A/N: Okay, enter the new character. She is an OC. I wanted this one to be longer since the last two I posted weren't even 1,000 words. So this chapter is making up for that.
Disclaimer: I only own Alex and the new OC in this. I don't own Puck or the song.
Once they finally made it to the spot where the beacon had been signaled, Alex made sure to turn off the radio and lights a few seconds before pulling up to the building that kind of looked like a police department. It was just outside of the city limits of Columbia, sitting alone on the middle of the high way. It appeared that there were no lights on in the building which gave it that eery feeling to it. The road didn't even have street lights. Only thing that had lights pouring off of it was the city just up ahead.
The two got out of the car and shut the doors as quietly as they could, their bigger guns in their hands and at the ready. It was so silent that you could hear the sound of their boots crunching on the grave with each step they took. It echoed lightly in the distance.
"Take the back and I'll grab the front," whispered Alex. Puck gave a nod and trotted over towards the side of the building, his back against the wall. He turned his head and watched Alex cautiously walk up to the door of the police station. Once she was out of view, Puck peeked around the corner and once he knew it was safe he proceeded around to the back. Alex placed her gloved hand on the glass of the door and looked inside but saw nothing. It was too dark to make out any bodies but her eyes adjusted enough to see that it was in empty, except for all the paper on the floor and furniture turned upside down.
"You see anything Noah?" she asked in her ear piece. She waited for an answer that came a minute later.
"Just a bunch of totalled cop cars and half eaten bodies,"
"Think you can count how many there are?"
She stood there and waited for an answer but when it didn't come in the next minute like the last one she decided to try the front door. She placed her gloved hand around the knob and twisted slowly; it opened. She stepped in, gun in her hand. She pressed a button on the end of it which allowed the flash light to shine. Holding the Benelli M2 at aim, she creeped around slowly.
"There's about twelve of them, some happen to be officers," Puck's voice washed through her ear softly, made her breath out easily.
"I kind of figured as much since there's no one inside," she spoke back to him, continuing her search. Something felt off though, like someone was watching her. "Check around the entire building, make sure there are no zombies around then meet me inside,"
"Ay Ay, Captain,"
It was ingulfed in silence again and Alex made sure to check every inch of the office before starting her rounds near the back. But as that nagging feeling grew stronger, Alex stopped in her tracks completely and moved her gun every which way for the flash light to shine on every darkened inch. Until something made a shuffling sound behind her.
And she turned just in time too because someone holding an axe swung at her, she caught it easily and pushed them back, quickly holding her gun up but it was knocked out of her hands and onto the floor. She recovered quickly as she pulled the 8 inch knife from its sheath on her back and blocked the blade of the axe in a swift motion. The attacker struggled against her but was quickly over powered. Alex pushed the axe back, grabbing it from the attacker and tossing it aside where she pushed the person back against the nearest wall and pressed the knife up against their throat.
She pressed her body firmly against theirs to prevent them from moving or escaping.
"Who are you?" she asked. The person squirmed and everytime they did Alex could feel that it was a woman from the way her breasts pressed into her own.
"I'm the one who sent out the distress signal!" the girl explained quickly, "Please don't kill me,"
Alex pulled the knife from her throat but didn't step back as she turned the light on that was attacked to her earpiece. She saw the girl squint from the light. Alex finally stepped back and let the light shine all over the girls entire body. She was shorter then Alex, and very slim. The button down red plaid blouse she wore clung to her torso, the bottom of it tucked into ther tight blue jeans, She wore a pair of black converses and her light brown hair was up in a pony tail. She wore glasses and in all she was a beautiful girl.
"My names Nicole," she held her hand out and Alex took it, shaking it slowly.
"Alex," she replied after switching the light off. Placing her knife back where it belonged, she bent down and picked up her gun. "Are there any zombies here?'
She could see the girl shake her head, she looked a bit shaken up and she seemed fine considering the circumstances. The sound of multipal gun shots caused both of them to flinch. Alex reached over and grabbed Nicole's waist to pull her to her side. Nicole looked up at her and was able to see her face under the moon light, she was stunned at how gorgeous this girl was. "Stay by my side, don't leave it no matter what happens," she looked down and that's when Nicole's breath hitched in her throat. "Okay?'
"o-okay," stuttered Nicole. Alex's sky blue eyes were burned in the shorter girls brain.
They walked outside, Alex holding the gun and Nicole right behind her. It seemed to quiet after the two gun shots so something wasn't right, or it didn't feel right. Stepping away from the police station, they didn't see anything, just darkness.
