Chapter 13

A/N: Since I can't send them a PM I want to give a special shout out to the two guest reviewers who left great reviews for this last chapter. Thank you for your kind words and observations, I took them into consideration for this chapter. There will be some questions answered this chapter but the whole truth of what is going on with Ash will come next chapter which unfortunately will be a few weeks away. Sorry but I hope you all enjoy and review.
The tower and the sandy beach had merged into one deformed mass of rubble. The finality of it had hit Ash as if the tower had fallen on him. All the innocent lives lost all because he wanted to vent his hate and rage at the world. He had wanted others to feel the hurt that he had all those years ago, the pain that death can bring, the sadness that never leaves you.
Why? Why had he wanted this? He had dealt with the ones who were responsible and had made them pay. Mr. Goodshow and Mewtwo had paid for their sins with their lives but what had the random innocents in the tower done to deserve such a fate? Was all his hate and anger to the ones who wronged him being directed toward the innocent simply because they were all that was left? Had he turned into nothing more than a destructive shell of his former self? Was this what Mewtwo had meant about feeling sorry for him?
"Argh!" Ash yelled as pain racked his whole body from his toes to the top of his head. He was already on his knees atop Yveltal but something was happening with his aura. All the conflict in his mind was manifesting its self, making his aura fluctuate wildly. Half of his body was still covered in black flames and a black bat wing was still on his back but the other side was blazing with white flames and the white angel wing had taken the black ones place. The two forces seemed to be battling with his body as the battlefield causing intense pain throughout all his nerves.
Needless to say, Yveltal didn't like what was going on at all. All the squirming was irritating but that white aura Ash was giving off actually burned the dark type's back where ever it touched. The last straw came when the white wing made full contact with Yveltal's back causing the Legendary to screech in agony and roll in midair to remove the pain.
With all the pain going through his body, Ash didn't notice he was falling till he hit the ground. Landing with his left arm against his stomach caused him to break his forearm and knock the wind out of himself in one painful motion. One plus from the loss of breath was it shocked him enough for him to open his eyes. Acting fast, Ash used his good arm to grab two pokeballs from his belt and released Pichu and Igglybuff.
Coming out of their pokeballs and seeing their dad in pain with two different color flames around him, scared the two babies but Ash was quick to get their attention. "Listen you two, its me Ash. I need you two to help me."
"Pi. Iggly." They both responded with a nervous nod.
"Good. Igglybuff, I need you to put me to sleep. What ever is going on with me is in my mind and I have to stop it. Can you do that for me?" Ash asked in a pained voice.
"Iggly." Igglybuff nodded in understanding.
'Okay, now Pichu I need you to protect Igglybuff and me while I'm sleeping. Can you do that?"
Puffing her chest in pride, Pichu nodded.
"Okay Igglybuff do your thing." Ash said as Pichu moved away so she wouldn't get caught in the sing attack. As Igglybuff began singing, Ash's breathing began to slow from the rapid, ragged breathing he had while he was awake. The pain faded somewhat from his face but the two auras were still fighting for dominance in his body. When she stopped singing, Ash was completely. Coming back to stand next to Igglybuff, Pichu took Igglybuff's hand in her own as the two stood and waited for their dad to awaken.
A few minutes earlier.
A flash of light appeared outside the Pokemon Center as six humans and two Pokemon appeared. The Alakazam and Mega Lucario appeared fine but had slightly worried as they looked at the humans behind them. Paul was the first of the group to speak. "Is everyone here? Are you all OK?"
"We are all present thanks to Sabrina's quick thinking. Thank you Sabri..." Cynthia stopped mid sentence as the other three girls ran off toward the tower.
"Wait!" Paul yelled but they were already gone. "Damn fools!"
"Lucar." Lucario said with a worried tone as he backed away from the direction of the tower.
"What is it old friend?" Gurkinn said while moving next to Lucario.
"Luc io Lucario Luc Lucario!" Lucario said in a panicked voice.
"What did it say?" Cynthia asked quickly.
"There's something strange about the aura of the man on top of Yveltal. What ever it is, it's disturbing Lucario badly." Gurkinn replied while looking in that direction.
"Well come on. The others are headed that way, we have to stop them!" Paul yelled as he took off in the direction the others went with Cynthia tailing behind him. While they went off toward the tower, Gurkinn and Lucario went inside the Pokemon Center to make a call.
