Hi all! Thank you all for the support so far! Hope you enjoy =)
Bonnie Bennett was rendered with blurry vision as she slowly opened her eyes. Nothing looked familiar as she tried to make out her surroundings, and that caused a small inkling of fear to pass through her when she couldn't come up to a single explanation to where she was.
"Bout time you woke up."
She didn't know what made her almost jump out of her skin more, the loud crash coming from a television across the room, or her cousin Lucy Bennett sitting beside her on a bed that was not her own.
The latter was no doubt the winner.
"Lucy?" She didn't know why she felt the need for confirmation. She may have not laid eyes on her cousin since the Masquerade Gala a few years ago, but she couldn't forget what she looked like and she definitely couldn't denounce the strong aurora that could only be felt when another Bennett was present.
"The one and only." She confirmed, flipping through channels. "The least Damon could have done was put you in a decent hotel with unlimited movie channels. This motel barely has basic cable."
Hearing Damon's name made Bonnie's stomach feel like it was sinking into a bottomless pit.
"Damon? Where is he?" Her voice couldn't hide the fact that she was worried and petrified.
"At the bar across the street and you're at a Motel 6 just outside of New Orleans."
New Orleans? What the hell? It was safe to say that confusion had rung its ugly little head.
"Damon took you out of Mystic Falls the other day after your little dark magic showdown."
Showdown?
It took Bonnie a moment to regain her thoughts, but when she did, her breath caught in her throat, and she didn't know if breathing would actually help. She remembered everything; the fight with Damon, the necromancy spell, Caroline, Liz, breaking Elena's neck, and then Damon having to bite her; draining her to the point that she could feel her own life ending. She could remember the way the necromancy spell made her feel; the burning of acid flowing through her blood stream. The way it started off painful and then turned into a feeling of pleasure. She could even remember how darkness almost won….how she almost let it win.
"What's going on with you, cuz? Some of the covens in the northeast were ringing my phone off the hook and then I get a call from Damon the other day demanding that I make my way down here, even though I can't particularly stand Louisiana, long story there. You're already on thin ice because of the whole expression ordeal."
She was aware of that last piece of information. A coven of witches almost ended her life due to being under expression's spell, even though she was manipulated into using it, and she knew a lot of witches weren't happy with her working alongside vampires. But, something else stuck in her mind from Lucy's revelation.
"What do you mean the other day?"
"You've been out of it for 48 hours. That was another reason Damon was worried. When I got here he was forcing so much blood down your throat I thought you would drown."
Bonnie took a deep breath. Her mind kept replaying everything and she knew without a doubt that Damon was pissed at her. Could she blame him? Not at all. She put him in a position that he desperately didn't want to be in, and instead of looking at it from his point of view, she allowed her want for power to overcome it.
And that wasn't fair.
"So, you ready to tell me what happened? Give me an idea where your head's at before I speak my mind?"
Bonnie found herself leaning back against the head board. She may have not been around Lucy for more than 24 hours combined, but she was family, and apparently would drop any and everything to come to her aide if needed. There was a connection there, so she opted to confide in the older witch.
"I just…." She cleared her throat. "I wanted Caroline to have closure. I wanted….I didn't want her humanity to be shut off; to stay emotionless. That's not who she is."
"Okay. Well, now I'm going to ask again and this time I want you to be honest. Caroline's grown and she's a vampire who doesn't need a babysitter. So, what were you thinking? And I want the truth."
Bonnie mentally cursed under her breath. It seemed like Damon wasn't the only one who could tell when she was trying to avoid something. And maybe admitting it out loud would even help her make sense of what she did and why she did it.
"I wanted to help Caroline… I truly did. But then I thought… I thought that with all the training I've been doing… all the magic I could feel flowing inside of me… I thought I was ready to control it. I thought I could tackle a bigger spell… kill two birds with one stone and just take some risks. I thought that Damon wouldn't even have to resort to…" She paused for a moment, trying to keep her tears at bay. "I just… I thought I could have handled it and he wouldn't have had to do anything. I was wrong."
It was said that confessing everything out loud was supposed to make people feel better, but right now it really didn't.
"Are you ready for some wise words?" she nodded at Lucy's question. "And just so you know I'm not here to coddle you."
