A/n: As always thank you all so much for your support so far. I appreciate each and every one of you. This chapter will follow aspects of 6x21 & is a part i of ii. Just to keep everyone up to speed, this is still following the season 6 storyline, just with my own spin to it. Hopefully you all enjoy!

Essentially, the plan was to have a cross country road trip. It was supposed to be Bonnie experiencing new places and new things. It was supposed to be Damon experiencing places he had already been, but with her. He wanted to see the look on her face as she took in his interests and found new interests of her own.

That whole plan was thrown out of the window though, because after a month of being away from Mystic Falls, the only two places they had visited were a ranch in Montana and a lighthouse in Maine. Oh, and let's not forget the three days they stayed outside of New Orleans; not actually able to enter the city because Bonnie's magic wasn't having it. When they found out that the French Quarter was going through some crazy shit, he was actually glad they weren't allowed entrance. That's all he needed was Bonnie to die when he was trying to get her out of harm's way. He just hadn't expected for her to want to lay down roots each place that entered.

Granted, Maine was one of his favorite places. Bonnie was the only person on this earth who knew and had visited the land he owned here. Montana; well, he didn't necessarily dislike the place, but it wasn't somewhere he wanted to stay at for as long as he did. Even if he did enjoy some of the people. But, hell, he'd rather be anywhere instead of returning back to Mystic Falls. Just thinking about it was leaving him in a pissy mood. Why did Alaric and his baby mama have to move up the wedding to the end of the week? And because Bonnie wanted to help out, they were unfortunately going back tomorrow.

This was all just stupid.

Whether Alaric and Jo got married now or when they were 80…which they were somewhat getting to that age, it wouldn't matter. Damon knew he was just being selfish and wanted to keep Bonnie all to himself, because he was absolutely sure that as soon as they drove into Mystic Falls, Blondie would be waiting on her at the door, and he probably wouldn't see his girlfriend until the wedding.

And Damon Salvatore did not like to share.

The wind picking up a little brought him back to the present, and he continued to focus on her as he stood several feet behind her. She had been sitting on the grass; her attention towards the blue luminous water, for about an hour. However, he knew she wasn't necessarily staring at the waves and taking in the serenity. She was concentrating on something else. Bonnie Bennett was focusing on her magic. Since she was finally able to fully reconnect with nature again, Damon allowed her to get back into practicing. Even though she swears he couldn't allow her to do anything and that telling her what she could and couldn't do wasn't how their relationship was going to work. Whatever. He still felt like he had a lot of say in it. That was his logic and he was sticking to it.

He had every intention of joining her, but as soon as his feet had the idea to move, they stopped abruptly. Something went through him and it almost robbed him of breath. In that moment, he knew that she was allowing him to feel her magic. Yes, they've shared energy multiple times before, but this was something else. This instantly made his fangs lengthen and the veins form around his eyes, and he wasn't even touching her. He could feel nature. He could feel how it made her feel. And it was intoxicating. It was like being trapped in a state of ecstasy that you didn't dare try to get out of. It was like tasting ambrosia on your tongue as it probed and fought for dominance. Her magic was surging through him at a rapid pace, and for a moment he could have sworn he saw electricity leave his fingertips.

He was thankful they had this area to themselves, because he wouldn't be able to explain the scene in front of him. The wind was circling her as if a tornado was about to form; yet this was protecting her. It was her.

And he could feel it all.

Damon, do you feel that?

His eyes jumped opened, and he hadn't even recognized they'd been closed.

"Yeah, I feel it."

He realized when he answered her that she wasn't speaking out loud, but in his mind.

Neat trick, do we get the pleasure of doing this all the time?

I don't know… I don't think so. Only when we're linked. When we're doing this.

Interesting. How does it feel? You being connected again?

You tell me.

Hell, this was some top notch quality shit right here. He felt weightless. He felt beyond his vampire abilities. Immortal, even. And then he felt…

Damon jerked a little as all of those feelings amplified. He was surprised he could still stand up straight from the sheer pleasure that gushed through his body. His dick instantly got hard at the feel of Bonnie's soft hand encircling his shaft. His eyes opened of their own accord, and saw ahead of him that Bonnie had never left her spot in the grass.

