Chapter 62

"Hey, Akira, I have to…take care of something," I said, awkwardly.

"Don't bother trying to hide it, just go," he smiled at me, hugging me quickly before pushing me off. "Come on, let's go to that store you guys like."

I ran, pulling on the pacifier on my neck, breaking the illusion and stuffing it in my pocket.

"Vendi," I called, he popped out of his egg, following my speed a little shakily. I grabbed him and set him on my head.

"Yes, Lacie?"

"Don't call me that here," I scowled, "you'll blow my cover."

"Accept my apologies. What is it you need?"

"Character Change when we arrive at our destination."

"Of course."

I kept running, people giving me strange looks or annoyed ones as I swiftly avoid colliding with them. I refrain a shiver as I see a rather large spider.

Yeah, not a big fan of spiders.

Or any type of insect. Another reason to hate Shamal, right?

I finally see what I'm looking for, an X-Egg! "Vendi!"

"Do it with your dying will…Chara…CHANGE!"

I throw out my hand, a white bandage shooting out of my sleeve and wrapping itself around the egg. The egg struggled in my hold. I brought it back to me, unwrapping the bandages and smiling at it, catching it off guard.

"Hey there, little guy, sorry for surprising you like that," I cooed. It seemed to calm down and tilt to the right in question. "Well, you would have ran if I got closer, right?"

It bobbed, making me chuckle. I tightened my grip, making it shake.

"It's a shame that you aren't who I'm looking for though, and I don't show mercy to my prey," I whispered, grinning like a madman.

"Stop!" I heard a shout. Amu came running, doing a character transformation in the process, she glared at me. "Give me the egg!"

"Why should I?" I asked, bringing the egg closer and licking it. I know, creepy, evil, but I have to be the bad guy.

It was yesterday that I realized that I can't get close to them. I just can't.

"So I can return it to a normal egg, so that it can go back to being a dream!"

"The egg of our hearts…our would-be selves…" I mocked. "They can always make a new dream." With that, I tightened my grip more, making the egg groan. But suddenly, I was forced to let go of it as claws came slashing at me, ripping the front of my shirt—SHIT.

I bent over, covering my chest with a thousand thoughts racing through my head.

I have to cover it with an illusion—but I can't concentrate! I can't put up an illusion if I can't focus! I knew I should've put it up this morning! But I didn't think that it would happen this early—he ripped the binder! I stood and jumped onto a building, feeling Ikuto following me.

"Shit!" I cursed, running quickly and jumping across buildings, trying to get away. I swear, Ikuto would make a good hitman.

"Oozora!" Ikuto shouted, calling after me. I looked over, still running, and throwing a hand out to him, bandages shooting out and wrapping themselves around his eyes before he could slash at them. He grunted, stopping as I ran faster.

I kept running, seeing a Sakura tree in the distance and jumping into it, hiding in the branches.

"Stupid fuckasses," I grumbled.

"You are angry," Vendi floated up, staring into my eyes. I sigh, closing them.

"I'm upset. They could have found out…" I whispered, voice cracking again, tears building up in my eyes as I curled into a ball, hugging my knees closer and burying my face so that Vendi couldn't see me. "I just…want to protect…my family… I want to be free!" I sobbed.

"If that is your resolve…" I small, cute, female voice echoed. My head shot up, it really sounded like Yuni, but smaller and squeakier. And egg was floating in front of me, my other egg.

"That…" I whispered, voice returning to its original feminine vocals.

The egg cracked, once half-way, before completely cracking and popping open.

And there, everybody, was a mini-Yuni smiling at me. She even had that smile—and those eyes. The only difference was that she had long hair, like Aria, her mother, and didn't have the orange flower under her eye.

I stared in disbelief.

"You—"

"If that is your resolve…then you can do it. Make it true, protect your family," she interrupted. I blinked, suddenly feeling warmth, kindness, and boldness from her. "I am Inuy, your second chara." (A/N: If you guys don't get it, it's Yuni's name backward. I didn't want to have the exact same name for her, so I made it backwards. It was either that or Sky. You guys tell me, I can always change it.)

"Inuy…" That was definitely 'Yuni' spelled backwards.

Damn, did I really want to be like Yuni or something? What about Vendi? I wanted to be like Yuni and be a Vendice again.

Am I really that crazy?

I sniffed, giving a small smile to Inuy. "Hello, Inuy, I am Lacie, and that is Vendi. Please call me Akira though, I am in disguise." She nodded.

"I know, I have been watching you."

"We both have," Vendi spoke up, looking at Inuy with cold eyes. "Hello, Inuy." It was obvious he didn't like her.

"Hello, Vendi," She gave him a closed-eye smile that really reminded me of Yuni.

"We should go home, first egg was a failure."

"Lacie-chan, you were planning on crushing the egg," Inuy commented, eyes going cold. I looked at her and gave her a look.

"I have no other way."

"Use your resolve to purify it."

I raised an eyebrow at her.

"You can do it with my change as well," Vendi informed. "With the bandages."

I blinked, before my eyes narrowed at them.

"No, I have to look like the villain. I can't let them near me."

They were both quiet as I jumped down the tree, wincing at the pain. Looking down.

"Wow, not only did he rip my shit and binder, but he slashed my skin. That'll leave a scar…" I muttered, umping some sun flames to heal it, walking away, hunched over and hugging myself.

Vendi and Inuy stared at Lacie's retreating figure, hunched over and it was quite obvious that she hadn't realized that she was shaking.

"She truly is the Broken Child."

"But when the time comes, we will have to return to her child-self after—"

"Until the time comes…" Inuy interrupted, eyes becoming cold. "She shouldn't have to go through this." Vendi nodded.

"After all, she is, and always has been, only a child that God has decided to deal a cruel fate to."

"Wise words, correct, yet so sad, Vendi."

"It is only the truth, Inuy."

"Let's go, she's starting to get far."

Vendi only nodded, both of them setting off to catch up to their human—their suffering, broken human with a sad, childish heart.

Not sure how it ended like that. Just did. XD

I type both chapter 61 and 62 today. Right after I finished 61 I started on 62 and bam! I finished. So, I am proud of myself, and really do hope that you guys liked it.

Not sure when I'll update again, guys. Tokyo in Tulsa is in two days and I'm going all three days. I will be squealing and hugging lots of people, know that now.

Hugging? What am I saying? I'll glomp them. XD
