A Series of Drabbles, all set in Modern Time

1. Last Rites

It didn't matter how many times Gwen reassured him, once the plane was not flying smoothly, Arthur began confessing as if to a priest with his last rites.

A good many things came out- he nicked ten pounds from his dad's wallet, lied to Gwen, and he had killed during his term in the Army and he did not know the exact number.

It was towards the end when it became ridiculous. The truly embarrassing and laughable deeds came to light and then the airplane stabilized and the pilot said it was alright now and they will be landing soon.

Gwen, ever so understanding, kissed him and confessed a few things, as if to make it okay.

Unfortunately, Arthur forgot that Merlin and Gwaine were seated behind them and heard it all. And that Merlin had his videophone on. The plane could not land fast enough for them.

2. Perfect for the role

It was as if the god of film decided that today the director will be given this blessing. In the form of an audition tape and a very persistent casting director.

She was perfect for this role. With her big doe eyes, and lovely curls and intelligent speech, yes Guinevere is Arthur Pendragon's Fair, the star of White Spirit. The beautiful damsel with a heartbreaking past and a heart of gold plated steel.

Now he has to convince her to take the role.

Deciding to be upfront, Arthur walk up to the girl and said, "Miss, how would you like to star in my movie?"

Merlin smirked; the twerp probably brought her over to win the argument that he could find talent. Arthur will have to give him a raise, but only if she accepts.

Guinevere was surprised, for a moment and then said with a grin, "When do we start shooting?"

Arthur shared her grin.

3. Make-up

Arthur Pendragon was in trouble and it was mostly his leading lady's fault.

He hired her because as soon as he saw Guinevere Leopold, he knew she could play this part. At her audition, once she spoke the first line, it was a certainty that all who see her will love her.

Arthur did not know that he would fall for her. That was not in his plan. He wanted to make the film he had been working toward ever since film school. Heck, ever since he was twelve. That should be consuming his mind, all that should matter now.

But to see her tear up, the make up of grime and real sweat all over, looking straight him and then pick up her sword to charge, that was it. And he had to wonder, What's next?

4. Hello

Turned out to be interesting day today. After the hearing of his "honorable discharge" from the service, a woman in a ripped dress and a large sword.

(well, large in her dainty hands) slammed into him. And they had to run because some skinny bloke told them to.

Now they were all at his apartment and he wasn't befuddled and angry as before. He then noticed that woman is...absolutely beautiful. How could he miss it? He could get poetic about her beauty, but he was not a poet.

And her dress wasn't just ripped, it was in tatters and looked as if a medieval drama costume.

"Are you two actors?" He asked.

"Definitely not," said the bloke, "I'm Merlin and this is Gwen."

"So you're escapees from an asylum then?"

Gwen said curtly, "No. We escaped from an evil witch. This is your sword by the way."

And she tossed him the blade with ease.

"Hello Arthur." Merlin smiled.