"How…?" He couldn't even finish his sentence or form a thought when he felt her mouth on him.

He at least moaned her name twice before she stopped.

Who knew I could please you without touching you.

Damon was rendered speechless.

So, I'm thinking about selling my dad's house. Since I'll either be at the dorms, grams, or yours, I figured I don't need….

Was she serious right now? She was still holding the connection, making his fucking toes curl, and she wanted to talk about something that didn't matter. He really wondered if she thought he could fathom anything at this point.

Do you really think we should talk about this now?

Her giggles were like sweet music to his ears. And when her arousal hit him in the nose, he sped towards her, picked her up bridal style, and took them to their bed.

Damon stayed between Bonnie's legs until they left the next day.

Just as he predicted, Blondie was sitting on Bonnie's dad's front porch when they pulled up. Damon inwardly groaned and rolled his eyes.

"I knew I should have just taken you back to the boarding house."

Bonnie gave him a soft smile. "Don't start. I told you right before we left that Caroline wanted to see me and hang out. I've missed her."

"Yeah, well, whatever." He shouldn't have let her use his phone.

"I know you're pretty much tired of me anyway."

"Not possible," He pulled her in and took hold of her lips. "Come stay with me tonight."

So, what if he found himself a little clingy to Bonnie? What if he wanted to be around her all the time and that spell she did last night made it a little difficult to stay away? She knew how he was and what she was getting herself into. And maybe it also had a little to do with the fact that he hadn't been away from her since she almost died and he brought her out of Mystic Falls.

"I know you miss Stefan…" Damon rolled his eyes. "And Alaric…"

"I miss you more."

She laughed and kissed him on the forehead. "I'm getting out now."

But when his fingers intertwined with hers, she stopped and caught his eyes; eyes that she could drown in if she stared too long. She understood why he was stalling as soon as he did that.

"Damon, I'm going to be…"

"One minute." He cut her off, as his forehead touched hers. This was just something to add onto the list of why she loved Damon Salvatore. If he witnessed two other people performing the same actions as he was doing now, he would probably make fun of them. Actually, he had before. But when it came to them, it was a whole different story. This was Damon; being raw and open… being vulnerable. A trait he only showed with her.

When the minute was over, Bonnie waved a hand in front of her face, and the long hair she was sporting in Maine, turned back into her regular short bob, she had before she left Mystic Falls.

"It's not too late to save me from being alone tonight."

"Bye, Damon." She said, getting out of the car and putting her bag around her shoulder.

As soon as he drove off, Bonnie turned back towards the house, took a deep breath and almost sprinted up towards Caroline. She knew her best friend was a little shocked when Bonnie pulled her into a hug.

"I missed you."

"Really?" Caroline held her tight; tears forming in her eyes.

"Of course, why wouldn't I?"

"Because of what I did. What I said to you. What you had to do. Stefan told me you almost died because of it."

Bonnie cupped her best friend's face. "Almost, but didn't. And if it makes you feel better, I kind of got a little power hungry which was the main reason I almost died." She then wiped Caroline's tears. "Now, let's go inside and tell me what's been going on while I've been away."

"Only if you tell me about your trip first."

"Deal."

"She did what!" Damon practically shouted at his brother, only an hour after he returned back into Mystic death. He just knew the moment he stepped back into this place; they would be sucked back up into the same crap.

"Keep it down, she's upstairs sleeping." Stefan said, taking a sip of his scotch.

Damon's eyes widened a little. "Why is she here? Let me guess, Kai is asleep upstairs with her, too? Is that what you're about to tell me now?"

Stefan rolled his eyes at his dramatics and handed his brother a glass of Bourbon, to which the older vampire took the bottle instead.

"You should have said something to me while I was away…"

"Why? When you specifically told me to save all of the supernatural talk until you got back. That's what I was doing."

"So, just explain this to me again. Elena's human? Kai had a cure and just gave it to her? Without any repercussions?" To Damon, that just didn't sound right. The sociopath always had something up his sleeve, so for Elena and Stefan to put trust in him was a stupid move. "And you just let her do this?"