Running as fast as he could Paul came upon the overlook next to the beach that faced where the tower used to stand. Misty, Sabrina and Lily were all standing there but they were looking up into the sky. Following their eyes, Paul spotted what they were looking at. The large red and black bird Pokemon that Gurkinn had called Yveltal was still hovering in the same spot it was when it destroyed the tower but the man on top seemed to be having some kind of fit. "Sabrina, who is that man on that giant bird and what is wrong with him?" Paul asked as he continued to watch the strange bird and the man.
Sabrina was silent for a few moments as she continued to stare skyward. She knew who it was but after what had just happened she didn't want to say. By saying it aloud that would make it true and she desperately wanted to be wrong about who the man was that had committed that terrible atrocity.
"Sabrina! Who is that man?!" Paul yelled out of frustration. He hated being ignored on a normal day but the seriousness of the situation just made it that much worse.
"I.. It's." Sabrina stuttered but stopped as she saw Yveltal roll in mid air and the man on it's back begin plummeting toward the ground.
'Oh my Arceus!" The girls screamed as the man who was covered in white and black flames fell from the sky. The wings on his back did nothing to slow him as he hit the sand with a loud crack.
"Is that?" Paul asked but everyone was already running toward the stairs that lead down to the beach.
Hall of Origin
Poke speech translated
"How can you just sit there and do nothing after what he just did?!"
"What would you have Lord Arceus do? What would you have any of us do, Mew?" Celebi asked calmly while looking harshly at the pink feline. Arceus, Giratina, Mew and Celebi were all gathered in the Hall of Origin watching the events in Reflection Cave and at Shalour City unfold.
"Something! Anything! A human just killed Mewtwo, a Legendary, and you guys are just sitting here not doing anything about it!" Mew cried out in a feminine voice.
'His name is Ash! You should know that since he saved most of our lives before, including yours you whiny little shit!" Giratina growled out in a deep, low voice.
"I know who he is and what he's done but that doesn't give him the right to do what he pleases. We have to stop him before he causes anymore problems." Mew said while glaring daggers at the ghost dragon.
"The problem isn't what he is doing, it's why he is doing it. He is still grieving for his mother and Pikachu and he blames us for their deaths." Celebi said in a serious tone while glancing at Arceus, who had been silent through out the entire conversation. "Until he lets go of this anger he will continue to destroy everything."
"Well why don't we eliminate the reason for his anger. That way he doesn't become this way in the first place." Mew suggested simply.
"And how do you propose we do that? Even Lord Arceus himself can't bring people and Pokemon back from the dead." Giratina said smugly to the smaller legendary.
"It's simple. All we have to do is have Celebi turn back time and prevent Pikachu and his mother's death and Ash will never become this monster he is now."
Shaking his head in disbelief, Giratina chuckled. "You can't be serious? That is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard."
"Well I didn't hear you coming up with any, you great dingbat!" Mew snapped at Giratina.
"Actually, I agree with Giratina on this one." Celebi broke in before the argument got out of hand. "Time travel won't solve this problem. Even if we did change the past, that would only make an alternate time line and leave this one the same. It's true that there would be a happy Ash in another time line where he still has his mother and Pikachu but this Ash would be the same as he is now."
"So what can we do?" Mew said in a small voice.
"For now we wait and let events unfold as the may." Arceus spoke for the first time in his deep, commanding voice. "It would seem that Ash is having a conflict of conscience at the moment and we will have to wait and see what side of him comes out the victor."
"Yes my lord." The three Legendaries answered calmly.
"Pi Pichu!" The little mouse yelled as sparks flew from it's cheeks at the strangers trying to approach her dad.
"Easy now, we mean no harm. We just want to check to see if he is okay. Alright?" Cynthia said as her and the other girls approached cautiously. Unfortunately, Paul's patience had worn thin after all that had happened today and he released his Weavile.
"Weavile, Slash attack!" Paul yelled while pointing at Pichu. Pichu saw it coming and used a Shockwave attack that stooped Weavile in it's tracks.
"Paul stop! Force is not the answer. Obviously those two are protecting him and don't want him harmed so we have to use a different approach." Cynthia said commandingly toward Paul.