Bonnie sat up to face her, crossing her legs in the process, "I'm listening."
"First things first. You're right. You're not ready and you were wrong. Bonnie, you have the potential to be the most powerful witch this world has ever seen. I can even admit that you have the power to overpass me and I've been doing this a lot longer than you have. Ever witch and coven around the world knows your name, and not just because you come from a line of powerful Bennett witches. Some witches will right out admit that they're jealous of you and even afraid of what you could do when you come to your full potential.
"I mean come on; you've died how many times? And one time was actually from expression; one of the most dangerous magic's there is. And then you coming back still having even a small amount of access to it is quite extraordinary. It's kind of unbelievable if you want to get technical. But, with all that being said, don't fuck with nature, Bonnie. There really isn't even a better term for it and if there was I wouldn't care to use it. Having all of that magic inside of you means that nature gave you a gift. It chose you to be the one to carry it. You don't want to mess that up.
"You're a smart girl, but your patience needs to be stronger. You can't think that you can force yourself to apply all of that magic in a few self trainings and not actually take the time to learn it; to truly understand it. Especially dark magic. There are some practitioners that will never be able to come close to accessing dark magic without it killing them or not being able to rise above the consequences and control it. You actually have the ability to not have any consequences. But you can't rush it, because if you do, nature is going to retaliate. It's going to end you… and you're not going to come back. It's entrusting you with eons of power…"
"But what if I'm not ready for that?" She cut her off. What if she couldn't do it? "What if it all becomes too much and I won't be equipped with handling it without going dark or killing myself and others along the way?"
"Because for starters you were able to stop yourself. Accessing necromancy without practice and sometimes without having a solid coven behind you to utilize everyone's magic, can not only be dangerous, it can be life threatening. Some people don't come back from it and certainly don't have the ability to stop it. Actually now that I think about it, the few witches that did necromancy on their own, died, and the one coven that I know of that did it, were locked away because they let it get the best of them. But, that's another story for another time.
"My point is; you took some procedures to stop yourself just in case….even though what you did could have backfired, you made a plan and you succeeded. You held on when in all honesty, you shouldn't have survived."
Lucy was right. It was still so much that Bonnie needed to learn and understand, and she wouldn't be able to do that if she died….again. And permanently this time.
"You're a Bennett. That's an honor in itself. Prove these jealous witches wrong that you're not a stupid inexperienced child. You have the power to handle it all you just have to have the power to be patient. Nature chose you for a reason. It only did that for the first witch to walk the planet and she ruined it."
That new piece of information made Bonnie's eyes widen a bit.
"Qetsiyah?"
Lucy almost snorted, "Girl, Qetsiyah was powerful, yes. Created the immortality spell, cure, and the other side and all, but that bitch really couldn't even get her own self out of it after she died."
"Well I can definitely tell who her biggest fan wasn't."
"She's a bitch. When I died, for a short amount of time mind you, she was nothing but rude and spiteful to me. Can't help that your man chose someone else and I called her out on it for harping on that shit for 2000 years. Not my problem."
Another fact that shocked Bonnie.
"You've died?"
"I have. I think all of the Bennett's have been a part of the dying club, but I think we've been the only ones lucky enough to come back."
"How did it happen, you dying, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Well your cousin maybe wise, but I too have been the victim of necromancy. I did it once for someone I was in love with. They died and since they were human they couldn't go to the other side. Long story short, none of it worked out the way I wanted it too, but with the help from another witch and the Petrova doppelbitch's blood, I was able to come back."
So, that's how she got mixed up with owing Katherine. Interesting.
"It's not one of my proudest moments. But look, we can talk about me tomorrow when I take you to lunch, because there's still something else I wanted to discuss with you."
Bonnie would actually rather hear about Lucy's life than continue talking about hers. She barely knew anything about her cousin and it would be nice to have a family member she could truly bond with and learn things from.
But obviously that was going to have to wait.