"Noah?"
Nicole watched the woman point the gun towards the bushes near the back, nothing was there.
"Noah Puckerman, answer me!" she tried on her ear piece again but only got static. "Fuck!" she cursed then rushed to the charger. Opening the car and pulling back the seat she let the girl inside. She pulled her hand gun from it's holster and handed it to her, "You can shoot guns, right?"
Nicole nodded her head frantically. Alex held her hand as she placed the gun in Nicole's palm and made eye contact with her.
"Shoot at anything that moves, do not leave the car, and if I'm not back in ten minutes I want you to leave and head straight towards the opposite way of the city, okay?" Alex said this in a rush, her voice full of fear and worry.
"Okay,"
She went to pulled away but Nicole pulled her back so she was looking at her, "Be careful and come back,"
Alex smiled softly but nodded anyways then shut the door and ran towards the building.
Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would've known
Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye
Her feet came to a stop when she got to the back of the building. She switched her guns flash light on and searched around. There were indeed bodies all around, most of them were the officers. "Noah!" she called out. Nothing.
As she stepped over the bodies, she waved the gun around to light up every surface of the back. Where was he? She looked behind her and noticed that she was getting further away from the building. When she looked back ahead something caught her eye, running up to it she kneeled down and picked it up. It was Puck's ear piece.
The sound of a third gun shot rang out through the night sky, it was nearing twilight. Alex looked up from the ear piece and dashed towards the sound.
I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared
She spotted Puck on the ground, fighting off two zombies. She raised her gun and shot both of them in the head and without waiting for them to fall she ran towards her friend and kneeled next to him.
"What happened?" she looked at his body to find anything wrong with it.
"I went to take a piss and one of those pigs grabbed my foot. It tripped me and my ear piece fell out. I shot him in the head then crawled away but there were like two more after me so I tried to hide,"
Alex pulled him to his feet, "Can you walk?"
"No, the guy twisted my foot. I think it's broken," Puck hopped up as Alex wrapped her arm around his waist and they headed back towards the car.
Unaware, I just did what I always do
Everyday, the same routine
Before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest
They got closer to the building when the unmistakable sound of snarling and groaning reached their ears. Both of them looked behind them to see three zombies walking towards them, and not slowly.
"Shit!"
"Fuck!"
They both said at the same time. Alex sped up her movements but Puck was weighing her down. They hadn't seen one of the bodies so they fell over it. Alex scurried back next to Puck and tried to pick him up but he pushed her away.
"Just go! I'm only slowing you down!"
Alex stared at him, "Puck, you are insane if you think I'm leaving you here. Get your ass up and come on," she tried again but he shoved back. The zombies got closer with each passing second.
"GO Alex!" he shouted. She stood up and looked at where the zombies were.
Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
Everybody was running
But I couldn't hear nothing
Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Even though I sit by him in class
"I'm not leaving you," she grounded out then wrapped her arms under his arms and began to drag him away as fast as she could. "Use your gun to shoot them!" she yelled. The sound of gravel scraping under a body was heard louder then the snarling demons.
Puck held up his gun, aimed, and shot at each one. Hitting two but missing the third one. It began to ran towards them. "Alex!"
Said girl looked up as they had gotten just around the side of the building when the zombie grabbed ahold of Puck's legs and pulled him. Alex let him go and pulled her gun up to shoot at the thing, blowing half his face off. He fell to the ground.
Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
Or maybe for a moment
He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
Whatever it was
I know it's because
Alex bent down and pulled Puck up once more before helping him to the car where the passanger side door sat open. She threw the man in and shut the door only to rush to her side just as twilight broke the sky and she could see at least a dozen zombies headed their way.
Jumping in the car, she started it up and spun her tires as she backed out of the parking lot. As she spun the steering wheel to turn around, her hand hit the gear shift into drive and squealed out onto the road.
Puck looked behind in the back seat and spotted the girl, "Who's this?"
Alex looked in the rear view mirror and saw Nicole sitting there, she looked slightly scared so she smiled at her, which instantly calmed the girl down.
"This is Nicole, the girl we were suppose to rescue,"
Puck reached back and grabbed her hand in a shake, "Names Noah but everyone calls me Puck,"
Nicole shook back, "Nice to meet you Puck," she glanced up to catch Alex's eyes and felt her heart beat quickly in her chest. Puck caught the exchange between the two and let out a low laugh as he sat forward.
We are, We are, the youth of the nation.