"I didn't let her do anything. Elena is a grown woman who made this decision for herself. I only found out about it after the fact, and so far it's been over two weeks with no problems. Kai hasn't even shown up anymore. He told her he felt guilty about something or another and tried to make peace."

Damon rolled his eyes. "And how did he find a cure in the first place? The only cure in existence was being drained out of Katherine by your annoying doppelganger."

"He said he found it in the prison world and was holding onto it for a rainy day. I don't really see what the problem is. Elena's human now… it's what she's always wanted."

But, this wasn't necessarily about Elena, Damon thought. Kai had to have ulterior motives. He didn't care if he merged with a nicer sibling, he was still Kai.

"And so after all of that, he just left? Vanished? How do you know he's not just going to use her and take advantage of the situation? I mean, did she even think about this at all?"

"Yes, I did…"

They both turned towards the stairs to see Elena walking down. If Damon thought they were lying to him, he knew he would have been mistaken the moment Elena descended down his stairs. He could smell the humanity on her.

His eyes bored into hers as he took another drink.

"You're back." Her voice was soft; her eyes a little puffy. Damon could tell that she had been crying.

"Can we talk?" she asked.

He watched as her eyes left his to look at Stefan's, hoping he would get the picture. Honestly, he didn't care if his brother stayed or not.

"I guess that's my cue. When you're done, Damon, you have to finish telling me about yours and Bonnie's trip."

Damon heard the emphasis on his girlfriend's name. Stefan didn't want him to make any Damon like mistakes, because it wasn't a secret how he used to be when it came to Elena. But, Damon loved Bonnie, so he could assure anyone and everyone that nothing would happen.

"Will do, brother."

Stefan then left Damon and Elena standing across from each other… alone.

"Wait… she did what?" Bonnie asked, putting down the slice of pizza she was about annihilate.

"Kai gave her the cure and now she's human." Caroline shrugged and took a big chunk out of her slice. It didn't seem to faze her.

"Sociopath, Kai? The one who killed most of his family and his brother to have more power? The one who almost killed me in the prison world? He helped her?" Bonnie just couldn't believe that. "And she was just okay with it? You all were just okay?"

"I didn't know about it until a day later… neither did Stefan. No one knew. But, she seems happy about it. And I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but Elena wasn't cut out to be a vampire. We all knew that."

That was true, but that didn't mean she should have put her trust in Kai. There was only supposed to be one cure, and Silas chucked that up to pieces. Caroline explained that he grabbed a duplicate from the prison world and he had been holding onto it, until he began to feel guilty about something, and wanted to take on a new leaf.

I heard that when you confide in someone, you instantly feel a breath of relief.

Bonnie jumped a little as Kai's voice entered her thoughts. She shook her head, trying not to think of her previous dreams, because it had been awhile since she had them.

"Are you okay?" Caroline asked, looking worried.

"Yeah, just a small headache." She lied. "I just hope Kai doesn't try to use it against her. He's unstable."

"Well, so far there haven't been any more sightings of him. I think he's just trying to make amends."

Bonnie didn't buy any of it, but she'd leave it alone for now.

Through the rest of the night, they ended up laying flat on their back on the floor, and looking up at the ceiling.

"I can't believe you're going to sell this place."

Bonnie took a breath, "Yeah. I think it's time. I'm going to keep Gram's house though, even though Damon insist I move in with him; forgetting that I also have the dorm back at Whitmore."

"Well you know when Damon gets his mind on something…"

"It's most likely going to happen." She finished her sentence.

"Can you believe we're here right now? You're like this powerful witch, I'm a vampire, and we're both dating vampire brothers who use to be involved with our best friend. I would have never guessed this to happen in a million years."

Bonnie wouldn't have either.

"So, what is going on with you and Stefan?" she inquired.

"We're taking things slow and I think it's for the best. I usually rush into things and they don't usually work out. I really care for Stefan… I love him and I don't want to rush this. I'm still healing from my mom, and I just don't want to use him to make me feel better. That's not fair to him."