"Now look, everything I've just told you, I want you to know that we all go through things. We all make mistakes. We may be witches, but we're still human. We have our flaws. Your biggest one just so happens to be that you take the term martyr to a whole different level. It's okay to be heroic, but you have to understand that you shouldn't have to put yourself in that position. I know you love your friends… I get that, but at the end of the day there are just some things you shouldn't have to do. You need to take a few steps back and figure out why you keep doing what you're doing. There's a reason. And when you finally figure it out, come to realize that you can't make everyone happy. I'm going to be honest when I say it doesn't happen overnight, even as much as you think it can, it doesn't. So, don't kick yourself in the head for relapsing sometimes. Take that into consideration that you have sacrificed yourself a lot. You've felt pain that others haven't and that's not a fun feeling…."
Bonnie tried to prevent the tears from appearing in her eyes, but she failed.
A box of tissues materialized right in front of her, and even though it brought a small smile to her face, she still couldn't stop the tears.
Lucy pulling her into a hug didn't make them cease either. "Now, before you think I'm a complete and total bitch, how are you feeling? I tend to save the sentimental stuff for last. It was a big spell, that left you comatose for a couple of days, Bonnie."
"For the most part I feel fine. A little buzzing here and there, but I don't feel any different."
"Good. Just remember what I said. We all do things. We all make mistakes. We're not perfect. I just want you to try your best, be patient, and don't forget about the little people when you excel."
They both shared chuckle at her ending statement.
Bonnie wiped her eyes. "Thank you, Lucy. You don't know how much I appreciate you."
"Feelings mutual. I may be hard to get in contact with, but when it's dealing with you, I'm only a phone call away."
There was something that Bonnie needed to know though that she was surprised she hadn't asked earlier.
"How did you know so much about what happened? Some things that you know, Damon doesn't even know yet."
"I'm a very quick study." She said, standing up to stretch a bit. "Well that and I used a little spell to get inside your mind while you were out. I didn't know if it was magically induced, and some information was presented to me. Don't worry I skipped over all the sharing/bonding energy crap with a certain blue eyed vampire. Which by the way we have to address that elephant in the room."
Before Bonnie could open her mouth to say anything, Damon walked inside. That bottomless pit feeling came back and it seemed like the air in the room disappeared.
Apparently, Lucy took that as her cue. "Well, I'm in need of a stiff drink." She glanced back to Bonnie before she walked out the door. "I'll see you tomorrow for lunch." Her eyes then found Damon's. "If anything pops off, Salvatore, I'll personally serve you your head on a platter."
And then she was gone.
Bonnie's eyes connected with Damon's as they stood what felt like two continents apart, even though they were in a very small room. Every ounce of her being wanted to run over to him and hug him, kiss him or hell, even grab his hand in hers. Any type of physical connection that could help her ease the ache and worry in her heart would be great. She was even trying her best to ignore the heavy smell of booze mixed in with lady's perfume that was branded in her nose, but she couldn't ignore the way he placed a plastic bag down on the table that she didn't realize he was holding until now. And she couldn't ignore the way he walked right past her to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
She exhaled the breath she had been holding once she heard the shower running. Having a pissed off and angry Damon was something that she didn't like, but having a Damon that ignored her, she absolutely hated.
An instant smell of barbecue and lemon pepper entered her nose, and her eyes immediately locked on the bag Damon put down earlier. She opened it to see the assorted flavor of wings with a side of fries next to it. Her stomach automatically made an obscene whale noise at the masterpiece, and she knew it was for her because Damon wasn't a big fan of those two flavors mixed together. And even though she was hungry and her mouth decided to water, actually consuming the food would be a whole different story. Too much was on her mind to keep anything down right now.
No sooner as she sat down and leaned her head back on the chair to think, Damon walked out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist. She tried not to stare at the water dripping from his body, or the sexual surge that decided to rush through her because of it.
And when the towel dropped, Bonnie couldn't help but allow her eyes to drift down. She didn't know how long she had been staring shamelessly at what Damon was packing below his waist, while he went through his duffle bag, but she couldn't seem to turn away. There had only been one time that Bonnie had seen Damon stark nude, and that was because she had walked into his room in the prison world without knocking. Granted, they had been intimate with one another not too long ago, but that didn't mean she had got a full shot of what he had to offer.
When she snapped out of it, he was getting dressed, and she couldn't help but wonder if this was it between them. That if and when he decided to talk to her again would he want to end everything that they had established. Would the bond that they had built be truly over?
But then again, she did have to keep in mind that he brought her to some remote area in Louisiana and was still here with her.
"Are we going to talk about this?" she asked before even realizing it.