"No! This is my chance to catch him and I won't let it slip through my fingers! Aggron stand by for battle! Both of you take care of that Pichu and Igglybuff now!" Paul yelled with anger on his face. He had to get Ash, no matter what.
As Weavile and Aggron began to charge, Igglybuff rushed up next to Pichu and took her hand. The two Pokemon smiled at each other and both began to glow with a bright light. After a moment the light faded and a Pikachu and Jigglypuff were standing in their place. "Pika Pi Pikachu." The new Pikachu said to Jigglypuff and took off toward the charging Pokemon. While Pikachu was doing that, Jigglypuff ran back to her dad and seeing that he hadn't changed she grabbed two pokeballs from his belt and released the contents. Out came Ash's Steelix and Tyranitar, both roared loudly ready for battle and seeing Pikachu dodging attacks from two enemies the two giants lunged forward into the battle.
Slap! A large hand shaped red mark appeared on Paul's face. Paul tried to put his hand up to feel his cheek but was stopped by a blue glow that enveloped his whole body. "What the hell?! Let me go Sabrina!" He yelled while trying and failing to break the hold Sabrina's Alakazam had on his body.
"No." Sabrina said as she walked up to the frozen Paul and grabbed the two empty pokeballs on his belt and returned Aggron and Weavile. "We have listened to you and Lance's violent orders long enough. Now we do things our way. Come on girls."
Nodding the other girls headed to where Ash's Pokemon were standing guard around him. "Pika!" Pikachu yelled as they approached. Tyranitar and Steelix growled in warning and Jigglypuff stood between the women and Ash.
"Please, we just want to see him. No harm will come to him I promise." Sabrina said in a soothing voice.
"Please let us see him. Please." Lily said as tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Ash's body. She could tell it was him without a doubt. The black hair, the jacket he had from the champion battle, and those strange flames surrounding him were all familiar.
Pikachu looked between the women and saw the concern in all their eyes and even some tears. Deciding that they truly wanted to see him, Pikachu stepped aside to let them pass but was watching them carefully.
"Thank you, thank you so much." Lily said with tears going down her face as she quickly walked to where Ash was laying on the beach. The other girls followed, eager to see him, while Paul stayed in Alakazam's hold twenty feet away.
The man was standing on the porch of his house, something he had been doing a lot ever since the boy had left. At first having no "project" to work on everyday had been relaxing and enjoyable but after a time it had become boring and tedious. There wasn't a lot to do out here except train yourself and your Pokemon and he was beginning to think that it would be better if he and the wife moved back to the Five Regions.
Then the news had started coming about what the boy was up to. At first he had enjoyed hearing that the boy was cleaning up the streets but that feeling had turned to dread when he heard about Mr. Goodshow's death. He had known that the boy was still angry but had hoped that he wouldn't give in to that anger and lash out. It wouldn't be the last time he would be wrong unfortunately.
After that there wasn't any news on the boy at all. Even with all the resources at his disposal, the man couldn't find where the boy had gone and that worried him more than hearing the bad news.
"Pidgey!" A small bird yelled as it landed on the hand rail of the porch with a brown bag on it's back. Taking the letter from the bird, the man opened it and began reading what it said.
"Red dear, was that the messenger Pidgey?" A voice from the house yelled.
Finishing the letter, red looked up while thinking deeply about what the letter had said. Coming to a quick decision he headed in to the house. "Yellow, start packing. We are heading to the Kalos Region to get Ash."
The dark room seemed familiar to Ash but he couldn't place why. There wasn't anything there to give it any distinct characteristics but still he felt like he knew this place. Looking down at himself, Ash saw the white flames burning all over his body and the beautiful white wings spread from his back.
While still trying to remember where he was, Ash thought of the last thing he was doing before coming to this place. He had been laying on the beach, writhing in pain while Igglybuff sang him to sleep. "So if I'm asleep, then that means this..." Ash began.
"Is all in your head? Yeah it is." Another voice interrupted from behind Ash.
Spinning around, Ash saw the man who had said those words. "Who are you?" Ash asked while looking at the man across from him. The man had black hair and was wearing the same clothes as Ash. There also seemed to be black flames coming from the man's body just like Ash's white ones.
Gaining a cruel smirk, the other man spread a pair of black bat wings wide from his back. "That's easy Ash. I'm you."