Bonnie squeezed her hand. "I understand. And knowing Stefan, he'll wait forever if he has too."

"And you and Damon. Is this the real thing? I mean I know he kidnapped you to a month traveling session, and I'm absolutely positive you two have done the do, because I can smell him all over you like he let off a bonded scent or something, but is he what you truly want?"

Bonnie's cheek reddened. Ever since they started having sex that night on the side of the road, they had been having it every single day. And it was always just this intense moment of coming together that left Bonnie breathless. Actually, right before they reentered Mystic Falls, they got busy and her cheeks flushed just thinking about the way Damon said her name.

"It is… the real thing. As much as I tried denying it…as much as I was trying to be respectful, it just happened. He's my person…for a lack of a better term."

"I thought I was your person." Caroline huffed.

"Of course you are, but I can have more than one. You're practically my sister, Care, no one can compare."

"Ditto, sista."

They both laughed.

"So, you know I'm going to ask."

"Go ahead." Bonnie was already prepared for the big elephant in the room.

"Do you think you and Elena will ever be friends again?" They looked at each other. "I know that everything happened the way it did. I know words were said, but I just wish…I wish we could all put it behind us. You know? Start fresh. We've all been friends for so long."

"And trust me when I say that I do miss Elena. And I understand that she's hurt. I understand that it feels like betrayal, and shoot it honestly is. But, the things she's said, it almost feels like we were never friends in the first place. I mean, I'm not the only one who's dated her ex boyfriend." She paused. "I don't expect her to be okay with it. I don't even want her forgiveness, but I'd like to have her respect. I'd like for us to make an effort to get passed it. Life is too short, and I know you're all vampires so you have the long life expectancy thing, but even you all can be killed." Bonnie didn't expect for tears to form in her eyes. "I'm able to look past some things… I'm able to work on it if she wants, but it's up to her. But anymore disrespect and I'm done. I'll cut ties."

"Understandable." They were quiet for awhile as Caroline grabbed onto her hand. "Now tell me again how Damon kept falling in horse manure, and please tell me you took pictures.

She was in the Mystic Falls graveyard again, but this time it wasn't as blurry as it always had been. Her eyes found the tombstone in front of her, and once again she saw Sheriff Forbes's name written across it.

When she heard voices, she walked towards the direction, and noticed Kai standing in front herself. This was new; usually Kai would be standing in front of her, not a carbon copy. Or, whatever the hell it was. She still didn't even know what was going on.

"Have I ever told you how stunning you truly are?"

"Cut the shit. What are you doing in my head?"

"To talk to you of course-" Bonnie continued to look between herself and Kai like she was watching a movie play out in front of her. "I feel the need to tell someone in hopes that it'll make my conscious clear; in hopes that I won't feel this gaping pain in my chest… this sadness- so, anyways, onto my story- I was thinking about how I could slit my father's throat for putting me in a prison world-vampire comes out of nowhere-"

Bonnie still watched herself and Kai, but the voices were going in and out.

"Then sirens appeared. Can you say cock block- I walk to her- stand behind her."

Bonnie couldn't hear anything else before she was positioned right back in front of Liz's tombstone and another one appeared beside it.

Josette Laughlin. It read.

Wait, Jo? Before Bonnie could understand anything, she was now standing in a barn with people lying all over the ground, some bleeding out and some dead.

Kai was looking right at her, and before she could do anything, she was being lifted off the ground and thrown back until she connected with the wall. The wind knocked out of her, and she could feel her insides collapsing. Everything felt so real. Was this real? Was she about to die?

As soon as she blinked her eyes back open, Damon was kneeling down in front of her.

"Damon…" Her voice sound weak even to her own ears. "Damon…."

"You heal her and Elena dies." Kai's voice filled the air. "And I know you don't want that. Even if you and witchybear have been playing house. You choose Salvatore. Bonnie or Elena."

The look Bonnie gave Damon could have gone in the books after he kissed her forehead and walked away from him. He was leaving her alone. Again. He was choosing Elena over her. But, what could she really expect. What he and Elena had, surpassed what he was doing with her. She should have never allowed any more than a friendship, because maybe it wouldn't have hurt so badly.