More silence.
"Damon…."
She guessed she got her final answer when he got into bed and turned over so he wouldn't face her.
Sighing in defeat, Bonnie found her duffel bag in the corner and took it into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. Her head was starting to hurt and so many emotions were flowing through her right now, she didn't even know what to think. All she knew was that the consequence she was facing with Damon was actually worse than what the necromancy did to her.
She didn't know how long she had been standing in the shower, but the water hitting her skin felt truly immaculate. Moments from the past began entering her mind; moments that she wished she could relive again. Her mom used to take her to the park every other day and push her on the swings when she was a child. That was really the only childhood memory she had of her mom. Her grandmother would always have freshly made cookies waiting for them when they got home, and her dad would be breaking something as he attempted to do work on the house. Those were memories that made her feel warm inside… those were memories that she so desperately missed.
"You need to take a few steps back and figure out why you keep doing what you're doing."
Lucy's words immediately entered her mind.
"Can you stop trying to be the hero? I know you have a martyr complex, but I need you alive."
Damon's was next as she remembered a conversation they had not too long ago.
"You just gave me a speech yesterday on how you were going to put yourself first. How can you go back on your word just one day later?"
And after that, it just seemed like a slew of memories decided to flash in her head.
"I just don't want to hurt or feel anything right now. Hurting and killing people aren't part of the plan."
"They were supposed to live…. None of this is fair…"
"You do know what you and Damon have won't work right… he's going to outlive you…."
Images began drowning her all at once and it was becoming a bit unbearable. The only reason she snapped out of it was the hand that touched her arm, and her magic causing the knob on the showerhead to slightly bend.
Her eyes connected with Damon's and the look on his face was too stoic for her to comprehend. She automatically tried to cover herself with her arms, but the towel he placed around her, stopped that movement. Out of instinct, she leaned into him and allowed her forehead to rest among his. The feeling of comfort engulfed her when he didn't move away.
"Please… talk to me…"
But he didn't. Instead, he turned and walked out. She could feel that it was hard for him to do that, so she followed him.
"Damon…"
"What!" He yelled, causing her to jump a little.
Bonnie wasn't scared of Damon, and his yelling at her didn't change that fact, but with the look in his eyes and the pain that she could feel radiating off of him, she couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy.
"What do you want to talk about? That you almost died? That I had to be the one to almost kill you? Do you want to talk about how I can barely stand to be around you because of that? I can't even… I can't look at your face right now. I can't talk to you. So just drop it."
Bonnie stayed silent as he got back in bed.
"And make sure you eat the food I brought you, I don't need you to die from starvation."
In a sense a feeling warmed its way into her heart at his mini command, but at first, an ounce of stubbornness engulfed her, not wanting to eat anything he brought her if he was just going to ignore her. But, the hunger pangs sprung up again, and when she realized that she could keep all of her food down, she practically inhaled it.
It was safe to say that after she ate and laid down beside him, on the far opposite side of the bed, so they wouldn't be nowhere near each other, she couldn't help but feel restless. Sleeping was going to be damn near impossible.
And even though she didn't know if Damon was really asleep or faking it, she still couldn't help but let a few words escape her lips.
"I love you… and I'm sorry." Her voice was so low, even to her ears, and she wondered if she had even said it out loud.
It was confirmed that she had, when she felt a slight shift on the bed as he scooted up right behind her. Though he may have not enveloped her in his arms, she couldn't deny the instant calm that flooded through her body.
Damon's eyes opened a little slower than usual today. This was the first time in a couple nights that he could finally say that he had a semi peaceful sleep; that he had found a bit of relaxation. He may have been technically dead….or undead, but that didn't mean sleep wasn't a necessity. And the only reason he was able fill that need was because of the woman lying asleep next to him.
Saying that he was angry and frustrated was an understatement, but right now as he stared at the peaceful look on Bonnie's face, seemed to make it all subside for the moment. The last two days with her unconscious had been hell on earth and even though he was being a dick and giving her the silent treatment, he was ultimately glad she was okay.
He was halfway to Louisiana when he called up Bonnie's cousin to meet them. He remembered that he could barely talk when he practically begged the older witch to come. And when they finally got to their destination and Bonnie still wasn't awake, he panicked. He almost drained himself dry and drowned her in his blood just to get her to wake up. Yes, her heart beat had been stable, but her breathing wasn't even, so in all sense he was scared. And Damon Salvatore never got scared.
