The girls continued to cook as they made small talk and laughed. Mitchie didn't know how but she was going to try everything and get Gabriella to trust her.
Once all the cooking was done the girls helped clean up and took out the trash.
"What happens now?" Gabriella asked.
"Now we go join Troy and the others and taste our cooking." Mitchie.
Gabriella giggled. "I'm not too good at cooking. I hope nobody gets sick because of me."
"No worries. It was supervised cooking so it will be fine."
"Thanks for letting me come help."
"Not a problem. But tomorrow you're sleeping in."
"I promise I can try."
"Good. Come on."
Mitchie took her hand and lead her over to wear she meets her friends.
The second Gabriella saw Troy her eyes lit up and she ran right into his arms.
"Hey!" he smiled widely. "There's my girl."
"I missed you." She said softly.
Troy kissed her head. "I missed you too. I went to your cabin this morning and the girls said you had left early with Mitchie. Where did you go?"
"Um…Mitchie needed help in the kitchen so I helped her." Gabriella answered.
Troy kissed her head and hugged her tighter. He knew there was more to her story than she was telling him. But he let it go….for now. "Come on Angel, let's go try this yummy food you helped make."
Gabriella giggled and blushed. She nodded and grabbed a tray. She fiiled it with some food and followed Troy to the table where the others were. Troy sat down with his tray.
"I'm going to get a drink." Gabriella said as she set her tray down. "Want one?"
"I'm good. I've got one."
"Ok be right back." She smiled softly and headed over to the drink station. She grabbed a plastic cup and looked at the names of each drink. She chose milk, she turned the nob as the milk slowly started to stream down into her cub.
Suddenly a hand smacked her cup out of way causing it to go all over her. "Hey!" Gabriella cried out.
"Move it, I was here first." Someone said.
Some people passing by just giggled. Gabriella looked down and saw a wet spot on her pants. Her face turned bright red. It looked like she had an accident in her pants.
"Uh-oh looks like the wittle baby had an accident." The girl teased causing the others close enough to hear to laugh too. "Your new around here aren't you?" the girl asked.
Gabriella nodded keeping her gaze on the floor not wanting anyone to see her tears.
"So you need to learn how things work around here. First my name is Jade Johnson I'm rich and BOTH my parents are famous singers. So I rule this place. I always get what I want when I want. So when I want my drink you move your fat butt and let me get my drink."
"Hey! Back off Jade!" Gabriella heard behind her.
Mitchie walked over to her and stood in front of Gabriella.
"Oh Look, it's Brown's little maid." The girl laughed.
"Oh good one, I've never heard that one before." Mitchie rolled her eyes. "Jade, back off and leave Gabriella alone. Clearly you're the new one around here. The one with the most money and who has famous parents are no longer the rulers of this camp. There are no rulers. Everyone at this camp is as special and unique as the next person. There is certainly a strict no bullying rule. So if I ever see you bullying Gabriella or any other camper again I'm reporting you to Brown."
Mitchie turned around to face Gabriella. "Come on, we keep an extra pair of clothes in the back in case of spillage."
Gabriella just nodded and followed Mitchie to the back of the kitchen. People laughed and pointed at Gabriella as she passed them.
After Gabriella got changed she followed Mitchie back to the table.
"Hey, what happen? I was getting worried." Troy said as she sat down.
Gabriella didn't speak she just buried her face in Troy's shoulder and clung to his arm.
"Hey." Troy cooed as he used his other hand to rub her back. "Baby, what's wrong?"
When she didn't answer he looked to Mitchie. "What happen?"
"She met Jade. She's a lot like Tess." Mitchie answered.
Troy sighed but nodded. "It's ok, Baby, I'm right here. You're safe now."
Gabriella still didn't respond.
"Gabriella, can I tell him what happen?" Mitchie asked her.
Gabriella nodded.
"She spilled Gabriella's drink all over her. Some of it got on the front of her pants. I think she's just feeling a little embarrassed." Mitchie explained. "I got her some change of clothes from the kitchen."
"Thanks for helping her, Mitchie."
"Not a problem. So, are you two joining us for the Beach Jam tonight. It's just a fun night where we hang out on the sand and sing."
"We will come cheer you guys on, but I don't think Gabriella is feeling up for singing." Troy said pulling his arm free and wrapping both his arms around her. She moved her face from his shoulder to his chest. He rubbed her back and kissed her head. "Maybe another time."
"There is also the Pajama Jam." Caitlyn explained. "We all wear our pajamas and meet in the rec room and take turns singing. It's a lot of fun."
"Maybe we will be ready to sing by then." Troy said nicely.
"No pressure. We just want Gabriella to feel comfortable." Mitchie said.
"What about this Jade girl, should I be worried?" Troy asked.
"Nah, I gave her a warning and if she doesn't back off tell me and I'll report her to Brown." Mitchie answered. "There is a very strict no bullying rule here. I help make sure that rule is followed."
"Thanks, Mitchie."
"It's really not a big deal. I was bullied my first year here and I'll do anything to prevent someone else from going through the same thing."
"Was it Jade?" Troy asked.
"Tess." Mitchie answered.
"I'm kind of glad she stayed over at Camp Star. Now she can't hurt Gabriella."
"I guess." Mitchie shrugged.
After that they just ate in a comfortable silence.
That night everyone met up at the stage set up on the sand.
"Hey, glad you guys could make it." Mitchie said to Gabriella and Troy. "How are you?"
"Better." Gabriella answered. "Thanks for earlier."
"Not a problem. Just glad I could help. The girls and I will be up soon. You should go get a seat."
Gabriella and Troy nodded.
They found a good spot and sat down. They cheered and clapped as people came up to sing and dance.
Finally Mitchie, Caitlyn, Peggy, and Ella walked onto the stage.
Mitchie grabbed the center mic. "Hey guys! This is a song the girls and I came up with at the end of Camp last year. I hope you guys like it."
The band started to play a soft yet upbeat tune.
Mitchie started to sing first.

Everyone clapped and cheered, but Troy and Gabriella cheered and clapped louder than the rest. Mithcie smiled as they all headed off the stage.
Gabriella smiled too. Maybe next time she could go up and sing with him. Maybe, just maybe this wasn't going to be the worst summer of her life.