She was going to die. And Damon was going to let her.

Bonnie shot up so rapidly from bed, she almost fell out. She noticed that all the items in her room, including the bed that she and Caroline were on, were floating. When she lowered everything back down, she was surprised yet grateful that Caroline hadn't woken up.

Looking at the clock and noticing that it was four in the morning, she made it up in her mind that she was definitely not going back to sleep. Probably ever, if she had her way. Whatever type of nightmare she just experienced was too much. Her body actually ached at how real it felt. Her mind was racing all over the place, and she had to wonder if this was some type premonition. Or, if this was a sign telling her that at the end of the day, Damon would always be in love and choose Elena. Were they just kidding each other and so wrapped up in the idea of being with someone new? Was this just she and Damon fighting years of sexual tension?

Bonnie couldn't help but ask all of those questions, as she bolted outside to get some fresh air. Her throat felt like it was tightening, and breathing was almost becoming a little unbearable.

She could definitely say that right now, she missed being in Montana and Maine. Everything just seemed so refreshing and stable there. They didn't really have any worries, and now, here they were, back in Mystic Falls, experiencing dreams that could have very well ended her life.

When Bonnie finally decided to lean back, she knew she would be running into his chest. His arms wrapped protectively around her waist, and for a moment, all she could do was close her eyes and sink into him. Damon showing up instantly brought her a feeling of calmness she so desperately needed.

"It hasn't even been a full twenty four hours and I can't stay away from you."

That brought a small smile to her lips. "How did you know I'd be up?"

"I didn't. But I was going to wake you either way. You know how I get when I'm lonely."

The image of Damon leaving her to die to help Elena popped in her mind, causing her to tense up move from her embrace.

She met confused eyes as soon as she looked at him.

"Another bad dream?"

She nodded. "Worse." She told him all about it and watched as he stiffened. "Everything felt so real, Damon."

"Well, we know it's not, because I would never let you die."

It should have made her feel better to hear that, but because she was the person that she was, she didn't want Elena to die either.

"I think this dream came to you after I told you about how Elena and I talked earlier. It bugs you doesn't it? Even though I told you that you have nothing to worry about."

For a moment she wanted to say she forgot about how Damon called her earlier, letting her know about the conversation he had with Elena, but that was damn near impossible.

"It shouldn't bug me. I have no right for it to bug me. I trust you. I love you. And I know you love me."

"But...?"

"But you still have feelings for her. You still love her." She kept talking before he could say anything, and she knew he was getting upset. "And before you say anything, don't for one second think that I don't understand. You and Elena have history. What we have started suddenly. I don't for one blame you. I don't even think it changes your feelings for me, but…"

"I knew we should have never left." He snapped. "I knew it was too early to come back here. Now you're having doubts about us and my feelings for you. That's a slap in the face." He pulled her to him, his hands gripping onto her waist rather tightly. "I love you. Only you. Stop trying to make me sort out some emotional bullshit that's not even there."

And the fact that he was getting a little too upset, just proved to her everything.

"I know you do, Damon. And I don't want to argue with you, but that's like me saying that I still don't have love for Jeremy." He let her go then, but she continued talking anyway. "I'm not in love with him, but I still care about him. I still wish him well. We've all been through so much, just like Caroline will always have a special place for Tyler and Matt even though she's in love with Stefan."

"So, you're comparing what I and Elena had to what you and Jeremy were doing? You weren't even interested in him like that. So, stop being insecure in thinking that I still have feelings for her."

The next possible thing to do was to blow up at him. To get mad and use her magic, but she didn't. The honeymoon was definitely over and she definitely felt sure about it now.

"I'm not going to fight with you or talk about our exes anymore. Like I said, I love you. I know you love me, but I'm still feeling the effects from the dream. So, just go."

His eyes bored into hers for a so long, Bonnie thought she might break in half. And no sooner as she blinked, he was gone.

She took a deep breath. Yeah, maybe they should have just said fuck the wedding and extended their trip.