So, he was more than grateful that she was awake, but ever since he had to bite her, he couldn't think of anything else. Just when he was finally getting those images out of his head of her being hurt and left alone in the prison world and almost dying in that car accident, he had to go and do what he did. And what was even worse about the whole ordeal was that she asked him to do it.
He should have said no. To anyone else, he would have said no. He would have put his foot down and they would have figured out another way. But, when it came to Bonnie, he wanted to give her those choices instead of ripping it away. It just frustrated him that she still didn't seem to get it. It was like she didn't think that her life didn't matter to anyone. But the thing is, if she had died that night… if she had left him, it would have ended him. Why did she not understand that?
When Lucy finally arrived, he left the Bennett cousins alone in hopes that she would succeed in waking her up. He just couldn't be there. He couldn't wait around just in case she failed. And he was glad she didn't, because when he arrived back and saw that she was awake, he couldn't even describe the feeling coursing through him. But, could he tell her that? Could he just flat out and pull her into his arms like his body was aching too? No. He couldn't tell her… he couldn't show her. He was hurt. He was ignoring her because he wanted her to feel what he felt; to feel how she made him feel. Anyone would probably call him childish with some messed up logic, but it was his logic. Damon logic as some would see.
When he was at the dive bar across the street, he even tried sating all of that pain and hurt with alcohol and blood from females, but nothing worked. Bonnie's blood was still flowing through his veins and it disgusted him how his hunger pangs wouldn't be satisfied with anything else. That was another reason why he lashed out last night; why it was hard to look at her, but hard to turn away.
If it were Elena, they probably would have hid behind their problems with sex. Whether he and Bonnie had crossed that boundary, he still wouldn't want to get between her thighs and let that be the end of it. He didn't want this to go unhandled.
Bonnie Bennett was his best friend. She wasn't just someone that he wanted to forget about or cut off when things got rough. And that was saying a lot to him. If it were Stefan, he would have just broke his neck and called it a day. They would have held the silent treatment and exchanged a few words and then been done with it. But with Bonnie, he was so hurt and so scared that she was going to die and leave him one day that he couldn't even really think. Letting her go just wasn't an option. And it never would be.
So, he brought her here, to some Podunk motel in the middle of nowhere. His first intentions were to pay the Mikaelson family a visit in New Orleans because apparently they had powerful witches there, but that didn't really work out too well, so Lucy had been his next option. Which he was stupid not to contact her first.
And now he was lying next to her, watching her sleep; listening to the steady beat of her heart, her even breaths, and the blood flowing properly within her. It wasn't a secret that he loved Bonnie, and even though it was uncharacteristic of him, he would shout it from the rooftops if needed. He's literally had half of her soul swimming around in him, vice versa. He has felt everything about her… he knew what made her tick, he knew what each different facial expression and body gesture meant. And that was something that he could never share with anyone else; something he didn't want to share with anyone else.
When she stirred awake, her eyes connected with his, and he saw a hint of a smile grace her lips before it disappeared. She was afraid of even smiling at him right now because of his ignorance.
"I love you." The three words come out of his mouth before he could take his next breath.
Her smile comes back, and he couldn't help but pull her into his arms. He craved her touch….her warmth.
"I love you too." She says, and his chest tightens. They've admitted their love out loud before, shit, he's felt that love with their connection sharing, but saying it again… hearing those words directed towards him could never cease to amaze him. He was so damn lucky to have her in his life.
"Are you feeling better?" Would be his first question, because in all honesty he truly wanted to know… he needed to know.
She answers with a nod. But that's all she says because she's waiting on him to talk. She's been waiting on him to talk all night while she wrestled with sleep.
And then it happens. Before he can get another word out, he's hit with another flash of him draining her dry… of her pulse weakening in his grasp, and then without another thought, he's moving her off of him.
The look on her face holds nothing but worry as she tries to reach out and touch his hand, but yet all he can do is stop her. He can't have her touch him… not yet. He didn't know why he thought he was ready.
When he finally calms down, she's sitting cross legged in bed, and he's lying back with his hands behind his head.
"What do you need?" Her voice was soft.
