Gabriella finished her business and washed her hands. As she stepped back outside she heard a voice behind her.
"Gabriella, finally you're alone."
Gabriella turned around and gasped, suddenly feeling like a weight was on her chest. "Axel!"
Axel stood there smirking. "I knew if I waited around long enough I'd get you alone. Which is good because I have a lot to tell you. So much is about to happen I wanted to tell you about."
Gabriella gulped and gasped for air. She was paralyzed with fear and couldn't move. She started to shake as Axel walked closer to her….
It was later in the evening all the classes were over and everyone was able to enjoy some free time. Mitchie and the girls were hanging out in the cabin working on their song for the Final Jam.
Gabriella was supposed to be out on a date with Troy.
Out of nowhere Gabriella burst through the doors crying hysterically. She threw herself onto her bed and cried.
"Gabriella? What's wrong?" Mitchie said.
Gabriella didn't answer she just continued to cry.
Mitchie looked to the others. "Go find Troy."
They nodded and quickly left the room, Mitchie went over to her bed and sat down.
"Gabriella, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Mitchie asked again.
There was no answer.
"What's going on? Please talk to me. Did someone hurt you? Are you hurt?"
Gabriella continued to ignore Mitchie and cry.
Mitchie sighed. "Do you want me to get Troy?"
Gabriella didn't even respond to that. That's when Mitchie knew something really bad must have just happen. Then it clicked. "Gabriella, did you see Axel?"
Finally Gabriella nodded but continued to cry.
"What did he say to you? Did he touch you, or hurt you?"
Gabriella didn't answer. Mitchie sighed.
The door burst open and Troy came running in.
"What happen? What did Axel do?"
"How do you know it was Axel?" Mitchie asked.
"I saw him headed back to the other side and then the girls came to get me. I put the pices together."
Mitchie sighed. "She's not speaking or responding to anything. But her breathing is not too bad so I don't think she's having a panic attack."
Troy sighed softly and went over to sit down next to Mitchie. He stroked Gabriella's hair. "Baby, please talk to us. Whatever Axel said to you is a lie."
Finally Gabriella turned to face him. She sniffed softly. "That's the problem." She whimpered. "For once Axel is right. There is nothing I can do to stop him."
"What is he right about?" Troy asked. "As fair as I know nothing that man says about you is true."
"He want…." Gabriella let out a shaky breath.
"Shhh, just breathe, take deep breaths and keep breathing." Troy soothed. "You're safe. Axel can't hurt you."
Gabriella inhaled and exhaled a deep shaky breath. She up and looked to Troy. "Axel wants me to join Camp Star."
"That can't happen. Your mom already signed you up for here. When you're signed up you are asked for a list of people who are allowed to take you from the camp. If your name isn't on the list nobody can remove you from this camp without it being kidnapping." Mitchie told her. "For example, nobody except my mom and dad are allowed to take me from here. If your father is abusive and your mother knew he was abusive I doubt she'd put him down on that list."
"You haven't met my mother." Gabriella muttered to herself soft enough that nobody else heard.
"There is more to it than that, isn't there? What else did he say to you?" Troy asked.
Gabriella's breathing started to increase, and her breaths came out in pants. She started shaking as more tears started to fall down her cheeks.
"Awww Baby." Troy cooed. He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly. He kissed her head. "Brie, whatever it is you can tell me. I won't laugh or judge."
"I can't…" Gabriella gasped. "If I say it….it's true."
"Shhh, breathe, just breathe." Troy soothed. "I want you to focus on breathing first."
Gabriella shook her head. "I can't…I can't breathe."
"Yes, you can, just take some deep breaths. Watch me, Princess, watch me." Troy inhaled and exhaled deep breaths.
Gabriella followed his move movements.
"Good girl, do it again, inhale and exhale."
Gabriella continued to copy Troy's movements until she was breathing normally again.
"Good, Sweetie. That's better." Troy cooed. He was still curious as to what else Axel said but he didn't dare ask in case it caused another panic attack. Instead he tried to rack his brain and figure out what Axel could have possibly said to upset her and scare her so badly.
Suddenly a thought hit him and he paled. He felt sick. It wasn't possible….was it?
"Troy, you look like you just show a Ghost. Are you ok?" Mitchie asked.
Troy shook his head and looked to Gabriella. "Baby Girl. If I guess right on what Axel said will you tell me the truth?"
Gabriella nodded.
Troy inhaled a deep breath, "Gabriella, does Axel want full custody."