It was the day of the wedding and Bonnie had to admit that she was excited. She loved weddings. Even though this was technically her first official one, she had been a sucker for several wedding shows. She was just glad that Jo wasn't a bridezilla. That term was more so reserved for Caroline, who if she didn't know any better, was the one prepared to walk down the aisle instead. She was accustomed to her best friend being over the top when it came to any type of event. But, weddings… weddings seemed to be the most crucial when it came to her bossy side.

Bonnie was glad when Caroline suggested she go with Matt to pick up the centerpieces that were left at the Salvatore boardinghouse. Elena offered to go as well, to get out of Caroline's clutches, but Jo wanted her to stay and calm her down when she got nervous again.

Bonnie was actually somewhat ready for the wedding to be over so they could talk. The day after she got back, after her little argument with Damon, Elena sent her a text randomly during the day, asking how she was. It was nothing but light conversation, even though they knew a certain topic would have to be brought up soon. And last night after Jo's bachelorette party, Elena pulled Bonnie aside and asked if they could sit down and talk after the wedding. Bonnie agreed, and thought it was probably for the best to wait until after the wedding. They may have been in the cordial stage with one another now, but anything was subject to change. They could both act like loose cannons if pushed.

Speaking of loose cannons, Bonnie wasn't going to say that Damon had been avoiding her through the remainder of the week, because he had been sending her text messages here and there, but they hadn't really laid eyes on one another. She would admit that she felt a little hollow because of it, but if she weren't packing up her father's house, then she was helping Caroline plan the wedding. She was staying busy, which was good.

There were a couple nights, like last night, when she'd wake up suddenly and could feel his presence. She knew he had been there… watching her sleep. With anyone else, she would have found it creepy, and she would probably question her sanity later with why she didn't now. But, at the end of the day, it was Damon. That should have been all the explanation she needed.

"I'm glad you came with me, Bons. If I did this by myself, it would just be a Donovan screw up waiting to happen. And plus, I'm still a little hung-over."

Bonnie laughed, "Yeah, I heard you got completely wasted last night."

"Wasted is putting it mildly." As they were putting things in the car, he said, "So, this thing with you and Damon is really real isn't it?"

"The realliest real thing ever." Okay, she couldn't believe she just said that, but Matt's snorting laughter made her forget everything else.

"Well, there goes my fantasy."

Bonnie gave him a look, wondering what he meant.

"I figured that if we both continued to be let down in the relationship department, then down the road I'd be your fall back plan, and we'd marry each other."

Bonnie smiled, and put down the last box in his truck. "Who says you'd be a fall back plan? I figured if we were both still single in the future, I'd run into you on the subway in New York, because you'd either be some law enforcer or own a big corporate chain of bars, whatever, and we'd see each other again and hit it off. We'd get married, have kids…forget about all the supernatural crap, even though I'd still be a witch, but hey I think that's a better outlook then you ever being a fall back. You're better than that, Matt."

His smile mirrored her own.

Now, back to reality. "But Damon would never allow that."

"Nope." She shrugged. "He'd probably kill us both."

"He'd torture me first."

Before Bonnie could say anything else, something slammed into her mind, causing her to scream and double over. She barely heard Matt say her name.

She was back in the grave yard again. Damnit, she really thought this was over.

She was back to watching herself and Kai face off with each other as he told her the same crap over again. And yet after the part she usually couldn't hear, came in loud and clear this time."

"Anyway, guess who walks out of the Police car."

Kai said, but herself didn't answer.

"Not gonna guess? Okay, fine. Sherriff Forbes walks out. I guess she doesn't recognize me because she was actually telling me to come over slowly. - I walk up to her- I stand behind her. She never saw me putting my hands around her neck and twisting it until I felt her bones crack beneath my fingertips. - I actually felt awful- I don't remember the last time I cried. So, anyways, I cast a little spell to make it look like a robbery happened at one of the convenient stores in town."

"I'm going to kill you." She heard herself say.

"You won't. I'm surprised you're not wondering why I'm telling you this- You won't remember any of this. – Can't have you and your little friends trying to torture me. – I could kill them without batting an eye." He kissed her cheek. "I'll be seeing you, Bonnie."

