrow again, "Yes."

"I'm Ron, Ron Weasley," Ron plopped next to her. "I've been looking for you."

And I Live! Sorry guys for taking such a long time. I suck, but I am here now!

Thank You to those who reviewed and favorited and followed.

Penny is Wise - Thank you for your review!

CoastalFirebird - Thank you for all your reviews and i hope you continue to enjoy the story.

FreeTraderBeowolf - I believe your question about why there were no magic warnings since she was using her wand was answered in this chapter. The reason I reached this conclusion was because of Hermione at on the train ride mention that all of the spells she tried worked out for her. So, I thought that she also practiced before she was sent to Hogwarts. Ergo, she was allowed to practice magic. Yet, she is no longer able to practice magic outside of Hogwarts and the Train.

god of all - sorry I took a while to update. :)

Sorry this chapter wasn't very long! I promise to update soon!