Damon looks at her hands folded in her lap; almost like she's afraid to touch him and yet he's the one afraid to touch her… afraid to bring her any pain.
"I need what happened the other day not to happen again." He didn't know if his words came out as a command, but beneath it all, it was more like a hidden plea. "I need you to survive and you putting me in that position was…"
"Wrong." She continued for him. "I was wrong to do that to you and I'm sorry. I don't know Damon, I wanted so bad for things to just work out. I wanted to help Caroline, and I wanted to do something for myself all the same time and I thought… I thought I was ready to tackle something big without you even having to do what you did. I never wanted to put you in that position."
The revelation that she wasn't just playing the martyr this time still didn't make it any better.
"I'm not perfect. I'm going to make mistakes and have relapses. And I think…" She pauses, trying to get her words together, and he would wait forever if need be. "I think it comes from this place of being insecure. People always leave, and they die, and I feel like when my mom left or grams died or my dad… I felt like I could have done something different. So, I always feel like I need to do something. Because just being me, I feel like isn't enough to make someone stay. So, if I save the day… save the world… I'll be needed. Because if I don't…whose going to need me then? It's stupid right?" She wiped away a few tears. "And then you being this upset, it's… I'm not used to having someone care this much… to care for me like you do…" She cleared her throat, and pushed a smile through her tears. "So, I have a lot to work on as you can see."
Hearing Bonnie confess all of this made him wonder how someone so amazing and damn near perfect in his eyes, could have any insecurities.
"I need you. That may never be enough, but I do. And I don't want you to be perfect. I mean you're talking to the person with more issues than a time magazine." Maybe he could have used a better saying. "I react blindly at times without thinking. Hell, I'd rather you be selfish all the time than play the martyr roll. But, I don't want to see you hurt… I don't want you risking your life for anyone or over some big spell. Your life means something and you need to understand that. It means the world to me."
She reached for his hand again, but he kept it away.
"Damon…"
His silence told her everything.
"I'm not going to break if you touch me. I would actually prefer it right now…"
"But I might….break…I might…." He confessed. "You don't know how it feels to watch you almost die, and then to be the one to do it…."
He doesn't necessarily remember getting up and walking over to the table, but he's now drinking a little too greedily from the bottle of bourbon he took from the bar last night.
Bonnie's standing behind him so quickly that he wonders for a second if she has vampire speed.
When he turns around, she's staring up at him. And for a moment all he can do is stand there mesmerized. The way Bonnie looks at him, sometimes it a little hard to bear. He's seen it many times before, whether she's knowingly doing it or whether he catches her before she even realizes it. She looks at him like he's everything. Like she was drowning and he was like coming up for fresh air. And then he wondered how he got so luck to deserve that look.
But when another flash appears of her laying limp in his arms, from all the blood that's been drained, he backs away from her. And she's standing even closer, grabbing his hand and placing it on her chest. He's feeling the beat of her heart instantly.
"You hear that?"
He nods.
"I'm not going anywhere. You touching me…. being close to me, won't break me. It won't break us, but make us stronger. I don't know what the future holds. I know we're both going to continue making mistakes and do things that we're both not going to like, but as cliché' as it sounds, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else."
And then she's cupping his face in her hands and kissing his lips lightly. And before he knows it, he's deepening the kiss and picking her up, wrapping her legs around his waist.
"I don't want you risking your life anymore." He's now resting his forehead against hers. "I need you to be honest with me. With everything we've been through, I deserve to know things. We're a team." He didn't care that he probably sounded like Stefan right now.
She smiled and kissed his forehead. "Team Bonnie and Damon."
He's pleased with their outcome. Yes, they both have flaws. No, they're both not perfect, but that's what makes them. Now, will he allow a repeat of the other night to happen again? Hell no. Whether she liked it or not, he would do everything possible to keep her safe, no matter what the outcome led too.
When his lips are on hers again, someone decided to choose that exact moment to knock on the door, causing them to pull apart. He's already thinking of ways to kill whoever is on the other side.
"It's Lucy." Bonnie confirmed, trying to get down, but he wasn't planning on letting her out of his arms. "We agreed to have lunch and catch up before she leaves tonight."
He could have sworn that wasn't what he asked Lucy to come down here for. After she left last night, she could have went back home. She could have gone home last night after she left.
