Gabriella smiled too. Maybe next time she could go up and sing with him. Maybe, just maybe this wasn't going to be the worst summer of her life.

After everyone had their change to sing, everyone headed back to their cabins.

As everyone was walking Gabriella clung tightly to Troy's hand. Once she could see her cabin in sight he froze. She turned to Troy and spoke. "I have to tell you something, Troy."

"What's up, Baby?" he asked. "You're white as a ghost."

"Mitchie didn't really need my help this morning."

"What do you mean?" Troy asked.

"I begged her to let me come and help her."

"Why?"

Gabriella sighed and looked down to the ground. "I couldn't sleep….I…I haven't been sleep good since we got here."

"Baby, why didn't you tell me?" Troy asked pulling her into a hug.

Gabriella shrugged.

Troy rubbed her back as he gently started to sway side to side. "What is keeping you up at night, Angel?"

"Axel."

"He's on the other side of the camp."

"He's only a boat ride away. That's too close" Gabriella sighed. "I'm scared he'll come get me in the middle of the night."

"You know I'm not allowed to stay with you at night, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't do anything possible to keep you safe.

"I like when you hold me." Gabriella said, feeling safe and comfortable, and even tired as Troy soothed her.

"How about this." Troy said as he continued his actions. "From now on I'll come into your room at night with you and sit with you and I'll sing or rub your back or whatever you want me to do and I'll stay with you until you fall sleep. If you wake up and get scared in the middle of the night just come wake me. I'll come back and stay until you fall sleep again."

"But boys aren't allowed in girls cabins after a certain time." Gabriella whimpered.

"Baby, we're aren't doing anything wrong. I'll stay until you fall sleep and leave once you're comfortable that's all. Besides I don't care about the rules. Nobody and no one is going to keep me from comforting you when you need me."

"I love you, Troy."

"I love you too. Thank you for telling me the truth." He kissed her head and kept her in his arms as they continued to walk toward their cabins.

When they arrived back to the cabin Troy waited as Gabriella went to get ready. Then once she laid down in bed Troy sat by her side. He stroked her hair and softly sung to her. She was out like a light in no time at all.

He slowly and carefully stood and looked to Mitchie. "If she wakes up scared or has a nightmare please come get me."

"I will. Don't worry Troy."

Troy gave Gabriella a kiss on the head and left to go to his own cabin.

The next morning Troy woke up a bit earlier and showed and got dressed. Then he headed across the way to the girls cabin. He knocked just to be sure it was ok for him to go in. Caitlyn let him in.

"Here to help us wake up Gabriella?"

He laughed. "She's never been a morning person. You girls can go on to breakfast. We will meet you there."

The girls said their goodbyes and left. Troy went over and sat down by her side again.. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead. "Sleeping Beauty it's time to wake up."

"Go away." Gabriella mumbled.

He chuckled. "Come on, Beautiful. It's time to get up. We are meeting the others."

"No. Go away." She whined.

Troy laughed and stood up. He went over to one of the windows and lifted the shades.

Gabriella groaned and lifted her arms to cover her eyes. "No! Make the sun go away."

Troy went back over to her. "All right, Missy, this is your last chance to get up otherwise I'll be forced to take drastic measures."

Gabriella just grumbled and wrapped her arms tighter around her face to shield her eyes from the light.

Troy shrugged. "Ok, you asked for it." With that he started to tickle stomach.

Gabriella squealed and her arms shot down trying to push him away. She started giggling and rolling around trying to get away from his tickling fingers.

"Now will you get up?" he asked.

"Yes, ok, stop it!" she giggled.

He stopped and let her sit up.

"I hate you."

Troy just started to tickle her again. "What did you just say? Huh? Did you just say you hate me?"

Gabriella squealed and broke out into giggles again. "I love you!" she squealed.

Troy laughed and stopped. "Much better. Now go get ready Angel."

Gabriella nodded and headed into the bathroom.

The rest of the morning past by uneventfully.

Later that evening it was time for the Pajama Jam. Gabriella was planning to sing as a surprise to her new friends and Troy.

She and Troy walked into the Rec Room where it was being held. Mitchie ran over to them. They were all dressed in cute pjs.

"Hey, you guys made it." She smiled. "Now, there is no pressure, but if you want to sing you just talk to that woman in the corner over there. Her name is Joy. She'll put your name down on the list and then when it's your turn she'll call you up."

"Thanks." Gabriella answered softly.

"Are you girls singing?" Troy asked.

"Of course." Mitchie smiled. "Come on I'll take you to them."

Troy and Gabriella followed Mitchie to the others.

They all clapped and cheered along as other campers got up to sing.

"I'm going to run to the bathroom." Gabriella whispered to Troy suddenly.

He nodded. She walked away. He had a funny feeling she was up to something, the bathroom was in the other direction. But he shook it off. Maybe there was two bathrooms.

A few minutes later she returned.

"Hey, you ok?" Troy asked when she returned.

She nodded. "I'm fine."

Troy pulled her into his arms and hugged her, kissing the back of his hair.

A few more campers went up to sing and then Joy read of the next name.

"Next we have one of our newest campers. Give it up for Gabriella Montez."

"What?" Troy asked shocked.

Gabriella nodded with a smile. "I want to try."

"I'm so proud of you." Troy said. He kissed her head and she rushed over to the small stage where the microphone was.

"Hi…" she said shyly. She looked out to all the others watching her, suddenly she felt dizzy. She remembered the feeling from when she tried a solo in her Church Choir and fainted. "Um…I….um….I…uh…"

She started shaking and breathing heavy. Suddenly a familiar tune hit her hear. Troy appeared next to her with a second microphone.

He quickly started to sing.

[TROY] Livin' in my own world
Didn't understand
That anything can happen
When you take a chance

Troy looked to Gabriella with a small smile hoping she'd join him and and sing with him.

She bit her lip nervously and shook her head.

"Just look at me, right at me." He remaindered her.

She inhaled and exhaled a deep breath. Softly and shyly she started to sing.

[GABRIELLA] I never believed in
What I couldn't see
I never opened my heart

[TROY] Ohhhhh

[GABRIELLA] Too all the possibilities, Ohh

Troy smiled and took her hand as they faced the crowd and sang together.

[GABRIELLA] That something has changed

By the end of the song everyone was cheering and clapping. Troy and Gabriella kissed passionately before heading back over to her friends.

"Wow that was great!" Mitchie smiled. "Gabriella your voice is amazing."

Gabriella blushed. "Thanks."

"You guys were awesome!" Caitlyn said.

"Thanks." Troy smiled. He kissed Gabriella's head and pulled her into him.

"Thanks for saving me." Gabriella sighed softly to Troy.

"I just switched your songs so I could sing with you. There was no saving needed. You did amazing." Troy told her.

"I guess."

"Hey, you did it, I'm so very proud of you." Troy promised and kissed her once more.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Brie."

They shared another kiss and then turned their attention to the next round of singers.

When the Pajama Jam was over everyone left the Rec Room. As they were walking a voice called out to them.

"Well that was pretty impressive."

Gabriella froze and her breathing picked up. It was like her nightmares were coming to life right before her eyes.