Bonnie's eyes shot open, and stared shockingly into Matt's. It wasn't a dream. It actually happened. Kai was able to get inside of her head and trick her.

"Bonnie, what happened, are you okay?"

Bonnie searched Matt's frantic eyes. "Matt, we have to go, we have to…."

Matt's neck snapped and he fell to the ground in a loud thud, before Bonnie could finish her sentence.

What? No! "Matt!" Bonnie was about to bend down to him, but her throat felt like it was closing and she couldn't breathe. She couldn't even form a thought to get her magic together. She felt a pain against her wrists, and as soon as she was about to fall, she landed in someone's arms.

Her eyes connected with Kai's.

"You weren't supposed to remember any of this. This is all your fault… I hope you know that."

Everything went black a few seconds later.

"Damon, where's your girlfriend, she was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago, after she went with Matt to pick up the rest of the centerpieces? The wedding is about to start."

A shred of panic seeped its way into Damon. Bonnie hadn't responded to any of his texts, but he just assumed that she couldn't get to her phone because of Caroline's obsessive neurotic self.

"She's not with you?"

"No. I sent her and Matt to your house an hour ago to get the centerpieces. What are you not understanding?"

Damon almost snapped her neck, but turned around instead, preparing to go find Bonnie.

"NO!" Caroline's inhuman shriek stopped her. "You need to go stand up there, I'll keep trying her. It could just be car trouble. We'll just have to start without the centerpieces. They're for the reception anyways."

Having car trouble still didn't sit well with Damon. The last time there was car trouble with Bonnie involved, she was in a car wreck and almost died. He was just hoping that she was giving him the silent treatment, like he had been giving her, with just a few text messages here and there. He knew Bonnie had been right about their last conversation. There were still feelings there for Elena, but it wasn't like he wanted to be with her over Bonnie. He was madly in love with Bonnie, but he couldn't help but wonder if what he felt for Elena would ever go away. No matter how crazy their relationship had been. He should have just stayed that night and talked to Bonnie about it. She seemed understanding of it, but when she brought up the lesser of the Gilbert's name, it pissed him off and didn't want to make him think clearly. Jeremy was so insignificant to Bonnie's life that it made him upset that she admitted to still having love for him. But, then that was the pot calling the kettle black wasn't it?

Before he went to go join Ric at the altar, he rang Bonnie one more time, and almost broke his phone when he got her voicemail again.

"Hey, I'm guessing you're on your way. Caroline's probably about to hunt you down." Pause. "I almost broke her neck because she's being really crazy right now. But, I refrained… for you." Pause. "Even though it shouldn't take long to bring centerpieces; I could have gone with you instead of Mutt. Not that I think you'd run off with him." Okay, he wasn't making any sense. He was just so fucking worried, he couldn't think straight. "Look, I just wanted to say that I love you and I'm sorry. So…. hurry. I need to make sure you're okay."

After he took his place beside Ric, everything after that happened so fast, he didn't know if he were imagining it. Before Jo could say I Do, a dagger plunged through her abdomen, causing her to fall lifeless in Alaric's arms. Saying everyone was in shock was an understatement. Kai appeared out of nowhere and gave everyone in the room an aneurysm that probably killed all the humans in attendance. The last thing he remembered was being thrown through the glass windows of the barn.

Everything went dark after that.

A/N: Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. As I said before I'm still following some aspects of the show, but as you can tell, I'm changing it. In the next chapter there will be a Bonnie and Kai showdown. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the finale, and I loved the bamon scenes, but I was expecting more from Bonnie and Kai's fight. Also, in the next chapter you will get to read what Damon and Elena said to one another.

I know everyone is probably upset at how I had Damon admit that he still has love for Elena, but even though they were toxic, it wasn't going to be something that just went away. He still loves Bonnie and would choose and protect her to the fullest; he couldn't imagine his life without her, but what Bonnie said to Damon was pretty true. And I hope you guys can understand that.

Oh, and Bamon may be in love and happy, but of course my stories will have angst between them. Angst and love. Okay, so anywho, I hope you enjoyed. Please review =)