"I could use some food." He invited himself, because he didn't really want to let Bonnie out of his sight.
"I'll bring you back something." She smiled and kissed his lips. "And then when I do get back we can talk about where my phone is and why you smelled like women's perfume last night."
He can't help but let his stare linger on her as she walks towards the door.
It was 2:30 in the morning when Bonnie stood out of Damon's car to stretch her legs. After her late lunch with Lucy, she and Damon got on the road, headed to a location that he wouldn't let her in on.
It had been at least six hours, and since they decided to drive the whole way without stopping in a motel to rest up, she needed a moment to stretch. If she hadn't been a witch and Damon hadn't been a vampire, wherever they were would be the last place she would ever stop. It looked like some desert road out of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But, she was sure they could give leather face a run for its money.
Damon informed her that the original plan was to go to New Orleans, but apparently while she was unconscious, she would magically stop Damon's car from entering the city. She didn't blame him for not taking any more chances, but she was definitely confused as to why that happened. But, since she wasn't trying to get herself into anymore drama, they decided to leave Louisiana and embark on a mini road trip vacation. Even though Damon was keeping his mouth closed about where they were going.
But, with all that being said, she was glad that she was able to spend a good portion of the day with Lucy. She definitely enjoyed spending time with her cousin and learning about her life. Lucy had even informed her about some more Bennett history that definitely surprised Bonnie. The biggest one being that the very first witch in existence was of the Bennett bloodline. She made a mental note that the first thing she would do when she got back in Mystic Falls would be too brush up on all of her family history. There was no point in learning magic if she didn't take the time to learn how all of her family accessed it, and especially the first witch to use it.
Another thing she would do when she got back would be to check on Caroline. Damon informed her that Stefan got in touch with him to let them know that her plan had worked. Bonnie was glad and as much as she wanted to talk to her to see how she was doing, she opted to give her space. Plus, Damon decided to purposefully leave her phone in Mystic Falls, and even though she could use her magic to take his, she decided not to. They were out of the town for a reason and if anything important happened, Stefan would contact them.
Also, Damon took it upon himself to make sure Bonnie could take her classes online until she got back to Whitmore, so it was safe to say she had no idea when she would be stepping back into Virginia.
"So, are you going to tell me where we're going now?" She asked, stretching her arms above her head, as he stood in front of her.
"Asking me a hundred times isn't going to make me tell you."
"That's why I'm asking you one hundred and one times."
He smirked and pulled her into him. "There's a motel in the next two exits, we can stop there and then continue in the morning."
"How much longer do we have until our destination?"
"Two hours give or take."
"Then I don't mind if we continue." She said, resting her leg on his shoulder and leaning forward. "You should let me drive though."
"Ha." He moved her leg down to come right across his waist. "Over my dead body."
"Good thing you're already dead." She couldn't help the fact that her voice came out a little too seductive than expected. "Plus, you let me drive before."
"Not at two in the morning where you could fall asleep and wreck my car."
"No one's going to wreck your precious car."
"You know she can hear your sarcasm."
He leaned into her, and she could feel the hard rigidness of his dick pressed against her.
"I learn from the best."
His lips captured hers and she cupped his face, pulling him in. The need she had for him was consuming every bit of her and she wanted him outside and against his car.
Anyone would probably say that it was a bit uncharacteristic for her to make their first official time together on the side of the road, but she and Damon had something so special between them, that she honestly didn't care where their location was. She was hungry for him and she knew the feeling was mutual.
Her sweatpants had been removed, and when she all but used her magic to drop his pants, their eyes connected giving them all the silent communication of agreement they needed, before he thrust himself inside of her.
A/N: Thank you for reading & I hoped you enjoy! In this chapter, I wanted to capture where Bonnie was coming from and where Damon's head was at. I loved adding Lucy, and honestly, I would love to see her back on the show.
I won't be updating the next chapter until after the show comes back on, but we're not done with their roadtrip. Also, even though Damon is a bit better with Bonnie being awake, he's still going to be going through some things.
And I do plan on going into Bonnie's family history and the first witch in existence who was a vessel for nature like Bonnie is, and it goes beyond that of Qetsiyah
Again, I hope you all enjoyed! Please review =)