Gabriella started to cry again and shake. "He doesn't want it Troy, he already has it! My mother and I just left she never got full custody or anything. We just ran away! He still has it! Until I turn 18 he can do whatever he wants to me! Because nobody can reach my mom I can't stop him! He's going to make me go home with him after Camp Rock is over. I will live with him and his wife and Dana!"
Gabriella was trembling now, shaking so bad she couldn't breathe.
"Gabriella I told you Axel has no legal right to take you from this Camp. His name is not on the list."
"You don't know that! Plus he said he'd willingly or unwillingly. He wouldn't care if it's kidnapping! I'll never see my friends again, I'll never see Troy again I….I'll never….." Gabriella trailed of as she started to hyperventilate.
"Baby breathe, breathe, and breathe." Troy said. He hugged her as tight as humanly possible. "I'm right here. I'm not letting that monster take you anywhere. You are not going with him, not now not ever! We are going to stop this."
"How!" Gabriella gasped.
"I don't know but I promise we will. Please calm down. I promise I'm not letting him get you. I promise. When we leave here, it's happening together. I don't care what your mom says, you're coming back home with me, you will live with me and my parents. You will be safe from both your father and mother, neither of them can hurt you ever again."
Gabriella started to calm down. "DO you promise?"
"I promise, Baby Girl. I've never broken a promise to you and I'm not about to start now."
Gabriella calmed down but stayed in Troy's arms clinging to him as tight as she could. Troy rubbed her back and kissed her head. He softly started to sing and in a few minutes Gabriella was sleeping peacefully.
"Mitchie what do we do?" Troy asked.
"I don't know, Troy. I do know we have to get help from an adult. I know you don't trust them, but my mom and Brown will help us and Brown will make sure Axel isn't able to get near Gabriella ever again." Mitchie said. "I know you both have been against getting help, but now we have no other choice. Axel all but threatened to kidnap Gabriella, we need to protect her from that."
Troy nodded. "You're right. Let's do it."
"Troy, you need to be honest with me, is her mother abusive too?" Mitchie asked.
"I'm not answering that question. It's her secret to tell."
"Troy, if I'm going to help you I need to know everything. If her mom is abusive we will need to find somewhere else for Gabriella to live with and stay until she is 18."
"She's not abusive." Gabriella said startling them both. "She not abusive."
"Gabriella…" Troy started.
"No Troy, she's not! She is nothing like Axel."
"Just because it's not in the same way as Axel doesn't mean she's not abusive. Neglect is a form of abuse."
"She not neglecting me."
Troy sighed. "Gabriella, you have to admit it, your mom may not hit you or verbally attack you like Axel did, but she has her way of making her unfit mother. You have to at least admit that."
"Name one thing that makes her unfit."
"Well for one she knew Axel was hurting you and she did nothing. She knew about your panic attacks and she told you, you were being a drama queen. She only left Axel once the abuse turned to her. She just dumped you off here at this camp with people neither of you know, in a place that neither of you know. She doesn't help you get settled or make sure you're comfortable before you leave, and she hasn't called you since to see how you were doing. She hasn't answered any of your calls or texts about Axel."
"I said one thing." Gabriella muttered.
"Why are you so scared of admitting it?" Troy asked. "I know deep down you know it's true."
"If both my parents are unfit I'll have to go into a foster family and when they don't work out another foster family and when they don't work out another one, and another one, and another, and another. I'll be switching homes until I'm 18. I don't want that life."
"What if we can make it so you live with Taylor, Kelsi, or Martha? Maybe even Chad, Jason, and Zeke?"
"Why are you not on that list?"
"Because I'm your boyfriend, they won't allow us to live together."
Gabriella sighed.
"What if I promise you that no matter I will not let you get put into a foster home. I will do everything in my power to make sure you're put with a family who loves you and will care about you the way you deserve."
"You're promising me that?"
"Yes."
Gabriella inhaled and exhaled a deep breath and nodded. "Ok. You're right. My mom is unfit as well."
"Good Girl. I'm so proud of you." Troy said. He kissed her head and looked to Mitchie. "Can you get your mom and Brown and have them come in here."
"Sure. I'll be right back."
Once she was gone Troy took out his phone.
"What are you doing?" Gabriella asked.
"Calling my parents and letting them know what's going on. The only person you're leaving this camp with is me."
Gabriella nodded. She was terrified of what was going to happen to her now, but she trusted Troy and he would keep his promise…wouldn't he?
